For my first major remodel, choosing The Bath Studio as my design and logistics partner was THE best decision. My 90s master bath was in terrible shape. I now have a functional bathroom that I enjoy using, is easier to clean, and has a lot of storage. I had a meeting with Julie where we discussed cost, potential time frames, and I decided to move forward. Julie came with a contractor to take photos and measurements. We scheduled a couple sessions and went through all the pieces and parts for several hours. Their office has a ton of samples to choose from and contrast / compare. During the meetings, Julie was creating a visual model so I could see the layout and make adjustments aesthetically and logistically. The Bath Studio produced a binder with a layout, all part numbers and vendors, and reference of where to put outlets, drawer handles, how to lay the tile, how many tiles to order, mirror positions, and dimensions etc. etc. They ordered all the parts, told me how much space I needed to store it, and parts were delivered to my garage as the demolition of the old bathroom began. Fred went through each item that was delivered, and also highlighted info that other customers had asked and the couple parts that were on backorder. Laura followed up on those, and it did not impact the time frame at all. The treatment I got from the team made me feel like a Real Housewife of San Ramon! As other Yelpers mention, there are 2 contracts: 1 with The Bath Studio and 1 with the contractor. From the construction execution side, the team was punctual and professional and it was fairly easy to get in touch with them. I was impressed with the demolition and installation of the electric infrastructure, the cabinets, sinks, linen closet, lighting, floors, accessories. The team always cleaned up after themselves which was very much appreciated. No remodel goes perfectly I guess. There was a problem during the build-out of the shower that caused some damage to my downstairs ceiling. There was another execution mishap later that took several weeks to get closed. Because I had partnered with a pro like Julie I remained confident the contractor would address these, though it was stressful. So - if you are looking to tackle a renovation and don't have the bandwidth or experience to lead and project manage the design and logistics, I totally recommend The Bath Studio. read more

Fourth generation living in a small two bedroom one bath home. Always had vision of moving wall and creating space for a normal size shower. Cannot say enough good things about our experience with The Bath Studio. We have a 2nd bath that is smallish, was fairly hideous (gold, cave like shower) and then got torn up because of a plumbing issue. We need to get it redone entirely and really didn't know where to start. Saw an ad for The Bath Studio, looked at the good (though mixed) reviews and thought we'd start there and feel out the place. From the start it was a good experience. We came in and Julie clearly laid out the process, what we could expect, the different decision points (and the cost for not proceeding at each point - very reasonable). We then booked a time for Julie to come to our place to measure, assess and advise. This was very quick after we had come to the shop. She had some great ideas as to what we could do with our small space. She then had one of her associated contractors (they are independent but work often with The Bath Studio) come out, review and prepare a bid for the installation piece. Julie actually thought the bid was high and had a different contractor come out later and bid (and they did come in lower). Next was the best part of the process. We went into the shop and in 2.5 hours we picked out everything - tile, sink, hardware, floor tile, accent strip, shower floor, pencil trim. Julie provided invaluable guidance in all of this, helping us think through and picking complimentary colors/materials. This would have taken us days of visiting different places without the consolidated approach. Another great part of the process - once date is agreed on with contractor (based on their schedule as well as when all materials will be available), all materials are delivered at once on the first day (so no delays in any of the construction due to waiting for materials). Very happy with the construction. Went smoothly and quick - under 4 weeks total. We shared timing and cost with a contractor friend who was amazed by timing and thought the price was at minimum competitive. The Bath Studio isn't really involved in the construction process but they did help when we had one issue - shower glass folks put in wrong hardware and when brought to Julie and Laura's attention, they immediately coordinated to have the supplier come out and fix. We now have a great looking new bathroom that we love and at a good price and a process that was efficient and painless. read more

