I'm embarrassed it's taken me so long to write this! I have been a friend of Blakemoore Bark for over a year now, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. My dog, Juno, was a COVID puppy and was not socialized the first few years of her life. When we moved to New Orleans and I started working again, I knew I would need to find a daycare for her that understood that she needed time to learn. And WOW -- they honestly changed her life! Juno has grown up so much in Blakemoore Bark's care. She is happier, better behaved, and way more adjusted to society now. She's an angel on walks, when she was once a terror. She's polite and friendly to strangers. She's less anxious. I am in awe sometimes of how mature she's gotten. She's only 5! lol The staff at Blakemoore Bark is the nicest group of people I think I've ever met. They are SO SWEET! Every time I drop Juno off or pick her up, they're always kind, friendly, and polite. There isn't a single bad apple in the bunch. It's very clear to me that they all love my dog and take great care of her; when I drop her off in the mornings she'll actually paw at the door when she sees one of her human friends coming. It's very cute, all tail wags. Juno loves being there and it shows. It makes me feel very safe leaving her in their care. I cannot express what a comfort that is to me, and how much I appreciate it. After reading such good reviews and talking to the friendly staff on the phone we had decided to leave our dog here a couple of days (for daycare) during our visit to NOLA. But once we got there, it was a different story. Channin (the owner) is super friendly, funny and silly... he might like dogs but I feel he's too self involved to really take good care of his guests (which are supposed to be the dogs). While speaking to him on the front desk he constantly yelled "be quiet" to the dogs that were barking behind the gate. Any person with basic canine knowledge would know that dogs will only bark more if you yell at them! By his side there was this other guy thinking it was funny just to spray water at the dogs for them to be quiet. He kept spraying, looked at me and then back at them making shooting noises like a little kid with a water toy gun. He kept doing it even after I told him I didn't mind the barking at all. That alone made me sad feel sad for the poor puppies that were being soaked! After touring the place, even my husband suggested we should look for other options. The place is dark and not that clean (considering there are dogs all day). Besides the location and the very likeable personality of the owner, I don't see why people would choose this place. read more

My lab-coonhound mix, Gibson, stayed at Blackmore Bark for eight days last September as I flew to California for my girlfriend's birthday. The team there was terrific, playing with my boy every day and taking lots of pictures. He seemed to enjoy himself and the pictures alleviated a lot of my own separation anxiety, which was extreme by day eight, this being the first time, ever, I'd been away. Perhaps the best recommendation is that I'm packing him up for another stay at Blackmoore Bark over the Christmas holiday. I'm still not wild about the time apart (seven days this time), but I'm very confident he'll be happy and well cared for. The staff seems to actually care. For example, most of them seem to know Gibson's name and he never minds being dropped off there. Leaving your pet behind is always a bit traumatic, but in today's airline climate, it's nearly impossible to transport a pen on a commercial airline flight (with the possible exception of an Emotional Support Duck) so we're stuck with finding a facility we can trust to leave them with. I have been staying in New Orleans for two months while rehearsing and performing a play at a theatre company. The Blakemoore Bark Is right around the corner from my apartment so it was quite convenient. To be honest, after my experiences there, even If my apartment was farther away, I would continue to use them. They treated my dog, Bellatrix as if she was their own. They were so excited to see her when she arrived, and gave her so much love. When I would walk Bellatrix to The Blakemoore Bark, she would start dragging me down the street, pulling me TOWARDS The Blakemoore Bark, and then would wait at the door, tail wagging for them to come and let her in. THAT Is a sign that she loves It there. That Is all I needed to ensure that they take care and love on their dogs. They have some amazing services such as pick up and drop off in case I was working late, overnight boarding, day care for Bellatrix to play with other dogs, and grooming. Their prices are VERY good. I can't say enough great things about The Blakemoore staff and the owner, Channing. Hands down the best customer service and care. I use the fetch service as well as the daycare service. Channing the owner is always at my house like clock work to pick my dog up. If I forget to book a daycare service they text me to check in to see if I need them to pickup my dog. The care that The Blakemoore staff gives my dog radiates when he comes home. My dog is always exhausted from his day of fun with all the other pups. I take so much comfort in knowing my baby is well taken care of throughout the day. They also will send pictures and upload them on your account to see how your pup is doing. The Blakemoore also offers so many wonderful and convenient services. They also have a great website you can book your services on or look at price quotes and photos. I highly recommend The Blakemoore for all your boarding, walking, daycare and grooming needs. They really are the best!! read more

Where do I start... The Blakemoore Bark is a fantastic place for a dog to spend time enjoying their Spa Days, playmates, or the simple love from their stewards. This is not a regular dog hotel, this is where dogs can come to become better and well behaved companions, guided by Channing and his team of well trained stewards. The facility is equipped with multiple rooms for small and large dogs, a grooming station, boarding room, courtyard, and a green area off of Tchoupitoulas Street. Each dog will have three long walks, fed regularly, loved and treated like family, and this was the striking difference that makes them unique from other dog caring facilities. If you take your pooch there, the staff here is friendly, amazing and loving to anyone who walks in the door. I have never met such a quant and well organized team in my experience working with dog hotels. The rates are competitive but you get a bang for your buck, and you won't regret taking them here. read more

