We have a saying in Spanish... "Lo barato Valle Carro!" Anything cheap cost expensive! I initially came with a Groupon looking for a half a head of chunk highlights. Needless to say, Maria recommended Ombre which is no longer in trend for 2015 and not a preference for me. She explained to me that she usually gives "natural highlights" I explained I wanted something different than the norm. She also mentioned that she wouldn't recommend highlights on pale skin. I should've known better...she gave me natural highlights. I blew out my own hair in their salon (not included in Groupon... tawdry) went to the nearest CVS and purchased a box of hair dye to cover up the disappointment. I've known Lindsey for a very long time and for much of that time, she has always loved doing hair. The Beauty Box is a very comfortable environment, especially as a male client. Hair salons tend to be a bit intimidating, but the staff made me feel more than comfortable. The time spent in Lindsey's chair was more than pleasant. She has a energetic and charismatic personality that is very welcoming. Her technique is far better than your average barber shop and i can say this because I find myself waiting twice as long to get a hair cut. Not only did she do a great job on my hair but she also recommended shaping my eyebrows and facial hair, which was all included in the service. I like that she is capable of doing everything all in one visit. The staff is more than friendly, the place is cool and the valet parking is a major bonus. My hair for my wedding was PERFECT. Yahaira worked wonders, and I cannot thank her enough for making this part of my wedding 100% stress free. Not to mention she'll keep you laughing the entire time and keep things light; she's used to working with brides so bridal stress is not new to her. I simply showed her a couple pictures of things I liked (I only had very general ideas of what I liked) and she turned it into something perfect for me. I had a wonderful experience here, and used a Groupon as well. The groupon I had bought was for highlights, and I had never dyed my hair professionally before. Their colorist Missy is an absolute sweetheart, and really took the time to make sure that I was always comfortable. She helped me pick out a honey color for my highlights, since I have naturally dark brown hair with accents of red. I couldn't be happier with the way she distributed the color! It really brings out my eyes, frames my face, and also brings out my freckles. While there, I decided to get a haircut as well. Lindsey cut my hair and really got a sense of my individual personality and style. The angles that she added to my hair, really also helped to complement my face shape, as well as the way the hair moved. She gave me a cut with a more edgy style, which is sometimes hard for people to feel comfortable doing. Since I was in the shop for a while that day getting my hair colored, I saw her vast talents in cutting various clients hair. Everyone here is super talented and I would be a fool to not return! Anyone who reads my reviews knows I am obsessed with getting my hair blown out. When visting Westchester recently for a weekend long event - of course I needed to fnd a local salon. A google search gave me a list of places, none of which met my standards for a myriad of reasons - "we only take cash", "our last appt is at 4:00" After additional digging, I found Beauty Box. They were professional and accommodating when I made my appt and called to confirm the day prior. The receptionist was very accomondating -even brought me a cappuccino while I waited. Less than 10 minutes later, a great blow-out from Lindsey. She "got me" right away, knew what I wanted and executed it perfectly. My hair looked great and I left as happy as could be with a bag of newly purchased B&B products to boot. While I dont live in Westchester, I do visit and will definitely be back. I'm new to the area, and after a couple of hair stylist fails I was so happy to find her. I had a similar experience to you Anita-Nikki was rude and short with me, and acted like she disgusted by my hair. I felt unwelcome and decided to leave.It was clear curly hair isn't what they specialize in and even more clear they don't service people of color. I went in earlier today to try to get my hair dyed in hopes of having an amazing experience because of the reviews, unfortunately this was the worst hair experience I have ever had in my life. This hair salon is extremely racist, as soon as I walked inside I was not greeted whatsoever but rather looked at as if I was invading their space by entering. I ignored that because of these reviews but as soon as Nicki/Nicole began to work on my hair I knew entering was a mistake. She was very rough with my hair to the point where now I have a headache and when I told her that she was hurting me she simply said "I'm just trying to do my job". I'm a really patient person who wouldn't usually walk out in places but I actually had to leave this establishment. Nicki had no remorse to how she was treating me and my hair and I am appalled by this blatant racism and mistreatment. I do not recommend this place to any person of color and I am only writing this review to warn others. Remember you vote with your dollar! read more

