"Man Forced to Pay Half Price for Shower Door." Yes, it's true. A neighbor on Nextdoor recommended this company and I decided to give them a try. The estimator came out promptly, and to my astonishment, the estimate was $1,000 less than a competitor. Don't you hate that when the estimate comes in half the expected price? I especially appreciate the fact the estimator explained to me some safety precautions. No one else had explained that to me. He explained the safety code regulations regarding inside handles, and the danger of injuring yourself. The installer came out very soon and I now have a beautiful shower door enclosure. I've always said that to really understand the character of a business, it's not about whether there are any problems or not, it's how a company responds to a problem. Alcosta Shower Door installed a shower enclosure and 3 mirrors in my master bathroom 6 years ago. We woke up last weekend to one of the mirrors falling off the wall and crashing into pieces on the floor. For whatever reason, the mastic didn't hold. In talking with one of the owners of the company, he said that in over 40 years in the business, he'd never seen that happen, and I believe it. What made matters worse is that the warranty is only good for 1 year. That makes sense, because if anything is going to go wrong, it's probably going to happen in the first few months, so 1 year is typically fine. Alcosta could have "hid" behind the expired warranty, but that's not what happened. They decided they would stand behind their work and cover it under a warranty that doesn't exist anymore. That's what I call stepping up! Alcosta has done work in 2 of our bathrooms, and we're going to have them work on the 3rd in a couple of months. They have always done excellent work and have added the finishing touches to our projects. But most importantly, they stand behind their work! I can't recommend them enough!!! read more

I called and inquired about replacing our Steam Shower Glass Door. I had done a touch of research, and requested a quote for "panel/Door/panel" with an operable transom, clear glass and diamond seal. I forgot her name but she seemed to be head of the call center and receiving desk; she correctly advised me the options I was asking for were a bit pricey, and there were some alternatives an options with upsides that could bring the overall price down. I had asked for an operable transom and clear glass. The clear glass would have been almost unnoticeable without white tile, and the door can be left slightly ajar to accomplish the steam release that the transom had been intended for. She sent Phil to come measure, after I had agreed she knows more than me in the subject, and was willing to take advise on how I could reduce the cost of my glass. Phil came, he very carefully measured the finished opening for glass, and made a few recommendations based on his immense expertise. I could tell he was an expert because he had prompt responses that told me he knew what he was doing, and that I was in good hands. I always get nervous at these points in the project, and asked Phil flat out if I was doing the right thing in my selection, he said yes without a second thought, and I completely agree now that I see the finish product. We ended up doing panel/door/panel, with top and bottom hinges to minimize the visual component of hardware, and the cost! The price was about 1,000$ cheaper than the also recommended competition, so I would not hesitate in choosing Alcosta, just make sure you have a rough idea of what you want, and they will take care of you. It really is nice having "nice things" as practical as a shower door, that you get to enjoy every day. This was one of those purchases that makes me enjoy being an adult. Called around to other local glass shops which were all busy and seemed bothered you called them. Not with Alcosta glass. They answered the phone, gave me a fairly priced quote over the phone, and sent someone out who knew exactly what they were doing right away. Price stayed the same as the phone quote for a 7'X4' mirror and it was installed the next day in only 15 min. These guys are total pros so don't bother calling anyone else and you will save yourself the frustration and added expense of dealing with people who don't seem to care if you patronize them or not. read more

I highly recommend. This is a family business that takes pride in their work. As they should! Their prices were the most reasonable around and the quality was better than the door my contractor had installed for me when he remodeled my bathroom (and that one cost $400 more). The other company installed doors that had several areas with nothing guarding for leaks between panes or against wall. Alcosta Shower Doors are well sealed with a special strip of something that is hard to notice. I didn't notice it for a few days! My shower walls are not straight and one side was at a slant of about 1.75". I was sure I would have gaps - but I didn't! I couldn't be happier with these doors. I purchased one custom swing-door and one sliding door style. Both were installed perfectly. I added the diamond seal to my orders and have been very happy with it. If you're in the market for custom shower doors, the guys at Alcosta do a nice job, are friendly and it's a family business. They did the glass in both our bathrooms -- one an extra tall glass enclosure with a door and the other a European style shower "screen" on hinges. They came out and measured, then it took about a week to custom make the glass to our height preferences, then they returned for the install. They have a coating you can get for the inside of the glass that makes it resistant to water staining buildup so you don't have to go wiping down the glass after every shower. They give you a bottle of special cleaner to occasionally use on the inside of your glass only, and when used with a microfiber cloth it has been very effective. It has a lifetime guarantee. Yes custom doors are a little pricey....but they are nice thick glass, made exactly how we wanted them, and look fantastic. read more

We had a shower door installed by Alcosta Shower door (Hmm, that sentence sounds kind of redundant :) ) and the work, workmanship, and the treatment on the phone, in person (the wife and I visited the small showroom/office) was excellent! Bill talked us thru the options at length (thickness, clarity of glass, coatings, hardware, seals, mounting choices) and was very clear and upfront about things to get, and things that were pricey and not truly necessary (He was happy to sell them to us if we wanted though) I got a good feeling about the business right away. Ted came out to the house and did the measurements and he was very professional and pleasant as well. When it came time for the install Eric and James showed up right on time and had the door in in about an hour, and as before, both of them were very professional and pleasant and worked like lightning! They definitely knew what they were doing! After the installation, care and feeding of the glass was completely explained (even though Bill explained it all to us when we visited the office) and they left a bottle of the special cleaner and instructions. Who knew that a squeegee was bad for shower glass? I didn't before they explained it too me :) They cleaned everything up and the only thing they left to mark their passing was a beautiful shower door! :) I would definitely recommend Alcosta Shower Door to anyone who needs their services. I love using local businesses and even more I LOVE finding contractors that give me peace of mind and do stellar work! Small business.....I beleive in taking care of the hard working people. Came and measured on Friday....told me 3-5 days. They will call 2 days before. 7 days goes by. I have to call....they tell me the installer had a baby....Great news for him....so when are you going to call me and say you can't install it? I was surprised by the recent negative reviews, but Alcosta Shower Door was one of the few glass companies to actually call me back when I asked for a quote. Since we had a construction crew at the house everyday, I had them let Phil, the estimator, into the home without me. After taking measurements Phil called me to discuss his ideas for the enclosures. He even left a sketch of his plans on-site because I couldn't meet with him at the time. I appreciate that he didn't try to up-sell me on the colorless glass and he explained clearly when and why we'd need a headrail for one of the doors. His quote was a third less than other companies I'd gotten quotes from. I couldn't be there for the installation, but the construction crew didn't report there being any problems.
