This was the company that I rented from for my wedding. I heard about the company from some friends and knew that they had sites located in Nordstroms. A couple of my groomsmen and I went to get fitted and the process was smooth. They had all the options there to try on and the associate was very helpful in the fits and trends. Once the measurements were taken there was an account created which listed the people in my party that rented. It is a great system since you can keep track of the order with each person for your event. Delivery was fast and there were no issues with the fit of the tux. As a groomsman it's probably cheaper to buy a tux at LA fashion district and hoping the bride doesn't notice than go through this process. Having to go back and forth over alterations by mail is way too stressful and getting charged to make changes isn't a fun experience. They don't have many physical locations so I drove an hr to be told there's nothing that can be done in the store. Good luck getting an appointment. The soonest available appointment was in August. A few days prior to the appointment, The Black Tux called and told me it was cancelled. It did not give me the option to reschedule over the phone or to receive some type of priority appointment to compensate for the fact that IT cancelled on US. It also did NOT offer me a discount, which I see it did for other reviewers. So I went online. I scheduled another appointment. The next available one was not until October. The week prior THAT appointment, The Black Tux called to say it was cancelling my appointment AGAIN. The next available appointment was not until January 7, 2023. I booked it anyway, just in case, but immediately began looking for other options because I did not trust that The Black Tux wouldn't simply cancel on us again. My fiancé has been trying to get an appointment here and two times now they've cancelled his appointment due to "unforeseen circumstances." One time, fine. Two times absolutely not. We don't live nearby and the first time he had already driven about an hour out and was twenty minutes away when they told him it was cancelled. Such a waste of gas and inconsideration of time. Do they not want business? At this point we're looking into other options because these people are a waste of time and do not value yours. Pros: Overall experience with the fitting of the suit was nice an convient with fast delivery. Service was nice and quick suite also came in the mail within 3 days. Cons: Black Patten Leather shoes were the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever experienced. The shoes were tight and had no cushion. I received my suit and shoes from a Los Angeles Location but the other groomsmen ordered their suits in Atlanta and they had the same issue with their shoes . I made my first appointment 3 weeks ago. A few days before the appointment, I got an email notification that my appointment was cancelled. Okay. No biggie, I understand mishaps happen. On August 12th, I made an appointment for another in-person fitting on August 28th. Today is August 24th. I got yet another cancellation email notification. The worst part is that the rep in the email said they attempted to give me a call today. I never got the call. Am I upset? Of course! I was really hoping for a great experience. Why even bother doing measurements if the person doing them doesn't do them correctly, even after I told them what my typical sizes are. 1st shipment was early, thankfully, because the Jacket too small, shoes too small and wrong color. Went Online to do the swap, seemed easy until there was a charge to get your items sooner, and with things not fitting, I couldn't gamble on waiting 3 more days, so opted for $20 charge to get correct shoes and jacket asap. 2nd shipment, jacket sleeves are too long. I decided to call this time and the customer service person had attitude because I requested a new jacket because I travel for work. She told me to "go to a tailor and get the sleeves hemmed and we will reimburse up to $15." I told her I cannot do that because I was in Boston at the time and if I did that, my fiancé would be shipping me a jacket for that, and would black tux reimburse me for all the shipping costs. She continue to have attitude and put me on hold. After being on hold for sometime, she finally said they have a jacket and what size length do you want. This was another fun experience... 3rd shipment: finally correct jacket and length. Just 4 days before the wedding (I am the best man). DO NOT GO HERE. Just buy a suit. DON'T RENT/PURCHASE FROM HERE! PLEASE READ I was scheduled to be in my cousin's wedding in April 2020. I placed my order on my rental for $125+ in February and everything was on track to the event. Then at the end of March 2020 (one month away from the event), the State of California declared a "Stay at Home" Order due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic forced everything to shut down, people to stay home, and my cousin to cancel his wedding. We requested refunds from The Black Tux becuase of everything being cancelled out of our control, however they DECLINED our requests becuase we didnt give them enough time. Customer service was not flexible and insisted on the policy stating that "WE NEEDED TO CANCEL PRIOR TO 45 DAYS OF THE EVENT". How were we supposed to know ahead of time that everything was going to shut down 45 days prior to the event? They said the best they could do is "store credit for future use", but during this time in need, we need our funds back to our bank account, and not sitting in store credit. Theyre super nice when placing orders, but when it's time to request a refund, they dont want to give you back the money. The company has no remorse for its customers and sticks to its original policies without considering current events. So I was very skeptical at first about The Black Tux. I kept seeing ads online about "Renting a tux online". I had so many questions and concerns. Then I found on their website this location. So I made an appointment and drove down to the store. So this location is tucked away inside of Nordstrom's. It is VERY easy to walk right past it. Since I did twice and I ended up in the Nordstrom suit area. Once I was at the correct area I sat down with a gentleman that worked there and told him my concerns about ordering a tuxedo online for my wedding. He answered all of the concerns and then he let me try on some of his suits to get my sizes and so I can feel their quality. The quality of these suits is incredible! He then walked me through their online website. I waited a few months an then I went back online and I finally ordered a tuxedo from them. They were very helpful through the whole process! I know I'll get a high quality tux and I look forward to wearing it at my wedding. Also they have a display of some of their tuxedos and suits. So you can get an idea about what they look like in person. I will update this after my wedding with my final thoughts. Right now I love the customer service and helpfulness. If I could give this company zero stars I would. 1. We had to wait 45 min after arriving at our appointment. The person who helped us wasn't knowledgeable about the products or services. We left 2 hours after our scheduled appointment without even paying for our rentals because he couldn't figure out the platform they used to process payments and orders. After multiple emails, customer support was finally able to place our order. 2. We purchased the pants because we were told at our appointment that was our only option if we wanted the inseam tailored by Black Tux . When the pants arrived, the inseam wasn't tailored and the quality of the pants was not the same quality as the floor model. We later found out that we received inaccurate information at our appointment about the tailoring of the inseam. 3. We returned the pants and cancelled the jacket rental via the site. The whole return/cancellation process is wonky. We submitted one request to cancel and one to return. We never received confirmation that either had been processed. 4. We never received the refund for the jacket we cancelled and are now waiting for more information from the customer support team, again. If they didn't cancel the jacket as requested, it is now sitting in the mailroom of our old apartment complex miles away. The time we spent going back and forth with customer support and the experience at this location has been the most frustrating issue we've encountered during our wedding planning. If your thinking of renting a tux or suite, I'd highly recommend finding a different vendor. read more

