    Pastries & Desserts!

Dead & Company... I know you're out there, and wherever you are -- make your way to the Grateful Bread here in Helena MT! Casey Jones would eat at the Grateful Bread... even if he doesn't have much of an appetite because... well, you know why. Me on the other hand, I do have an appetite, and I'm having GB for a second time since I moved here. I sat next to a boomer last time I was here, and he was having the French Dip -- I assured him I'd go for it the next time I came back and here we are. They bake some amazing pastries and desserts. Without the emoji of a cactus or cake popping up after trying to spell, "desserts", I can't remember which spelling is which. We'll see what dessert I decide to leave with today, in the meantime come check this place out if you haven't. It's poppin'

So, The first time I came here I was so excited to try out the place and the breakfast sandwich did not disappoint. I had the breakfast sandwich on their sourdough bread which was amazing! This time I had the same breakfast sandwich on two of their "biscuits" First of all the San Francisco sourdough bread, the egg, cheese, and sundried tomato worked beautifully together and the customer service was great as well. Now, let's talk about these so-called biscuits. Huge, dry, dense, has too much baking powder, and not fluffy, and lacks flavor. The place was very loud today as well which made working difficult, to say the least. I also substituted the sausage for chicken on one "biscuit" the sandwich was still too dry to eat! Ended up just eating the protein off the sandwich and throwing the "biscuits" in the trash. I will try this place again and have a plain biscuit the next time. The ones I had were like an onion and chive or a spinach biscuit. Either way, they were Gross!

Slowly Helena is adding top shelf neighborhood eateries to its ancient tradition of good neighborhood bars. Across from the iconic Jester's bar on Rodney Street is this superb breakfast/brunch/lunch place. It is a bakery with all sorts of tasty pastries and coffees to go. But order at the counter and go take a seat. Slow down a bit and enjoy this casual, friendly cafe. Recommend the breakfast bacon burrito--pressed to give it crunch--and a latte. Friends love the chicken sandwich. Salads are available too. Such a enjoyable vibe, excellent food, even better caoffees. And it's on Rodney Street, away from the suits and tourists.

Consistently amazing food and great service. I am so glad they are in our Hood. Try the ham and cheese croissant, if you are lucky enough to get one.

Amazing and delicious pastries! Very friendly service ! Got five different things from the pastry case, all were fresh and delicious! Han and cheese croissant was so tasty and still warm when I got it! Raspberry cream cinnamon roll was fantastic too! Fun theme and branding, highly recommend overall!

One of the BEST breakfast sandwiches I have had in a long time! Everything is homemade and you can tell it's made with love. This quaint little bakery provides a comfortable atmosphere that could be used for studying, solo eating, or enjoying food with friends. Excellent friendly customer service as well! If you want bakery goodies I'd recommend getting their early. Would definitely recommend and definitely be back!

I was in town for a wedding and stopped by the bakery cafe for some lunch. The service was prompt and courteous, and food was delicious! I had a vegetarian sandwich, which was crisp and tasty. My partner got the candied garlic (yum!!) wedge salad. Both were terrific, and very affordable for the quality. Stop by this spot for a casual, lovely lunch in Helena.

This was the biggest breakfast sandwich ever haha so darn good. I've never had a bad meal here.

Local art on the walls. This was created by a person name Metta. Which in Pali means loving kindness

I had the breakfast burrito and it was delish! Also a good portion with plenty of sour cream and salsa. I also had a simple little mocha which was really great. The vibe here is pretty chill. Music is a little loud for this with sensitive ears, but what do you expect at a place called Grateful Dead. I mean bread. I would come here again

    Fresh/delicious ...

The last time I came in I ordered a matcha and asked for them to put in less milk as I have gathered from previous times that their drinks are weak, but when I got my drink, it was straight up milk. I went to the barista and asked if I could have more matcha and she charged me as though I had asked for a shot. Whatever, totally fine. But when I got it back, it was the same color and taste. Yesterday, I went in with my boyfriend wanting to give them another chance, and my matcha (as shown in my picture), was straight up milk. My boyfriend went to the counter and asked for extra matcha. They then proceeded to charge him for an entire drink, but ONLY gave us the matcha. lol... no milk, no ice, just matcha. But charged us full price. He also had ordered a latte with an extra shot that for a 12 oz cup, was super weak. We really want to support this place but they need to fix their ratios or something...

There were very few people there in the late afternoon, so service was fast. None of us got anything to eat, but they did have quite a few interesting options. I got a hot chocolate and it was ok....I have had better. Several got coffee and most were happy with what they had. They have tables and some couches and chairs to sit in which are comfortable. They do have outdoor seating,, but it was too cold for us to enjoy it. The place was clean and the service was friendly. Serving sizes are the typical ones for a coffee shop.

Although we were the only ones it took over ten minutes for our order to be completed. We didn't complain as I work in the service industry myself and I know near closing time there can be quite a bit to get prepared for the following day. The young man who made our drinks apologized on delivering our drinks and explained the latte is a complicated drink and takes some time to prepare. With such a remark I thought he was probably just new so we thanked him and went on our way. When we got in our car our lids popped off both of our drinks spilling a significant of liquid in our car. The lid on mine could not be secured again. This was annoying however the worst thing was my husband's latte. It was terrible. I'm thinking maybe it wasn't mixed properly. It was all milky on top and the bottom was all orange flavoring. There was no cayenne flavor. Please Hub coffee. You have good drink specials. My husband loved this Dark Orange Mocha last time he had it. But you really need to train your staff better. And maybe take a look at your lids as well please.