Called in advance to find brass cabinet hardware in a specific brand because I am remodeling my kitchen. They told me they had some and I asked what time they closed at. Drove 45 mins to their location and was told they don't sell retail. Wasted my time. Thanks. Update: I never said to any sales person about plumbing, tile backsplash and countertops. Mine were already installed by a contractor so that is a lie. I specifically asked about the knobs, brand, closing hours, that's it. We just completed a full master bath remodel and worked with the Bath Studio. Our experience was magnificent! My husband and I visited 3 different shops, and once we went to the Bath Studio there was no doubt in my mind who we were going to go with. The Bath Studio wasn't the cheapest, but they were also not the most expensive out of the three places we visited. What set them apart was the service. Julie invested her time and extensive knowledge with us from the start, and made us feel extremely comfortable and confident. The day we came in, we were overwhelmed and confused, and this is where she excelled, where the other shops failed. One of the shops wouldn't even talk to us unless we made an appointment and also pay for a designed , the other one completely lacked the proper knowledge and was all over the place. The cheapest place was a joke, the lady was on the phone with her husband for half the consultation, and her products were of such bad quality some of the samples she was showing us were cracked and broken. When we walked into the Bath Studio Julie welcomed us and without pressure and guided us thru the initial process without any conditions. You can truly see that she enjoys what she does, and that she has the experience that can truly make you feel comfortable. During the process she worked with me tirelessly showing me options based on what I wanted. She would pull out samples on the lower, mid and high price end so I could have choices, and NEVER did I feel pressured to choose any but what I truly wanted. Julie kept all her commitments, assisted me with making my ideas into fruition, and also helped me with a contractor who was also terrific. She met with us and the contractor at our home, she created a book for us to ensure we had it all available to look back on and verify or show and tell, and after we ordered the product thru the shop, she and her team stayed in touch with us thru the entire project. I was quite scare about such big endeavor and she was with us every step of the way. She kept us informed of everything and was very transparent about possible set backs and what to expect. Once the project started, I received a call from her or her team EVERY week to check in to see how the project was going, to see how the contractor was doing and to make me feel at ease. At one point I decided that the drain I had purchased from the Bath Studio didn't quite work well with the other shapes and ask if I could return it, not only did she take it back, but she sent one of her people to pick it up, and gave me a credit to my card. Now, that is service! My other fear was safety. Safety with the contractor coming into my home. Julie recommended someone she had worked with many times, gave us references, and met us with him. The contractor was amazing, at all times I felt safe in my home with him and his team, they were so professional and pleasant. They did an amazing job putting it all together. I cannot say enough great things about this experience, we had minor set backs, but nothing that wasn't taken care of right away and without a hitch. The Bath Studio is worth every penny, not only do they have an incredible inventory in all range of prices but there's something you cannot put a price on, and that is the service, and the peace of mind I had thru the entire experience. We had an outstanding experience working with Julie and her assistants at The Bath Studio. They are very, very knowledgeable and have a tremendous resource of materials and products in the showroom from which to choose -- from flooring and counter materials to lights, hardware, sinks and more. Ours was a 1970s master bath that badly needed renovation. We knew from the 1st no-pressure, no-cost interview that we had found the right place. Julie allowed us freedom to develop our own preferences but also contributed her invaluable knowledge, advice and good taste as we requested it. She patiently helped us through several consultations until we were completely satisfied. We then left with completed plans, drawings, cabinets and all materials ordered, and a referral for the best contractor I've ever worked with. All our plans were completed in a timely way, exactly as we planned and with zero cost overruns! Unbelievable. Our final result was so much better than I even hoped for. 1st class! We needed to get our 1980's era master bath remodeled, so we talked to The Bath Studio. At first, to be honest, we were a bit surprised at the price, so we also got a quote from ReBath. Rebath's quote was $25 thousand higher than The Bath Studio, and we got the impression that it was pretty much pre-fab solutions. I guess it just costs a lot of money to remodel a bathroom. We went with The Bath Studio and we were very pleased with the personal attention and advice that we got from Julie. She guided us every step of the way, and had a very good, systematic process for helping us decide on the many different designs, fixtures and materials. She made sure we had the proper expectations for what would happen and how long it would take. When the installation started, we were handed off to Laura and our contractor Leo. Leo found that there was some dry rot under the old shower pan due to leakage. He was able to fix all of that for very little additional cost, Laura guided the process every step of the way, and made sure we were kept informed and consulted with any changes or issues that came up. All in all, we are very thrilled with our new bathroom and truly appreciate their working with us to make it "our" bathroom, specifically designed for us. It was wonderful to work with a team that made us feel like our project was their highest priority. read more

Julie, the owner/ designer of the Bath Studio, has helped us with our master bathroom's remodeling plan. We eventually did not use her design, and lost the $1,500 deposit in the process. Here are the summary of our experience dealing with her: Pro: Julie is patient and experienced in designing bathrooms using the materials in her showroom. Her showroom represents many different styles that many people may find creative and attractive. If you want a no hassel experience and willing to pay for it, she would fit your needs well. Cons: Please be mindful that unless you have a budget of at least $40K for an average master bathroom's total remodel, without moving walls, you'll be batter off going somewhere else. The materials that Julie uses for your remodel would have to be purchased from her at a 25-30% premium. For example, a floor tile that could be bought for $5/sq ft, she would charge $7.5/sq ft. This would be the case for all fixtures, cabinets and counter tops. This is a way for her to offer her design for free. Personally, I would rather just pay a designer on an hourly basis, and purchase materials from different vendors. Because she only chooses products that she is familiar with or have them in her show room, you are somewhat limited in your choices of materials. If you pay her any deposit, don't ever expect to get it back. She never allowed us to have a copy of her design, elevation drawings, or material lists. This has created a problem when we needed a contractor to provide us with a construction estimate using her design. Only when you pay for all the materials, then she would furnish you with the necessary blue prints, designs for your project to move forward. In our case, after we decided not to use her design, we did not get our $1,500 back. We also did not receive any design plans or material list. From our point of view, it was a total waste. read more

