Today was my last straw at the bagel corner. After coming here multiple times, different times of the day, I always tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt with their customer service and today did it. There is an assistant supervisor who has blue hair & is full of tattoos that just always has something sarcastic to say and provides horrible customer service. She speaks to all customers like children, she takes orders in a fast unwelcoming way & she speaks to her staff in such an embarrassing/humiliating way that I also experience second hand embarrassment. There is absolutely no need to act like a drill sergeant to your staff after messing up an order. (Has happened more than 2 times I have been there) This place has good food, but wow, I think the supervisor expectations need to be revised because I have NO idea how she got there. Customer service TOTALLY ruins the whole experience of eating here. read more

The Bagel Corner is one of my favorite spots for a quick bite to eat. Indoor and outdoor seating! Always busy! Worth the wait and bang for your buck. My go to isn't really a bagel at all, although they are delicious! Different flavors, ( Pesto & Asiago cheese is a winner and Blueberry) but the breakfast burritos! Aww man those burritos I could eat everyday and never get sick of them! My burrito order is small veg add bacon with extra salsa verde on the side. For a bagel I go for the pesto bagel with cream cheese, tomatoes, pickles, sprouts, cucumber, & peppers. It's lightly toasted, crunchy, cold, and so filling! This is a family owned business who also have take away Italian food called pastabilities on the other side of the street. The employees have been there for years and are such a delight. It's very clean! Tons of side options from broccoli salad, pasta salad, soups and can't forget the daily specials! I highly recommend this place. This place never misses! I've tried their breakfast burritos and three different bagel sandwiches and they have all been good. All very filling as well. Prices can be steep when it comes to the sandwiches considering you can get a meal at that price at other joints. This place is a staple in the community, I've been coming to bagel corner since I was at least 5 years old. The best bagels you can get anywhere in the central coast. The food is always fresh and comes out in a good timely manner. This is by far my favorite place to grab a bagel sandwich. It's a perfect location and has great seating arrangements inside and out. However, this place gets a solid 4 stars because of a specific associate that is extremely impolite and has no sense of customer service at all, otherwise this place is a solid 5/5. When ordering she seems to act as a programmed robot and asks the same exact questions in an impolite, rapid, and repetitive manner, almost to hurry you out of the way so she doesn't have to deal with you anymore. She's also extremely bland in character and is unnecessarily sarcastic when answering any questions you might have about food items you don't know anything about. It's extremely rude and selfish when I'm trying to order my meal and am constantly interrupted by this associate asking a question that can wait to be asked after I order my meal. It makes for a very confusing ordering process on both ends because I've received my order completely incorrect, due to this associate rapidly taking my order to get me out the way. I'd also like to add how she treats fellow associates. I've been here more times than I can count and have witnessed this associate being extremely rude and disrespectful to fellow workers with her tone and choice of sarcastic verbiage. I wish the associates had name tags but all I know is that this lady has blue hair and is very light complected. Also I've seen her wear an "assistant supervisor" apron. Not sure how she was given that position let alone hired in the first place because she lacks an extreme amount of customer service and politeness. A harsh but very honest truth. Absolutely love this place! The artichoke bisque is the same soup from Gino's Italian restaurant, which is my absolute favorite! Let me tell you if you eat that with an everything bagel and cream cheese your life will be set!(not pictured- we also purchased a lox and bagels) My Hubby got the godfather and thought it was absolutely delicious I liked it as well and I'm not a huge fan of salami and pastrami, but I had a bite and it was really good. My favorite and go to here is the gobbler. It is amazingly good they always have cranberry for the turkey and with the sprouts on an all Berry bagel it is definitely on point. We always get a cup of the fruit salad the pineapple and melon is always so juicy and our Frenchy loves the strawberries LOL. The only thing I wish on the lox and bagel the salmon was smoked it would make me like it a lot better but my hubby likes it so that's all that matters. All in all this is a great local place with a great atmosphere. There is one girl here that has been working The last couple weeks She is short and skinny she seems really annoyed all the time but other than that the wonderful Mexicana lady that runs the register as well as the lady with all of her 49er gear are absolutely the bomb! The prices are high, they got my order wrong and took a long time to fix it, and they, like the other places here, serve West Coast bagels (fluffy and bready, not crispy and dense). They used to be the best sandwich in town, they started using lesser quality ingredients. For example, they used to have thick delicious bacon. It's scrawny fatty bacon. Service is nowhere what it used to be. I ordered two sandwiches today. The person that took my order had a smile on her face, but very snooty, I paid for my order with a credit card, and I had forgotten that I wanted a bag of chips, before I even stepped away from the register, I told her that I meant to grab a bag of chips I would just pay cash for it and she said "as soon as these people get done" I have to go to the end of the line because I forgot something? When I got home, I found that the bacon had not been warmed up. It was still cold. This is the second time that has happened to me so I had to take the sandwich apart ended up, dropping it on the floor heat it up put it back together. We are visiting the area, and were looking for a spot to get breakfast for the whole family. We had breakfast burritos, a Philly cheesesteak and a bagel with cream cheese between us all. The service was helpful, and pretty fast for how packed it was. My burrito kept me full until dinner and it was very very good. If you like meat, get the supreme breakfast burrito. I asked a friend who lives in Salinas the best bagel shop.... I got a bacon egg cheese on pesto. Wow they gave me enough bacon to make an extra sandwich later. I also got a triple berry and a chocolate bagel for later. The bagels were very dense. The berry one was alight but they chocolate one was very very good! Very disappointed. People say top tier and best breakfast burritos. I disagree. It was big and full but the chorizo was questionably fresh. After a few bites I felt I had to throw it away. I went back and tried a bagel with cream cheese and lox. I paid an extra $1 for Asiago cheese bagel. It was very "bready" with a thin layer of lox. Two strikes you are out. read more

