Alright. I will start off with saying I am not an easy guy to please. I am kind of nit picky when it comes to food. Surprising considering I spend half my free time eating freeze dried meals. I also used to be a chef (a LONNNG time ago). That being said we decided to grace everyone in The Block with our "Fresh out-the field" straight back from elk hunting aromas and get some food that was actually edible. I had the Alpine Melt (Fontina, prosciutto, sautéed spinach and mushrooms). Sweet Mary mother of God was it good. It was also not "have been eating stuff that is considered a war crime on your stomach type food, so this just SEEMS better" good, it would have been good if I had just got done eating a normal meal. The home made chips are awesome as well. They also had a decent selection of NA beers for weirdo teetotlers like myself. Because as much as I abstained from alcohol, I also abstain from drinking stuff that tastes like rotten piss covered potato chips which is what NA beers used to taste like (thank God for the craft NA beer craze now). So, for the folks at The Block, kudos, and you should just find a place on the menu for that thing. read more

We got into Great Falls late on a Sunday night after lots of driving during the day. We were very happy to find a place open with good food and drinks. We got 4 meals for our family of 5, with the 5th batting cleanup for everyone else. We ate outside on their picnic tables which was also pleasant. read more

in Great Falls, Montana this week. We stopped into The Block for dinner. They have a laid back sports bar feel with great classic rock music playing. We ordered the Tri Tip Nachos as a starter. The chips are made in house and the tri tip was on point. We ordered the "shareable" order and I think we could have shared with the entire restaurant and had leftovers!! My coworker ordered this weeks special which was the Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich with a side of this house made potato chips. She stated that the chips were better with something on them, referring to the nachos. However, she loved the sandwich! I had the Capresi Sandwich with a side salad. The Ranch dressing for the salad was a little runny but had a great taste. I loved my sandwich and they had the right balance of basil and balsamic reduction. Walked in on a quiet Sunday. Staff were donned in various NFL jerseys. It wasn't too busy (but then again it is Great Falls, MT.) The menu was all about the grilled cheese. I really liked that the sandwiches and sides came in two sizes which allowed us to try a little bit of everything. The rundown on my order: Buffalo Chicken Nachos: Nachos but with chips? Genius. Loved the Buffalo Cheese sauce the chips were smothered in. Tri-Tip Grilled Cheese: A good amount of heat from the chimichurri. A good balance of meat and cheese to remind you it's a grilled cheese sandwich with beef- not the other way around. Loaded Tots: The portion of this side was huge! I got mine with everything so it was a nice, tasty, sloppy mess of a side. If you find yourself off the main drag in Great Falls, this is a must-stop for some of the best grilled cheese you'll set eyes on. read more

Went for lunch to try something different. Food came out real fast and was fresh. Sandwiches were reasonably priced and tasted great. Chips were a great side. Staff was nice but inflexible with menu items (had to get it exactly as posted on the menu). Atmosphere was pretty cool with the video games and bar set up. Really like this place. read more

The main attraction was the Nashville Hot and Cheesesteak melts I ordered. I gave 3 stars because the taste of the food was lacking the flavor inspired by the cities of the melts. I've been to Nashville and what I had didn't even pack the heat. Lived in Philly the cheesesteak needed some seasoning. Very large servings and the tots were fried perfectly. Honestly, not too many places in Great Falls with restaurants having a 4 star or better. Most are in the 3 star or less. This place was rated a 4 star so we decided to give it a try. We were greeted very friendly when we walked in. You order at the bar and find a table. I can't remember what sandwich we ordered, I think it was a Turkey Club that my husband and I split. I thought it was very good. It came with tots which I enjoyed. My husband thought the sandwich was good but he is not a tots guy but I think he liked them as he ate a good amount. Sandwich was amazing!!! Disappointed that online it said Lobster Mac Sandwich and they dont have that anymore. I got the Jalapeno Popper Sandwich and it was spicy fresh jalapeños not the jarred pickles ones, with cream cheese and sliced cheddar. Would recommend this one. My husband got the Special of the Week Steakhouse. He really liked it. It comes in half or whole sandwich sizes. I got tater tots and my husband got the homemade chips. How is it my fault your system sends an order to the kitchen before I pay god forbid someone change their mind quickly. They had me at tri tip sandwich! After a day at Glacier National Park, my son and I stopped by for dinner. We both ordered the tri-tip sandwich. It was packed with tender tri-tip and cheese. It was delicious! My son had a side of home made potato chips and I had a side of their home made chili. Half of a sandwich and a bowl of chili filled me up! The chili had ground beef and beans, thick, hearty and a lingering heat to it. I would say this is a medium heat. Very flavorful! The eating area is clean, open, and staff is very friendly. Best Caprese sandwich I've had in the west! The tater tots are great but the homemade chips are not. The drink selection is pretty decent and they're quick in getting orders out. The service is friendly and helpful which helps because it is often busy and crowded. Though it would be nice to not have to close out my order at the start because sometimes having another drink or two would be nice but not in multiple transactions that I've got to get back in line to make. Really want to give this place a higher rating but as many reviewers already stated, great food is cheapened by rude service. The food was amazing I enjoyed the fruit stuffed French toast and my hubby loved his breakfast burrito. Sat outside on a hot morning and it was lovely except for the loud music. We were the only ones there. We asked to have the music turned down so we could enjoy good conversation and were rudely informed that it wasn't possible. (However it did happen - I guess by magic.) Cold brew from the grocery store was good with a full cup of ice so when asked for a refill, again was rudely spoken to that they would have to charge for another. Came here yesterday. We each each had different chicken sandwich. Expensive flavorful sandwich. The flavors on the sandwich and crunch of the "chicken" was fantastic. Inside the breading we could not find much chicken. The bread was stale. The fries were cooked perfectly and served with a wonderful spicy Mayo dipping sauce. Service was wonderful. My girlfriend and I went to The Block on her recommendation. I was pleasantly surprised by the food quality, to be honest. Though, the portions (I had the BBQ Mac) were a little too large. The potato chips were delicious but they were not very spicy and did taste a little too heavy on the paprika. As some have stated, the staff was not very helpful, and while I wouldn't call them rude, they certainly could use some training. Our order came out quickly, but my girlfriend received the incorrect sandwich. No harm no foul yet the disarray was very evident. They are on the pricier side (~$14/sandwich) but they are full of flavor and filling. Just tried The Block for the first time after hearing good things about it. I really enjoyed my custom built sandwich with turkey, pepper Jack cheese, onions and pesto on marbled rye. What a satisfying grilled sandwich! I got the side salad for an extra charge ands boy was this a surprise! Very generous portion and chocked full of vegey goodness, all fresh and nice.
