a table with a beer in it

Had a bit of time to kill after we checked out of our hotel & before our flight, so popped down into this unassuming & cozy little pub. This was the only place we went to in NYC that had a sour craft beer on tap, so I was happy. The brisket sliders were very good, with soft buns & slender pickled onions on top. They were served with a tiny bit of slaw that I thought really complimented the slider. MR T was in the mood for wings & made the unfortunate decision to order the "scorching" hot level. He drank several beers, two waters & helped himself to my water too. Next time, perhaps the "hot" would be a better idea, although he declared them very flavorful. I think he was only able to eat 4 before he surrendered. The fries were perfection, crispy on the outside & seasoned ideally. We are these until we literally couldn't eat anymore. We visited around 2ish on a Monday and there were only about 4 other patrons that came & went, and one lady came & placed a to-go order. Our bartender seemed to be the only front of house present & he was friendly & helpful. He was quick on our refills & the food came quickly too. He was chatty when we invoked a conversation but never overstayed his visits to our table. A smooth & relaxing experience which we plan on doing again when we're back in NYC.

Been here a few times. Always great drink selection (sours, ciders, micro-brews etc) but their food is even better. Doesn't get jam packed, great throw back music - alternative 90's was on when we went on a Saturday night and I wanted to sing to every song! Very laid back chill vibe. Definitely a local chill spot!

I am appalled by the reviews of this place. We stopped by due to the advertised bottomless brunch. We ordered 2 orders of bottomless mimosas, light OJ. The mimosas were all OJ. I didn't even finish one. I asked for a carafe of just champagne, couldn't do it unless I bought a bottle. So this far we are $40 deep in awful drinks that I can't even swallow bc it's all OJ. We got nachos and chicken fingers. Nachos were not good. Chicken fingers could have been good (breading was) but massively over cooked and chewy. $78 for half a drink each and two 1/4 eaten meals.

Stopped by here for happy hour on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. Small basement location with no one else inside, so was able to take a seat at any table and go through the scannable menu. Both the draft beers and small bites are $6 each during happy hour. Decided on the "Idyll Days" Pilsener ($6) to go along with the BBQ Meatballs ($6). The meatballs are six to an order - miniature in size, but dense and smothered in BBQ sauce. Very tangy and the grilled onions didn't really add much, though overall fine to pair with the beer. Bartender/waitress was really nice as she explained the happy hour and got out the food quickly. Looks like a solid place for after-work beers as there are TVs abound broadcasting sports.

No line but the food is just okay! Came here for bottomless brunch because the horny ram had too long of a line. I got the eggs Benedict- home fries were great but the waffle with poached eggs was mediocre. The mimosa had wayyy too much OJ in it. Service was super friendly! When my friend's burger was undercooked they did not even hesitant to replace it! 5 stars for service but food is not worth mentioning....

As I scroll back through my oodles of pictures, I almost skipped right over the ones from The Stag's Head. I can't be entirely blamed for practically forgetting to review this place. It wasn't because of a nasty experience. On the contrary, we had a pretty 3.5ish star (rounded down) time. One big reason was probably due to an open bar (and now you understand). You see it was back in February when my buddy had a birthday to celebrate and with work chums from the city and childhood friends on the isle, we decided to travel to the urban jungle as that's where he chose to throw his shindig. Most specifically, at The Stag's Head. More specifically, because of a package deal that included (some) drinks and (a little) food for two hours. It was relatively worth it. I say relatively because our "space" was not too spacious. Things got cramped pretty quickly with people not from our party sitting ever-so-close to our designated area. For a deal like the one we paid for, you would've thought Stag's should have had something a little more...private. The other downer was the beer selection (actually, this was also a positive so hear me out). What was shown on the menu (and part of our package) faired nicely for the craft beer scene...until you were told what they were out of. It was a tad of a "wind out of your sails" kind of moment a few times. Maybe erase those options from the board? Beyond those negatories, the good stuff made for a pretty fun evening. This included a few tasty finger food selections (sliders and such) and beer that actually was available (Grimm and Sloop being two quality breweries with something on tap). I'll also give it to the staff who were on top of their game for our slotted party time. They kept the drinks comin' quick and the grub rolling out at a pleasant pace. Overall, why three stars? I guess because Stag's is small and honestly, maybe it is kind of forgettable (open bar or not). The place has decent style, service, food, and drinks, but I can't say I'd gravitate to them when in the city again (definitely not for a party). Perhaps you'll enjoy things more fully if you go, but for me, I'll just reiterate a 3.5 for Stag's Head, in case you forgot (har har).

First things first, this is one of the best places me and my friend found during our NYC hangouts . They have a great selection of beers and cocktails. Prices look good, friendly staff and the crowd seems descent. We ordered some food as well. The food was good and filling . Initially we thought to reach during happy hour time to explore more of their menu. Even without happy hour ,the price seemed great.

