As a cinephile who goes to the theater at least once a week, I knew relocating from Los Angeles to the Las Vegas area meant losing the massive variety of film options available to Angelenos. That is why I was so grateful to discover The Beverly Theater, the only arthouse and revival cinema in the valley. God bless The Beverly Theater for just being here. This is an absolute treasure and refuge for cinephiles in a city that is otherwise dominated by big corporate chains and bad movies. The Beverly Theater, while not touching the movie palaces like The Egyptian in LA, offers a cultural touchstone in DTLV. There's a wonderful boutique stocked with craft drinks, a lovely candy selection, and Criterion Collection DVDs for sale. There's film offerings are fantastic. What a treat recently seeing Trainspotting on the big screen in a lovely theater where the fellow audience members are also respectful film lovers. I love this place! read more

What a cool place to do something "different" in sin city. This is not your typical theater. The patio on the 2nd floor makes for a cool place to hang before/after the movie. Concessions reminds me of a small hotel nightlight concessions area where you'd get microwaveable pizza and cup o noodles but much cooler. I chose a red wine without thinking that it was weird to drink a chilled red...but whatever. I just put it in my pocket and let it warm up and popped it open once the movie started....perfection. Not only can you do movie screenings, and premieres here, you can also have events even your wedding if you want. There's a wedding chapel. Across The Street makes it quick and easy. This place looked so cool, I was excited to finally check it out! Went to see the original Halloween with a group of friends. The concessions situation was weird, like a grab-n-go in a hotel... luckily the popcorn was fresh. To my surprise, the seating in the theater was just a step up from bleachers - think amusement park "ride" seats. Thank God the movie wasn't very long. I was so uncomfortable I considered leaving a few times. I'd be embarrassed to advertise this as a "theater" without a disclaimer. With all the modern theaters/amenities in Vegas, this is the worst I've been to in decades. The sound was awful, like they had only one or two speakers in the whole room - so very quiet. I could hear everyone around me breathing, sipping, chewing popcorn... people walking up/down the bleachers made so much noise on the wooden steps. Such a distraction. I wasn't able to relax and enjoy the show. Very unlikely I'll return to watch another movie here. read more

I don't usually leave reviews, but felt I must for this theater as a friendly warning to others. The only good things about it were that the girl who sold us our tickets and concessions was nice and the lobby area is pretty and hip. But.... jeez- the seats were amazingly uncomfortable. First of all, they are on stadium-like bleachers. That structure is noisy every time somebody gets up to leave for the restroom or concessions or whatever (very distracting when trying to watch a movie). And you can feels the structure moving with the footsteps. there was a person several seats away from me jiggling their legs and I could feel that! Secondly, the seats are really stiff, hard and narrow with oddly short arm rests that have a very raised edge drink holder in them. Thirdly, the aisles are SO narrow. Halfway through the movie my knees were aching. I couldn't stop squirming. There is no relief, as there is no room to stretch your legs out even a little bit (unless you want to get up and walk around, which would cause the whole stadium-like structure to move and create noise). And I am not tall, just 5'6". So uncomfortable. I'm in my 50's, so not young, but not elderly either. Maybe in my 20's or 30's I would have been ok with this. Last thing about the seating (and this may be a minor thing to some) is that there is no recliners. No big deal, right? But in this day and age, when most movie theaters offer that amenity, this was a disappointment, especially given that the ticket prices don't reflect the lack of that amenity. Next thing: My husband got a small popcorn (pricing on par with other theaters), which he said was pretty good. And he got a canned alcohol beverage , some kind of hard iced tea, that the girl at the concessions recommended because it was on special for only three dollars. So that was nice. But I got a Diet Coke (in a plastic bottle) and they charged $7 for that- pretty steep for a bottle of pop. There are no fountain drinks, no ice, no cups. The concession stand is just like the little cubbies in hotels where you purchase your snacks. I see what they are attempting to do there, with hand picked movies (mostly older) and an artsy vibe. And while I applaud the effort, I cannot recommend the experience and will not be returning. It may be cool for the youngest generations- but not very affordable, so there's that... read more

