Didn't greet me, invite me in, or ask if there for services, nope just left me standing on the other side of the glass until a maintenance worker came and I followed behind him. Once I was serviced they then advised me that the girl who I booked with no longer worked there. And though the website said 1 price, they quoted me another. I simply advised the owner that her website said something different and she got an attitude and started coming at me like I was trying to haggle her for a different price. She had charged me $250 for dying my hair pink but left orange spots throughout it and completely damaged it. My hair is forever damaged because of Slique Hair Studio. I have been to Slique a few times and overall was fine to get a sew in. But I went in January 2018 and had a relaxer gone wrong. As a result, all of my edges broke off and I am STILL suffering from the effects. Monique took minimal responsibility for what her team had done and barely tried to nurse my hair back to health, but the pictures should show you how truly bad this was. I think the worst part is that they attempted to say this was as a result of stress. As if one only stressed around her hair line in the areas where they put relaxer....sure ok. If you're not going there for a chemical treatment, maybe it's fine. To be perfectly honest, the weave wasn't bad. But if you are doing anything chemical stay far far away. Its been three weeks today since my hair was destroyed by Monique. She claims to have 30 years experience doing hair. But yet my hair looks like a child did it. My friends looked at my hair and say, THIS WAS "PERSONAL" NOT PROFESSIONAL. I don't understand this because it was my first time that she did my hair. I had a consultation with her before she did my hair, so it was of no surprise to her what I wanted. My hair looks like it has never been cut so style is totally out of the question. Booked an appointment with Monique (whom is also the owner of the shop) based on reviews I read on Yelp. I don't like to write a review based on one visit, I actually visited Monique twice. From those two visits, I would say, they were OK. She has an assistant, Kathy, who preps you with the wash and blow, and Monique styles you. She's timely (which is HUGE for me) and professional. I wasn't too happy with how I left each time I went. I think because of the length of hair that we were dealing with, it may not be her specialty in how to style "middle stage" short hair. Her instagram page reflects a lot of pin curl styling, so I would say that's her style preference. BUT, she's definitely not bad. So I wanted to give a good review--but like some other comments, my hair was fried, broken off, tangled and dry after trusting this salon. I originally went in early Dec 2020 for a style, cut, color and relaxer with the stylist Monique. It was pricy but the color and style came out great and I was happy with the results. I came back a month later for a trim, wash and style ONLY. Monique thought I needed a relaxer touch up in the back and sides. Mind you it had only been 4 weeks but I thought she would touch up the new growth only. Nope. She (there's a separate person that does relaxers/washes but under the direction of Monique) put relaxer all throughout the back of my hair and sides. Then to add insult to injury, left me under the dryer for over an hour to set my hair into a style. Also, Monique told me to come back in TWO WEEKS to relax my entire head. So I would have gotten three full relaxers within 6 weeks. Yikes. That's not only completely damaging to hair but hard on the bank account.... My hair after this appointment was completely fried, dried and breaking off (in the places where new relaxer was added). No amount of treatments could save it so I had to go to a barber cut off the damage. Thankfully they were able to cut it into a cute style. Long story short...the styling/coloring is on point here hence the 2 stars. But in terms of hair CARE I would think twice before going here. I think it's pretty common knowledge not to relax someone's hair 3x's in 6 weeks so that recommendation is very sketchy to me. Plus, I would have been charged for relaxer services for each appointment. There's definitely good things about the salon--but be prepared to speak up if someone recommends services that will mess up your hair--even if they say they're a 30 year stylist. read more

Decent hair cut but not for 40.00 it was advertised as you want to wash it; for 40 and it wasn't specified whether or not it was automatically included in the overall price whether or not you received the wash or not. They STEAL money...GENA is a thief. She did NOT do my hair. She was 3.5 hours behind which is why I left. She texted me that she would refund my money. I gave her my cash app and she rejected the request. The reason why I'm out of $100 is because the StyleSeat App charges automatically based on the assumed services. So. She would have to refund it. Gena has welfare clients who don't work and can sit in the shop all day..and she steals. Slique Hair allows it which makes them a terrible business as well. I'm not happy with my hair, after leaving this salon. I went in for a simple wash and blow dry, so I can get my hair braided. However, my