The Blake was amazing. My wife, daughter and I stayed in the suite, which was perfect for a family - we had the privacy we wanted with the two rooms and a fold out bed. The beds were comfortable, we all slept perfectly well during our stay. It was incredibly clean and very modern. The staff was totally on top of it, very friendly and sincere. The location was perfect too. Easy walk to art museums, coffee, great food. Can't recommend enough - will definitely stay there on future trips! read more

We were so fortunate to have stayed at the Blake Hotel! The King deluxe room was luxury at its best. Fantastic location, walking distance to all downtown New Haven has to offer. Due to the weather we were more than happy to stay in and had appetizers from Hamilton Park delivered to our room. The Brussel Sprouts and Jumbo shrimp cocktail were Outstanding. Enjoyed the beautiful Fall Decor and rustic bar atmosphere of High George, the rooftop bar at The Blake. Felipe went above and beyond to help us out before our dinner reservations downstairs, and as promised, we returned later to have Alejandro being just as attentive. We enjoyed some craft beer as well as the Aperol Spritz and Maple Bourbon Old Fashion, both we highly recommend. Looking forward to our next visit to the area! read more

We were in New Haven (our first visit) to see a lymphoma specialist at Smilow, and we couldn't have asked for a more comfortable place. We loved this hotel space, so much so that we are "stealing" some of its ideas for a basement apartment at home. The room was spacious, the beds/pillows were very comfortable, the thought put into some of the amenities was so intentional. The bathroom/shower area was fabulous. Most importantly, the staff was on-point, friendly, and helpful. Walkable to many restaurants, shops, cafes, and eateries ... as well as to Smilow. Should we return to New Haven, we'll stay there again. read more

Needed a place to stay while being with my Grandmother just admitted into Yale New Haven Hospital. I was able to book a room last minute at 5:00 in the morning, with ZERO hassle of a pre recorded answering system. The gentleman with whom I spoke with was so friendly and helpful. I truly wish I could remember his name to publicly thank him again. He made my run with 24 hours of nerves and no sleep so incredibly easy. I was able to get right in, parked on site & he made sure I was aware of everything in my beautifully appointed room. The hotel itself was absolutely stunning upon entry. Literally breathtaking. My king room was filled with ornate objects, a mix of colors and textures. The room included a huge kitchenette, equipped with everything from a cork screw to an espresso machine. The bathroom was something straight out of an interior design magazine, with an exquisite walk-in floor to ceiling tile shower. The closet housed a safe for your personal items and 2 spa like robes and slippers. The bed was comfy, clean & honestly the best few hours of sleep I've had in a long time. Huge TV too, which I normally don't care about, but definitely noticed the size compared to other hotels. Even at 5am on my 24th hour, I walked in that room & said, "OMG, how am I supposed to go to sleep now" I just wanted to lounge around in the bathrobe & crack open a bottle of wine. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO EVERYONE in need of a room in New Haven. I work in the hotel & hospitality industry myself, at a 5 star bed & breakfast, and I was completely impressed. read more

The employees we worked with to book the rooms and to organize the dinner were kind, easy to work with, and flexible. The food was delicious, our speakers loved their rooms, and the prices were reasonable given all the amenities. Fantastic modern rustic hotel, perfect location and stunning decor all throughout. My room on the 5th floor was quiet, spotless, incredibly comfortable (luxury pillows & robes), with nice views and equipped with everything I needed (Nespresso!) in the fully functional kitchenette. I stayed for 10 nights in summer and it was a perfect 5-10min walk to all the Yale sights, downtown park shopping, and the much noteworthy dining experiences all on the same block. I also often dined onsite at their beautifully decorated Hamilton Park restaurant, and every single dish I tried was nothing short of outstanding. Everyone took such great care of me, a special shoutout to Adriana for the top notch service and perfect dinner recommendations of Chef's delectable culinary delights! Fri & Sat nights they open up the airy rooftop High George restaurant/bar and was a surreal ambiance, and was easily closed in when the monsoon July rains came rolling in, but could still enjoy the lightening show. Before we left we even got all our laundry done, so coming home is even great because of The Blake Hotel. THANK YOU! I'll look forward to returning one day. read more