Everything about this place is lovely. The building design itself is beautiful with several cool spaces. The upstairs balcony amazing. They'll deliver a slice of Evel Pie pizza to your seat. What an excellent gem of a venue. truly. We had a surprise wedding proposal event where the proposal was partially in the theater during a custom created 1080p mp4 video pretending to be a movie, but actually was a just a setup for a chance to pop the question. She said Yes! the after party was upstairs in their very cute and perfectly sized semi outdoor party deck. We brought our own musician (Abe Parker) and he played a congratulatory wedding set of songs for us and we had the best time. They venue provided a full bar and food for the event and it was effortless. The staff was excellent and made all of our hard decisions, super easy. 10/10 read more

It is a bit not my Yelp style to write a review after only one visit. I kind of prefer to visit a spot a few times to get the authentic vibe before putting my keystrokes to work on my laptop on Yelp. But as a local, I find this independent film movie theatre so charming, I cannot keep it in and have to give them a shout out. I am also embarrassed that this is my first visit. I am making a commitment right here, right now on Yelp, that I am driving from my Summerlin perch to this cool downtown theatre at least once a month from now on. Awesome! Come join me! Maybe a good spot to have a Yelp Elite event? On this day, my girlfriends and I are going to see a 5pm flick. Make no mistake, we are three of maybe the ten people seeing a movie at this time, so the place is not busy. From the minute you open the heavy wooden door to go in though, you know this little spot is one of those downtown gems. Young friendly staff, cool little snack/merch space with oodles of movie snack options, beverages and canned/bottled adult beverage options. An employee actually brought our just popped hot popcorn into the theatre to us after the movie started...now that is customer service with a side of hot popcorn! Restrooms are clean, establishment is bright with loads of natural light and feels modern and Vegas vintage at the same time. There is one theatre and the seats could probably be more comfortable, but they are OK. No reclining seats, no fancy cocktail service to your seat, but nothing like that at this theatre (although she did bring the hot popcorn and that is not for nothing). You can chill and enjoy a drink pre/post movie in the outdoor chill space called "the Segue" on the second floor (seems very rentable for events, if this is what might interest you). I chose to pop into the uber cool Writers Block bookstore that is right next door before my movie. Parking is on the street, some spots are free and some spots are pay (via Flowbird or the machine if you can spot one). And then while looking at the lineup of movie offerings for the month of September alone, these are exceptional movies from off beat, new, foreign, American filmmakers, lots of variety. WOW! What a line up. Such a treat for to have this in our valley. Movies are not typically during the day, but mostly at night or early evening. Some worthy movies to explore though that are off the beaten path. Their website has a full listing. Love this place. First time at this new theater was last week. I had been wanting to see Past Lives and checked their website and they were showing on a Friday afternoon. I was able to purchase my tickets online. The cost was $10 a good deal. I arrived and was able to secure a parking spot right outside the theater. They open the doors about 15 minutes before showtime. When I walked in, I was so impressed with how clean and pristine the theater is. The aisle leading to the theater has some classic old movie posters framed which is a nice touch. The snack bar is really a treat. Along with candies of all kinds, they offer both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks to purchase. I saw soda, water, wine, beer, kombucha and some white claw, and there were other drinks too. They also offer popcorn and Beverly Theater merchandise. Staff was very friendly and were able to answer any and all questions. When it was time to enter the theater, I went first so I could get a pic of the seating (minus people). The seats are not as comfortable as some of the luxury theaters but they aren't uncomfortable. They are just a little stiff. The screen itself is not as big as your normal theater but that is because this room is also used for other events such as poetry readings and concerts. Since the Village Square theater has now closed here is where you will find foreign films, older films and more culturally diverse films. Overall my experience here was great. The movie was good, the sound was clear and the theater stayed cool and comfortable. This space features a bright white outdoor patio and another outdoor space upstairs. One of the staff informed me that on the weekends, there is live jazz music performed by various groups and it's on the upstairs patio. It is free to attend. As soon as I walked into The Beverly Theater, I was struck by how clean, sharp, and well designed the place is. Everything about the space is aesthetically solid, it gives you the feeling that this isn't just another theater. It's something curated. The staff is young, professional, and chill. They're respectful, not overbearing, and everything ran smooth without feeling corporate or forced. I came with my two daughters (21 and 22). I'm not really part of the artsy crowd, I'm just a regular guy in crispy white Air Force 1s but I still enjoyed the atmosphere. The movie we saw wasn't something I would normally pick, but once it started, I was drawn in. The space, sound, and vibe really pull you into the experience. The type of films they show lean toward indie, cult classics, foreign cinema, and deeper cuts, think 2001: A Space Odyssey, Marie Antoinette, Cane River, Raising Arizona, and films like that. They're not blockbuster-type movies, but they have style and substance. The Beverly also hosts literary events, live music, community conversations, and film discussions. It's a full creative space, not just a movie theater. What surprised me most is how much I liked the overall environment. The neighborhood felt safe and welcoming. I wouldn't mind coming back, not just for movies, but maybe to check out one of those other events they put on. It's not my usual lane, but I felt comfortable there. Bottom line: If you're looking for a laidback, arts focused spot with a cool atmosphere and no pressure, The Beverly Theater is worth a visit. Whether it's a night out with family or even a date, the vibe is right. Side note: Before the movie started, there was a combination of lighting and sound, some kind of overhead light and intro audio that hit all at once, and it triggered a strong reaction in me. I'm normally not sensitive to that kind of thing, but it almost caused an anxiety attack. I actually started feeling physically sick and had to walk myself through it by closing my eyes and taking deep breaths. Just something to be aware of if you're prone to sensory overload. read more

