We were there EARLY. It didn't stay empty for long.

Yup, just as good as the first time. This has become our new "go to" for weekend breakfast. Nuff said!

The breakfast was very good. I really enjoyed the pancakes, apple sausage and the eggs. All the good was very fresh and the service was really good. This is possibly the BEST breakfast in Modesto. 10 out of 10.

Came to the Biscuit Basket after being told Saucin' It Up Chicken was having kitchen problems. On a Saturday afternoon, this place was still poppin' and we ended up waiting an additional 20 min for a table. The inside is spacious with tall ceilings and huge industrial fans overhead. The room is split into two parts (I think they took over the business next door and converted it to more tables). With all this square footage, they really crammed a lot of tables together. I felt like some center tables were bumped right next to another. The SO and I ordered: - Millionaire bacon burger sub fries for onion rings - the burger was good, but the onion rings were top-tier. - Cobb salad - SO said there were some weird pieces of lettuce and he couldn't finish it all. - Side of biscuits w gravy - the biscuits were just... fine? Not fluffy, but a little buttery. I wasn't wowed by it. The gravy had a good peppery taste, but also wasn't my personal favorite. We were sat at a teeny tiny table where a condiment basket took up like 20% of the room. It definitely forced us to make some Tetris moves when our food and water were all on the table. Eventually, the SO knocked his water over and spilled it all over. Either get bigger tables or make the condiment basket smaller, can't have both. Service was fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, the SO and I were good to try this once. If your onion rings stood out more than the biscuits, should probably change the name to the Onion Ring Basket (or Condiment Basket) :P

    Cinnamon roll (eggless) very good.

Friendly but busy service. Good food, could be improved. Biscuits were as good as expected. Salad was sad sad iceberg lettuce and dressing could be improved. Also prices were pretty high even for senior plates ($15.99- egg, toast/biscuit, meat). Cobb salad $18.99 (full) half $15.99- iceberg 99%, as mentioned above was largest disappointment. Bacon was pretty good, full slices were cut up. Coffee was excellent $3.99 - Clayton coffee. Very good body and no sour. Orange juice $8.99 L size. Pretty pricey and really too sweet- too much sugar. Home fries $5.99 for a side - or else I would have ordered it, looked very well made. Fruit $5.99 for a cup

First time trying this place that I've heard coworkers have recommended me to try. Came here on a Saturday morning and the place was busy and had a 15 minute wait. We asked the waitress her recommendations and she suggests their biscuit (2 for $6.99) and green chilaquiles which is a Mexican style breakfast. So the biscuit- it was okay and there were a lot of jellies and jams provided. I usually get biscuits for free in other restaurants so I don't think it was worth paying for it. Nothing special. 3 stars The Green chilaquiles- we decided to share a plate, added avocado. Item was $17.99, $2.25 added for splitting a plate... and $2 for avocado. Not sure how I feel about adding a charge for sharing a plate. Breakfast was fine. I'd probably go for a traditional American breakfast in the future. So for me, it was a 3 star. Now that I've tried this place, I don't think I will be a regular customer since the wait isn't worth it for a local breakfast place.

Food a bit pricey, but service extremely good always someone asking if you need anything and coffee pouring never stops. Although I wish coffee would be more hot got mine lukewarm every single time. Space nice yet, too many tables those 2 seated tables too small can't fit much. Food- chicken friend steak very good as for chilaquiles disappointed the sauce cold which made them cold.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away--definitely recommend getting there early. We sat at the counter bar, were greeted again, and had our drink order taken promptly. The coffee was on point. I asked for a recommendation and went with the chicken fried steak breakfast, and the homestyle potatoes were delicious. Thank you, we'll definitely be driving from Fresno to visit again definitely 5 star place PS the locals were also very friendly and helpful in ordering food..!

This is the second time we've visited. Wait times are typically long, especially on a weekend but it's well worth it! Highly recommend trying the biscuits with whipped butter and homemade strawberry jam. Staff is incredibly attentive and helpful. I definitely need to come back to try their lunch items.

Pictures speak for themselves. Top notch place, great food, definitely a treat for brunch!! Hard to find southern food in California and this was great! Note we are from California not the south so do what you will for that. Coffee refills on demand- what else is more perfect?

I actually enjoyed this place. The food was delicious & we had really fast service. It was super busy and we got a table for two right away. Giving it three stars because our silverware on the table was noticeable dirty. We also had to remind our server to bring us a coffee refill twice so that was annoying.