I am saddened that I had to reduce my score for this location to a 1 star. The property is absolutely lovely, the dinner my friend and I had at the High George was delicious and the service was impeccable and the valet (parking) team was amazing, absolutely stellar...however the front desk staff was so horrific that I will never step foot anywhere on this establishment's property again. I will also be informing my friends and clients to steer clear, for as much as this hotel will charge you, you would think they could hire at least ONE team member that had a modicum of experience. This young staff was severely lacking ANY customer service skills, and I do mean ANY having worked in a customer based industry for over 17 years...my staff would be fired for this behavior. The trouble started when I called them Friday afternoon to ask how I could ensure the stay was put on my card not my friend's who was to arrive prior to me. She is disabled and didn't need to be bothered with logistics because I was treating her for the weekend. The young gentleman I spoke to was clueless about how to help me and could only say "sorry". I had to suggest a credit card authorization form, which they did (because they do events). After requesting this form, and being told it was coming straight over I had to call back THREE times to get it sent. Each time me expressing my desire to get this taken care of because 1) I needed to leave to head up to New Haven and 2) because I did not want my friend bothered when she checked in. I finally received and then turned around the form so I could head out. While driving up to New Haven I received notice from my friend that they asked her for her card. She gave them her card, even though she told them several times about the credit card authorization form which NO ONE CHECKED FOR. Because of her condition she needed to get to the room to rest and they were extremely unpolite, difficult and not solutions finding. They also, when checking her in, made an inappropriate comment about the fact that there was only one bed, a king, in the room. SO WHAT?!? What if she did happen to be my girlfriend and not just my friend? Are we that homophobic? Are we that inappropriate that we cannot keep our comments to ourselves? UNACCEPTABLE. I then called the hotel about the credit card authorization, already incensed about these series of events and they had not even looked to process it. Then I was PROMISED the card hold would be removed from her card and everything would be on mine. THEY NEVER REMOVED THE HOLD. Then today upon checkout they used their system being down as an excuse...we checked out on Sunday...we checked in on Friday. Do not promise someone something you cannot accomplish. Do not stay here...you will be severely disappointed in the front desk staff, they could fire them all, replace them with computers and the hotel would run much better because EVERYONE else does their job and well. Telling people SORRY is not customer service, train your team Blake. read more

AMAZING! Recently stayed at the Blake Hotel the weekend before Christmas, the hotel was beautifully decorated and the staff was attentive from the time we pulled into valet our car. Our room, WOW corner suite with all the amenities you can ask for our 6 year old son wanted to live there :) If you haven't check out High George the roof top bar it is a must! We had cocktails and small bites before heading out into the city. The space was magically decorated to resemble a winter wonderland. The following morning coffee and tea was delivered to our door at 7:30am as requested, great way to start the day! Cannot wait to stay over again and next time dine at Hamilton Park the menu looked fantastic. read more

We chose this hotel bc it is walking distance to the hospital and it had a kitchen. We chose well. Our two night stay became a week. The entire staff was so accommodating. From the front desk, to the valets, to room service, the restaurant and the manager. They couldnt have been nicer or more helpful. Thank you. For anyone who has a dog, make sure you read between the lines that this place charges $100 a night, and will charge you even if you didn't know before booking. I called downstairs to ask for a bag of green tea and was told they had nothing and the restaurants were closed. I also had an allergic reaction to the sheets, to which I was told there was nothing they could do and they had no other sheets. Emailed the manager and got nothing but a "sorry." I love the setting and the hotel smells great when you walk in! I have to give 3 stars because if you are coming to relax like I was - you couldn't. My room was on the 5th floor not knowing that the rooftop bar is on 6. Bar closes at 11 - need I say more. Not a very relaxing night sleep. I AM REALLY GIVING NO STARS BECAUSE The hotel charged my credit card over $7,000 for a $,2000.00 stay. I had an extended stay of 10 days for a workshop at Yale. At check in my credit card was charged and then they charged my card again every 3 days during my stay. Besides being incorrectly grossly overcharged, this caused my card to be overlimit and unable to use during my stay. I left one day early and was given a hotel receipt for a one day credit and 20% off the whole stay to make up for the major inconvenience. Well, they never processed the credits and I have still been overcharged $1900.00 for my stay. The hotel has left me to have to take the time to deal with this issue with the credit card company. They offered a 20% discount on my next stay. After this stressful experience I will never stay there. CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD FOR DOUBLE AND TRIPLE CHARGES IF YOU STAY AT THIS HOTEL. read more