Finally came to see what The Beverly Theater was all about with a screening of The Shining last night. I really really wanted to love this theater, but I'll be honest, not sure what all the hype is about. The exterior and interior lobby, snack area, and restrooms were all so beautiful and well maintained. However, the theater itself was extremely lackluster and felt like an afterthought to the rest of the gorgeous building. Aside from the appearance of the theater room, the seats are extremely uncomfortable. Not only are they stiff, but the seats themselves are quite narrow with virtually useless armrests as they are really low. The rows are very close together leaving little legroom. It also felt like the seats were on a temporary structure, similar to bleachers; whenever anyone walked up/down the stairs it was extremely loud and caused the structure to slightly move. Kind of odd. Considering the main attraction and area you spend the most time in is the theater itself, it really could use some work. Concessions were also disappointing. We pre-paid for a large popcorn, but 3/4 of our bowl was just popcorn dregs. We hardly had any full pieces, making it difficult to eat. We noticed several other patrons gave up on their popcorn bowls as well since it was hard to enjoy with tiny pieces. As for the candy, sodas, waters, and alcoholic beverages... I did not like that nothing had a price. You just picked what you wanted and then got a little shock when you were run up at the register. 2 water bottles, 1 ginger beer, and 1 lager beer can ran us over $30. The building itself is stunning and well kept with very friendly staff members; however, the uncomfortable seating in the theater and the undesirable concessions will make me second guess coming back. Unless I reeaaallly want to see an old film on the big screen, I think I'll stick to Art Houz Theaters for the same cost. read more

I was very impressed with this new theatre in DTLV. Opening at the beginning of March, the theatre screens films that are not shown in regular theatres. There are also screenings of classic films. I was at the Beverly yesterday for a staged reading of the new musical "The House on Watch Hill" written by Richard Oberacker and Robert Taylor. for a film, there is much room between the first row of seats and the screen so you could sit in the front row and not have a stiff neck from staring up. The facility is v ery well done. Bright, white interior, a concession stand, restrooms, and a rooftop seating area suited for Las Vegas weather. The only negative I had was the length of the seat arms. Each has a cup holder. The arms are short enough that I found myself resting my arms on the cup holders. This is minor and picky. This iwill have a major impact on the arts scene in DTLV. Funded by the Rogers Foundation, it is the culmination of the desire Beverly Rogers had to create such a space. Wonderful idea! read more

I've always loved that I don't have to go through a casino to see a movie here. My friends and I also like to go early or stay after the movie to have drinks on their terrace. This is probably my new favorite place in Vegas to watch movies. The building is beautiful in decor inside and out. If you go upstairs, there is a terrace with couches and fire pits so they are ready for all versions of Vegas weather. The concession stand was adorable with branded popcorn buckets that you turn a token in to claim inside the theater. The popcorn was like an old fashioned seasoning with butter and not too much salt. They also offered all your traditional candies and some old fashioned ones along with craft sodas, beer and liquor. We got 2 sodas and a bucket of popcorn for $18. That might seem like a lot but for the experience and quality, we felt it was reasonable. All the staff inside was super friendly. For tickets to The Sandlot, we paid about $10 and the sound and picture quality were great. They even handed out free baby Ruth's, which I thought was such a nice touch. My only complaint is how hard the seating is. Perhaps since it's a new venue, they need to be broken in a bit more. I would definitely not hesitate to return to this venue if something I wanted to see was playing there. read more

