I have had many suits altered and have definitely been ripped off a bunch. I came in to have my suit pants altered before my wedding. Raj asked me to put it on and then told me the pants fit perfect. I thought I needed the pants area slimmed out, along with the waist. He told me that it would not be needed because the material isn't stretchy and that it would get caught while wearing it. I came to Raj for a custom suit for my wedding and it came out PERFECT. The entire process was very easy and smooth. Raj has a really good sense of how to get you your best fit, for whatever situation you may need. He is very knowledgeable and was providing great information about how my suit will work in a practical situation. For example, making sure my pants weren't too tight, so I can dance/bend. Comically, I tried to ask for skinnier pants, and he listened! He told me it could be risky, but I listened to my heart. WRONG It was my own fault, but I did end up ripping my backside of my pants. (Yes my butt) Luckily, the way Raj does the pants/flaps. It went unnoticeable all night! Also, The color of the suit came out phenomenal. There entire night I was bombarded with, "OMG that suit color!" from family/vendors. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my decision. And very thankful to have met this man! He really made the process quick and easy, while also giving assurance that I am going to look and feel my best. Lastly, I really just like how open he was in terms of information and more so that he was not trying to up sale me on anything. Raj is a 1 of a kind tailor, and an even greater human being. I've had all of my tailoring done with Raj, and I will keep returning solely due to his great service and genuine care for what he does. Just 1 example that shows you the kind of person Raj is: after bringing a new Slim fit suit to Raj to tailor, I was sharing my excitement with the slim fit style and Raj points out the "Modern" fit on the tag of the suit. This was at 7pm at his closing time. I was so disappointed to see when I purchased a slim fit from another store, they gave me a Modern fit. Especially as I was flying out of town for the next week and hoped to drop off the suit. Raj told me to head back to the store to verify the trim, and stayed at the store until I returned. This place is amazing. My husband has been going here for 10+ years whenever he needs to refresh his wardrobe. The fit of a custom suit or shirt is hard to describe if you've never had one. You are a different person when you're wearing one. If you go custom, the selection of colors, fabrics, patterns, features on the suit (pockets, collars, cuffs, etc.) is incredible, allowing you to fully tailor it to your look. Raj knows his stuff and will guide you, as well. I highly recommend By Design. I've experienced excellent customer service with the help of Rajan. I brought in a pants to get it altered so that it would fit me better. Surprisingly they were able to get the job done in 48 hours! I've been going to Raj at By Design for about a year now. I started out with some simple alterations and from the get-go I could tell that I would be a long-term customer. The shop is nice and clean, well stocked with nice clothing at a reasonable price. Raj is incredibly knowledgeable, has been in the industry for a very long time and has great taste. Aside from all that, what I appreciate most about Raj is that his priority is to make you look good, not make a sale. I also really appreciate his honesty, he isn't afraid to tell you when something isn't going to work but he'll also bend over backwards to get you what you want, when you need it. It was a no-brainer for me when it came time to get married that I was going to By Design for my suit. What can I say, my wedding suit came out just as I expected it would, perfect. I never write reviews, but given that my suit came out so nice I had to return the favor. I had a blue suit jacket and pants measured by Rajan. He knew the style I was looking for and never tried to 'force' an opinion onto me. He merely made suggestions and assured me it would come out the way I imagined it. He took in the sides and pinned up the sleeves as well as the pant leg. I even received a follow up call to let me know that the suit would be done shortly. That's customer service for ya! I am glad to be the first female review for Raj. I was really nervous to get my pant suit altered anywhere since most tailors specialize in men's suits. I was especially nervous to go to By Design because there are no other female reviewers, but this place is so highly recommended I decided to give it a shot. I'm really glad I went to Raj for my alterations. His prices were very reasonable and the results were perfect. He was also extremely pleasant to work with and gave me feedback on the way my suit looked. I had him hem my pants, completely take in the back and arms of the jacket, as well as shorten the sleeves. Additionally, he took in a silky blouse for me without any problems. I'm really happy with the results. He also completed my alterations early and was very reassuring about any of my concerns.
