    Burnt End Sandwich
    Greg C.

Seriously a pleasant surprise, hubby and I have been trying to find decent BBQ and I think we finally found one! We both had the burnt end sandwich and it did not disappoint. Juicy, had perfect balance of fat and meat, and had great flavor. Also tried the corn casserole, and it was solid. If they had a version with cheese and jalepeño I think it would be even better. Service was friendly and not too long of a wait considering we came here on 4th of July. Great mixexd crowd of people and busy! Very clean place, had indoor and outdoor seating available. Would come here again, want to try the brisket next time!

Wow! This bbq was easily the best I've ever had (although I haven't had too many in my lifetime). The space is super cool and we were able to sit and watch one of the world cup games in the half open half closed area. When you get here you order and both get your food at the same time, as they plate it right in front of you. We got the pomegranate glazed pork belly, brisket, beef cheeks, and jalapeno cheddar sausage. For sides we chose the street corn and coleslaw. Everything was absolutely delicious! The flavor of the pork belly was so delicious and the brisket literally melted in my mouth. The beef cheeks were also extremely soft and tender, but the brisket did outshine it. The only thing I didn't love too much was the sausage, but it wasn't bad by any means. Definitely recommend getting the slaw to cut out all the greasiness, as it definitely got heavy after a few bites. If you're looking for some delicious bbq in Seattle, look no further :)

After a 4-5 hour hike at Snow Lake, the three of us unanimously voted for BBQ. My son warned us that this place would probably be packed, but we were all craving it, so we decided it was worth the wait. When we arrived around 6:30 p.m., every table was full, and the line stretched all the way to the end of the building. We briefly considered going somewhere else, but after noticing how quickly the line was moving, we decided to stay. The wait turned out to be much shorter than expected. Unfortunately, by the time we ordered, a few popular items--including the prime rib, lamb, and beef cheeks--had already sold out. Luckily, we were still able to get the brisket, sausage, and pork ribs instead. Every bite was delicious. The meats were perfectly smoked, incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The pork ribs were the biggest surprise of the meal--my son even ranked them as his favorite. I still have to give the edge to the brisket, although I can't help but wish we had arrived early enough to try the prime rib. We left completely satisfied, with enough leftovers for another meal because we ordered more than we could finish. Now I'm just wondering... where can I find BBQ this good back home in California?

What a perfect summer meal! Outsider BBQ boasts a great indoor/outdoor patio setup that is dog friendly. We went at 6pm on Sunday and there was a long line but the service is quick. You order at the counter and they cut and weigh the BBQ in front of you. They recommend ordering 1/2 lb of meat per person plus sides and it was the perfect order. I highly recommend trying the brisket and you can't go wrong getting the Banana pudding for dessert. If you have specific items you want to try it might be worth it going early in the day as they do run out of some items. I will be coming back to try more of the menu!

So happy I finally got to try Outsider BBQ after hearing about it for so long! My friends and I got a huge combo, we tried a pound of every meat. There were 9 of us and it was a perfect amount of food. Meats - Brisket: amazing, great texture and flavorful - Spare ribs: great, just as I expected them to be - Pulled pork, sausages, pork belly: these were all alright. nothing to write home about. - Pulled lamb: I haven't seen pulled lamb at a bbq place before, so this was interesting. I quite liked the chimichurri sauce. Sides - Corn pudding and Street corn were my favorites. - Potato salad had way too much dill, least favorite by far. - Mac and cheese was good but basic :) - Kale salad was alright, didn't stand out too much. It was so busy that we had to wait around 5-10 minutes for a table to open up, and our food was ready shortly after that. I'd recommend eating the food there while it's warm and fresh... but if you can't find table space, eat it in your car!