A brand-spanking-new theater that features indie films, live concerts, and literary events, located right next to our best independent book store downtown? Yes, that's the Beverly. We attended a screening of award-winning documentary, "All The Beauty and the Bloodshed," yesterday during grand opening weekend and the theater is lovely. There are two levels to the building with the second floor being a wide balcony with lots of seating. There are 146 stadium-style seats in the theater that can retract into the wall to increase the capacity to 407. I really liked the intimate feel of the smaller theater. I'm just happy that there will be a movie house that's dedicated to art house/indie films now that we've lost the one chain theater at Village Square which used to feature indies in addition to the mainstream flicks. read more

First time at TBT today and overall I had a v cool experience seeing how the theater really acts as as a multifaceted facility. I came in today to watch Past Lives by A24 studios and was kindly greeted upon entering and was informed presenting for the event happens about 5 minute prior to the screening time for all the early birds outs there. The entrance is really just a big wooden door which I thought was different but cool. I waited until we were allowed in so I decided to check out the patio and was informed they host Jazz groups upstairs on weekends (weather permitting) and found they have a bar up there as well. Turns out they also use the lobby in partnership for events with Writers Block next door. Yes yes v cool. I was extremely impressed by their snack assortments because I've never been to a theater that offers bottled soda, Kombucha and their extensive candy selection - what other theater offers Pocky as a snack at their snack bar? Perfect movie snack imo. There is but one theater and it has a decent size screen and sound system. Do keep in mind this room is also used for concerts or plays so one has to be mindful if they're looking for a full-on mega screen type experience they'd better stick to Regal or Galaxy Theaters . Anywhoo, I really enjoyed the experience and will definitely come again hopefully next time for a Jazz event on their lovely patio. :) read more

I have been waiting for a film I'd want to see here and after seeing Past Lives on their site, I had to come! I originally wanted to purchase online so we already had tickets, but for some reason the site wasn't letting me. I gave them a call and they said since the showing would most likely not be sold out, to come on in as it is cheaper to buy at box office. We arrived at theatre and there was more than adequate parking on the street and after 6pm it is is free. The look of the Beverly caught me eye as the all white facade stood out in the quiet downtown street. The overlooking terrace on the 2nd floor looked just as inviting. With its automatic doors that welcomes us to the fully stocked snack bar and mercy corner, it all felt upscale. Our tickets were $10 each with drinks being $5 for each glass soda bottle. The entire facility was clean and pristine--even restrooms. Staff was friendly and all smiles. My only qualms were seating as the chairs were a bit newer and firmer so I squirmed about a bit. I suggest if you are taller to sit towards the ends as you can stretch your legs. It was open seating so first come, first served. The sound system was pretty loud and bass rumbled. All in all it was a pleasant experience and definitely a place I'd enjoy coming back to again. read more

I've lived in cities like LA and NYC with huge presence of various cultural activities like museum and theaters that play independent films. Ever since I moved to Vegas, lack of culture of the city has always been my only concern until the Beverly Theater opened. So far I had the honor to watch some of the masterpiece films that were made well before I was born. My first impression of the theater was all about its impressive architecture and indoor decors, followed by the rooftop patio which I really wished they sold alcohol before heading for the films. Movie tickets are reasonably priced and street parking doesn't get too crowded. I'm looking forward to more great films at the Beverly Theater. read more

Areas for improvement: As someone said below, the theater itself could better match the comfort and quality of the overall building. There could be better food options--I'd rather give my money to the Beverly for a quality sandwich or something instead of having to go elsewhere for decent food. And yes, as the film nerd said below, more details could be given about the source and other things film nerds care about. That said, I'm not gonna nitpick on stars here. For me, what's showing is more important than what it's being shown on... I don't care so much about Dolby this-or-that. If you're easy going and like interesting movies and cultural events, the Beverly Theater is a fantastic night out. I'm thrilled that we have something like this in Vegas. Located in Downtown Las Vegas Tried this theater out for the first time this past Saturday. They had the showing for "Twin Peaks: Fire walk with me." My first impression was that the theater was enjoyable! I loved the intimate vibe that I got from this smaller theater in comparison to the regular ones. They had a great selection of craft beers and snacks. The only reason why I would give this theater a 4 stars instead of five is because of the seating. I'm now used to the reclining chairs and the spacious feet area and this is an amenity that they lacked in. read more

