Everything about this place was absolutely exceptional. Starting with service! The woman that greeted us when we came in and took our order, is one of the sweetest ladies ever. I just kept telling my husband after each small interaction with her "oh my gosh I just love her". It's an incredibly warm and inviting space, and I wish we lived closer just to be able to experience that alone more often. But lord have mercy, the food? They knocked it out of the park!!! We sat on the covered patio, which was clean, comfortable, and a great place to enjoy a meal. Now, the food. This is where it really shines. The sauces also deserve some recognition. All four were fantastic, each with its own unique profile. Honestly, I could've just sat there sampling them on their own. Located on the turn into Pisgah National State park, Hawg is clearly a favorite, and placed in just the right spot to bring in locals and tourists alike. The Eastern basket, as it was called, included a BBQ pork sandwich on a bun and two sides. The marinated pork and drizzle of extra vinegar was plenty to flavor this delicious sandwich. A side of their fresh fries and hushpuppies rounded out the meal. With plenty of BBQ favorites including Ribs, burgers, brisket, and fried chicken, a hearty, delicious, filling, and quick meal feels perfect after visiting the nearby Pisgah park and relaxing on the river in an inter-tube on a beautiful summer day. I went here years ago and forgot how bad it was.
