This is a neat little ice cream shop in a trendy strip mall complex in Fort Lauderdale. There are a few parking garages and parking lots within a reasonable walking distance. You can get ice cream, cookies, brownies, or ice cream sandwiches made from all of them. You can get various toppings around the edge of the ice cream in the sandwich if you so choose. One of my kids wanted just cookies and brownies. The other wanted an ice cream cone, and yep. You guessed it, I wanted an ice cream sandwich. Like most ice cream shops, they allow you to sample the ice cream. I got a Brown Sugar Ice Cream Sandwich, rolled in almonds, with chocolate chip cookies. It was messy, but really good. For extra measure, I had them warm the cookies. The cookies are gourmet cookies and are really good by themselves, as one of my littles could attest. They have a small dining area with a few tables for you to enjoy your treats. The staff there was very friendly and helpful. When my wife discovered the Baked Bear, we weren't really sure what we had just found. This was on top of just finishing a really great meal only slightly earlier at a wonderful sushi spot, and having way more than any of us could have possibly needed to eat while we were there. However, she nevertheless continued to look for dessert, and I believe that was because it was our older daughter's birthday, and lo and behold we ended up at this spot. After walking in the front door, I already knew that I was happy that we had found it and couldn't wait to try one of the endless potential combinations off their menu. This is not the dessert location for the faint of heart; these things are massive, and are very sweet and guaranteed to be very unhealthy. But that's the point! You get to choose from a huge list of their homemade ice cream, then choose the two homemade cookies to bookend your ice cream, and then you even get to choose toppings for the outside of the ice cream. It's actually absolute insanity, but in the best way possible. I was not able to finish mine in a sitting, but having nowhere to put it as we were staying in a hotel, I had to part ways with almost half of it, which felt like a waste. But a delicious waste. The staff was surprisingly friendly and ready-to-help especially considering that they were on the young side. This is something that I have come to expect frequently from ice cream and dessert places in general, so it wasn't a surprise. But what was, was that I was genuinely assisted and happy with the help that I received when it came to trying to figure out the product and what the differences between the plethora of options were. I am surprised that there are none of these in the Northeast. None that I have heard of anyway. Because this idea would be hugely successful, and I would definitely be going there frequently, especially when I want ice cream.
