We had our wedding at the Omni (The hotel itself was amazing). The bar manager Erika Lawson confronted me at the end of the night about an almost $800 tab she thought one of my guests had, which I ended up paying. Once I brought it up to my guest that Erika said opened it, they immediately told me they didn't make this tab. The original tab was also opened over an hour before my wedding ended (which included an open bar), the guest was my maid of honor and none of my guests were at the Black Swan at this point because why would anyone go pay for drinks when they can get them for free???? After trying to get this resolved the day after while I was still at the hotel, I was handed off to multiple other people, and then written off by Ms. Lawson. Even after I had proof that the guest wasn't the one who opened that tab, Ms. Lawson would not reply to multiple emails about this situation and effectively ghosted me. DO NOT come here unless you're paying in cash and ready to deal with this shady operation, it was a huge stain on the night having to deal with something that management roped me into. read more

The Black Swan has a ton of potential and I do mean a ton, located in the basement of The Omni Hotel - Houston the layout and underground concept truly added to the mystic of this venue! We went on a Saturday evening and there was no crowd none what so ever. Lol. Greeted by what I assumed to be an off duty cop who asked for IDs prior to entering; I noticed a few cowboys and a couple dancing on the dance floor to some early 2000' hits after quickly noticing that and I do mean quickly I immediately headed to the bar to get a drink; where we were greeted quickly and with a smile! There were plenty of bartenders around just not many patrons! If am not mistaken this location recently did some renovations and just reopened which is why I wanted to check it out. This much older crowd gravitated to the the left side of the room; which was unquie! Being the rebel in the room I decided to go to the left - the layout was spacious and very modern! Decided to dip after the one drink! Again, this was located in a hotel and we couldn't have been in there for more than an hour we charged $20 for valet and the car hadn't even moved far - this is picky and since there was no cover no big deal; just noted. If you want to host an event here or have a big group of friends and I do mean big with no real plans or place to go check this place out! It has a ton of potential and us millennials can make this place the next big thing; although it is secluded and around the corner from what I thought would be a axe murder standing in the drive way! I came to visit my best friend who was in town for the weekend. Seyara gave us the best service I've experienced in years!!! She was already occupied with other guests, but still managed to greet us almost immediately and let us know she would be with us in a moment. Her co-bartender Diana was equally as helpful and positive. We made a point to let their supervisor Erica know how phenomenal our experience was and she met us with equal enthusiasm about how wonderful her employees are. 15/10 we will be returning!!! read more

This is belligerent bridesmaids and groomsmen central. But fun ones having a blast and living up the single life. Formerly a hangout for 70+-year-olds, The Black Swan underwent a slight makeover over a year ago, and since then, it's stomping grounds for wild, 20-something crowd. On the weekends, getting in is never a problem (it's a hotel bar/lounge after all) and the bar, dance floor, elevators and hotel lobby are always packed. They have seven or so plush booths as well as some seating in other areas, but get there early for those. Taxis run a plenty, so don't hesitate to leave your car there and cab it home. If you swing in on a weekday, they have a decent happy hour and a short order food menu. I remember them featuring specialty cocktails, but I haven't tried any of them. I can't say I have any fond memories associated with The Black Swan. Perhaps it's because my former workplace (*hiss*) used to throw all its parties there and they were utter sh*tshows and a half, in the worst way possible way. Just add alcohol to a bunch of overworked young "professionals" (I use that term quite loosely) and epic disaster is bound to result. Aside from the unpleasant association of The Black Swan, this seems to be where Hot Mess Club of Houston seems to congregate for whatever reason. As soon as the work events ended, bam! - eager bleary-eyed hot messes seem to descend upon this place. Maybe its the allure of potential one-night stands? And the creeper dudes it attracts (who doesn't love those?)? Surely it couldn't be the weak sauce overpriced drinks! To its credit, Black Swan is rather massive, should you choose to rent out the entire bar area and adjoining party rooms. I have no idea how everything is on a typical special-events-free weekend evening (I've declined all opportunities to join friends here - it's not like they have pleasant experiences themselves - yet the insist on returning - why?!), so perhaps the two stars is not completely warranted. This place is definitely cool. I like it ... at certain times of the night. And not at all times of the night. It's in the basement of the Omni. Just to save you time wandering around trying to find it, especially if you are walking in from the further garage (white lot? I think) and you end up at the pool and can't find a way in, but you can take a gander through the glass into the fitness room before winding your way through the cigar smoker's patio and into the lobby, winding around to the hospitality desk, and then taking a left to the elevator bank and down into the basement. I thought this was going to be more industrial, like a club in Deep Ellum back in Dallas. It's not industrial or gritty. There are wood tables and things, not stainless steel or black paint on the walls. It basically feels like a country club bar in the clubhouse if you stick around the bar. There is a tv and couches, so you know where to find me globviously. Bartenders are nice. There is a dance floor if you want to do that. The drinks are poured favorably for you, which is always nice. There is a wide selection of things beyond just "scotch or scotch?" and they even have a pretty nice beer selection for a place that does not exactly scream beers & bros 4lyfe. The Omni itself is very nice. If you use the restroom in the lobby they have real towels, like cloth towels, in the restroom to dry your hands. That's a classy touch. Black Swan gets ridiculously busy, noisy, packed, and not really my jam if you stay too late in the evening. If you get there early straight from the office it's a more relaxed, quiet, chill out spot for a drink and some tv with the workers from the nearby Riverway towers and travelers staying in the hotel. So it's cool, nice atmosphere. Then later it becomes like a sardine can with Jersey Shore club people packing in with their silly striped shirts, fake tans, too much hair gel, and buckets of cologne. So just like Natalie Portman in the film Black Swan, there is a bit of a transition. This is an amazing Friday night "first spot" for a relaxing drink or two, before you move on to dinner or something else. Definitely worth an adventure, even if just to meet an interesting traveler staying in the hotel, or simply to say you drank some of Uncle's cough syrup in the basement of a nice hotel - that has a certain kind of cache that can only be matched by drinking tequila with a Manager in his office in a Taco Bell franchise on Cinco de Mayo. read more

