The Beacham has a lot of things going for it, but is poorly managed. I missed most of a concert there because they started the show two hours before what the tickets (bought the day before) said. Completely unacceptable. Luckily my bad experience prevented one for some friends who caught a show there several days later--once again they started a show well before the scheduled time. I have never heard of a venue that starts shows early, but if you're planning on attending please keep this in mind. Update: I got my money back by going through TicketFly, but Laurin Fedora the marketing/booking guy completely unimpressed me. He got caught double booking an event without telling people who bought tickets for the moved act. I'm sure they made more money--just issue a few refunds to the people who complain, rinse, repeat. It's a scam. Also, completely agree with the bizarre trash can stuff. Every few minutes some security guy would surge through the crowd with a trash can. It was nuts. I used to come here every Sunday when I lived in Orlando. Sunday is Latin night and they play reggaeton all night in the main room. They play salsa/bachata in the smaller room. Sucks having to pay cover since I don't even drink alcohol, but for alcoholics, they can totally milk it for the free drinks. The music is super loud so I always wear ear plugs. People start dancing around midnight. It's weird because it's mostly people staring at each other, and then all of a sudden it gets super packed and everyone's dancing, so there's no in-between. read more

My friend and I went to Andrew McMahon to see him do an acoustic set with his other musician friends. It was amazing. Andrew McMahon is spot on, his voice sounds exactly the same recorded as he does live. The artists were funny and of course talented. They put humor and heart into the show which made it such a great experience. The venue is ok, nothing too special, standing room, on concrete, and you're shoulder to shoulder with everyone because they really pack it in. There are plenty of bars to buy an overpriced drink though. Bathrooms were trashed after the show of course but I wasn't too surprised. I'll keep coming back for acts I love but wouldn't go just for the venue. read more

Awful sound system! The bass was cranked up way tooooo high which distorted all the other instruments. Mic's were terrible too, over all it was like listening to music playing in another room while under water. If that wasn't bad enough, the A/C was cranked so high that it made it extremely uncomfortably, it must have been set around 50 degrees!! Unless you want to be cold and hear one of your favorite bands sound terrible on awful speakers than don't go to this place. read more

I agree with the other folks who rated two stars. It was bait-and-switch. I love GLove but he got the shaft because of the bad raspy sound (which I heard was *rented* from Firestone). Still the old stinky Tabu nightclub with crappy beer; using the name the Beacham to bring in shows. Restore this beautiful theater to its original glory; or at least get rid of the filthy stinky carpets, add good beer and sound! (even Firestone live has decent beer). Still 50-50 whether i'll go back for the Dap Kings, since I've seen them before in much better settings. The best place downtown for shows is the Plaza Theater Live. The owners of Tabu/Beacham need to take notes and find a way to upgrade. read more

I attended the G.Love and Special Sauce concert last night at The Beacham. Last time I visited this place it was still Tabu, but that was years ago. I understand it is still a club, but now they also host live performances. When you first walk in the establishment it appears they haven't put much money into "sprucing" up the place. It also has a weird smell. There are plenty of bars to get drinks from, which is a bonus during an event. Two once you walk in the door, two larger oval shaped bars once you enter the event room, and one on either side of the stage. Drink prices are typical to downtown clubs, but I can't get over paying 5 dollars for a miller lite. ouch The place packed quickly after the first band. The music was good, however the stage lighting was poor. It doesnt promote taking pictures as the giant red signal style lights wash out your camera. They carry most mixed drinks but beers are very limited. I wasn't trying to get drunk, so I stuck with the miller lite. All I could chose from was: corona, miller lite, bud, bud light, coors light and heineken The hidden secret is the bar next door which you can get to by entering a tunnel on the right side of the event room. This bar hosts some high top tables and chairs for socializing, it also has a small stage for performers but last night just a dj was present. The bar has a better beers selection too! Yuengling, blue moon, new castle and a couple others I can't remember. The tenders are efficient and nice. However, this is the smoking area. The bathrooms over there are better too, so keep that in mind if you don't like the bathrooms in the main building. But, im a guy, we don't require nice facilities. :) All in all it was a good time and I would go again, the people tend to be obnoxious, but there is one in every crowd. read more

Do yourself a favor, don't do it. Walked in and had to be searched and had a metal detector wand ran over me, which makes me wonder what kind of stuff has happened at this place in the past. I walked in feeling like I had entered a trap house. Plus the place was pretty dead, nobody really dancing and a lot of standing around. Granted, it was about 11:30 when I went, but I would expect a little more at that time. Also, the bartender completely ignored myself and my friend. I stayed for about 10 minutes total. This nightclub is to ghetto for my taste + the cops are always parked out in front of this club, since fights break out on occasion.

