We were visiting Baton Rouge and looking for a new place to try. I looked on TikTok, yelp, and google and this place had good reviews so we decided to go. When we pulled up, we realized the parking lot was full( it's a shared parking lot), but we were able to find a spot. There was only one other family dining in when we arrived, so there were a lot of empty tables and our waitress sat us right by the bathroom and the storage area which I didn't appreciate. When going to a restaurant no one wants to look at your storage area. I think they need to put a curtain up or something to cover all the supplies because it isn't aesthetically pleasing. On to the food and drinks. Our waitress started us off with some water, but my mom and I didn't drink it because my dad said it was nasty( you know certain areas tap water may taste/ smell funny and I don't blame the restaurant for that it's more of a city issue). I ordered a pink lemonade and my parents had Arnold palmers. I ordered the Fried chicken Orleans, my mom had the hamburger steak, and my dad had the mornay. All the meals came with a breadstick. My food and my dad's food was covered in sauce. He had fish but you couldn't even see it because of how much sauce was on it. They could definitely cut back on the sauce and maybe not pour so much on top of the protein. For me, it made the batter on my chicken get soggy quick. Flavor of the food was ok, but it could've used more seasoning and the sauce could've been thinner (it was pretty thick). My dad felt like his fish was overcooked and could've been seasoned more. My mom enjoyed her hamburger steak and didn't have any complaints. All of our veggies were cooked well. Prices were fine. Overall this place is just ok to me, I don't have to go back. read more

Where to start? Haven't been here in over a year & decided to stop in for casual dinner on a Saturday at 7pm. When entering, there were boxes stacked up near the hostess stand and many unbussed tables. There were only a few tables occupied. We ordered the mushroom appetizer to start. Underwhelming. Then ordered a Cuban with extra crispy fries and a catfish po'boy. It took waaaaay too long to get the food. The server came by a couple times with "updates". There seemed to be a steady drive thru business & it appeared it was being prioritized over seated diners. The food was meh at best. My fries were cold & soggy. This was my first time at Jasmine's after many recommendations, and I can't wait to go back! The service was excellent, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was cozy. The restaurant is in a strip mall, and there aren't very many tables, so I was glad we got there early-ish for dinner to snag one. While we were looking over menus, we saw they have some food happy hour deals and half-price bite deals for that between lunch/dinner time. Our waitress let us know that there would be a little bit of a wait with how busy they were, so we were prepared to wait a bit for our food. We started with the crawfish bread and crawfish beignets and they were both full of crawfish flavor. I got the chicken Orleans pasta and the chicken breast was thick and huge! The crawfish cream sauce needs to be bottled and sold to take home because I would put that on everything! The bread pudding was perfection. We had ordered the cookie dough spring rolls too, but when we were told how long the wait would be with the amount of items in line for frying, we decided to substitute them for the Mississippi mud pie. Friends and I decided to visit Jasmine's on the Bayou. It was my first time dining in and their first experience. The restaurant decorated with swamp pictures of native birds and alligators, but was sparsely populated late on a Thursday evening. Our waiter was friendly taking drink orders, but needed some skills, especially about the menu and customer service. The Restaurant Week menu was disappointing, as it included most of the same items on the menu. One of my friends ordered off the restaurant week menu. The rest of our party ordered off the regular menu. I ordered appetizer of fried mushrooms and the pot roast with garlic mashed potatoes (also offered over rice) and haricot vert. My buddy ordered the same with corn, crawfish bread appetizer, and bread pudding. From the restaurant week menu. His girlfriend ordered shrimp and corn soup and his son ordered the Jasmine's Trio as his entree, which is an appetizer consisting of 2 mozzarella sticks, rocket shrimp and crawfish beignets. The fried mushrooms were delicious and came out piping hot with dipping sauce however the crawfish bread appeared to need to remain in the oven a bit longer. The cheese was not melted. The consensus on the crawfish bread was mixed. It had a honey based sauce which made it sweet. It was different than expected. The star of the entrees was the pot roast! Cooked to perfection like grandma would have made, tender and full of flavor. The gravy was flavorful and enhanced by carrots and onions with the garlic mashed potatoes. My buddy and I liked our sides of corn and fresh seasoned green beans (haricot vert). The bowl of shrimp and corn soup was delicious and ample for a meal. The Jasmine's Trio was perfect for a meal and the star was the rocket shrimp! We all agreed that we would return and try the seafood items from the menu. Jasmine's on the Bayou has been an open for a long time and is a community favorite. I look forward to my return visit! read more