Another salon I purchased with a groupon and yet another one that left me a little disappointed. I purchased a groupon for a single process color and a glaze. The colorist told me that she would have to strip my hair for me to get the color I desired and she told me there would be a fee of $35 after the groupon. I said sure. She stripped my hair and then proceeded to put on the glaze when I thought she was going to color my hair as we've discussed and then put the glaze. She didn't ask me if that was okay, it was just done. Although I was satisfied with the color that came out from the stripping process since it was close to what I wanted, I just wished she put the color in because now my hair is very brittle which is to be expected from getting it stripped. But adding color would've helped the texture. read more

Got a GREAT hair cut by a fabulous young hairdresser named Yahaira. Just called up at around 3:30 last Tuesday asking if I could come in before the end of the day, and they gave me an appointment. My hair has been super dry and damaged after some bleaching I got done somewhere else, and it needed some real TLC. Yahaira was a magician! She took care of my hair, gave me a striking cut, and made it feel like silk by the time I left. Seriously what she did with my layers was impeccable. I'm writing this review from Missy's chair, as we chat about the very first time I visited The Beauty Box some months ago, traumatized after a horrendous experience at a different salon, and I just had to share my story with you! I was practically in tears during that first consult, but Missy immediately put me at ease, explaining exactly what she planned to do and laying out a long term hair care plan for me as well. She worked what can only be described as a miracle, taking my tresses from an over bleached mess to a gorgeous, hydrated, rich, ombré. If you're also in the market for a cut and style, Yahaira is also super talented. She only gave me a quick trim that day, but just five minutes in her chair provided a total and very necessary transformation. I couldn't decide to go with one or two stars. The first time I went to Beauty Box I was quite happy. I went back yesterday and walked out. I had a 615 appointment. at 638 I left; who knows how much longer I would have had to wait. The colorist was on the opposite side of the mirror and didn't have the decency to pop her head over and say, sorry I'm running late but I'll be done really soon. She was instead talking with her client about swimsuits, and I had to listen to her client talk talk talk about organic milk, eggs and rubbery chicken. Never again. read more

I am new to the area & was in need of a makeover asap, so I found the Beauty Bar, Rye NY through a Groupon. They were able to get me in right away. The girl I started w/was amazing. Super sweet, friendly, professional & knows how to fix color issues from previous mistakes. I was expecting to pay under $100. I didn't realize my Groupon was for full highlights & glazing only, but that would have been fine if I was told before I was sent to another women for the cut. She was not nice or professional. I had to keep repeating myself. She said "sorry I guess I'm not too engaging today" I showed her a few hairstyles I liked & she suggested going w/the longer version since I need to beable to pull my hair in a bun for the military. Which the sides are now too short & fall out. I told her I don't have a set part & don't like it flat against my head. She blew it dry & used round brushes then oil to smooth it out instead of the beach curls I wanted. She was rude & I was not impressed at all. When I said I was surprised that my bill was $217 she said "when I get color I don't expect a cut & dry to be included" that I needed to read my Groupon that it was stated on it. It was not. I showed her the other 4 I was looking at & her response was "they look like good deals. You should go there next time." I would love to go back to have my hair colored when it's time, but won't due to the fact of their unprofessionalism. You should be told upfront, before a service, the prices when they know it's your first time there. They up charge on everything. You're not told that 1 person will color & another will cut; or they will change for each tool they use for styling or anything else. I was already anxious & under a lot of stress because I was headed to meet w/my divorce attorney. By the time I left I was even more stressed & now late. read more