We take our dog to Blakemoore Bark at least once a week for daycare, and we've boarded her there as well. Boarding is especially good because dogs get to interact at daycare unlike your usual kennels. We are glad that there's a set schedule for dog activities (group play, nap time, 1:1 attention with the staff.). Some places aren't fond of letting us see how our dog is getting along with all the other dogs, and i'm glad the Blakemoore doesn't rely solely on webcam to replace that assurance or leave it on our shoulders. Staff know and treat each dog like they're part of their family. They even work on behavioral issues if requested. Unlike a number of dog daycares, the facility smells clean. Our dog is eager to get inside to play with the staff and her doggie friends, and she's always well rested when we go to get her. We will continue to use the Bark. It's much better than all the others we've tried. read more

I LOVE Blakemoore so much I just downloaded the yelp app to do this haha. Over a year ago my dog got attacked by a dog aggressive dog that ran out of its owner's apartment. My Indy is the happiest dog in the world so I was heartbroken when he could hardly stand up to get water. I used to work for a daycare that was huge, so much so even my happy dog could get stressed. At Blakemoore he was able to get special attention! They took care of him while he healed so I could go to work/school without stressing about it! Fast forward to now and they are still a blessing! My foster dog was tearing up my apartment so I took her and my Indy to them. I'm so glad they could help socialize her in smaller groups! I am back on Yelp for the first time in five years just to leave this review: My dog LOVES The Blakemoore Bark--like, cries in the car in excitement as we turn on the block, dashes out of the car, and runs right to the door. Usually, she tolerates daycare, but here? She loves it. It's a second home to her. I literally stayed in my mediocre apartment for an extra year just because I didn't want to leave this daycare. (And now that I live on the other side of the city, I miss TBB every single day.) I left my two pups, one 11 y/o and one 10 mth old, for 5 days. I was very nervous because they had never been kenneled before. My older dog, Shadow, has some medical issues, so I was concerned about him getting his meds and resting. All I can say is that I was overwhelmed with relief when I picked them up. Shadow was lively and rested, and Jack was - well, I do call him Jack the Maniac. He was beside himself to see his mommy and daddy. I was sent pics of them and was able to call and check on them. An overall wonderful experience for me and I'm sure my babies. The staff was so helpful, friendly and genuinely interested in making this a great experience. This is the first time I boarded my 10-yr old mini Aussie, so I was very nervous about it. But our NOLA hotel did not allow dogs. Their friendly and professional phone manner helped put me at ease. The place isn't much to look at, but the kind and caring attitude of the owner and staff make The Blakemoore Bark a super place to board . I visited my pup every couple of days and she didn't seem stressed at all. In fact, she was happy to go back with her new friends after our walks. At home, she is with people most of the day and all night. So, I was pleasantly surprised that she seemed to enjoy her week here. I bought the doggy play time along with the boarding. We use the home sitting service and the sitter is always at our house on time (or even earlier) and often stays for longer than we even pay for! Love this lagniappe! It's really so comforting to have Blakemoore for our babies. Our doggies are always very happy when we return home. The house is spotless (and our dogs are quite messy...) and we can enjoy our time away without worry. The sitters are quite knowledgeable about dog behavior and are set up with veterinarians and animal hospitals should the need arise. That is so comforting. This place is the BEST! Wish we could give them 10 stars! Our Border Collie puppy was struggling in another day care facility due to the large number of dogs per play group. He started Blakemoore and WOW what a difference. They offer small play groups that allowed Wyatt to relax and enjoy himself. He has such a great time when he is there. As soon as we pull up he is leaping out of the truck ready to play. Staff is AMAZING! We could not be happier with our choice! Everyone there is so gracious and helpful. We have taken our dog to daycare at Blakemore Bark for about a year. She loves it and cannot wait to get inside when we drop her off. Our dog is definitely a handful, and the whole team here has been caring and patient with all her quirks and challenges. This is a smaller facility than some of the others, so they definitely get to know each of the dog personalities and what's normal for them. We also use the boarding/overnight service when we leave town, and it's great that the dogs can still go to daycare with their regular friends while we are away. The Blakemoore Bark has one of the most caring teams for what they do. They take the time to get to know each individual dogs name and personality. Other places see dogs as just another number but here, if you point to a dog the employee can tell you everything about him/her. Definitely leave your furry friend with this place because they know what they're doing and make clients feel comfortable with frequent updates of your pup, whether they are in boarding or just daycare. I have been sending my dog Gunnar to The Blakemoore Bark since the spring time. He goes almost everyday for doggie daycare. Channing and his staff are the best!!!! Gunnar gets excited as soon as we turn on the street, he knows exactly where he's going. One of the best things about Blakemoore is that they pay attention to all of the dogs, if Gunnar seems off or is not feeling well, they pick up on it immediately. We were on an extended trip and were in an area where we knew no one. This company was recommended to us and were soooo pleased with the company and with Channing who actually walked our dog on three separate days. He was so easy to work with and was wonderful to our dog, a very spoiled cocker spaniel. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who wants their pet well taken care of in a friendly, professional way. We were visiting New Orleans for one night, and The Blakemore Bark is conveniently located just a few blocks from the French Quarter. This is a cute and quant little boarding facility. The moment we walked in, we new our two dogs were in good hands. I found the staff extremely caring and compassionate for what they do. I also found comfort knowing there is someone that stays overnight for extra security and safety reasons. I highly recommend them to anyone visiting the area! read more
