Love love love this coffee shop! The staff are very well trained and are confident with the menu. They have all the answers to your questions. Coffee brew is fantastic from plain black coffee to iced tea lattes, everything is amazing. The retro atmosphere is a nice, relaxing vibe to sit down and enjoy your coffee with. I always dress up to go there because I love matching the vibe of the shop lol. There's plenty of room/tables/seats/couches/etc. I like that you can chose to use their glassware or to-go cups rather than just disposable to-go cups. Highly recommend. Visiting from the west coast I was happy to see the Auburn area has many more coffee shops than when I lived here 5 years ago. I tried The Bean at the suggestion of a friend and loved the cute atmosphere and friendly baristas. This is the kind of spot I missed when I lived here. At that time "meeting for coffee" didn't seem to be a thing here, but now at The Bean you could definitely do that. The pastries looked delicious, my kids tried the cinnamon roll and my bite was good. I tried their signature secret latte and got it half sweetness. Love going to The Bean on weekends to have a coffee and get some homework done. The atmosphere is always very relaxed and comfortable, and there is a lot of space to sit, which is something other Auburn coffee shops are lacking. Took my mom here once and she said it was the best cappuccino she's had outside of Italy. Only complaint could be that it's sometimes a little cold inside depending on where you sit. read more

I have been a long time follower of The Bean, I have spent most of my college years studying and hanging out there. It is a place that has remained close to my heart. However recently, I have been so upset with my time spent there. I normally go to the shop go get a cup of coffee and enjoy their locally famous cinnamon rolls; since they moved into their new location myself and other customers have felt extremely unsatisfied to the point we have decided to look for other locations to do our work and hang out. When logging onto the wifi at the shop you are greeted with a message that says something to the effect of "if you are here to work you need to purchase items here. if you are to park here you need to purchase items. if you are to sit here for a long mount of time, your receipt should reflect that." I'm not sure about your feelings towards this message, but this has completely turned me away from their business. I understand that you want to convert customers into sales, but this is not the way to go about it. There is a kinder and better way to express this message. I spent some time there today and the actions of the owners reflects this forceful message they post along with their wifi entry. It really pains me to have to write this message but I feel so strongly that this is not the right way to treat your customers. To the owners, I hope you see this message and are able to reflect on your customer service as a whole. I hope to return to the coffee shop for a better experience, but for right now I will be looking elsewhere to spend my time. read more

Perfect cup, no sugar or creme needed. GOURMET gelato. BEST Pistachio gelato...full of flavor & not too sweet. Got a bunch of their homemade desserts...frozen espresso chocolate cake, peanut butter chocolate pie, & their famous cinnamon roll. So crazy good that we're coming back in Monday morning. This is close to my work so I come here for a cup of coffee some mornings. The staff is very friendly and engaging. The pastries look yummy but I'm on a diet so I cant attest to their quality. Why are we still with this racist mentality?... As always my friend and I study here on our light studying days. Some weeks before the older man working there, told us in a loud manner saying that it time to close and it was 30-40 minutes until closing time. Today, the owner, the old middle-aged woman started cleaning up again 30-40 minutes earlier. She started spraying her cleaning chemicals so much that I could smell it all the way where I was sitting. As a result, I started coughing. She then walked up to the table where my friend and I were sitting, and she asked us could we move our items off of the table and further explained because they had been there all morning and it was getting time to close, mind you this is 30-40 minutes before closing time. She also was not even there earlier when I was in the shop, so that was not a truthful statement. She AGAIN sprayed so much chemicals that it affected my upper respiratory airways, resulting in me coughing again. She sprayed more chemicals again after wiping the table down and left it there so we could not place anything back on there. There were 3 other girls sitting at a table next to us and she did not ask them to move their stuff to clean AT ALL. As we were all leaving, she said Thank you loudly as if she was happy we were leaving. Then, she started to tell me I don't mind anyone bringing outside food, but I would prefer you to buy at least a dessert from us. I didn't understand as to why she said something to just me and no one else. She was saying I know one of you purchased something but I am not sure who. I explained to her that I was at the shop earlier, and purchased something and I continued to throw my things away. She kept talking about how okay, we just prefer people to buy things from here as I was walking out. NOTHING was said to the other three girls! This honestly made me feel like a target, and was very unnecessary. read more