The food & service are totally awesome ... the wine & beer are not overpriced so the entire meal is very affordable ... they also have a nice happy hour variety. I have dined at Jasmine's several years ago and it was good so I thought another visit would be good. Had dinner on a Monday night so not too busy. I ordered the seafood pasta. When it came out, it looked as though it had been sitting up for about 20-30 minutes. Then the seasonings and flavors were just not there, tasted like frozen seafood. Really disappointed, had hoped it was going to be as good as I remembered. My wife had the panini, it was anemic, maybe add more meat, it was mostly bread. Another disappointment. Jasmine's knocked it out of the park tonight. We were on the hunt for some good seafood since it's Ash Wednesday. We opted for the Voodoo Rolls and shared the Seafood Platter. The Voodoo Rolls really packed the flavor and were freshly cooked. They were cheesy and had great seafood flavor. The Seafood Platter was served with a mound of crinkle cut fries, a fresh breadstick, fried oysters, a few strips of fish and a bunch of fresh shrimp. In addition to that, it also came with a cup of crab and corn bisque and another side, so we opted for the sweet potato casserole for a little sweet treat. The fried seafood was cooked perfectly. The bisque and the sweet potato dish were truly delicious. My only critique is the fries. Crinkle cut fries are my favorite, and these were really undercooked. Had they been cooked well, I would have dominated them. The restaurant was comfortable, family friendly and the service was wonderful. This pot roast was perfect for a rainy cold day. Came with a side and was served on top of mashed potatoes. A good amount of food for a decent price! Service was so quick! 3rd time is not the charm unfortunately. We desperately wanted to give our little neighborhood restaurant a good review, but after the third time, we made a pact as a family, we will not go back. First time husband had food poisoning second time was just mediocre and third time it was terrible. Our little server was nice and very responsive I will give them that. Our youngest got the fried shrimp and it was unedible. Usually, we're like oh it's fine, but when my husband tasted it, he even spit it out in his napkin. yall this place is fire. one of the best places i've visited in a while. it's such a nice restaurant on the inside and out. when you enter you are greeted with a warm, clean, and good smelling environment. everyone is very cool and kind. the food go crazy. as an appetizer we had that rocket shrimp and artichoke dip. i'm not a huge fan of artichoke dip but this place makes it good. i personally had a half and half gumbo and poboy. both were so good exactly the taste i go for. i'm gonna add pics but you'll see what i mean. 10/10 would come back again read more

I happened to visit in an attempt to experience restaurant week. Everything was delicious. I ordered the chicken cracklin, redfish mornay, and tiramisu. The cracklin was really good. While the Asian sauce was nice, I'd go on repeat just for the freshly fried cracklin with no sauce. The blackened redfish with crawfish and shrimp creme sauce was so good. It was served with green beans but would have paired well with a pasta like fettuccine, also. But let me get into those green beans. I could have been satiated with just a whole plate of just green beans. They were fresh and whatever garlic oil they were cooked in was oh so delicious. Arguably the favored part of my meal. They seemed very busy for a Tuesday evening but the hostess that seated us and the servers were all super nice. We started with the rocket shrimp and Asian chicken cracklins and both were ok. A little overdressed but still good. I had the catfish with étouffée and it wasn't really seasoned enough for me. The fish was a little fishy and the taste was just a little off. My husband had the seafood fettuccine and same there. Not a lot of flavor. The sweet potato side was fantastic but the broccoli was just steamed and had zero butter or salt. Both came out looking like they had sat for a while bc the top was kinda congealed. The employees were all working so hard bc this was restaurant week and people kept coming in asking for those menus so I get it. The bread pudding was good but the sauce was thin. The tiramisu was great. I was so upset and disappointed with the food today. We ordered debris fries, a burger and rocket shrimp and fries. The debris fries weren't good at all. Something about the recipe has definitely changed. There was a load a pot roast dumped on top of the fries. I also asked them to add jalapeños and I got them on the side. The pot roast wasn't as seasoned and it was way too much and watery. My fries were extremely salty. There was so much salt that even after I tried to brush it off, it didn't help. You could literally see all of the salt. My burger wasn't good. It was very bland and the cheese taste like slices out of the pack. My husband's food just okay. I also ordered a Arnold Palmer and it was so disgusting. I almost threw it up. My water cup was also dirty. The new building looks very nice but it was uncomfortably cold to me. read more

Ordered take out for work today, and was pleasantly surprised. For the price, the lunch portion of the shrimp and grits was sizeable with a lot of shrimp. I think i would have liked the grits a bit less runny, but there were plenty of shrimp hiding in there. They were also way over salted, but I know gauging the salt level in these dishes can be a bit difficult. The broccoli was obviously just defrosted from a bag and the bread was super soggy. First time here in 2024. With the cold temps I had a late start so this gave me the opportunity to dine in at Jasmines before going to the other side of town---since many places were closed due to todays articles blast I called ahead of time and was greeted with a cheerful Jasmine's, we are open today so we went. Restaurant was half filled which I thought was good with the weather---seated quickly and waited on quickly by a polite young man who brought my drink order efficiently while I waited for the rest of my dining party. Jasmines has a nice looking lunch menu on a wood plank of sorts as well as their total menu on paper---many daily lunch specials where you select an entree with a side---about 10 different lunch specials and 6-7 options for sides. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and it was filling and tasty. Also ordered was the spaghetti and there were no complaints with this entree. This was the first time I had dined in the new part of the restaurant and I must say. I approve of the ambiance. If Jasmines was located closer to my work address I would be here more often.