I visited the Bath Studio in person to learn more about their design services. I was referred by MTI Bath, because the Bath Studio is a dealer or reseller. I have an excellent contractor and team, but need more design than what my team offers in-house. I began to describe my project to a designer at the Bath Studio as still in need of a design. However, the moment I mentioned that we had ordered cabinets from a cabinet maker and some of our plumbing fixtures, the designer stopped me. She said she is only interested in doing projects where she has control over the entire design, which includes choosing the cabinets and plumbing. I began to describe my project in more detail, because I thought if she knew the scope she would reconsider. However, she stopped me again and said she is not interested in my project and that I should try the HOME DEPOT. I wasn't offended, because I do love the Home Depot. However I am in the midst of a 500k full renovation (kitchen, dining room, formal living room, fireplace, main bedroom, three bathrooms, laundry room, mud room, creating a new hallway, and adding a staircase). Although the rooms have undergone demo and the walls are down to the studs, we have the ability to take our time to design a house that will be a home. Despite my experience, I am still looking forward to working with a designer to pick lighting, sinks, counters, windows, doors, mill work, tile, and hardwood floors (I very much like the interior design of the Ritz in HMB, and some of the resorts in the Napa Valley). I had hoped that the Bath Studio would understand this esthetic, and be happy to work on my project. However, judging by their attitude, and seeing the pictures of their renovations, I now understand that it would not have been a fit. read more

The first time we showed up at The Bath Studio looking for ideas for a new vanity we arrived 15 minutes before closing time on a Saturday. We thought we'd just breeze through and leave. However after we met one of their designers, Julie, she assured us we could stay and look for as long as we'd like. And she was genuine about it too. Before we knew it, Julie was listening to our ideas and then showing us all sorts of concepts from their very spacious and well stocked showroom. Then we really decided we'd get into it. Julie got our kids some coloring books and we began designing the bathroom of our dreams. The best part was that we NEVER felt like Julie was trying to up-sell us anything. She listened and then took our ideas and helped us make them better. When we were done, we had a plan that is better than anything we could have thought up on our own - and it was 1 1/2 hours past closing time. I've just read some of the other reviews and must say I was surprised. To those who thought the price was too high, I've learned from experience that you get what you pay for. I agree that you pay a bit more for the materials purchased through Julie, but it's the worth the expense, considering the time and frustration involved if I were to do all the selecting and shopping of supplies/materials, and the coordinating of their delivery with the start of the project. When I first met Julie, she walked me through the process and I knew exactly what to expect. I told her I wanted mid-range priced materials, and those are exactly what she selected for me. If I wanted to cut cost somewhere, I had the option of choosing something less expensive. If I wanted to put my money into a higher upgrade, she helped me with that too. I knew going in that if I decided not to go with her selections/design and choose another designer/contractor to do the work, it would cost me her designer fee, which is only right and common throughout the industry. Once I gave her the go-ahead, she promptly ordered everything and it was only when all the supplies were in the warehouse that the job began. Some places start a job and then tell you an item is no longer available or back-ordered. Resulting in the project being delayed while a replacement is found or until the item is delivered. I explained to Julie that given my past experience with Home Select in Danville, I wanted to make sure that only licensed and bonded workers - no day laborers- worked on my project, and she set me up with A. W. Davis Construction, who were positively A+ Everybody she uses is licensed and bonded, so no worries about having to leave home while the work is being done. They even set up a lockbox out front, so that If I had to go someplace early, the workers could let themselves in. Julie was quick to respond to any call or emails and never made me feel I was a bother. Her design totally transformed my bathrooms! I can't begin to explain how happy I am with them now. Lauren, who works with Julie, contacted me weekly to see if I was happy with the work to date and would give me any updates on the project. Without a doubt, I'd choose The Bath Studio all over again. It surprises me that there are people out there who expect someone to spend time selecting products, checking on their availability, and completing a design -taking many hours- and complain if they get charged for it. After a thorough comparative search of local bathroom design/build contractors we chose the Bath Studio to remodel our 20+ year old master bathroom because of their deep design knowledge and breadth of fixtures, finishes and materials to choose from. Julie, the owner, and designer was a pure pleasure to work with along with her project management team. Her contractors were the best we have ever worked with. They were punctual, professional, and true craftsman who did an outstanding job. The only hiccups were permitting mistakes by the Town of Danville and an external roofing contractor who did not do a quality job relocating the bathroom skylight. In one meeting in their showroom, we selected everything for our project! When we came back in to finalize and place our order, they had put together a binder with drawings and details needed to construct our new bathroom. The Bath Studio stepped in to help me create and finish 2 bathrooms. They had to negotiate with my very uncooperative and at times very incompetent contractor, totally wrong or changing information from the contractor (they told us to order a bathtub with the drain on the R and then decided they had made a mistake after the tub arrived and wanted the drain on the L) and my very limited budget. Julie Turner and her staff did everything in their power to walk me through the process with great ideas, extra help on many occasions (special orders for tiles, hand drawn plans) and a lot of patience. I constantly checked prices at Home Depot and Lowe's and, yes, sometimes things were cheaper, but Julie has the information and they will order the best and most reliable product for you. They also recently helped me (3 years later) with a replacement sink stopper, free of charge. I really believe that they have their customers' best interest in mind and they will go out of their way to work within your budget. read more