DO NOT BOOK AN APPOINTMENT AT THIS LOCATION!!!! I had a very unpleasant experience today. In September, I booked an appointment online for a showroom fitting for today at 1pm. I live in San Diego and the showroom was in Mission Viejo which is not close. Around 11, I called the main phone number to see if there was an appointment available earlier in the day and was told there wasn't. When I arrived at the Nordstrom where my appointment was for, I was told that a black tux representative has not been at the Nordstrom in months and that they have requested numerous times for the black tux to no longer take appointments at that location. I am extremely disappointed that not only was I able to make the reservation online but spoke to someone over the phone and was not told there wasn't going to be anyone at the appointment. In addition to that, I had two groomsmen from out of town to also attend the appointment so there was a total of 5 people completely inconvenienced by this situation. This is completely unprofessional and to be honest totally irresponsible of a company to not update the website. Was looking for a stress free tux rental, but am getting the opposite. See attached pic - waiting on a reply for them to send a replacement. The wedding is next week and we're still waiting on one out of six suits to arrive. Last checked, tracking said that it will take 5 days to arrive from Carson to Santa Ana (it's a 30 minute drive). At this point we're considering alternatives despite the unwanted additional stress. Suit was itchy when worn so may need to take to the dry cleaners before if we do go with them. read more

You sent me a terrible quality tux jacket that had a worn down lapel that looked awful. The sleeves were also too short and the pants were 3 inches too long. Then you sent replacements and the pants were perfect but the new jacket that was said to be a 44R because you didn't even have a 44S which I needed was really a 46Long. It was so huge and unwearable. After that I tried to call many times and emailed and never got a response. Thank you for destroying my wedding!!!! I will never recommend you all and I will post how much you all do not care about the groom or his wedding party which you also messed up 3/6 of their orders and had no "invintory". I'm talking sending pants that are 4 sizes too big and are in wearable. What is wrong with your company. It's going down in flames. No customer service. No one responds to phone calls or emails. Terrible. Just terrible. You should be ashamed of yourself. You have one job to do and you promise to make people look good and you can't fulfill that promise. Expect to be rushed into a "sizing" where they measure your shoulders and neck, throw a limo driver tuxedo on you with awful shiny shoes and say "your suit will arrive in 4 weeks, cash or card" Completely awful experience, I wanted to leave within 2 minutes of my appointment. Do yourself a favor and use another vendor. I would think a company associated with Nordstrom and their "customers first" attitude would follow suit, but apparently this isn't the case for The Black Tux. I understand the company's need to have a cancellation policy, however, in light of COVID-19 and events being canceled around the country, I'd expect better. A wedding we were planning to attend in May was canceled, and all Black Tux could do is offer us a credit since the cancellation was less than 45 days in advance. We explained that we canceled as soon as the couple told us, and the wedding was not being rescheduled and we had no use for a credit... all we got was a lame response of "you can call to see if we can extend your credit if you don't use it within a year." I hope Black Tux enjoys keeping our $185. This was the only thing we could not get refunded from all reservations we made for this wedding. Other companies get what Black Tux doesn't-- consumers have no control over COVID-19 cancellations; treat them well and they will come back, however, this is not the case for Black Tux. read more

