We rotate lunch spots for our monthly meetings - this month's choice was The Bayou Affect. I had never eaten there, but one of my co-workers raved about it, so I decided to give it a try. I called to place the order (4 meals: 2 salmon, 2 pasta with wings) on Wednesday afternoon for pickup on Friday at 11:30 (I also paid for it during the call). Total for four meals: $113.00 I arrived today at 11:38 AM, deciding on the way there that since they opened at 11:30 I would give them a few minutes to make sure the orders were ready to go since our lunch meeting was at noon. When I arrived, I gave them my name and told them I was there for the pickup order. The front person did not know what I was talking about. Another person (I assume the owner) told her that it was a call in, and that the order was on the side of the register (it was). I was told it would be a few minutes. At 11:47, the front person comes to me and asks if I was in a time crunch because they could deliver. I told her that I was and had to be back at 12. At 11:56, she comes back and asks me if I would like to substitute lamb chops for the salmon and there wouldn't be an addition charge. She said they had just put the salmon on the grill. At 11:56 - it had been almost 20 minutes since I had arrived to pick everything up. I told her no substitutions because the people who ordered salmon had dietary restrictions. There was no offer of a beverage while I waited, no additional updates on a time for my order or anything. At 12:12, I finally got the orders, an apology for the wait, and an offer to take a drink on the way out. All of that to find that the pasta was too salty. I didn't even eat most of the meal. If this were not a company-sponsored lunch, I would have cancelled the order and gone somewhere else. This is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. I don't mind waiting for food, but this order was placed on Wednesday afternoon. Today is Friday - there is no excuse for my order not being at least halfway ready when I got there. I will not be returning, and my company will not be ordering from here again. read more

The girls at the front were incredibly helpful and sweet! They made a few recommendations and they were good! Food took a while to come out but was really tasty when it arrived! The Bayou Eggrolls were delicious! The shrimp platter was tasty without any additional sauce (although a bit salty) but next time we may ask for some cocktail sauce? The restaurant only has 3 tables for 4, so it seems most took their food to go. Overall we would go again and will likely make it a regular in our rotation! Came in for restaurant week to give this place a try. Got there during the lunch rush and waited 45 min for our order, so definitely phone your order in if it's during the lunch rush. The place is small with only about 4 tables so we took ours to go. The food was pretty great. We had the crawfish pasta with lamb chops. The chops were pretty good but the sweet sauce made them much better. The pasta was a hit. It came with standard boudin balls and the fried pound cake dessert was a great finish. This was plenty of food for two people. It's a bit out of the way but worth a trip. read more

The shrimp platter was great. The Philly egg rolls & fried catfish were amazing. The pasta was really good but it needed a little salt. The wings were also good and made up for the lack of salt, but the bigger the wing the longer it takes to cook. The biggest wing in my batch was raw when I bit into it. We waited inside for our food. The wait wasn't horrible , but wasn't short either. Tbh, it was a uncomfortably, warm inside the place so we chose to eat in the car... (not sure what's going on with the air, but my boyfriend had visited before & said it was the same then.) The service was ok, just a simple order & wait while music was playing. I have to ask: why was my food cold if I had been waiting in person the entire time? That is simply unacceptable. The staff seemed disengaged and disorganized. Three employees stood near the register, which was chaotic and uncoordinated. No one offered an update or showed any sense of urgency. Frankly, I felt like I was inconveniencing them by simply being there. The food only made things worse. The egg rolls were tough and inedible, and the wings were underwhelming and lacked flavor. I spent $45 on just two items, plus a tip, and left with food I could barely eat. While waiting, I watched at least three other customers express frustration over delays and order issues. I tried to order ahead on the clover app but the Friday Daily special was not an option. Specials for Monday - Wednesday were the only ones Iisted. So i then tried calling and no one answered after a very long time. I arrived and one customer