Met my parents here for lunch. Do you think that watering down soap is sufficient criteria to dock a star? I'm toying with the idea. Nice try management but I'll just pump it 500 times now. I actually decided on this place bc their brunch looked dope but the waitress informed me that was just a weekend affair. Fortunately this place also has lunch specials. Double check me, either 11 or 12 bucks (reasons for my confusion explained below) for a few entree options (regular burger, veggie burger, shepherd's pie and fish and chips). Lunch spesh's come with a half pint of beer. Their beer options are crafty, website says "have a craft beer with the deer". I love a good rhyme, don't you? I settled on, in fact me and my parents all settled on the veggie burger. It's more of a bean burger actually and much to my delight, not oniony. I also ordered the cream ale. So did my dad. Ugh, they always copy me. After announcing to us that he was not going to cave to my mom's healthy-lifestyle-diet pressuring bullshit (that I ignore) he ordered a salad as his side. My mom actually asked if the bun was necessary, she saw it on another table and told the waitress it was yucky (by yucky she means refined carbs). She, (as John Oliver says) "and this true", sent me an email yesterday about "how to keep your arteries supple". This is my life. I elected for a healthy dose of saturated fat and got fries. My post-vacation-literally-eat-every-single-thing diet is going great as you can see. Waitress asked me if I wanted Cajun fries or regular to which I literally to her face replied "is that even a question?" I was going to go further with a long joke but you understand my point. Cream ale was amazing. Even my dad enjoyed it and he usually only likes light beers aka water. I actually ordered a whole pint. Veggie burger was DELISH. My BAC started creeping up at this point so details are fuzzy but that cheese and white sauce shit was super tasty. I took off the top bun as a compromise and slathered it with ketchup and mustard. I like my condiments, ok? Cajun fries were so orgasmic there's not much else I can say. When I start saying these kinds of things you can tell I'm running out of creative energy. I wonder if Cajun seasoning would be good on ice cream. Waitress was really nice, service was great. Talking about service unless it's obnoxiously bad is boring, isn't it? Weird thing is my dad and I were charged a dollar extra for our beer but it was supposed to be included. After inquiring, waitress said something about how our lunches were $12? I thought it was 11? Perhaps the cream ale interfered with my comprehension. I thought this was weird. Strangely my parents weren't as into their lunch as I was, they said it was just alright. Perhaps bc I'm a vegetarian and have no bar for comparing veggie burger to meat or bc they got the salad. Seriously if you come here, get those fucking Cajun fries.

Been going to this place for over 7 years at this point. They always have great beers on tap(beer lovers rejoice, ask for samples if you're unsure), the servers are knowledgable, and the food is good. If there's anything you're unhappy about, speak to the servers. They want to make sure you're happy when you're in this place. As a hispanic person, i really love their authentic Cuban Sandwich. Btw their Philly cheese steak rolls kick ass. Make sure to try them. I've never eaten anything I hated at this place and if there's something wrong, call the server over, they will graciously fix it and make sure you're happy. This place is great for groups and casual nights out in NYC. It is loud, but thats what you should expect from a pub.

I understand the policy and the manager was super nice to us and tried to rectify the situation but our waitress ended up being super rude in the end. They gave us a small discount but we ended up having to buy a lot of tickets to use in the future. Wasn't too happy about how things ended so would probably recommend that you go in the evening to avoid crowds if that's not your vibe and also do not book a table.

I'm going to quickly get to the downside because there are a lot of minuses with this bar. The beer is grossly over-priced. Ridiculously over-priced and most of everything on tap or in can is nothing special. Other Half IPAs aren't made of liquid gold. They honestly taste like plastic bags. There is no reason that they should be price marked at $12-14 a pop. But then on the other hand you have an interesting sounding cocktail menu with most drinks no more than $14-15. How are the cocktails the same price as the beer?! Where did I wake up today? They also charge you for charging your phone on a little dinky machine that was plopped next to me on the bar and they apparently charge $5 for playing trivia? None of these things make sense to me in my brain. I can do all of the above for free at any other place. Moving on to the pluses, I intended to only stay for 1 drink (I went the cocktail route obviously because I'm not about to pay double the price for a beer) but we surprisingly were caught up in a feel good moment and stayed for 3 rounds. The ambiance is nice. It feels homey. Like in the sense that I'm in an ultra expensive little nook in Brooklyn that perhaps used to be a little bookshop vibe but then you're paying Manhattan prices. We ordered for the most part Old Fashioneds and the last drink I switched things up and tried their RoseBud: Vodka and house-made rosewater lemonade. The mix was unique. It was sweet and salty and a little floral but not too overwhelming. Delightful cocktails. Happy hour I think is $2 off of drinks but it ends early at 6pm. I didn't explore the food menu but it seems medium priced of burgers, sandwiches, fries, etc. Worth a spot checking out but I wouldn't be a regular. Key word is laid back and cozy.