I came here for a post wedding party. My friends were staying here after their wedding and decided to throw their after wedding party here so that way they could just crash out upstairs. Surprisingly this place is HUGE. There are multiple rooms, we actually have a private room on the side with our own private bartender. It was just OK, but DAMN, drinks were expensive, my bar tab was 200+, and I didn't even order that much. I guess a lot of other weddings had the same idea because everywhere I looked it was a bunch of 20 somethings in wedding type dresses and suits. This place really is like a wedding after party, but that's not exactly a good thing. I for one feel like sticking myself with a rusty fork every time the Cupid Shuffle comes on and every middle aged woman with the painted on 2 sizes too small party dress and high heels gets on the dance floor to line dance. Or how about the classic 1998 Eiffel 65's Blue followed by "I Like Big Butts And I Cannot Lie"? That is cutting edge. I can somewhat tolerate it at a real wedding but not when I'm paying $15 for a watered down drink. I was actually there for a fundraiser private party but everybody was out in the general area and the place does have potential, but even though the hotel is beautiful and scenic, this place is under ground. Parking is not too bad really since they have multiple parking lots...the first one being a very expensive $15 for over 3 hours and the other ones cheaper. Drinks are VERY expensive - $9 for a well drink. $15 for mixed drinks. They have a specialty drink too which is mostly soda water and champagne. So overall, I guess if you want a place to bring your mistress, this place is nice...nobody will know you were there. It will be "our little secret". If you're here to take a shot at depressed drunk bridesmaids who are vulnerable, it might also work for you. If you are at an actual wedding and want to celebrate surviving the day with the Bridezilla, this might be good too. Otherwise, I don't see why anybody would go here by choice. read more

How have I never reviewed Black Swan?! If you go to enough weddings in Houston, you're going to see this place from time to time. With the correct expectations, it should be fun enough. (Review is for the weekends. No comment on weeknights) This is not an exclusive club with fine drinks, sparkler bottle service and some acclaimed DJ. What it is though, is a guaranteed hot mess of fun if you're looking to dance like an idiot and bump into every wedding reception after-after party on a Saturday. FYI, Drinks are a little overpriced, especially if you're ordering cocktails by your favorite label. Bartenders are pretty quick even when it gets packed, though. Wedding reception just let out at midnight and everyone is still looking to keep the dancing going? You've found your spot. I have to say I love Seyara. I came in a little before a charity event swarmed in. Regardless of how busy she was, I think the longest my glass was empty before she asked if I would like another one was like 30 seconds. Her personality is absolutely amazing. You can tell she loves her job. She was dancing, smiling and made everyone around her happier. I'll admit I got a little pissed at some men ordering(because of the way they said it) but she kept composure and served them as well as she did everyone else. I'm at a point in my life where weddings, at the very least, are a quarterly event. But if you love a good wedding reception (complete with DJ, dance floor, awkward old relatives of the couple, and jaded drunk bridesmaids), you can get your fix any Saturday night HERE. The Black Swan is simply fantastic. My friends and I love to get our dance on but not too keen on the club scene and not too talented to be at a salsa club...so the Black Swan is where we go to get a little crazy. Don't expect to dance to "oontz oontz oontz" or the latest beats from DJ whoever - the music here is strictly cheese fest top 40. Basically, it's a dance floor created for you to become a complete *hot mess* while doing the cupid shuffle. Not in the mood to dance? No worries - plenty of booths, tables and standing room away from the dance party for you and your friends. Be sure to dress up (no tennis shoes or graphic tees) as they do have a dress code. Yeah, The Black Swan is kinda cheesy, but they have a big dance floor, they play a wide variety of music (salsa, 70s, 80s, 90s, pop, hip hop, even some world music) and they take requests. There's a wedding at the Omni almost every Saturday and guests flock to this basement club to finish off the party, so you usually find a crazy mix of people from all over the place. There's also some terrible dancing, which makes for a hilarious night. It can sometimes get a little crowded, acoustics aren't that great, and drinks are pricey, but my girlfriends and I always have a blast. read more