This hotel and restaurant (which goes under another name, Hamilton) is absolutely fantastic: beautiful, comfortable, well-located and with the best service I have experienced in a long time. I had an early train to catch and, thanks to my server at dinner the evening before, the hotel brought my breakfast up in a paper to go bag first thing in the morning. I am only giving it a 1 star because of the ambience . The rooftop bar has excellent views . The service at the hotel is horrible . We went for dinner and cocktails . We waited 1 hour for a three drinks and only got two after 30 min. When o went to cancel the order because the server never came back , the hostess had an attitude of inconvenience . In my opinion, I don't care what industry you are in , the team should be apologetic and gracious and at the very least comp a drink . She acted like it was our fault they were understaffed and inexperienced . They have been open since June , should have gotten their act together by now . read more

Just visited the roof top bar the service is very professional and polite The cocktails were very good and the presentation the the drinks were delightful conversely I will most likely not go back due to the management policy. The hotel was clean, decor was trendy and classic for a boutique hotel, and room was large in size with a kitchenette but for us it fell short of the typical upscale boutique hotel experience we have come to expect. Having stayed on a Saturday and Sunday, we found it obnoxious that both restaurants were closed on Sunday and therefore in the late afternoon and evening there are no options for food or drink in the hotel including coffee. Similarly there was no mini bar or wine sold in the lobby if you were having a relaxing night in your room and wanted a glass of wine. The service throughout the hotel was fine, but not overly accommodating or hospitable. The construction outside the hotel is incredible loud on weekday mornings, similarly it was quite easy to hear other guests throughout the night. Room service did not replace shampoos etc. and this needed to be asked for. The coffee service was a nice touch, but the coffee was cold the second day and the website advertises that pastries are available and we could not find those. Also, they come back promptly an hour later to retrieve your coffee cups even if the do not disturb sign is up and when I said I was not done yet at 10:00 the wait staff said what time would you like me to come back for it. I said I check out at 11:30 does that work and she said "oh man I leave now" I said "okay would you like my tea cup now then" she said "I guess not". Odd. Given there are other boutique hotels in city, I would try another before coming back to the Blake. read more

Stayed at the Blake this weekend for a girls trip and had an amazing time! The rooms were so nice and spacious with comfy and cozy beds. Each room came with a beautiful mini kitchenette. Besides the rooms being so luxurious, the staff were so accommodating and friendly and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. A side note, the Blake has the best smelling lobby of any hotel I have ever been too, including elevators which is a big plus for me. They must have diffusers in the lobby as well as the elevators, which was a subtle but great touch! read more

STAY AT THE STUDY! Trendy furniture does not make a hotel nice. This place has potential but was clearly built and is managed by a bunch of investors who don't actually think about anything. The restaurant is only open during breakfast (7-10) lunch (11:30-2) and dinner (5-9) hours. You're out of luck if your train arrives late or your event runs long. Or if you want to grab a drink and bite with colleagues after the events end. Corporate groups who recruit at Yale should absolutely not use this hotel. Also, while hardwood floors look nice, it means you can hear everything that the person above you does, including walking, opening and closing their closet, and slamming their door. And maybe the hotel could hang some towel racks in the bathroom instead of just laying full sized bath towels on the counter space. Lastly, you can't hang a woman's knee-length dress in the closet without the bottom of it folding over onto a shelf. Seems like a man designed the closets for shirts only. Like I said, corporate groups recruiting at Yale should stay at The Study, you'll be happy you did. The lobby here is neither cozy or bustling.
