Since I frequently attended, worked, or volunteered at the myriad of year-around events throughout Southern California, I've seen this food truck on many occasions but somehow never made it to them until now. Truth be told, by default I chose them this time because none of the other food trucks catered to my "no-meat Friday" way of living. Would they be "the big cheese" I was hoping for!?: QUICK BIO "The Big Cheese food truck is bringing out some of the best grilled cheese and tomato soup on the LA streets. PURCHASE The Greener Sandwich ($9.00): A vegetarian treat that consisted of Chao cheese (I substituted for pepper jack cheese), avocado (they were out, so I substituted for grilled onions), black olives, roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts, all placed between a wheat bun, this was one healthy-tasting mofo which actually filled me up and left a smile on my face. As was usually the case, it was the cheese that made everything better and held it all together. The bread was buttered and grilled to near perfection with crunchy edges and finger-licking good. Although the prices were reasonable among the food truck scene, the menu selection was limited to a handful of sandwiches and sides (at least they where true to their namesake instead of the shotgun approach), while the service was to be commended. I LALALALALOVE cheese. The italian stallion sounded interesting so I ordered it. Also to take a picture of it. Wasn't a fan. Maybe because it was on wheat bread and too dry for me or... who knows. When you're vegan at a bar to catch some NFL and the food truck parked outside is a grilled cheese truck you pretty much say, "FML I'm eating fries for lunch." That's just the way it is and I'm not complaining. I get it. It's a bar, and food trucks generally provide bar-ish food. So then... imagine my surprise when I mosey up to The Big Cheese at halftime to order some bleh fries and instead spot a vegan grilled cheese on the menu. Staring me right in the face. "Seriously though?" Shocked. And not just some bullshit bread with vegan cheese, but a grilled sandwich with Chao cheese (excellent vegan brand), artichoke hearts, avocado, olives, and roasted red peppers. So I get one. Sandwiches were under flavored and overrated. Ok so I loved the buffalo fries, but the Sandwiches were way below par. Do NOT over estimate this place lol. No flavor, greasy bread, and bland sandwiches. I've been asked by many people at my office to write this review(they came to our office). I genuinely loved the buffalo fries! Perfect crisp, yummy buffalo sauce and chicken. However, the truck itself was dingy and dirty. They could've done a better job of cleaning. The truck was supposed to arrive at the location by 5pm. The truck was there, but we were told he would not be taking orders until 5:30pm. Once we came back and ordered the food took 15minutes to come out. I think it's because there was just 1 worker and that caused significant delays. Fortunately, the Italian stallion sandwich was actually pretty good. The other sandwich, the big cheese was just okay. This food truck has visited my apartment complex twice and we've enjoyed it both times. The sandwiches are all unique and extremely dense and filling. The I got the Italian stallion both times and it's seriously the best idea ever. Mozzarella sticks?? In a grilled cheese??? C'mon, you have to try it!!! My brother and I tried the stallion Italian and buffalo fries back in April at a music festival.. Best decision we made. The grilled cheese was perfectly grilled along with the mozzarella sticks inside, and a perfect amount of marinara sauce. There is nothing better than a grilled cheese. So when I see The Big Cheese truck at Grand Park, It was a no brainer to ditch my homemade lunch and enjoy an amazing grilled cheese. I'm inclined to go for a traditional grilled cheese with no extras. With that being said, it wasn't on the menu, so I waited my turn in line to ask about it. So, I'm not too sure if it was because the guy was by himself, or maybe it was because of the weather, but he had a non-pleasant look on his face. Like a kid doing chores. Like he didn't want to be there. This was before I could ask the question. So it was my turn in line. I asked if he did plain grilled cheeses. He gave me this sh*t look and said yes, in the most unenthusiastic way possible. I ordered two and took my place on the side to wait. As he was preparing to fulfill all the orders he had taken, he grabbed something heavy (a bowl, empty container or something) and threw it across, inside the truck. I