hair was not treated with care, it's very dry...I can't even run my fingers through it - the stylist should have recognized that. And as I was getting it dried, I don't understand why I never felt the heat of the blow dryer, it's as if the stylist had never blown out natural hair before; he kept stopping in the process. And btw - my hair was still damp in the back of my head, upon leaving. Also, the stylist never asked me how I wanted my hair before leaving and thought it would be good to place my hair in a ponytail, at the top of my head (like a child), my hair isn't even long enough for that. Then the stylist had the nerve to charge me $40 for a job incomplete! I'm so MAD I even paid because now, I have to RE-WASH & BLOW DRY my own hair! And I really hope that none of my hair was cut, without my permission...bc it kinda feels that way. I would not recommend Gary to wash and blow dry NATURAL HAIR. He was sensitive in his approach and very welcoming but I don't think he did a good job. I'm sorry. The positive...I was serviced upon walking in, there's a friendly vibe and cool music. Not only is she an expert at precision cutting, she styles wonderfully and pays attention to her clients. Her assistant Kathy is the bomb. Cathy....haven't had much contact with her, but seems pretty professional too. The shop looks very good, it's comfortable and smells nice. I'm happy with my hair, no complaints! They also use this app to do their appointments called styleseat. So far I've made appointments and have been seen within 5- 10 minutes of my appointment. Monique is the absolute best owner of a salon I have ever met. She is very sweet very personable. I came in to get my naturally curly hair highlighted after a recommendation by my co-worker. Monique's assistant started out good but she was not following the directions that Monique gave her regarding coloring my hair. My hair looked horrible. Monique corrected the 14 carrot gold color but I was still disappointed. She didn't even charge for the stylist error. I love her for that. That was a few months back and my hair has not been the same since. If you go insist that the owner does your hair. I saw this salon on IG and loved some of the short hairstyles Monique cut so I booked online as her first client of the day, 11:15am. I arrived at 11am, and was hardly welcomed. Monique wasnt even there yet so I waited 10 min, until her assistant said she would wash my hair. I asked where is Monique for my 11:15 appt and she said well, regardless, there are 2 people ahead of you for a curl. Hard to understand 2 people ahead of me when I booked the first appt. 12:15 came and she still wasnt even there yet. I drove over an hour to this salon for what should have been a 45 min haircut and style which was quoted at $40 on her booking site. I had to be to my work by 130pm so leaving by 1pm was feasible considering my 11:15am appt to cut my already neck length hair into shape smh. To shorten this story, another woman there blew dry my washed hair in my attempt to leave without a style, or cut, looking worse then I came in, to work smh. To add insult to this highly unprofessional encounter, she was on the phone trying to charge $45 saying shes charging for the time booked and the wash. Unprofessional and a seemingly crooked way to run a business based on referrals, charging when you're not even in the salon AND charging $45 when the cut and style is listed as $40. Never ever again! Trust your gut when you walk in and feel unwelcome, walk out like they expect!!! Highly disappointed that I wasted my time going to this salon, which isn't in the best areas, wasting my freetime which could have been making money. I left $25 for the girl who tried to flat iron my hair into the look I walked in with and she probably wont even get it! $45 dollars for her lateness, what a crooked way of doing business coming from a "Master Stylist" with over blah, blah years experience. Oh em gee! Okay, so for starters I made an appt here on a whim...hoping and praying of be satisfied because I need to set down roots in ONE salon once and for all. I need someplace local that can deal with transitioning hair. So I stumbled upon Slique by word of mouth and did my own research before booking an appt. Well I do not regret it one bit! Where do I begin?! Well first of all, i was greeted by Monique my stylist. The ambience and decor is cozy like your sitting in your own living room. Very chic. It was quiet, not loud as I am accustomed to at a salon. Nice music was playing. I wasn't seated but dive minutes when her assistant Cathy called me to the back and asked me several questions before washing my hair. She wanted to know how I had been maintaining it, why I was going natural etc. she showed me what products she would use and took her time...one of the best wash/conditioning experiences I've ever had! They use too notch hair products too. After Cathy blow dried me I say in Monique's chair and all I can say is she def has a client for life. I love the chemistry between her hands and my hair. She is so knowledgable about black hair and really took her time. She gave me the neatest trim I've had in a while and suggested what I can do to maintain between visits. This place is amazeballs!