I have been to this place many times in the last few years. I think they have the best bagels in town. But the customer service is terrible. I have had some bad times here. A couple of months ago they messed up my order and I kindly let them know. 15 minutes went by and I asked them again and they acted like they didn't know. I told the man who had served me, the man with the beard, and it took another 20 minutes for them to give me my order. If you're a local, you know this place. Their food is always delicious. My go to is the BLT with Avocado. That thing is hefty, I get 2 meals out of it. They don't skimp on anything. I'm a sucker for a great veggie bagel sandwich and no one on the entire peninsula does their bagel sandwiches as good as the bagel corner does. I realize that this is a bold statement and that there are more than one bagel shops in town, however when it comes to the Green Earth on an all seed bagel, there is no place better than The Bagel Corner, and btw, I say the entire peninsula because I work in Monterey and still drive to Salinas just to get this lunchtime favorite. I usually have a good experience when I come here, bagels are great and customer service is alright. This time I had to leave a review because I did not like the service I received. I ordered "The Club" bagel and I found a hair in my sandwich. I called back to get a refund and after some hesitation, they agreed to refund my order as long as I had the receipt and the bagel, which I did. When I showed up for my refund, I was not even greeted with a smile or anything. The lady took my bagel from me, took my receipt, refunded my money, and dismissed me. Was there earlier today for a meal with my friends and when we got our order, my bagel was not fully toasted and drenched in sauce. I then went up the girl at the cash register with purple hair to let her know of the taste and was immediately met with hostility. I did not want another sandwich, nor did I ask for a refund, however, she then proceeded to yell at me in front of everyone. I have never exerienced such terrible customer service in my life. She had terrible attitude and clearly expressed she does not like her job. After being a patron over the years as I've lived in Salinas, I can confidently say i will not be supporting this business just from my experience with this girl. Quality has gone comeplety down. The last 2 times I've been here they've gotten my order wrong. First time, I ordered the Happy Cow with herb cream cheese, and got a plain bagel with herb cream cheese. I've been a long time customer at this bagel shop. Bagels are always good. Service is good most of the time. However occasionally I'll get a staff member at the register that's a bit testy at times. But compared to other restaurants in the area you always have that one person who just seems to rub you the wrong way. It's a lively restaurant so if you are looking for a quiet place to eat a delicious bagel it can get a bit noisy especially when a bunch of young teenagers on the way to a nearby school stop in to order and eat their bagels. The one thing that I have not been pleased with is the fruit salad that recently is offered at this place. They have introduced jicama in the fruit salad. Some may like this in their fruit salad. But when I'm enjoying a tasty chuck of cantaloup or seasonal watermelon then take a bite of jicama it just ruins the experience of eating a good fruit salad. Jicama is not really a fruit but a root vegetable that to me is very bland and the texture is like eating a radish. So I no longer order the fruit salad at the Bagel Corner. If the owners would poll folks as to whether they like jicama in their fruit salad or not my bet is more will feel unfavorable for it in their fruit salads. Owner if you read this please consider removing jicama from the fruit salads. read more

Quick stop on our way through Salinas. Super popular little spot we never would have found without Yelp. My husband and I shared the Supreme breakfast burrito which was very good, and more than enough for 2 (note that extra salsas are .50, and they only had green and pico de gallo). My daughter got the pesto provolone bagel toasted w/ butter, and she really liked it. Ordered the artichoke bisque, because I wanted to try it based on the reviews, but it way too rich for my taste. service- initial person who greeted me started taking my order and left me in the middle of ordering to take a phone call. didn't repeat the order back to me because I only half my order correct. I had got 4 bagels in total and only 2 were made right. I waited 37 mins for the food while I watched everyone who ordered after me get theirs before me. Wasn't busy either. I walked in, was greeted by everyone really nicely, I asked the cashier if it was too late to order a breakfast sandwich, she checked with the kitchen and yes the grill was still on so yeahhhh! A million apologies Bagel Corner, I have been coming here for years before realizing I haven't left a review! I love this place! Stumbled upon it between classes at Hartnell College and was smitten! The place was packed- line out the door with people sitting both inside and out. The two of us ordered simple bagels with cream cheese which were sooo good! Generous amount of cream cheese and toasted to perfection without melting the cream cheese. Each visit since then has been excellent. It took me a few delicious orders for me to find my "usual" but as long as the CINNAMON SWIRL COFFEE is hot, I will be happy. In case you missed the all caps, their coffee is a hit! SO good. The ambience is my favorite. Never a lull but never chaotic. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and FAST without taking away from the quality. One thing to "complain" about is their menu! My all time favorite item was their cinnamon-roll bagel. Yes, you read that right- a cinnamon roll and cinnamon bagel fusion. Not long before I discovered this wondrous establishment they took it off the menu! I have yet to have another like it and will patiently wait for the day it comes back even it means I need to make a special order! Despite my utter sadness about there being no more cinnamon-roll bagels, my rating is still a full 5 stars. But please bring them back! read more