mean really? Ok. I get it. People have bad days. I'm not holding it against him. As long I get a decent sandwich, I'm cool. Soooo, I get my two sandwiches. I immediately regret putting my boring homemade lunch away. Dried out bread, (not buttered well) and it appears to have 1 standard square slice of cheese. On a larger sourdough bread. I'd be embarrassed to say I made this for my kid at home. Not bad, but not great. First thing to mention is the bread used for any of the sandwiches is cheap. I buy better bread for myself at home. It would be nice if they used better quality bread and better variety. I ordered the Italian Stallion which was ok. If it was a ciabatta instead of processed wheat it would have been better. I also think the price for all the sandwiches are a bit high considering the quality of the ingredients are supermarket average. If it's the only food truck around I'll eat there, but otherwise would pass. read more

Guy operating the truck at Villa Siena on 8/28/19 was super rude to everyone. They have two signs for their menus with one completely scratched out. It said on the truck they take credit/debit card via Square yet the guy was saying they only take cash. A lot of Villa Siena residents left as he kept announcing it was cash only. He should of at least put a sign that said cash only. I ordered the Bossman $11 and BBQ (chicken) fries $7. Extremely overpriced and shitty quality. I got the buffalo fries and the boss grilled cheese and it was pretty tasty, and fairly priced for the serving. Not the quality I was expecting for the price. Ordered a plain grilled cheese for one of my kids and it didn't even have melted cheese in it, just grilled bread and two slices of cheese, still cool enough to see that it was too stacked slices. Mine was supposed to come with avocado but instead it was an almost non existant whisper of guacamole, just enough to see there was something green put on the bread. Meh. Tried this food truck at the 4th of July event in dtla. Had a "bossman" which is supposed to be turkey bacon avocado in grilled cheese form. The "avocado" was more like a teaspoon of green colored something smeared on the edge of the crust, and the turkey had been grilled so little that it was still cold in the middle. Wasn't inedible but very unimpressed. The tomato soup, however, was the consistency of chicken broth. I am disabled and a total foodie. I don't get away from my apartment as often as I use to, so when the trucks are supposed to be coming I really look forward to the trucks coming to us. I eat at all the food trucks that come to our apartment complex. They come from spring to fall all different types. I've tried everyone, some great, some not so good. I read their reviews I endlessly looked over all their menu photos and everything looked so amazing. Between my wife and I we ordered a good selection. My wife ordered: The Italian Stallion and the Cheese Fries. I ordered: The Big Cheese and a cup of Tomato Soup. My wife loved her Italian Stallion everything she was hoping it would be. We both ate the Cheese Fries together and "They were the bomb". I mean, just simple Fries and a mild cheese sauce, amazing. My sandwich was strangely really good, the entire sandwich was wrapped in cheese, then the BBQ chicken, swiss cheese, Wow !! Then I got to the tomato soup, I was so looking forward to a good bowl of soup. When I looked at it, it looked like a cup of greasy vegetable stock, but looks can be decieveing so I tried it. If that had any tomatoe in it I would be shocked. It had the consistency of oily broth. I would have given the other 3 items a score, I would say an easy 7.5 to 8. But that soup on its own no better than a very generous 2. Together unfortunately I would I'd give a very generous 4 to 4.5. Because when you're looking forward to a good bowl of tomato soup, and even a can of soup would have been good. What I received was awful and I'm not sure what it really was I received. The people are okay, guy is high as a kite who makes the grilled cheese. They came to a parking lot near my work and I expected more for $14. A thin and mediocre grilled cheese and a can of tea should probably run like $6 bucks max. Nothing notable or wow worthy. If this truck was parked near a brewery and there were drunk hungry folk they may make more money and taste better to the consumer. Otherwise, spend your $14 elsewhere. You could probably buy a whole pizza or even buy enough stuff to make grilled cheeses at home for like two weeks lol. Good idea and nice try but recipe needs work and better portions. read more
