Happy Pride!! (They offer change for drag brunch TG) I recently took my queer employee resource group to The Bar Room for drag brunch and it blew us away. Not only was the bartender, manager, and waitress so kind and patient, they made us giggle. We were taken to the second floor of the place and immediately greeted and welcomed. The environment is so cute with a vintage feel and it made me feel like home. The food has a special for drag brunch with a $75 pp so we did that, and it was an amazing deal, watch out for that espresso martini CARAFE. Once the queens (Britney Virazzano + Essense) came out there was no going back on the blast train. They were so funny individually and especially together, and treated us like family. So glad my schedule worked out that I had an appointment right across the street from The Bar Room--what a perfect find. I stopped in during happy hour and was immediately impressed. From 3-6pm they offer $1.50 Virginia oysters, and they were super briny and incredibly fresh, which is an absolute steal. To go with that, we ordered $5 Yuenglings on tap. The food was outstanding across the board: * Pulled Pork Nachos with cheddar, pickled jalapeño, and lime crema ($14) -- loaded, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. * Bar Room Fries with parmesan, herbs, and white truffle oil ($10) -- crispy, aromatic, and dangerously addictive. * Deviled Eggs with dijon, kewpie mayo, and chives ($10) -- rich, creamy, and done just right. We went to the Diane Arbus exhibit at the Park Avenue Armory. Afterward we looked for a casual place to eat and settled on this place. Very lively and really loud. They sat us in the main dining area which was nice. I ordered the burger with truffle fries which was good. Solid! My partner ordered the fish and chips also good. And another person in our party ordered the Lobster Cobb. And the last person ordered blackened chicken sandwich. Moderately priced for food. I had a glass of Sancerre. The others had martinis. The Bar Room is an amazing experience from start to finish, and it is very easy to see why it is such a popular spot! Come for the cocktails (our highlights were the Jalisco espresso martini and Infante - everything on the massive selection of beverages is incredible), and stay for the food, ambiance, and service. We have been here twice and have not been disappointed. We always go before a show around the block and the staff is always pleasant and accommodating. The food is fresh and cooked too perfection. Order the fries a little well-done and they are perfectly crisp. The oysters are as fresh as ever. The crispy chicken sandwich was delicious, burgers are perfect, and the chicken paillard was yummy. I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience here was so egregious that I felt compelled to warn others. From the moment we walked in, the staff's attitude was dismissive and rude. We were ignored for several minutes, despite clearly waiting to be seated. Once acknowledged, the host was abrupt and visibly annoyed -- as if our presence was an inconvenience rather than a paying customer. The level of rudeness was unprofessional and uncalled for. Throughout the meal, our server displayed the same dismissive behavior: rolling eyes, curt responses, and a complete lack of basic courtesy. Simple requests (water refills, menu questions) were met with impatience and sighs, not the attentive service one expects -- especially at this price point. There was no apology or attempt to rectify the situation; just irritation and attitude. We left feeling frustrated and disrespected. This is not what "service" should look like under any circumstances. You can find better food and far better service elsewhere in the city. Save your time and money -- there are plenty of places that actually value their customers. read more

The Bar Room is a popular spot to visit. It seems low-key from the outside, but once you enter, the environment is stunning. I enjoy bringing visitors here as it has an uncomplicated menu and great drinks. Now, onto the service. The team here is very attentive. It can get quite busy for happy hour. They always seem to come at the right time in the conversation to remove plates, bring drinks, and give you your order. I have booked small tables for 2-4 guests and big tables for 10 guests. If you are looking to book a huge table here, give them a call. You will get a quicker response than emailing their staff. Favorite dishes: Fries, Chips & Guac, and Burger. Our server Justin was absolutely fantastic and the cocktail menu was great. Kind of thought about photos a little too late in the game. this has a French bistro vibe. Puffy red leather booths, dim lighting, big bar out front, restaurant in the back. prices extremely reasonable a great choice for us for late night, dining, and something on the menu for everyone. Extremely mediocre. Oh, where do I even start? The nachos were flavorless and toppings did not taste fresh. At least it was a large portion, but for ~$25, it's to be expected. The burger was pretty decent but the bun was quite soggy even at the moment the burger was served to us (as if it had been sitting on a plate in the back for a while). The fries that came with the burger did not have enough salt, and the ketchup they gave was insufficient for the amount of fries. The ambiance was good if you like dark mood lighting. I hosted a 35th birthday party for my wife at the Bar Room in their second floor area. The service was five star, led by the event manager Elena Maddy who went out of her way to make every requested accommodation whether food, music or decorating related. The food was terrific -- particularly the pigs in blanket, crispy rice and maple chicken tenders. The specialty cocktails -- which were personalized per our request along with beautifully designed birthday cocktail menus -- were delicious. We stopped in for brunch on a Sunday before the theater. Although the brunch menu was not huge, there were enough choices so that everyone can find something. I started off with a cup of tea. They had a nice selection. I ordered the wild mushroom omelette. It contained aged cheddar and the combination was great. Rather than toast, the accompaniment was salad. It was really good with a lite refreshing dressing. I wish that hey had put a bit more salad on the plate. The seating is in the back room. Although there aren't too many tables, when it got filled up, it was quite noisy. It was bright and airy in the back room. They had a large skylight to brighten the place during the day. Stumbled across this place for brunch and decided to give it a try after seeing all the beautiful photos of the inside. We decided to sit inside due to this heat wave, which was a great idea. They have a very cute interior with a peacock theme on their ceiling that is stunning. We received a super warm welcome from the bartender/our server who recommend we try the espresso martini, that she confidently said was "amazing". It was unfortunately a little to strong for my taste. It was beautiful though but just wish it was less strong. If you like strong drinks, this is probably a good place for you. For brunch, we ordered the quiche as an appetizer, the fried chicken and waffles and the truffle burger that were both delicious. We were hoping that there would be some other options to order appetizers but they had a brunch only menu with a few items to pick from. I was excited to try their carafe and some other dishes that I saw on photos but seems like they don't offer carafes for brunch anymore and the menu items were different. It was a bit watered down, and didn't taste like other (better) espresso martinis I've had before. The chips and guac were also average, had an interesting spice to them like what they put in Doritos in a way. We sat outside, which was a nice set up but since I live in the area maybe I'd come back to sit inside to try other drinks and also to get better service.
