Wait. How have I never reviewed Willie's I feel like I'm always here. My in-laws love this place. This is like 1 of two places they'll eat at Service is ALWAYS excellent. From hosts, to servers, to food runners everyone is always taking care of us. The food is literally perfection every time! My husband orders the same thing every time, the signature poboy with a side of Mac and cheese. I typically get the boiled shrimp which is good, I prefer a little more seasoning SOMETIMES! Sometimes the taste is perfect sometimes I think it needs more spice. I dip them in butter and love it either way. And their apps are good too. Crawfish toast. Gumbo fries. Mozzarella sticks. We came to this amazing restaurant to celebrate our uncle on his day. The service was great and the ambiance was very nice and gave a family vibe. This is a great place to come for Sunday brunch or dinner. We started off getting their crawfish which was just okay. It could have been spicier and more seasoned. It came with potatoes as well which were pretty bland. My entree made up for the crawfish, however. I ordered the fried chicken with waffles and it was fantastic. The chicken was fried to perfection, hot, and crispy and I loved the buttery, sweet waffles. Willie's definitely delivered where it mattered most: the crawfish. I started with 3 pounds and before I knew it, ordered 2 more. That alone should tell you how good they were. The crawfish were flavorful, seasoned well, and priced right, which is honestly the perfect combination when you're sitting down ready to eat. They had that messy, not really spicy, addictive quality that keeps you reaching for "just one more" until the tray is empty. I also tried the buffalo wings. They weren't that great, if I'm being honest, but I was hungry so they got the job done. The crawfish are clearly the star of the show here anyway. The atmosphere felt relaxed and unpretentious, exactly the kind of place you want for seafood with friends, cold drinks, and a table full of shells piling up by the minute. I recently went to dine. I Started off with appetizers of fried crab fingers, Orion rings and hush puppies. Both appetizers were not good crab fingers were fresh and unseasoned served with a cheese sauce that wasn't good either , hush puppies were small and hard. Nickel size not half a dollar size. I didn't order my entree after this experience. The service was horrible waitress wasn't there most of the time and had to be asked to return to our table. I read the yelp reviews and was expecting to taste cajun flavors since we were visiting Louisiana but we were disappointed by the lack of seasoning. I guess I was expecting my shrimp would be covered in cajun sauce but it came plane with cajon seasoning and a dipping sauce on the side. We also tried frog legs which was tasty. Then came the tasty alligator bites that bit back after being tossed in a spicy sauce. I went with the seafood potato, and it was everything a crawfish and shrimp lover could dream of. It was loaded, flavorful, and gluttonously satisfying with crispy red potatoes covered in crawfish, shrimp and CHEESE! It was great but it needed some moisture (so pro tip - ask for a little gumbo gravy. You're welcome lol). The shrimp po' boy was stuffed harder than a Thanksgiving turkey. The Cajun Queso was INCREDIBLE!!! Afterwards, we split the Thursday special - smoked chicken and chose coleslaw as our side. The chicken was delicious and perfectly seasoned. The coleslaw did not meet my expectations however, I AM a coleslaw snob so seriously not complaining. I just asked for a side of mayo and doctored it up to my liking. This has become our go-to seafood restaurant in Baton Rouge. Everything is always so good. The fried shrimp is to die for.

We had a 7:30p reservation but didn't need it. The place wasn't overly crowded on Sunday evening. The atmosphere is very inviting...like going over to family in Louisiana. The hostesses were polite. Our waiter was prompt. Our food was hot and everything was delicious. We didn't have to wait too long for it all to come either. Most of the menu items are named after someone which gave it even more familiarity. Definitely will be back...there's a soft shell crab special on weekends that we didn't even get to try because the kids ate it. read more