The club seemed to be recently updated. The drinks were good as well as the music. Ages varied which I didn't mind. Bartenders were pretty busy but were on top of things. The atmosphere was mixed with both party goers and those who just wanted to enjoy their drinks and watch the crowd. Restrooms were surprisingly clean for being a club. If you are wearing a cocktail dress or a tie, you won't feel overdressed here because most of the crowd is coming from a reception also. Meh. I expected more considering it's inside of the Omni and you're paying upwards of $12 for a drink. It looked really outdated and sadly to say...tacky :/ And not that it's a bad thing but it was definitely an older crowd of singles getting down. I spent New Years here a week ago with my girlfriend and we had a great time. Of course we're both 21 and were by far the youngest people here, but it was still a great atmosphere. The music was pretty good, with a bunch of 80's songs thrown in there (to satisfy the late 20's to 40-somethings in the crowd) but it was a good time. When you walk in the bar is on the left with seating all along to the right side. There is also another room through a doorway near the dance floor to hang out. The dance floor is relatively small compared to what I've experienced, but still works. Hell, all you need is a 1 ft square to get your groove on right? Drinks were very good in my opinion, vodka soda and rum/coke were both made to my liking, and helped my dancing out quite a bit. I think the best part of the night was watching a guy in his 50's put the moves on a girl by whipping out a Michael Jackson-esque spin move. Good times. read more

I went to a private St. Patrick's day party here. So I really can't comment on the DJ or the "normal" clientele. The space is strange. There was the bar, then the dance floor was below. But it was big enough for our group. My Appletini (had to go with a green drink) was strong and I give them Kudos for the holiday appropriate Green Budlight! I am very VERY glad I wore flats. The free parking is "over the river and through the woods" for real! (don't make the mistake and park in the first garage, go a bit further down the windy road to the "additional Omni parking" ) The poor chicks were tripping all over their stilettos! The signage leading you from the garage to the hotel was small and confusing. I would definitely go to another event there, but it is too far out from my house to be a regular. read more

I'm not quite getting the bad reviews on this place, especially from the guys because this place is packed full of women (emphasis on women - not "girls"). It's not a typical Houston club (no egotistical bouncers and people who just want to be seen), but rather a gathering spot for people who just want to down a drink or two, dance, hang out, and have some good fun. The age range is pretty widespread (on Saturdays anyway) because a lot of wedding goers come here afterwards. I saw a lot of suits/ties but also people in jeans. Get there early and you won't be carded. I'm not saying this to encourage under-aged drinking, but merely because it's evidence of the crowd that the place draws ... the "no drama, I'm just here to party with some friends" kinda peeps. In a nutshell, this is why I rate them 4 stars: *Busy, yet incredibly fast bartenders who know how to make drinks *No cover & free parking *Good music (Top 40, plus 80's/early 90's, and some Latin) *Plenty of seating area, including one TV in a central area *You can valet for $12 and not have to worry about trekking through a parking lot in them shoes that will remind you of how much time you spent on the dance floor in the morning. Went here for a casual Friday night with my friends. The bar is attached to Omni hotel. On getting inside, the layout was nice but it seemed like everyone was on a different level than we were... 90% of the people here were pissy drunk. I mean it's a bar so that was fine but then majority of the females had no shoes on, the bartender was nasty, the drink I ordered (Houston sour) was so nasty that I had to politely ask the bartender to add in more sour (made no difference). It was the beginning of my friend's birthday weekend and I must say, we should have taken the party some place else. The DJ also played songs from like 1992... It's 2016, go figure! read more

