I left a negative review previously due to an off putting interaction that I had with a barber who struggled to hide her enthusiasm on the day of Charlie Kirk's assassination. However, I was impressed and pleasantly surprised a couple of weeks later when I received a call from the manager of this location. She apologized profusely and assured me that interaction should not have happened and will not happen again in the future. She understood that I might not want to return, but hoped to keep my business. I always use the Barbers in Happy Valley, OR (Maddison is amazing). My shop moved and now am down the street from this location. I have now tried it twice now with different barbers each time. First experience wasn't horrible but didn't live up to the expectations I am used to from going to multiple other locations. Felt like I was in a high production 7$ an hour joint. Hair cut wasn't bad though. Today was a different story! Char, whom I believe is the manger of the location according to the business card she gave me at the end of the cut was terrible. Every aspect of my experience had me wanting to walk right out. I got "The Works". They cut your hair, trim your beard, wash and condition your hair, Strate razor shave the back of your neck, and rub your shoulder at the end. That cut witch normally runs between 25 to 30 min depending on the barbers chatty nature. I was out of there in 11 min. Thats after the two min she was on her phone while my head was in the sink. My head is still spinning. Not only do I have long missed hairs in the side and top of my head but all through my beard. Also have never felt man handled like that. Maybe because she was in a hurry but you can dry my hair without giving me whip lash lol. Also trimming the side of my hair ramming the trimmers into my head like a crazy person. I might have looked like someone who offended her at some other point in her life. IDk but defiantly will not be giving that shop any more business after this experience. Do not go here !!! You should call this place the butchers!!! They completely screwed up my hair and didn't care. They cut my hair un even and tried fading my hair with scissors!! Quality haircut and friendly staff. The prices are fair for the quality received. No high pressure sales to buy products. Signature cut includes a massage but it is only a handheld machine- wish it was an authentic massage- that is the biggest negative point to this business. read more

Has great service and helped with a shoulder ache I had. They have high end hair products, skilled employees and great equipment. Didn't have a hair pulled out, got a shampoo at the same cutting station. Prices are very reasonable for service provided. And my hair stylist was a hoot to talk to. Tom (?) was very pleasant during my call to schedule the appointment and also during check in. What really won me over was the amazing service provided by Jennifer. My adult son has Asperger's and struggles in most social interactions. I explained to her, the length of haircut we wanted and that he wanted "the works". I let her know that he sometimes needs to have questions or comments rephrased, but gave no other explanation regarding his social skills. She was nothing short of phenomenal. The two of them had great conversation during the entire service, like they were old friends. To see my son interact with a stranger who seemed genuinely interested in whatever random things he brought up, brought my mama heart to tears. She went above and beyond when she handed him her business card with her schedule, so he can return to see her for his next haircut. I have had my beard trimmed here three times now and I must say not impressed. Walked in with a beard that was 3" long and they messed up so bad that I had to have it trimmed to 3/4". If you need to have beard trimmed go somewhere else like a real barber shop. Also I would like to add the the so called barbers are not friendly and not a single one has even tried to initiate a conversation. Tried this place again, wish I wouldn't have. One of the worst haircuts I can recall in a long time. I was actually nervous as the barber started to use the clippers because she seemed to have zero skill and jumped around my head with no rhyme or reason. Hoping the scissors to blend would be better, nope. And as she trimmed up my beard she gouged one side to the point I had to go home and even it out myself. Do these barbers just not care and treat this like an assembly line to get to the next customer, and potential tip, as quickly as they can? Also had to remind her I asked for the works as she was about to forget my shampoo and neck shave. Probably because she was too busy talking about herself and money. I found The Barbers by random chance just after moving to the area and it's definitely my new go to haircut place. Beyond the obvious result (they did a great job cutting my hair), it's just a unique and very well done service. Neck shave, massage, shampoo and all right from the same seat. The woman who cut my hair was passionate about what she does, skilled and friendly. All around win. Doesn't hurt that it's all reasonably priced too. read more

Never going back again. First off, called in and asked for appointment with my regular barber but couldn't understand what the person was telling me except for "appointment at 1:30pm, see you then". Once I got there, I realized the lady answering the phones, put me down on her schedule instead of with my regular barber. Since I did not see my barber there, I figured she was off today. I then told the barber to trim the sides with a skin fade on the backside and not to take anything off the top. Instead, I got a completely different cut and when I tried to correct her, I could tell she struggled understanding what I was telling her so she just said "okay" and continued cutting it her way (I'm also a foreigner but have been in the US for over 20 years and understand the difficulty of English as a second language). In the end, I was in and out in 15 mins and was then asked twice if I wanted to buy products that were on sale... Not sure what is happening at this location but this is the 2nd time I've been treated this way here (first time about a year ago) but was able to work thru that and get my hair style dialed in. Love this location. I was first introduced to the The Barbers when I lived in the Portland Hollywood District back in 2008, and I have visited many locations over the years. What makes this location a win is the conversations past the standard pleasantries. All guys are concerned about keeping a full head of hair and Char understands the complexity of making that happen. This is a wonderful place to get a haircut. Clean, friendly atmosphere and the wait times are really never long if you go at off hours. Every one of the ladies who has cut my hair has been friendly conversational and done an excellent job. It's so nice to have a good place where I don't have to make an appointment. I can just walk in when I have time. The Works is a great deal with the shampoo, cut and neck massage. I especially love having my neck trimmed with the straight razor. read more

I had the worst hairicut experience. I have been to this location twice with no issue, but today negated any good service that I have gotten. I went in for a free neck trim, and here is what happened: 1. I made a reservation so I was seated right away 2. She starts cutting my hair without putting a towel or the normal cover so you don't get hair on your clothes. I asked her if she could cover up my shirt so that I don't get hair everywhere. 3. She pulls out a blow dryer and gets hair all over me covering my pants and inside of my shirt. 4. She puts a towel over my shirt which didn't really stop any hair. 5. She makes a comment "well this is what you get for having a lot of hair and asking for a free haircut" I will never go here again! read more

Great friendly place for a fellow to get a haircut! The wait can be a bit long on Friday and Saturday evenings so plan for that if that's when you want to go. I've been going here for a few years now. I always get a great cut and they do a great job of remembering so you don't have to give the long story how you want your hair cut. I always get the neck shave and the shoulder massage at the end. The ladies who work there are very professional and are serious about their craft but are still friendly and can have a nice chat with you while your there. The lines aren't long but if you are in a time crunch, you can call ahead and have your name put on the list. They are usually exact on estimating the time it will take to get in the chair. This was my first time in this establishment. And I will not be coming back. I tell the lady I want a 4 on top and 3 on the sides. She the repeats it and I confirm that's what I want next thing I no. Atmosphere was good and friendly, overall experience was good, however I was not happy with the result. I got a head shave however it felt like she only used clippers.