Starting off with drinks, I normally don't get alcohol so I was impressed by how many mocktails they offered. I was disappointed, however that my drink was supposed to come with boba and they did not tell me there was none until after they already made the drink. The rest of the food was delicious with generous servings!! We definitely took a lot of leftovers home. My only thing would be that when they have something loaded like the fries and the potato, the amount of cheese is almost overwhelming. I ordered an old fashion and the boiled shrimp with sausage and hush puppies. The shrimp was boiled and seasoned to perfection. The shrimp were fresh and very delicious. This is some of the BEST crawfish I've ever gotten at a restaurant! Not too spicy, not too salty, and super juicy. The onion rings were also some of the best I've ever had. The food came out super fast and the service was great! I WILL be coming back before crawfish season is over! They do have a crawfish sauce but it was too spicy for my liking. We were expecting like jalepeño poppers. The boudin egg rolls and fried alligator are great Although the alligator might be under-seasoned a bit. I'll start off with the good. The service was ok. Waitress maybe just a little too much, but I'd rather have one at the table too much than not enough. I didn't have the seafood stuffed potato, but it looked overstuffed and enough for three meals. My MIL enjoyed it. Now the not so good. The crab bisque was too thick and salty. I felt like it had been re warmed a few too many times. It was just a goopy mess. The pistolette that was served with it was warm and crispy. That's a plus. My husband and I had a quick early dinner at Willie's on a recent Saturday evening. The place was nearly full by a bit after 5 pm, but we were seated immediately in the patio area. I figure that any place with a crawfish master must have excellent crawfish. While we didn't order crawfish, those 3 lb platters seemed to be a favorite for a large number of dinners. We saw lots of large platters piled high with the crustaceans, and big rolls of paper towels on the tables. I ordered a local beer on tap and a bowl of (chicken and sausage) gumbo. I'm glad I asked the waitperson about the size of the bowl before ordering something else as well. The portion size was enough for a meal for me with its included roll and crackers. The gumbo was a bit salty, well-flavored, but not spicy. My husband had a glass of house wine and a club sandwich. This came with a side of homemade chips. The sandwich was served on a soft roll that fell apart. The chips were great (I stole quite a few!) but too salty for both of us. Willie's menu includes a wide variety of appetizers, sandwiches, platters, and sides. The drink list is accessed from a QR code on the menu. There are happy hour specials available on weekdays only. The patio area where we were seated was very live; the screaming from a couple of nearby children reverberated in the room. Service was excellent. Let me start by saying that I don't know what has happened to this restaurant but the change is AMAZING!! From the decor, new layout, patio.... All AMAZING!! There also seems to be new menu items. Kudos to whoever is responsible for the updates. I tried the corn ribs and they were so delicious that I ordered another round. The side potatoes were good too! My family said the Buffalo alligator bites were good. The crab paws were some of the biggest I've ever had. They were fried perfectly. I didn't get a picture of the boiled crawfish but I really enjoyed them. Perfect blend. Not overly spicy and just the right amount of salt. I enjoyed the added sausage as well. The only downside is that I wished the potatoes for the crawfish were cut in halves. I will definitely be back! read more

We're going to this place because it showed up on both of our radars when we were looking for a place to eat in Baton Rouge. We're looking for something relatively affordable, kind of old-school, and definitely New Orleans cooking. Unfortunately, the results weren't that great. When we walked in, the first red flag was that the parking was not busy, and this was at 8 p. m. on a Friday night. I walk up to the front and ask for a table of three. We walk past one room, halfway full, to another room, about one-third full, to another room with less people, and then to another room, all by ourself, and kind of a covered patio on the back. Then we just sat there for about four minutes until a very nice waitress came up and asked us for drink orders. We got the alcohol within a minute, but the waters took another five. At this point, I'm starting to be like, "Should we even get be here? " I don't think this is going to work out very well, but we decided to stay. My wife got the hamburger because she just didn't trust anything on the menu, and that's her default. I decided to get the fried chicken with a side. She wanted to get a po-boy, but for some reason they don't have fried shrimp po-boys on the menu. it's bizarre that the most popular kind of shrimp on a po-boy fried isn't available. It's only grilled. Secondly bizarre is the fact that the fried chicken is only dark meat. What if you like white meat? Anyways, we get our food, and the portions are pretty generous. The burger was basically a generic Cisco burger. Pretty overcooked, okay flavor, but really pretty tough. Basically, you could get that at Denny's or somewhere else. As for my fried chicken, I would call it basically an attempt at KFC with maybe a hair more spice. The side of the red potatoes thing was a good idea in practice, but they put cheddar cheese on top, which becomes sort of a solid lard mass at the end. It makes it hard to enjoy it. They have a uniquely odd thing called corn ribs, which is basically if you take a piece of corn that's been in the boil, slice it a couple of ways vertically and then fry it for a second. It's kind of cool idea, but I wouldn't say it's particularly good. I had some bites out of admiration for the creativity. The real bummer came at the bill. We spent $75, had solidly mediocre meals, solidly mediocre service, and a pretty dank atmosphere. So, unfortunately, we did not have the best time. read more