Decided to come here for girls night with some friends and we left feeling extremely disturbed. We chose a film that aligned with our availability and did not do too much research on the film other than reading the brief description on the Beverly Theater's website. Went in with an open mind and was quickly shocked to witness a film titled Palindromes which heavily sexualizes children and has a theme of pedophilia. I figured that all of the movies this theater offers must have great ratings because the theater only shows a limited selection of films. I guess we could have done more research on the movie we chose, but I was absolutely not expecting to see a full length graphic film about underage children's sex lives. My group was contemplating walking out of the movie less than 30 minutes in but chose to stay to give it a chance, and it just kept getting worse. Whoever's decision it was to show this movie at the Beverly Theater needs to reconsider their job. Will absolutely never return and would not recommend to anyone, unless you're a pedo. Additionally, the sound system was horrible compared to any regular movie theater and I agree with other reviews stating the seats are awful. Thought this would be a cute place for girls night but it was an actual nightmare. Note to self- don't go to places just because it looks nice. read more

Starting with a classy and beautiful look proceeding to a great hall that explores options of having a rooftop event or even a simple courtyard cocktail hour I love the accommodations that are made for all of their guests and how they can make any type of event, a unique custom style event to accommodate that groups needs, which is rare to find in Vegas offer offering both an outdoor and indoor facility. The concept of the overall movie theater is brilliant and the layouts of the entire hall is gorgeous. I am proud to refer several of my clients over the year to this particular location, knowing that they're going to have an amazing experience and each and every time that has been the end result.. i'm not just talking positively on behalf of one event. First off I'm thrilled this place is here, it's a long overdue non profit Indie Arthouse void that so desperately needed to be filled. The building is aesthetically fabulous and accessible, it oozes aforethought in design structure and amenities; from the retractable seat theater, thoughtful concession stand, The Segue bar and seating area upstairs. And of course their lineup of future film, literary and music events. I came for the one day only showing of Murukami's Blind Willow Sleeping Woman. And although I signed up for their mailing list when they first opened I have yet to receive anything from them and have already missed a number of films I would have gone to see had I known they were playing. I just happened to find out about this showing through other sources, so now on I'll make a point of checking their website so as not to risk any more damn it, missed it moments. I was unable to purchase tickets online, the site just wasn't having it, but there was no problem buying tickets onsite and the $10 ticket price is very reasonable and all the employees I encountered were lovely. But I couldn't help but wonder as to why and be a bit dismayed that this screening only had 5 other people viewing it. I'm hoping it's because it's a new venue and people don't know what is being offered. I've waited too long for this and don't want this growing stage to interfere with its intent or content to change because of lack of general interest. So why not 5 stars? A few things need some adjusting. A need for pricing of items in the concession stand. The sound for this feature was uncomfortably loud. Fixing the mailing list and online ticket purchasing snafus. And sadly, where I don't think there is a fix, the seats are not very comfortable. read more

We had our world premiere at The Beverly for our movie, the documentary on flair bartending , Shaken & Stirred. The venue was clean and classy. The staff was great and responsive. The open plan of the public areas made the event feel larger with great visual and physical interactivity between the spaces. Would mind hosting another premiere or event there! read more

This just may be the coolest place in Vegas (almost makes you want to keep it secret but they deserve recognition). We went for the first time last October to see Young Frankenstein (a favorite) and have been several times since. Their selection is always varied and wide ranged- something for everyone. We haven't had issues with parking and on weekends the parking out front is free. The theater is always clean, staff is nice, and I always have fun choosing a drink and snack for the movie. They have a cute little selection near the area you purchase your ticket. The theater itself is large but it feels like an intimate venue. The bathrooms are clean and the prices are very reasonable. I haven't gone but I know they also have special events and a movie club for frequent visitors as well for purchase. It's always a special treat to come here and I already know it's going to be the place I'll be spending most of the summer. Highly recommend.