If I could give this company/location zero stars, I would. My best man and I went in to have our measurements confirmed, the appointment seemed like it went well, until we actually received our items 15 days before the wedding. None of my items fit - suit jacket was way too long, pants were not even close to my size, they forgot to ship my tie, and the shirt sleeves were too long. I called for replacement items, but they didn't have my pant or shirt size in stock. They sent a replacement jacket, but the sleeves were still too long and the jacket itself was too tight. The tie they sent, that was missed originally, had stains all over it. I ended up having to return everything and buy my own suit/tailor it a week prior to my wedding. As for my best man, same experience, even with the replacement items. He will have to get the jacket tailored and wear shoes that are too small just so that he can match the other groomsmen. Hopefully, I will actually receive a refund. They said they were making a special exception in my case. What a nightmare. Terrible experience. Run to another rental company. read more

I have used The Black Tux on two separate occasions, the most recent being for my wedding. The Black Tux provides an amazing product with top notch customer service to back it up. The associates at this Nordstrom location were extremely helpful and professional. My entire wedding party and I were assisted in finding and deciding on perfect individual fits for our suits. The associates really know their product and know how a modern suit should fit. The Black Tux has made the entire rental process simple and efficient, from suit selection and fitting to returning in the provided prepaid packaging. A disaster! Do NOT deal with Black Tux! I paid and ordered on line three months prior. The fitting measurements had to be confirmed at David's Bridal at South Coast Plaza, so I drove the 22 miles each way. The order was modified to eliminate the shoes, handkerchief. The package (tux, including shoes, handkerchief, bow tie, shirt) arrived and didn't fit, so I instantly notified Black Tux. A helpful lady said they would ship out a jacket the next size up, but it arrived just five days prior to the event, and the sleeves were ridiculously long. I managed to get the sleeves pinned up, jacket pressed for a mere $30, but the shirt sleeves were too short. The whole thing was just ridiculous. I've returned the whole package to Black Tux and now am having a hassle over credit. I cannot recommend any aspect of this business to anyone. Stay away! There are other rental places who do a better job. read more

had a wedding and bridezilla set everything up with the black tux. we went online put in all of our sizes and it was something like $140 shipped to us. there were 6 of us and 3 of us had fitment issues. they were really helpful and sent out replacements the next day. upon returning we lagged on returning them because we had a several day party afterwards. we were charged late fees. we called in and explained that the party continued and they made it easy and canceled the late charge. they could use some sharpening on the sizes because 2 of them were wayyy off in size but their customer service was 5 out of 5 read more

PSA: If you have a big event coming up, do not use their service. A little backstory- the fiance and I are getting married in under two weeks. We were excited to try a convenient, modern tuxedo renting store (a mistake on our part) and ordered 7 tuxes for the wedding party with them a few months ago. A few weeks ago, some of the groomsmen were having difficulty getting their order to show up, as the site was terribly buggy with hard to navigate UI. We're talking about putting orders in carts, only for certain pieces to vanish, people were unable to be added into the wedding party group, etc. Two of the groomsmen were on the phone with customer service for two hours, and one described the experience as "I could tell they were screwing it up as they were talking to me." Cut to last week- most orders are shipped, with the exception of one groomsmen, who suspiciously doesn't have a tracking number. My fiance's jacket has laughably short sleeves that need to be tailored, even though he was measured in-person at a Black Tux location. One groomsman's outfit shipped without a shirt. Again, we are 14 days out from the wedding. We figure the best way to sort this out would be in-person, so the two of us head over the the Black Tux in Mission Viejo. It turns out- Black Tux only reimburses $15 in alterations *even if they screwed up.* The alterations were $27 and will be done on the 19th, which is 10 days from when we dropped it off. And the best part: they lost the address of one of the groomsmen and NEVER BOTHERED TO ASK. It never shipped. If we hadn't taken the time to visit an in-person location, that suit might have just sit in a facility somewhere, fully paid for, on our wedding day. This has added so much extra stress and frustration that absolutely no one should deal with. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