I bought two tickets to see Active Child and M83 (the headliner) on November 2, 2011. The tickets I purchased have 9:00 printed on them. I arrived at 10:00 (after driving from Tampa) to see M83 play their last song and walk off the stage. Apparently, the opening band started at 8 and M83 at 9:30. I was not the only one who missed the entire show (thanks to the 9:00 time printed on the tickets). The talk in the back of the venue, in the ladies' room, going out the doors and on the sidewalk, was about how everyone felt "jipped" because the first band (and subsequently) M83 started an hour before the time printed on our tickets, which ended up with most people missing the show. Additionally, we had to contend with the staff dragging trash cans through the crowd to get ready for the club goers outside (who apparently bring in more money). With any luck future artists/managers will see this review and think twice about booking in this venue. read more

The worst concert venue I've ever been to. They always start before everyone is inside and it's freezing. I've been here 20 minutes after doors and missed entire sets from bands I actually wanted to see. Before anyone thinks "well you should have been there on time," know that starting as soon as doors open is not normal. Look it's Tabu with a new name. Sorry I had to say it. You were thinking it. If you are a local then you know what Tabu is and if not well then welcome to The Beachum. Let me just say that all the up-lighting in the world is not going to fix the issues of this venue. First things first the bar on the left hand side of the stage doesn't carry all the liquor it should, the bar itself is out of place and awkward, especially if you are trying to order a drink during a live show. If The Beachum was smart they would make it some kind of VIP bar. Technically the music sounds bad because they haven't upgraded the speaker system to work with live music instead of DJ's. Three-overall the bar tenders were a little rude and looked like they didn't enjoy their job. I would say this place has the potential to be a great live music venue just needs more work. read more

With continuous events and live music, Ownership should probably be doing fairly well financially. That being said, why can't some interior improvements being made to clean this place up? It is probably the worst smelling venue I have been to in a long time. It smells like piss and vomit every time I've ever come here and this seems to be common knowledge for the local patrons. Put a little effort in to create an environment where your loyal customers want to continue to patronize. New paint and floors and regular thorough cleanings would do this place wonders. read more

I wished I could give a more glowing account of the Beacham. I've been going to this dive bar for way more years than is reflected on Yelp. I really wish touring bands would find a new venue to play in Orlando, but they must have a great booker because they get good bands. That's why I keep going back even though my husband and I argue the pros and cons every time. It once was a gorgeous art deco styled theatre and has promise, but not as a music venue. The acoustics are horrible - unless you stand in the middle of the room you barely hear above a roar. I watched soundman after soundman try to fix or make it better - they always fail miserably. They offer you PBR for $5 - to me, that's just wrong. The bartenders do tend to be very busy and very nice. Most of the time, they run out of any good beers early in the night. Bathrooms are also an issue - very reminiscent of the ones you tried to avoid in High School. You should take a sweater if you go too - if is absolutely freezing. Odd that they would want to freeze their patrons especially since most of the women arrive rather scantily clad for rock shows. I felt really bad for the poor woman wearing a corset. This show, there was a $10 surcharge if you wanted to go to the balcony and no tables unless you ordered bottle service. They also own the Social which appears to be in the same place but uses a different entrance and is also now booking live bands. read more

WOW! The way up-close concerts should be seen. Sort of reminded me of The Aragon in Chicago. I always wanted to go to HOB for concerts but didn't like the drive, nor the columns that seem to block my view. Wide open in the Beacham and plenty of VIP seating. The stars are based on the venue, not the performance. I was here for a concert. Drinks we're overpriced and not that good. I don't know if that was the specific bartender or what the case was. However they sell $2 fireball shots across the street, spend the drink money there. The 2nd star on this review was earned because of the amazing way they handled the entrance. There were 2 lines to enter, both wrapped around the building. They expedited the line and wasn't a hassle at all. read more