was walking to car empty handed (presumably just ordered), i could see one inside waiting and one entering ahead of me. She wasnt ready to order so i went ahead. The cashier hit the buttons so quickly i didnt get to register my phone number to my purchase. I then asked to go back so i could get a receipt. She printed one and i noticed the special listed at 21.50 on there but $20 online. She said the prices have changed. I would advise not to promote it currently at one rate if it's not current. She told me 2 mins wait time. I went to the car to wait 15 minutes and then placed a second order. This time she allowed me to enter my phone number then i noticed this "special" was also being sold at a different price from what was advertised. The food never disappoints. We did one seafood pasta with fried fish & one with chicken wings ($23.50). - Update they reached out via social media and fixed the situation. I appreciate them for doing so. The fish was fried nice and soft not too crunchy. Very large portions. The wings were good flavor. They honey butter croissant is always so soft. Unlike popular food critic Keith Lee, my experience was amazing. I ordered the lamb chops and they were seasoned perfectly. They were slightly overcooked (this is probably my fault because they sat in a to go container for about 20min) yet still very tender and juicy. I got yams and mac and cheese as my sides and the mac and cheese was pretty standard nothing special but the yams were out of this world! These were the best yams I have ever had the pleasure of eating. As for the service, it was ok, there were 2 employees who appeared to be working their first shift ever, so I didn't mind. I have the biggest place in my heart for good soul food, so I was super excited to try The Bayou Affect. I was expecting a dine in option, but it's only takeout. It was only about a 20-25 minute wait and you can order ahead, but if you don't, there's space to sit and really good music to vibe to the while you wait. The food smells way to good to make the drive home so be prepared to grub out in your car. I ended up getting the Saturday deal, 1/2 rack lamb chops (4) and 2 sides - mac & cheese and loaded potatoes and also added yams because I just had to. There lamb chops were absolutely AMAZING, so juicy and tender just... chef's kiss.. The only thing to really disappointment me was the Mac and cheese, it really needed more flavor, I couldn't taste anything. The loaded potatoes and yams were very nice for sides. I finally tried this place. My husband picked up a to go order of Thursday special- Lamb Chops. The food was good but I know I would've enjoyed it better had I eaten it right when it was done. Traffic was bad so it took him about 45 minutes to get home. The chops were seasoned well and the sweet sauce to go on top was very good. The chops were kind of small. It came with 4 but I probably can eat 8. For my sides I had the broccoli and loaded mash. Where should I begin?? I heard of this restaurant on a trip to Baton Rouge in September 2022. It just so happens I had to return there in March 2023 and heard about their Soft Opening near LSU. I'm so happy I had an opportunity to experience this food and I'm sure this review will not accurately describe the quality and portions of the food at this restaurant. You'll have to experience food this good to believe it. Absolutely delicious creole pasta, lamb chops, seafood platters, bayou egg rolls, and their specialty martini. So I went to this place on Thursday (June 30th) with a craving for some red beans and rice. I already checked them out on yelp and reviewed the menu before coming and when I get there the cashier told me "We out of red beans, we only have it on Mondays". So I ordered something else (Two piece fish with Mac and cheese and yams) which was really good! The fish was seasoned well and crispy the Mac and cheese was bomb and the yams were sweet but they were mushy like baby food for some reason. So I went back again today Monday (July 4th) to try again with the red beans. I get there around the opening time and ready to order and the cashier (Lala) tells me that the red beans won't be ready until 1:30pm. Mind you the place opens at 11:30am and I'm wondering why the food wasn't already prepped and ready to be served. Like what if you had a company ordering from you for lunch and you tell them that? So okay whatever I ordered my food willing to wait because I really have a taste for some red beans. As I continue with my order getting ready to order my side the Lala rudely tells me. "The specials don't come with sides" and I'm like "Well can I add a side?" and she responded "yes". 2 hours later and I get my food, get home ready to enjoy and I was soo disappointed and disgusted actually.