I came here like 4 years ago with my mom, aunts, and cousins. We had a blast since it was our first outing out all together. The music was mixed, nothing to rave about, which was perfect for our group. Drinks expensive. Returned here recently and there were lots of white people who don't know how to dance. I'm prefacing by noting that I had some very high expectations for this place because of the rave reviews from friends about the "unparalleled dance floor." The dance floor was pretty nice, not gunna lie, and the DJ was spinning some hot tunes, for the most part...then it sort of got to 80s and early 90s music that I don't care too much for when in the mood to really dance...which is when I departed... It's a cute place, nice bar area and a separated dance floor, which is very nice to have. There didn't seem to be any wedding affairs going on so it wasn't quite bumpin' I'd say, but a decent crowd. No coat check which was sort of annoying, but not a big deal, we just threw em in one of the booths that wasn't occupied...I like the booths, they're pretty roomy and fun. Drinks...I ordered a Mojito and to my dismay they were out of mint, but the bartender said the mix was still minty, so I gave it a shot...tasted like over sweetened lemonade unfortunately so I traded it in for a different drink and the bartender gladly gave it to me so that's a plus! I was satisfied, but not overly impressed just yet, so I will definitely be going back another night to give it another whirl! I would still recommend it, it's a fun place! read more

This is a great place to go to on Saturday night when you want to avoid the "club scene". It's an older crowd but if you go with a bunch of your friends it's a great time. The music is everything from Abba to Dr. Dre. It gets PACKED on Saturday nights. I went with a party of 20 for a b-day party on 8/18/07. I called ahead to reserve some tables thinking that we would have bottle service. Well, the person that I spoke to in the Sales/Catering Dept. (a week ahead of time) said that bottle service was not required and that she would reserve some tables for us. SUPER. Some friends got there early only to find out that there were no tables reserved for us. NICE. I had even called that day to confirm. Thankfully I had friends that went early so it worked out. I think that it's ridiculous to take a reservation and not honor it.!!! Pros: At 32, I didn't feel too old to be dancing at this place. Went to this place for a bday party for a friend. It has a GREAT set-up, dance floor is sunken in. When I walked in I noticed that EVERYONE (and I do mean EVERYONE) was coming from a wedding. not necessarily the same wedding but this is obviously the hub for matrimonial after parties! The dj did an excellent job of playing a diverse mix of music that everyone could get with. It was a mostly (and I do mean MOSTLY) a "Woodlands Crowd" (if ya catch my drift) which I was perfectly okay with but would have like to see a little more diversity. The ladies weren't necessarily the hottest I've ever seen, there were a bunch of "6s" and "7s"..... I literally didn't see a bombshell all night. (Sorry to objectify women that way but u know how it is,hehe). I can say one thing about this place, they definitely do know how to have a good time there! People danced the night away and everyone was completely drenched with sweat by night's end! It was refreshing cuz I've grown so weary of the stuck up Washington/Midtown crowd. I wound up here late on a Saturday night after going to a wedding. Everyone else in the bar appeared to be in the same boat. This is a glorified hotel bar trying to be a club. That being said, I still had a good time with my group and it was easy to get a drink. Drinks were cheaper than a lot of hotel bars. We valeted our car, and took a cab home. It was very convenient. I would never say to friends, "lets go to the Black Swan!" But if I was staying in the hotel, and felt like having some late night cocktails I would not hesitate to head there. I know this review is somewhat scatter brained, but I am having a hard time articulating how I felt about this place. The "Black Swan" is absolutely the best place in the Galleria area for Top Notch police security, classy atmosphere and mostly dancing. Great DJ's like Chip make every Saturday night on the dance floor fun and energetic. If your ghetto please stays away, this is a high class place. No hard feelings. read more

um...yeah...this place is cheesy. The music isn't that great. The drinks are below par. The people are usually drunk and rolling in after a wedding party held at the hotel, but saying all that the place is OK. I wouldn't discard it as being intolerable, but I will say it's a strain the longer you are there. The PROS for this place is that you will see a good group of people there that are usually having a great time and not worrying about being "seen" like so many clubs around the city (if you have an ID you will be let in). The CONS is that the people that do go here are usually annoyingly drunk out there mind so be prepared to deal with drunk happy people. I guess if you are drunk with them, it's all good, but without liquid nutrients in your system this place will get old quick. Verdict? I would go here again...but I would do it with regret that I couldn't find a better place. read more

Went here on a Friday night. It is below the lobby of the Omni. There's no cell phone reception because you're underground, so if you come here, make sure you and your friends are clear on the plan and time. The dance floor got many rave reviews on here, but it seemed like any other dance floor. Along with the dance floor, the dj was nothing special. He did have a decent selection of new and old songs, but he did not mix in and out of songs or even attempt to transition through them. Rather, there would just be an pause of a couple seconds between a song stopping and the abrupt start of another song. The drinks were a little pricy as well, but not out of line with drinks at most hotels. All things considered, I probably would not go out of way to go here. read more