I thought the Seattle area didn't really have amazing Southern BBQ until I tried the food here at Outsider! You know it's good when you pull up the establishment and they have not only a long line, but also a paper dictating what is sold out, which they update on a 10-15 minute interval. Waiting in line is the most time consuming part of this experience, as we probably waited 20-30 minutes to get to the front to place our order - which is good sign! You can definitely formulate what meats and sides you want as you get closer to the front. Parking for the restaurant is a bit difficult, I think the only options we found while visiting was streetside, and we were fortunate to find a spot only a block away. I could totally see it being impossible to find parking when it gets really busy in the area. Once you get your food, there is plenty of seating, from high tops, to booths, to tables, to outdoor seating with a fire pit. We got a good variety of items, which I'll review a couple down below: Brisket: A good brisket with a nice visible smoke ring. Similar to the pork belly, you can tell the skill of a barbecue restaurant from how their brisket is, and this brisket is delicious! Really meaty and pleasant smoke flavor. I think we did get a leaner cut of brisket as there wasn't as much fat to help with the leanness. Beef Cheek: A delicious cut of meat that melts in the mouth, and has a pleasant smokey flavor. Out of the three cuts of meat, this one was unfortunately salted the heaviest. The first couple of bites are delicious and really delicious, but it goes really overwhelming the more you eat it. If you order this, definitely get some sides to help. Pomegrante Pork Belly: A solid BBQ pork belly that has a pleasing fatty crust with a meaty interior. This is what I would consider a good baseline for a reputable barbecue restaurant. It is advertised as pomegrante pork belly, but I unfortunately wasn't able to taste any flavor of pomengrate - maybe a tiny bit in the glaze/bark but that could just be attributed to the sugar. Mac and Cheese: A pretty comforting side! bechamel sauce is really creamy and fully coats each noodle. The noodles were at the sweet spot of soft and having enough integrity to hold their shape. Cherry and Rhubarb Cobbler: Wow, this is an amazing dessert! I haven't had a cobbler where they added cardamom to the crust before, and I think it works spectacularly. The cardamom gives a nice floral taste to the crust, which is complemented by the tart and fruity filling. I think this is one of the better if not best desserts I've had a barbecue shop, and the small tweaks made were creative and delicious! In the end, I think we paid about $100 for everything you see here. Having been to a couple of BBQ places, I would say that it is pretty standard pricing. Good BBQ does take a lot of effort and it does come at a premium. Outsider BBQ is absolutely delicious - if you are looking to get some comforting food, they definitely have you covered. I would totally revisit to try their items that got sold out (missed the beef cheeks, need to try those!) the time we visited!

I mean, it isn't BBQ from the south, but it comes close. There's typically a long time and it's not fast either, so it's quite popular. You order at the front, you bring it to your table, and you bus yourself. The first time we went, we actually left but most of the items were sold out, so we came back a week later and earlier in the day. The also close quite early, around 8 or 9pm depending on the day. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and it's communal. We got the Pitmasters that serves around 4-5 people, there was 3 of us and we ate the rest the following day. I loved the ribs and the pulled pork sandwiched between a piece of bread and a pickle was delicious.

Outsider Barbecue was such an unexpected find. We were in Fremont looking for a casual bite and almost went to a brewery, but stumbled on this spot instead and I'm so glad we did. It's tucked into a more residential area near the Fremont and Ballard intersection, so parking is easy and free. The space is open and airy with garage-style doors, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and fire pits outside. It's counter service with bussing, which keeps things casual and easy. Even around 3 to 4 pm, there was a steady line, and I never saw it fully die down. Staff were friendly and confident in the menu, and one told us it wouldn't be our last visit. He was right. We ordered the corn casserole, beef rib, brisket, mac and cheese, collard greens, kale Caesar, and jalapeño cheddar sausage. Everything was excellent. The beef rib and sausage were the highlights for me, super tender with great smoky flavor, and the sauces were spot on. This is some of the best barbecue I've had in Seattle. It's not cheap, but portions are generous and the quality justifies it. Three of us shared everything, had leftovers, and spent about $150 before drinks. They were sold out of the beef cheek, so I'm already planning a return to try more. Highly recommend if you're craving solid, no-frills barbecue.