The Biscuit Basket is small and very busy -- so definitely be prepared to wait! That said, they do such a thoughtful job taking care of guests while you wait. The complimentary coffee out front is such a nice touch and instantly sets the tone. We walked in with a party of 8 while visiting, fully expecting a long wait (they told us up to 50 minutes), but we were pleasantly surprised and seated in about 20 minutes instead! Huge win. Our server was great -- helpful, patient, and super friendly. Once seated, the food came out pretty quickly too. I ordered the chilaquiles, and they were delicious -- the chips stayed crunchy (not soggy at all!), and the green sauce had just the right kick. My vanilla latte was also pretty delicious. My niece ordered the breakfast burrito and gave it a 10/10, literally excited with every bite. My husband really enjoyed his country fried steak with biscuit and gravy. The only miss for our table was the cinnamon roll -- my nephew felt the texture was a bit off. Now we totally get why this place is always packed. When a spot is this busy all the time, you know the food is good. Definitely worth the wait -- we'd absolutely come back!

I love this place! The chilaqueles is delish, the cinnamon roll is divine, the French toast is great, the eggs are fluffy! The chicken Fried chicken is yummy...... the biscuit doesn't have an aftertaste. Crispy yet moist Service is awesome, especially from the lady who comes with the building!!! We will stop in everytime we get a chance!

I have left wonderful reviews in the past for this place but I have to share my experience…read morerecently. My boyfriend and I have been to Standard Pub several times during the day, and every visit has been fantastic. We've enjoyed the food, drinks, and even had the pleasure of speaking with the owner on multiple occasions. The service was always welcoming, and the food was consistently phenomenal. Because of those great experiences, we decided to bring some friends on a Saturday night. We arrived around 7:30 PM, and the atmosphere looked promising. There appeared to be a DJ setting up, and the crowd seemed excited for a night of music, food, and drinks. Unfortunately, our experience that evening was completely different from what we had come to expect. We ordered food and drinks, and while our server wasn't outright rude, he seemed uninterested in providing the level of service we had previously received. As the night went on, things became increasingly odd. Shortly after ordering another round of drinks, while our drinks were still full and we had just received them, the server approached our table and asked if we were finished. My boyfriend jokingly responded, "No, let me talk to your manager," and laughed, assuming the server was joking as well. The server responded, "Yeah, it's my brother," but with an attitude that left everyone at our table looking at each other wondering what had just happened. He then informed us that we needed to put a credit card on file. At that point, we had already been there for over an hour, and it seemed strange that this requirement was only being brought up then. We also noticed that no other tables around us were being asked for a card. The most disappointing part came when we received the bill. There was an additional $60 service charge added--$35 on my friends' bill and $25 on ours. Confused, we asked for an explanation. The explanations we received kept changing. First, we were told it was because my boyfriend was sitting with another group, which was completely false. Then we were told it was because the bill exceeded $100. After that, we were told it was because there were more than six people in our party, despite there only being four of us. The inconsistent explanations were frustrating and made it feel as though the staff were simply making up reasons to justify the charge. Our issue wasn't necessarily with a service fee itself--it was the lack of disclosure and the conflicting stories we were given when we asked about it. To make matters worse, the receipt also included a separate line for an additional tip. After discussing it with them and explaining that additional charges should be clearly communicated to customers, the service charge was ultimately removed. This review is not a reflection of the food, which remains excellent, nor of our previous experiences at Standard Pub. It is solely based on the service and handling of the situation during our Saturday night visit. We left feeling disappointed and confused, especially because this establishment had earned our trust through many positive visits in the past. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident and that management addresses these issues so other customers don't have a similar experience

The food was on the table only about five minutes before she arrived, and with warm sandwiches and soup involved, the timing mattered. Everything was just the right temperature when we sat down to eat. We both ordered the Uptown Gal--roast beef, giardiniera, Dijon aioli, arugula, and white cheddar on house focaccia. The flavors were spot on, and these are substantial sandwiches. In fact, next time we could probably share one. We also shared the jalapeño Parmesan artichoke dip, which was excellent. We enjoyed some there and brought the rest home. The soups didn't have the same opportunity--we polished those off pretty quickly. Very flavorful. The iced tea was clearly freshly brewed and quite strong, which I actually prefer because I can adjust it to taste. It came in a generously sized glass as well. Lucille is a small place, but they've made very good use of the space. The interior is attractive and has a slightly modern, new-age feel. What I got was fried potatoes. When I questioned the server he just said that's how they come. Do they not have raw potatoes in the back they could have boiled for me?? The taste of the omelette was meh and I only ate 4 bites. I obviously didn't eat the potatoes. The English Muffin felt oily, like someone touched it with greasy hands. I had asked for it to be dry and with no butter. So basically I didn't eat any of my food and will not be back (this was my third time here and none of the other experiences were any better.) Such a shame because it is only 5-minutes from my house. My dad ordered the chicken fried steak and my mom got the taco salad and both of their meals were inedible too. The food here is just BAD. I told the server I didn't like my food and he didn't even answer me. He took away three plates of uneaten food and no one asked if there was an issue and no manager bothered to come over to even talk to us or try and make it right. What a HUGE waste of money. Don't bother eating here...so many other places to eat that are so much better. This place was packed and no real waiting area...everyone just squished together. This is a hustling and bustling place, so if you are looking for a quiet spot, at least don't go when we did. Best part of this place is their wall for taking pictures.