Upscale bathrooms and prices with low quality customer service. We love our new master bath that was "completed" in December 2010. We were told our job would take 3 weeks and it took months. It's May 2011 and we are still having problems with getting the shower to drain properly. Once we paid for products (100% up front) customer service evaporated. Lots of excuses (when phone calls were returned) and finger pointing of blame between the Bath Studio and the contractor. Would we use them again....I think not! read more

We recently completed a powder room remodel and worked with Julie from The Bath Studio for much of it. Our experience was a positive one. We have our own contractor with who we work, so we really just needed to come up with the design and purchase the materials. We talked to Julie who had some great and very practical ideas. We actually stopped in a few shops, and Julie identified potential challenges and solutions which none of the others thought of. We found a granite and tile backsplash at The Bath Studio that we did not see anywhere else, and Julie helped us track down a remnant of the granite. We also went through her for the cabinets. For some reason, we were having trouble finding modern white cabinets that weren't in a free standing furniture style, which we didn't want. Julie came up with a good option, but we weren't ready to pay the price. We then went to multiple other sources, but none had cabinets as nice, in appearance or quality. Those that we're close we're in a similar price range to Julie's. We went back to Julie and told her we'd go with her, and then she even managed to find another cabinet we liked even better that cost a bit less. The Bath Studio isn't cheap, but a lot of what Julie quoted us was not far off from what we saw at other higher end places. Julie has a great aesthetic and had some really good ideas. The only error she made was a minor one where she ordered only one piece of end trim when we needed two. And then she made good on that by sending her husband the next morning on a road trip to get and hand deliver the piece. Our bathroom turned out beautiful and unique, and the quality of the materials really shows. It worked well for us to use our own contractor, and we did buy some of the smaller hardware on line, but we would go back to Julie again for good ideas, and to buy some of the more major components. She earned our trust with her demeanor, her knowledge, and her hard work for us ( and patience with us!). read more

We engaged The Bath Studio to do both of our bathrooms. The style and the materials chosen were excellent. It was based both on our desire for quality products and on our budget. Julie and Fred Turner were honest and open about what they could provide and did great follow-up with the contractor and materials. They were flexible too as we changed our mind a couple of times during the project. Products were delivered on time and we loved the results of the design. Customer service was excellent and their follow-up was always right on target. You can tell they are very concerned about customer service and pleasing the customer. I read the owner's rebuttal. A month after the install I received a VM, most likely to my not so favorable criticism here on Yelp of The Bath Studio establishment. I could understand if someone called the day after the install as if they actually cared. It wasn't as if someone was offering my money back or something partial. Again, my wife and I did the leg work, dealt with the shoddy contractor, had sub-par service from the studio. The mark up was a rip-off. I told her that I needed it soon and she guaranteed me that I would get them in a 2-week window. The prices, which she offered were "at discount" was really a hike of about 10% more. Well, 2 weeks turned into 6 weeks and when I called to complain about the timing, I never received a call back from her. We had to do our bathroom inspection with borrowed pieces from her store. Not only did I pay more for the fixtures when I could have gotten them online for much cheaper but had to wait for such a long time to get them when I could have gotten them within 2 weeks elsewhere. read more

