It turns out it was a huffy with an E package bolted on ha ha. I rode this thing 10 times and granted it was a floor model they were using for test rides but it started ghost shifting on its own ride four. No big deal wasn't that bad but it rapidly got worse. By ride 10 it shifted off the ring once because it was... ghost Shifting. I'm utterly pissed because this thing is a piece of garbage and I have to get back home on Electric only and the shop is closed. I bring it in and the manager is talking to me, someone who raced expert, like I have no idea what happened and he did, which obviously was ridiculous. He actually argued with me and was telling me I should've brought it in weeks ago because ghost shifting is a major issue ha ha and there was another issue where they did not have a key for the battery when I bought it because it was a floor model. He was talking to me, accusing me of not bringing the bike in earlier like that was my fault I could not because I literally work 2 eight hour a day contracts and I was just getting better from being sick for three months. On top of all of this He was saying I rode it into the ground when it's literally 10 rides to the beach haha. So all this just so you know and to the owner you need to talk to that guy or replace him...not good! If He's talking to somebody who's been racing longer than he's been a mechanic...What is he saying to other people who don't know any better?

When we arrived, we were greeted by a young man who was ready to help. Since we were just browsing, we had a look around. They don't have a ton of options at this location (they have another on Phillips). When we looked at kids bike prices, it gave me a bit of pause. The "cheapest" one we found was over $400 (maybe I'm old, maybe I'm cheap, I don't know), but I wasn't expecting to pay over $400 for a bike. In the meantime, all the staff looked knowledgeable, were able to answer any questions, and they do repairs in house, so this would be a great location to get your bike serviced at.

The reason the chain came off is that the rear tire was so loose you could literally turn the nuts with your bare hands. Luckily, I had tools. I reattached the chain, and tightened the nuts. The chain was also very rusty, so I had to liberally oil it. I would think that Beach Life Rentals would inspect the bikes before they drop them off to the customer, but apparently they do not.

The kind of job that shouldn't take longer than about 30 min. I explained that I'm from 1.5 hr away and I'd like to make the drive only once if possible. I asked if they would be able to schedule me an appointment to get the work done. He said I'd have to call back and speak with Jeff the next day. I called back and spoke to Jeff and explained my situation. He said they're really busy and wouldn't be able to get to it today. I asked about next weekend or the weekend after. It became very clear, he had absolutely no interest in doing the work. I said I'll find another shop. Poor customer service. Sadly more of the norm when it comes to bike shops these days.