so disappointed. never left a salon so annoyed in my life. Went here with groupon. This could be the reason i was treated they way i was but im not sure. Sat in a waiting area where my hair was colored. not even in the regular area with the stylists/mirrors. weird but not a big deal. the color that was put in my roots, shouldn't have been put there since my roots took to color very different than the rest of my hair. ok, i can deal with that. What is unacceptable is this was the dead of winter and they refused to blow dry the water out of my hair. the shampoo guy had told me they would get someone to do this, but i guess he went and checked and they said NO. so i walked out with WET HAIR. they couldn't care less. the real cherry on top was the colorist who did my hair was too busy with her next client to even CHECK ON HER WORK until i was slipping her TIP in her pocket asking me how i liked it. How can i even tell? my hair was soaking wet. she not once came to check on me. As other reviewers mentioned, i have a real problem with salons milking the money from customers to get a blow dry. I've been to places before that charged for a blow dry. when you dont purchase it, they at least quickly dry your hair a bit so the water is out, and they can see how the color came out. like i said, they couldn't care less. will never be back. read more

This is a new place and it absolutely awesome! Just moved down from Boston and so glad I found this gem! Maria did my full foil and did an excellent job in listening of what I was looking for. Needless to say she took her time with my long hair and usually I look for a blonde specialist in a new salon but she absolutely nailed it! I will be back and seeing her again very soon. Yahaira did my cut and blow out and I was beyond impressed. I walked out with extra few peps in my steps.. Practically frolicked out as did a few other ladies before me! Love love love my hair!!! Missy did a fabulous job on my color and Jamie gave me a wonderful cut. The salon is beautiful and relaxing. I had a groupon and this was my first visit, but I was definitely treated as a full-paying customer. Check out their Instagram for pictures - these were definitely a selling point for me! Such a great atmosphere and helpful staff. I have gone to Melissa a few times to get my color done and every time she nails it! Her technique is amazing and she told me about the different workshops she is always taking so you know she is up to date and skilled in all the different ways to color hair. She is so sweet and takes her time in the beginning to really understand what it is you want. I have previously (at other salons) had some terrible dye experiences and am probably too vain when it comes to my hair so it came as a huge relief to find someone who took the time to understand my wants and needs. Everything about this salon is amazing! The salon is beautiful, clean and welcoming! The environment is so upbeat and pleasant. I was greeted by the valet person, which was a great touch. This made it such a nice experience from the moment I pulled up. The receptionist, Jessica, was very friendly as she checked me in and showed me around. My appointment was with Lindsey for color and blow-dry. The color bar is a nice touch to the salon, and the way each station is set up is very chic. I was taken over to the color bar where Lindsey discussed what color would work best for me...I love that she took the time to talk to me about exactly what I wanted. I appreciated her doing this....it put me at ease since I knew exactly what to expect and felt comfortable. Lindsey definitely knew what she was doing and she is extremely talented. While my color was on I was asked numerous times if I wanted anything while waiting. All the employees were so responsive to my every need and really made me feel relaxed! This is how you should feel while being pampered! My color came out great! My hair was super soft, had great volume, and even looked amazing the following day! Lindsey explained and instructed me on which products would be best to use on my hair. Each time she used a product on my hair, she explained the reasoning behind it. Many times hair dressers just throw product in your hair and never explain why....so by her taking the time to do this and educate me was really appreciated. I didn't want to leave the salon! I had such a wonderful experience and have already recommended it to all my friends! As for pricing, is very reasonable! I am definitely going back within the next month for a trim with Lindsey. Such a great find and for a great price! I needed a quick blow out before a friend's wedding and called same day, 2 hours before I was able to come in. With hardly any lead time, the salon was able to accommodate me. I was treated to an awesome shampoo, cappuccino and wonderful blowout by Antonio! I would give it Zero stars-if I could. First the salon rescheduled my appointment because the stylist was sick. I rescheduled with understanding. Then in my appointment date, they made me wait 45 minutes! You'd think that they would have been more courteous -after already having my appointment changed. Laurie, the colorist, did an awful job highlighting my hair. I asked her to match my existing golden blonde color. But the end result was that I was even darken than original-an ashy silver blonde. She attempted to fix it but still couldn't get it right. I have been highlighting my hair for 15 years and I have never been so disappointed. It was a waste of 3 hours!!!! read more

All of the lovely ladies who work here are an absolute delight, the music and atmosphere were wonderful, and I have never had such an amazing color job in my life!