We completed a bathroom/vanity remodel on Oct 2014, and we are very pleased we chose Bath Studio to help us with the project. Julie, the owner and designer, recommended products which exactly fit our tastes and quality level, they dealt with us with integrity and honesty, and the support staff ordered and delivered the products on time. The measurements taken were error free, the software drawings helped immensely with choosing the right look, and all cost considerations were reviewed up front. I would like to add some comments related to some of Bath Studio's past reviews. One needs to understand that they advertise to deliver upscale bathrooms, not what one can get from a big box store. Their markups are high because they include the interior design fee, project management, and a store which carries a lot of product samples. One has to expect the higher prices and no discounts! The ownership does have strict business policies, contracts, and practices. They were not a problem for me but I can understand how it could be unnerving to some people. We remodeled two bathrooms with The Bath Studio over Feb-Mar 2017. This was our first major remodel and we wanted to go with a reputable outfit. The Bath Studio allows you to use your own contractor, but we do not know one so we used their suggestion of Tony Marchand. First a review of The Bath Studio and the owner Julie. Julie is very experienced. Extremely detail oriented. Very up-front about pricing. Her estimates were extremely close to actual costs of the products. I liked the detailed binder with the specs of all ordered products, and the information about the remodel. She does a sketch in VISIO of where all the pieces fit in the bathroom. This made for a seamless handoff to Tony. Her experience came in handy. She knew the kind of niche to buy that already has a slight slope built in for drainage. She knew how to order a custom vanity for an odd-sized opening. She knew exactly how many tiles to buy and what kind. She knew how to order "remnant" pieces for the vanity top. So many little details that were value added. The Bath Studio was also great about storage of all the parts, scheduling with the contractor, and timely delivery. Lastly, she put us in touch with Tony Marchand who I will review next. Tony and his team are extremely professional. They know what they are doing. Only three people were ever in my house and I found them all friendly and knowledgeable. There were no hidden costs or price gouging. The estimate was pretty much dead on. He is excellent with the details. We have had no problems with the remodel, though we had some issue with the tub. Tony fixed it right away with no questions asked. I appreciate people who stand by their work. I found him to be trustworthy and honest. Overall extremely pleased with the bathroom remodel. These are professional people who care about doing a good job. Both the contractor and The Bath Studio are smoothly running outfits with lots of experience. I would beware of cheaper places that miss the small details and do not stand behind their work. I would highly recommend The Bath Studio and Tony Marchand to anyone seeking a remodel. read more

What was supposed to be a 4 month bath remodel turned into a 9 month horrible experience. Julie, one of the co-owners, mismeasured several components, causing delays and loss of more than one desired feature. She did not ask our preference on things such as what side a cabinet should open, further delaying the project. The tub was delivered before the contractor was ready, and the person delivering it scolded me for this, despite th fact he did not call the contractor to see if he was ready. The most outrageous incident was when Julie accused me of fabricating a meeting with her to select a different paint color. When she found her mistake in her online notes she did not apologize; she simply said, "I'm sure it will look good." She was truly not helpful in selecting colors, fixtures, etc. We were extremely disappointed in the entire process, and cannot look at the finished product without remembering how horrible it was to go through (since they only take cash, once you start you are essentially stuck). I cannot recommend strongly enough that you run in the opposite direction if you consider using The Bath Studio! (Only gave one star as no star is not an option) read more

We first decided to go The Bath Studio in San Ramon because they were the only Bay Area company that was listed as a dealer for Riobel faucets, a Canadian manufacturer of kitchen and bath fixtures with a limited number of USA suppliers. It was then that we met Julie Turner who is the primary design consultant with The Bath Studio and company president. We were immediately impressed by her familiarity with the huge variety of products they deal with and her experience with all aspects of bath remodeling projects. The Bath Studio is apparently a one stop shop for everything you need for a bath remodel although they can also assist with kitchens and any project that involves cabinetry. The small showroom is packed with lots of displays of all sorts of cabinetry, fixtures, tile, countertops, etc. We passed on our project information to Julie and made an appointment to meet with her after she had time to go through the material. At the next meeting, Julie had prepared a complete proposal for the full project and spent literally hours with us going over it and modifying it on the spot to get exactly what we wanted. She offered many helpful suggestions that reflected her vast experience base. Her positive attitude and friendly nature provided a comfortable atmosphere that helped us easily narrow in on our preferences. Julie Turner is a true find and we enthusiastically recommend her and The Bath Studio to assist with any project. All of this said, we ended up not continuing any further with them on our project only because the estimate we received from them was high and we were not able to find a way to work it out although we really would have liked to have continued with them all the way through to completion. read more
