Chica seed vanilla w/strawberries and banana
    Michael F.

When I visit a new city, I try not to repeat restaurants for any meal. And while I did manage to explore some great food options while in the Dallas area, I did double dip for breakfast at The Bistro. Net, it was worth grabbing a second bite. The first of my three day stay, I just grabbed a juice on my way out. It was a bit pricy, but check out was quick. I got up a bit earlier day 2, so ordered this chica seed vanilla w/strawberries and banana dish to go. I don't remember the full name of it, but can say it was a healthy portion and came out promptly as well. The chica seed dish itself was just ok, but I loved the fresh fruit. My last day I still woke up early enough for a decent breakfast so I decided to dine in. I ordered a coffee and the avocado toast. The toast came on whole grain with pickled red onions, a hard-cooked egg, and a small bed of arugula. Again, a bit pricy for breakfast (but not for avocado toast), I was very satisfied with the dish. Actually, I wish I had ordered it the day before because it would be worth repeating. Service was quick on both my to-go and dine in days. The eating area was clean and it wasn't difficult to find a seat to relax. You can bill to your room or pay as you go. Net, an overall solid experience!

Breakfast was good. They staff at breakfast was very accommodating. The night guy on Sunday wasn't accommodating at all hence why I call out the breakfast staff. Had the avocado toast with over medium eggs

The service at the bistro is amazing. They all have such great attitudes and are so nice. So happy to come to the bistro after a long day of work. They have a decent variety of drinks and the food is good quality. Had the shrimp rigatoni in vodka sauce for dinner and was delicious. Just wanted to add that Henok is such a great host! What a breath of fresh air.

My expectations were low for a restaurant in the lobby of a Courtyard by Marriott but they were FAR exceeded. Henok clearly takes great pride in his work. The Brussel sprouts dish was one of the best I've ever had (and I order them a lot). The flatbread was good too. You just never know!

We had two servers and both were kind and helpful with taking our order and getting drinks and food out on time! The restaurant is mood-lit and vibey. It's a calm atmosphere and their bar area is stunning. I got the fries and friends, which came with three dipping sauces. This is a very generous portion and my boyfriend and I were unable to finish it between the two of us- would be great to share with 4 people, in my opinion! I also got the Brussel sprouts, which I did finish. They are cooked to perfection and have an incredible garlic sauce. They used to have grapes mixed in, which I LOVED! However, they have since changed the menu. I understand it was an odd pairing and maybe guests didn't want to try it, but it was great!!! Sad to see it change, but still good! My boyfriend and I both got the great rum punch, and it packed a punch! Although l couldn't taste the alcohol on the sweet drink, I could feel it! We had a great time and will be back. We wanted to recommend the charcuterie board, we get it most times we come! They always have fresh and seasonal options they put on the board and have even made a fully vegetarian board for me before, they're great!

He was personable, helpful, and attentive throughout our meal. We were excited for him becoming a first time uncle a couple hours before our meal. Started with an iced tea, which was fresh brewed, and some fried green tomatoes. They only hiccup for us was it seemed like they were served with white tartar sauce, instead of remoulade sauce. The fried green tomatoes were very lightly battered and perfectly fried. Delicious! My wife liked the tartar sauce, but I was disappointed. You don't find pickle chunks in remoulade sauce. For our entrées, she had the Reuben and fries, and I had the fried chicken strips and waffle (also came with fried eggs). Both were really good; huge portions we could not finish.

Recently, I had lunch here, and they now have a new farm to table menu that really exceeded my expectations. The Ranch has reinvented itself many times, and now it's a restaurant I would visit for the food AND atmosphere. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - At its core, it's a bar with several indoor and outdoor dining areas with a country theme. The Ranch is so versatile that you can host a private event while people dine in the main area while others hang out at the bar. There's also a charming outdoor area that is nice if the weather is cool. Best of all - it's full of people and energy. 1 Star. Service - Our server was great. We explained the concept, went over the menu, and while a large table occupied his time, several of the staff were helpful. Everyone was dressed in Cowboy/Ranch gear. Texas Southern Hospitality is real. 1 Star. Food - My most recent visit was like visiting a new restaurant. The Ranch's menu has changed, and everything was new. I started with the pork belly appetizers, which was a great start to meal. The tender pork meat had a layer of sweet + salty belly that melts in your mouth. I went with the Barbacoa Grilled Cheese that was one of the best I've ever had. The barbacoa (shredded BBQ beef) was the star and was better than any brisket grilled cheese I've had. The sourdough was grilled with lots of butter, so after devouring the sandwich I had to wash my hands. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Absolutely. I had been to The Ranch so many times I considered a place to gather for Happy Hour. Not anymore. The new menu is incredible, and I can't wait to return. 1 Star.

Ordered two. The Vaquero Shrimp were the undisputed highlight -- genuinely outstanding. Everything else fell flat. Steak was bland, fries arrived cold. Two visits, same story. My guess is the overpriced menu items deliver what the atmosphere promises but the $30 deal is a value trap. The Ranch looks the part but the kitchen isn't backing it up at this price point. SAS Verdict: Not Approved. The Vaquero Shrimp alone can't carry the whole meal.

There are multiple budget hotels in the area and the only food choices within reasonable walking distance are Denny's, gas stations and an outdoor food shed at another motel. There is a well curated list of local craft beers (8). Make a point to ask for the separate alternative "healthy menu". The food on that menu is very different from the comfort food on the main menu and it is available in half orders. I tried a half order of chicken and avocado arepas and a half order of tuna tataki. Both were delicious and visually pleasing. Staff is attentive, engaged but not intrusive. Prices for these two items were $8 each, very reasonable.

This includes a few nights at the bar and 2 nights in my room. The staff was never overly inviting but they were usually busy with a demanding crowd of hotel guests. Ordering through the Marriott app looked like a great option but it wouldn't work once they asked you how you'd like to pay. When you go downstairs and scan their QR code, it brings you to the same interface but on a website rather than an app, and that worked fine. The chicken wrap with fries was pretty good and was my go to. The house salad wasn't great and I wouldn't try it again. The half order of the tuna was decent but I loved the pickled veggies under them and would have just had a bowl of those! I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but having this inside your hotel for convenience is nice.