Finally had the chance to try this place and it was absolutely amazing. We went all out and ordered the brisket, beef rib, sausage (original), and beef cheek. Everything was super tender but the brisket is definitely my favorite. The sausage was pretty good too. The sides here are really great as well, and I'd recommend trying a few. The corn casserole and the mac and cheese were both highlights. We also got the kale caesar. We went around 6:30 pm on a Friday and ended up waiting about 45 minutes just to order. It was totally worth the wait though and I highly recommend checking this place out.

Hands down one of the best bbq spot. Did we get too much food for two people? Absolutley! Did we regret it? Absolutley NOT! (Left over for dinner) Was it expensive? Yes; but its expected from most bbq places. This is a legit bbq place where they done the process right. Everything we ordered were delicious! And so so so tender! We can't even pick up a piece with a fork without it start to fall apart. We got brisket, glazed pork belly, beef rib, both sausages, and the beef cheek. We also got a side of the collard green. They all amazing. The beef cheek top them all though; its just so so so good!!! The place is really chill to hangout too; really nice spot to grab food with your friends/family and just eat good food and good drinks. Ohhh and the staffs? Super friendly! This will be the spot to go to whenever we crave for some good bbq; worth the drive.

This was our second time here and it definitely didn't disappoint. We opted for the burnt ends sandwich, pomegranate pork belly, and beef cheeks for meat. We topped it off with the corn casserole and banana pudding. Everything was a 10/10! It was a but chilly when we went but they have a good amount of space indoors and outdoors. I would recommend getting there early as there is a generally a bit of a line. A top barbecue spot in the city for sure!

Incredible Texas style bbq! Everything was super juicy and tender with really bold flavors. The giant beef rib is so good and the best bite. Brisket was also delicious and I would definitely come back for the banana pudding. They have a great indoor space and outdoor patio, which is also dog friendly!

One orig sausage, one jalapeño cheddar. 1lb brisket. Fries, pickles, 1/2lb pork ribs, corn casserole.

The brisket. Oooooh the brisket. Juicy, well cooked, flavorful, and fall-apart-delicious. I think the beef rib would have been equally good based on what I saw but we didn't get that. We also loved the corn casserole (warm, soft, creamy), fries, pickles, and mmmmmmm banana pudding. I loved the smell of the place, real woody campfire smells but nothing smokey or overpowering. It had an open wall even on a cool day which looked out on a fire pit. The staff was great, nice to explain things and let me pay for dessert and grab it at the end. On top of it all we were leaving and I showed my son the open room to the smokers. The pitmaster (owner?) was right there and invited us in, showed us the setup, and explained it all. Super nice guy and knows his stuff. So why not 5 stars? Mainly because of a couples smaller misses, the price, and that I've had lots of BBQ around the country and relative to that scope it's hard to go 5 in all of washington. The price isn't unusual in Seattle and if you got the sandwich meal you'd be right in lunch range anywhere. Skip the cobbler (heavy spice...clove?), skip the lemonade (it wasn't clear it was just a bottle of minute maid for $6.50), and I'd skip the pork ribs (and I'm usually a pork-bbq-only guy) and just go brisket. Sausage had some nice flavor, but casing was a bit much and I'm more a fan of hot links. Neither of us liked the BBQ sauce that much...not bad just not anything that popped. As I write this my son just warmed up some of our leftover brisket and said it was as good as yesterday. I smell it now and I'm fighting the urge to dig in myself. Go visit, get some brisket, enjoy.

Brisker, ribs and Jalapeno Cheddar Sausage with one side. $70+ with one beer.

My go-to HH cocktail here is the Vieux Carré, but I like herbal sweet & bitter, so it's right up my alley. Currently there are five HH cocktail options and they are $7... hard to find in Seattle!
