If you want something different... The Dinner Club traveled to Choctaw last Friday to check out the Black Raven Pub...an Irish pub. We were not disappointed. Although located in a strip mall, the pub goes out of its way to make you feel Irish. The atmosphere was charming, the live band was outstanding, and the service was friendly. But let's talk about the food. We started with Scotch Eggs and an Irish version of onion rings that they call Celtic Rings. For dinner, we had Fish-N-Chips (the Friday special), Shepherd Pie, and Corned Beef and Cabbage. Everything was wonderful and we each thought we had the best item on the menu. Our only complaint is that the seating area is small--so get there early. We will definitely be back. read more

They nailed the Reuben and they have Smithwick's, Guinness, and Harp on tap. What's not to love?

Great little bar with good food. My favorite is the fish and chips. Stop in and check them out!

Just had lunch at Black Raven. I thought the food had taken a nosedive. Greasy separated Celtic onions. Mushy cod fillets. The reuben sandwich proportions were small. Something has changed, because months before it was really good. I hope management takes heed. read more

We frequented the Choctaw location many times in the past, but this was our first visit to the new BR in Harrah. What a great space for a pub! There was a musician in the front dining area, which is a bit more open, a long dark bar in the middle and a cozy, more intimate, room in the rear. Our server was friendly, energetic and attentive. We shared the Celtic (onion) rings for an appetizer - they were tasty, as always, but could have been a bit crispier. My fish and chips were perfection, although the shepherds pie was a bit bland tonight. It's pub food, though, so not expecting a Michelin star! Our server told us the craic is great on the weekends and there's often standing room only - gonna have to go back and check that out. There is parking on the street, on the side and in the back and you can enter through the rear or the front door. This is such a great addition to the developing "downtown" of Harrah! read more

This place truly amazed me for oklahoma. Great food, check. Great bar, check. Service off the chart, check. Decor is outstanding. Other okc so-called 5 star restaurants should take notes. Went twice in one week because there was other menu items we wanted to try... next time a Friday or Saturday when they have live entertainment. The Black Raven is an oasis in the sea of same old same old okc restaurants. Yes and it is worth the trip to Choctaw. read more

I travel a lot and this has become a go to spot for dinner for me. This is a small homey spot that is a great break from the ordinary. After a few trips to Ireland I would say the menu is authentic and I have eaten most things on the menu and have not had anything that was less than a great meal. I highly recommend! read more

Traveling from California to Georgia and happened on this place in Oklahoma. How lucky were we! Had such a fun night with the Irish food and live music! Our waitress, Sarah, was outstanding in making sure we understood the menu and then taking care of us all through the evening! Wonderful food, music and service!!! A group of us went last night which coincidentally was the pubs 1 year anniversary night. Quite the crowd in this little establishment. The food was fabulous. I think by the end of our night we had 5 orders of fish and chips delivered, 2 orders of Guinness fries and several other dishes. The beer selection is somewhat limited compared to other pubs. This was a comfortable, friendly, laid back evening. The only negative was the service was extremely slow. It could be due to the large amount of people that were in and out during our visit. We will definitely give it another go. Too bad we live so far, as this pub would be a great hang out for our friend group. read more

This place is awesome!! Make sure and go on a live music night. Food is outstanding and delicious! Don't forget to order the bread pudding when you order your main dish. Relatives took us to BR for lunch. What a fabulous restaurant. Some of us had bangers and mashed while others had Irish Stew. Oh man, it was good. It was awkward when we walked in and stood there for a second in front of the band playing, waiting to be told if we sit anywhere or wait to be seated. No signs or anything. The food was really good though! We ordered fish & chips and bangers & mash. I felt the fish and chips order was on the small side but my husband felt the bangers and mash was plentiful. Food and drinks were really good. Tried a Highland Ghost drink for the first time and it turned out to be good. The place is really small but seams to be very popular. Went on a Friday about 5:30 and before we left the place was full. The service was great but took forever for our food to arrive; which I assume was because it was busy. They had live folk music which was nice for a change. Bangers and mash, Shepard's pie, and Raven burger were all really delicious. read more

The atmosphere of this pub is very comforting. Some nights that have live music, which just adds to the experience. They are never fully staffed, so don't go here of you are pressed for time. Their food is delicious, and is consistent in taste. Their menus need some work though. They are cardboard and when they get wet they become warped. They are rather nasty. read more

Wow! What a great surprise in a strip mall in Choctaw. Great food, great beer, great music. Don't let the location and the outside keep you from going in. Best fish and chips in OKC area. Excellent food and good service. Had the corned beef & cabbage. The live band was very good. Made for an enjoyable evening.

The food is amazing, the service second to none, great music and the ambiance is as good as it gets. Its a hard choice between the shepherds pie, the orchard salad with grilled salmon, the corned beef and cabbage, fish and chips or the Reuben. The appetizers are delicious and easily make a meal. The servings are large enough to share (or take for lunch the next day), the price is more than reasonable. They have a large selection of beers, drinks etc. The hot chocolate is a great cold winter night drink. read more