I went to this place last night to go to the Misterwives concert. I thought the venue was nice and intimate, really great for up and coming bands. The music was loud so if you are in the front maybe wear some low level ear plugs. It club can occupy maybe 300 people. I don't know why there are so many complaints, maybe because I went to a concert instead of a club. read more

The Beacham allows indoor smoking, which can get uncomfortable in combination with a couple of hours of standing, since the room was set up without seats in the lower area (for those that did not pay for table service) the night we were there. There are also no taps for beer. The building seems to have some interesting history to it, though, with a tile ceiling that reminded me of an old theater. The two-bar format in the middle of the room cut down on the lines, a nice feature. read more

It has the whole "so much bass you get minor hearing loss for a few hours" thing down, so maybe it's good as a dance club? Ruined a good band for me, so I probably won't be back. You really need to have your staff understand that there is re-entry if you are searched again instead of flat out NO Re Entry. So that someone doesn't miss a show they pre purchased a ticket for - and drove an hour and a half to see- because of what appears to be a draconian rule. read more

I saw Animal Collective here and was incredibly disappointed. The speakers are burnt out and you can smell it. Any band that wants to have their music sound fantastic would should be aware of this and bring their own. The worst thing about this venue is that if you're standing in the crowd, you won't be able to see a damn thing. I was maybe 20 feet from the stage and couldn't see more than the heads of the people on stage. The floor seems to slope UP towards the stage and the stage is like 4 feet off the ground... it's terrible. Avoid this place if you can and pray your favorite band doesn't choose this venue. read more

Went to The Beacham formally Tabu for the House of Pain concert. It was an overall great expereince. The intimacy is there and to be honest the building has character, to me it had a nostalgic feeling of a theater like the one in Last Action Hero. The sound may need a little work but the vocals were still audible for the most part & the whole show was very enjoyable. The drinks were reasonably priced, I think sometimes people forget this is a mid sized venue, & not your local watering hole. If you think they're overpriced here, I don't recommend you going to HOB than. The entry staff were nice and approachable. I've never been here for the club portion of it but they did have nice sitting areas around the venue and plenty of opportunities to get drinks without much hassle. As a venue for performances I think this is a nice spot and can't wait to see some of the upcoming performances that will be housed here. Definitely give it a try and don't let others minute concerns get in the way of your decision! read more

This place has come a long way from what it used to be! I was in there before the renovations and did not care for it much. However, having been there recently multiple times, I can say with confidence that this is my new favorite place to see shows! The sound system is so incredible, that even standing upstairs in VIP, I could really feel the music! I have been to my fair share of concerts, and the Beacham has to be on the top of my list in Florida! If you like dubstep, make sure to check out a show there soon... WOW!!! read more

the new management has done a great job on turning this place around. the new sound system in there is easily one of the best downtown, if not the best. the shows that have been coming through have been top notch as well. i have many fond memories in this building so i am happy to see some work going into it. the only missing star is that vip service is a little rough around the edges. i am sure this will be sorted out with proper training. a great place to see a show! read more

We saw Neon Trees here recently. It was an awesome venue, the drinks are fairly priced and it wasn't over crowded. This place is FUN!!!

The Beacham is a great concert venue with a brand new sound system that is far the best in Orlando! I have seen many of the shows coming to the new beacham and i must say it has been a blast and good memories. If you have not been to a show there then you are missing out. Not one of my favorite clubs to go to but its ok. I've been several times for the swirl saturdays. It can be a rough crowd, this is an understatement. I'd have to say I go for the music and people watching. There are always some characters in there! They should really work on the efficiency of the bar. I know things can be hectic on busy nights but damn they need a better system. I have to say its the credit cards that hold everything up. I've been to the Beacham for a couple of concerts. I saw The XX and Block Party and was recently there for the Beebs and Her Money Makers record release party. The sound system is very good for the sized of the venue. The bar service is ok but depending on the event the wait times can go from super quick to snail paced. The venue is cozy so it can get a bit crowed, if you want an intimate experience you can get the general admission. If you want a more relaxed atmosphere then the valcony seats would be the best way to go. read more
