Channing is a dog owners dream!!!! My shih tzu, Miley, ADORES him and I know this because as soon as she sees him, she gets overly excited to see him again :) Channing has been grooming Miley for roughly a year now and he is an amazing groomer. He is very detailed oriented, thorough and truly cares. He always checks with me before and after for my thoughts, although I never have anything to say except "do what you did last time" and "she looks great". Miley cannot be kenneled, so they work with me to have her hang in day care when she is not physically being groomed. Not to mention, he is also extremely reasonably priced! Sadly, my previous dog walker/ sitter moved out of town and I was left extremely worried with what to do with Miley when I travel (especially since she cannot be in a kennel). Channing let me know that he does dog sitting too. Since Miley is pretty low maintenance and gets along so well with his dog, Margot, he has now watched Miley in his home while I am on vacation (twice). Any dog lover knows, that leaving town can be extremely stressful because you worry about your baby. When Miley is with Channing, I do not worry one bit!!! Channing constantly checks in with me sending me pictures and updates. Again, for Miley to get to hang in a comfortable home with people and another dog, his sitting services are extremely reasonably priced as well! He is amazing. I could go on and on about all the little personal touches he has done, such as reminding me about her yearly shots being due to helping drop her off at my house, but this review would be WAY too long if I listed them all. Let me start off by saying that I have a staunch anti-Yelp policy (being service industry and all), but I am breaking that rule because I feel absolutely compelled to shout out Blakemoore for the amazing blessing they have been on my life. My boyfriend travels about half the time for work, so I first looked into Blakemoore when I realized that my work schedule wasn't cutting it in order for my super high energy puppy to get the exercise he needs. Reading the glowing reviews I figured I should give them a shot, and over the past year they have saved my life! My boyfriend's work schedule can be unpredictable, and they have always accommodated last-minute daycare sessions. They always greet Gruner by name and he is SO EXCITED to go - he basically yanks my arm out pulling for the last block no matter how much leash training we work on!! In fact, if I'm walking him around the neighborhood I take care not to pass Blakemoore because he will lay down and refuse to move even though he's not booked that day - sometimes I think he likes them better than me! Gruner has friends here and I always get an update on who he gets to play with, plus glorious action shots of him running around with the other pups. It's very hard to tucker out this pup, but I know Blakemoore is doing him right because he's always a sleepy and snuggly boy when he gets home. They have been so patient with my overactive pup and clearly know what they're doing with a passion and love for every little monster that comes through their door. We were in New Orleans over Labor Day weekend for a very spur of the moment trip. We booked a hotel on Bourbon, and headed to NO with our two small dogs in tow. We arrived late and trying to find any green space for a potty break in the Quarter was a challenge.. even more of a challenge was how loud the hotel hallways get at a certain time of night. Our neighbors were young kids who were very loud and our dogs barked a bit.. then the beating on the walls and kicking at our door began. Not joking, we travel all over with them, all types of hotels, they are not chronic barkers when left alone. I found one of them under the nightstand. Anyway, we decided to try and find them last minute accommodations over a holiday weekend so they wouldn't be in a bad situation with us at the hotel. Luckily the wonderful crew at The Blakemoore were able to help us out. They took them in early that morning, let us visit and gave us an update when we picked them up. My wife runs a dog boarding facility in Austin and it was particularly hard for her to leave them at a place she didn't investigate prior. First off, I didn't have my pet stay at Blakemoore Bark. This review merely covers the fact that Channing returned my call within minutes and offered a very reasonable overnight rate. That's extremely impressive for a downtown pet care business and probably the best in downtown New Orleans. If you're using Blakemoore Bark, remember the shot records or at least be able to provide a vet who can forward the records. I was in New Orleans on a convention and was traveling on to another venue so I brought my service dog with. It was pretty close to the Hyatt and they were very accommodating. They were strict about shots and so had to go to a vet and get a bordatella shot, so I was comforted that my dog wouldn't be around diseased animals. They said my dog was special and wanted to be held by all of the staff. They said he knew how to make friends easy with the dogs and staff and likes to be in the spotlight. How true, but he does know how to gain the attention of those around him. They were very accommodating for a visitor and not a regular. I will take my dog there on my next visit to New Orleans. read more

He genuinely cares about the quality of his work and the comfort of the dogs. I tried to like this place and just couldn't. It's small, they don't have any grass or yard, and minimal space indoors. The Blakemoore Bark is amazing! I was visiting New Orleans with my pup and long story short, the stay extended and then extended again. We needed a lot of help, often last minute, and Channing, the owner of Blakemoore Bark, was and is always there for us. This is not your everyday doggie daycare company. They cater to your needs and customize the daycare experience of your pet. They shuttled our dog to and from a great daycare they recommended for us, the Pet Care Center on Diamond Street. The great part about this daycare center is that Channing is there for most of the day and does a lot of his grooming appointments at that location. He always had an eye on our boy. It felt like the entire staff was taking care of one of their own. I got picture updates all day long and peace of mind in general that he was having such a great time. I can't recommend The Blakemoore Bark enough. read more

I'm very happy with my experience and Coco's stay here. My dog is very difficult and has behavior issues. She got scared and snapped at the steward and I was completely MORTIFIED (still am). However, he was so patient and accommodating -- he should be up for sainthood. The staff is so caring and is truly passionate about dogs. You can tell they love what they do. I wanted this to be my go-to place for Gambit considering the good reviews and convenience to my downtown office. But, unfortunately poor communication from the staff leads to this review. I dropped Gambit off Friday morning and realized I forgot his food. I asked the front desk person if they had food that I could purchase, if not, I would go back home and drop off his food later. The person at the desk offered to go buy some food so I wouldn't have to go back home. He advised that he would charge me for the food and I could bring it home. I agreed. AT NO TIME WAS I ADVISED THERE WOULD BE A $30 SURCHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE. On Sunday when I picked Gambit up, I was shocked by the additional charge, and when I explained that I was not told about the charge, the response I received was "yes ma'am." I paid, because I do not like to argue when the subject matter is just not worth it. I speak with reviews and dollars (by being a regular and good customer or not - depending on my review). I am a professional and take communication very seriously when it comes to business and this is something Blakemore needs to refine. Two stars for taking care of Gambit during a busy weekend for me. read more

I've used the Blakemore twice now for boarding my Siberian Husky and he loves it. They were very accommodating to my last minute bookings and even offer pickup and drop-off for dogs. The rates were more affordable than many of the other facilities I looked into and they made me feel very comfortable with leaving my dog for the weekend. The location is very clean and has plenty of space for the dogs to run around and play together. Not only did they take amazing care of my Bowie, but they even sent me some pictures of him having fun on his walks, which provided great peace of mind while I was out of town. I've also used this site for his grooming and they were a huge help, especially with my oversized dog who sheds too much. I give them 5/5 stars and will definitely be using them again in the future. read more

We had a great experience at The Blakemoore Bark today. In town for just one day, the staff at the BB made our enrollment and drop off process seamless and speedy. The facilities were super clean, and the staff went ABOVE and beyond with kindness. We felt completely comfortable leaving our fur baby in their care for the day.