The suit material and convenience of not having to go in is only so nice.....My $200 rental (lol) was shipped to me 12/23/19 for a wedding on 1/11/20. Given the holiday season you would think maybe you'd get another week or so to try on to make sure it fits if it needs alterations. Of course my pants were too long and arm sleeves too long. Tried going into the store during the holiday madness but wasn't promised my items to be back in time....? So i was stuck with pants 3 inches too long and my hands missing inside my arm sleeve of the jacket. On top of that, i only had 2 or 3 days to get it returned before avoiding a $60 late charge. Sheesh... Do yourself a favor and go to MAX in the Mission Viejo mall. Got to PURCHASE my wedding suit; custom tailored jacket, tapered pants, dress shirt, vest, tie and belt for less than $200. 45 day minimum for full refund is unreasonable in light of COVID19. Funny how on their website they "advise participants to complete checkout for their orders 30 days prior to the wedding date", and yet they need 45 days to "allocate" a suit - how convenient. A wedding I was scheduled to attend in May got cancelled. I cancelled my order more than a month in advance. I received a standard automated corporate jargon email about policies regarding cancellation...blah blah blah...no personal touch. I contacted them requesting a full refund despite their 45 day policy and received no response. Contrary to their gently-worded automatically generated email, it's evident that there is no actual empathy for those whose money they are now holding as credit that will likely never be redeemed. They act like they're doing you a favor by giving you a credit (which expires in 12 months). "We've got your back" they claim on their website - what a joke! I was hoping to use The Black Tux for my wedding in November. Both appointments I have made have been canceled by the Black Tux due to employee illness. This isn't outlandish if it isn't the only reason being given for these reschedules. Today was the 2nd of these cancellations, telling me that I couldn't be seen until October. Is there a reason why my appointments cannot be seen within a month of the original date? Customer service seemed like I was really inconveniencing them when I was asking if this would leave enough time to make sure the fix would be correct and received wedding tux. Horrible Experience with this shop - I made an appointment 3 weeks in advance to get my measurements done and place my order for a tuxedo rental. Time kept ticking closer to the event I needed it for, but figured I would be ok since I am going in person and they will take care of everything. The closest location to me is the Mission Viejo location which is a ~1.5-2 hr drive from my home depending on traffic. I wanted to ensure I got the proper measurements and fitting to not risk any issues prior to the wedding so I made the appointment and decided to make the drive just for this. I received this reminder email Thursday for my Saturday appointment, and was all set... I got there 20 min early and told the Nordstrom employees I was there for my appointment. About 10 min later the Nordstrom employee let me know they did not expect anyone working at the Black Tux that day. I stayed and sat at the Black Tux desk around an hour waiting far beyond my appointment just in case, hoping somebody would show up. At that point, I called the customer service, waited on hold for 25 min while continuing to sit in Nordstrom near the Black Tux desk, until finally getting a customer service representative who just tried to reschedule my appointment and said she could not get ahold of anyone who can help with why nobody was there or help find someone to assess and fix this situation. I asked for a manager to discuss this with and she said the Manager was on the other line, but took my number and said they would call back shortly. I then had to get back in my car and sat in traffic for 2 hours to drive back home. I had a horrible experience due to the poor, or lack-of, customer service by the Black Tux. I now need to just submit my measurements online to get this done in time for the wedding. I figured for the insanely high cost of their tuxedo rentals, I better do it onsite and ensure they are accurate so I don't have to worry the week before the wedding. 3 days later, I finally got a call from a "customer service associate" to discuss this, who offered a minimal discount. I did not find this at all equivalent to the issues I had due to the efforts and distance I went to drive to a location that was not local to me and the zero communication from the Black Tux regarding not having any staff on site for my appointment that had been scheduled 3 weeks out. The customer service associate agreed and wished she could do more, but said she tried to request this from her manager and was denied. Surprised they would not have an actual manager reach out in a situation like this. I have been in many wedding parties and done many suit and tuxedo rentals with other companies and have never had an experience like this. I would not recommend using the black tux. read more

Made three appointments for groomsman side worked with Christian initially so kind very efficient and knowledgeable provided stellar recommendations on style fit and flare we made final decisions with his help. There were a few technical company computer glitches when we booked for the entire group but they were so on top of it to alert us in advance and adjust the incorrect orders that went out. We had friends from school that worked with this company on many black tie events and weddings and we are so thrilled by this local company's offerings they are in nearly a handful of Nordstrom's nationally so for our wide group of friends and family flying in from all over the us so great to have the online and in store options to book.
