Great experience!! The owners were so helpful. Gave excellent tips and can give history of beads native to the area. They have a nice selection of glass, seed, and natural stone beads. Rare finds like hand carved shell flower beads. Found some great mini pinch bails and other metal findings that I cannot wait to use. I've been to the bead gallery a couple of times and every time I have been in there to purchase I have had a great experience. I enjoy that the workers don't hover but instead they welcome and let you know they are there to help. Michelle helped me both times and she is great. She did a fantastic job on helping me with the projects that I had. Overall my visits are always positive. I went into this store with three girl friends and we were awe stuck at the beautiful beads everywhere. The employees were welcoming at first. I loved all the jewelry that was pre-made but was a little taken aback at the expense. I may have said this out loud and was met with Jaime? ( The store owner with short hair) saying that maybe I would prefer BEDAZZLED where they sell plastic beads and that maybe her store was out of my league. It's not like the place was packed and two of my gfs ended up purchasing things. I just really didn't appreciate the dig she gave us and BEDAZZLED ( which is a lovely bead store that does not exclusively sell plastic beads). I shop at all the bead stores in Honolulu especially BEAD IT! in Kaimuki. They all have excellent customer service and aren't rude. I will never go there again or recommend it to my craft circle. read more

I've been going to this shop for at least 20 years. The service is impeccable. They've become like a family to me and they're knowledge is never-ending. Whenever I need help with a design or if I have a technical question I can turn to these wonderful folks. The variety of products that they carry is just lovely. From Swarovski Crystals to exotic gemstones to Green Girl Beads, they have it all! If they don't have what you need? They'll order it. The classes they offer are also awesome. I've learned so much from them over the years. From basic wire wrap to metal stamping to bead weaving with seed beads. They also offer soldering and fusing classes. The variety is amazing. If U want to start up jewelry making & designing.... "THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO TO" Unless you want to spend over $100.00 for a simple single strand bracelet!! I saw a design sample there that I wanted to copy. I didn't want to spend the money there so I searched elsewhere. I ended up going back there to buy most of the supplies and my total was $200.00 for beads to make one bracelet!!! Yes, they do offer FREE classes but U must buy ALL the supplies from them. You cannot bring ANYTHING from home. Even tools, I seen them tell a student that they must buy The Bead Gallery's tools b/c her tools she brought from home, "sucked." So this customer spent almost $300.00 on tools and $200.00 in supplies all for a FREE CLASS!!! The husband is awesome & definitely a people person. The owner is definitely someone who should stay in the back b/c when she has a bad day, she shows it. I've heard her say she has a medical condition but that's NO excuse when U are the owner. She definitely helps people that she wants to help. She definitely has problems with children. Yes, it is a bead store but she is not shame to say something sarcastic to the child in front of the parent. She may think she's being sweet but she really is insulting both the parent & child. Thank goodness she's not a parent! The staff is great. The owners personality sometime gets rubbed off onto them but at least they aren't as bad. The volunteers who help there is great. There new location is definitely not suitable for people with disabilities. There is no way a wheelchair or someone with crutches or a walker can go into. The aisles are so narrow since they downsized into a smaller hole in the wall. The only positive out of this is The Bead Gallery is very talented. They have a lot of creative ideas that is sometimes their own original idea or something that existed but changed. Very clean & organized. read more

The beads are great quality large selection. Much better customer service than other Bead it shops. Fortunately, after hearing the skinny caucasian lady and another who was too busy to even look up I sought out the help of the owner's husband as he was very laid back. I was about to only buy about $10 worth from one salesperson and then he was on a roll introducing many strands and stones i like but dunno how to work with. No matter, he was extremely professional and genuinely cared about his craft and his customers, as i will only buy if i get a good vibe shopping there. Look for him when you shop there. :) read more

I never really knew that jewelry can be empowering! Going to the Cupcake Wellness event totally changed my perception. The owner, Jamie Yoshida, explained that she hand picks each and every item in her shop (maybe that's why everythings looks so sparkly) and every stone has an unique property. I have never left a review on Yelp but my experience this afternoon has compelled me to share the amazing things that are in store for you when you walk through their door. We were visiting from Illinois in search of two special beads for our midwife who collects beads for each child she delivers. Jaime and team were so helpful in guiding us around the store and offering suggestions with incredible patience and passion for the vast collection they have in the store. On our way out a necklace caught my eye and Melissa (I truly apologize if this is the incorrect name!!) helped us create a custom necklace with all of the birthstones in our family that literally brought me to tears. If I am doing a project and I get stuck creatively, I just bring everything in and they give me immediate consultation to get over the "hump".
