They say sorry I won't be able to do what your scheduled for. The Blowout Bar is a group of salons in Central Ohio specializing in hair styling and blowouts. They also do make up application as well as fun looks for events. I have been coming to the Blowout Bar for the past few years if I have a special event or for a special treat. I have long wavy hair which is super easy to straighten or wear as is, but I can not competently do a blow out with curls that last no matter how hard I try. Thankfully their stylists are amazing and are able to quickly and efficiently nail various looks. Cole is one of my favorites and today I had Amber who was amazing! They also have various packages to be more cost effective. My blowout also lasts for an entire week when I use dry shampoo. The atmosphere is fun, friendly, and I definitely recommend if you are looking to elevate your look or just want a little break from styling your own hair! read more

I was greeted in a rushed manner when I arrived. Did not ask if it was my first time there, did not ask if I wanted anything to drink, did not tell me the name of my stylist....just an "I'll go get her." I booked for a 10 minute scalp massage. This is an add-on service that you pay for. Totally not worth the money, and not sure it was actually 10 minutes. If I'm remembering correctly, it was only $7. My only feedback would be for them to be more mindful of what's on TV, while I was there there was some sort of Pixar like cartoon movie on. They also offer some make up service on the menu, but apparently their person is usually just in on weekends. $40 before tip for a blowout which is pretty standard. I received a gift certificate for the blowout bar for Mother's Day. I've had 2 blowouts done and I definitely had 2 different experiences, but still would recommend this place as a "splurge" or gift idea. The first experience left my hair soft and shiny and blowout for like 4 days without a greasy feeling. Money well spent! The second experience was good but the girl used a mouse on my hair that left it kind of sticky and I could feel the product on my hair which I'm not a huge fan of. On the third day though, I re-curled my hair and added a bit of oil to it and it looks smooth and shiny! I'll probably get 4-5 days out of this one again. I've been to several blowout places and this one is atrocious in cost. Two French braids is considered an updo and cost me $100 minus the tip. Yes im the idiot for tipping but my stylist did her job. Any other location I've been to, I've been charged a blow out plus $10 per braid. I've gotten creative in the past and I get blowouts as a treat to myself. At this price, I can forget about that. My style lasted half a day. My hair typically holds the style for 2-3 depending on how I take care of it. I've been coming here for a while and I always leave feeling great and happy with my hair, Desi is wonderful and super attentive. I highly recommend her if you come to the Dublin location, I've gotten blowouts at the Grandview location and they do a great job as well. Recently I had a blowout done (Flirtini) by another stylist and it didn't hold up for some reason, and I called the salon and they immediately offered me a free blowout so I would come back. I'm super happy with the way my hair turned out, since I have a pretty hectic schedule.. I look forward to going there and relaxing while watching a romantic comedy and having some girl talk. I'm glad they were able to accomodate me at an early time slot with Desi. If you live in Dublin, this is a great place to unwind and be pampered for a little bit. So so so disappointed. I was really excited to try out blowout bar. I know so many people who go to other locations/ different companies and leave with gorgeous styled hair, but unfortunately that's not what happened with me. Firstly, when I arrived I was not greeted by the woman working the front desk. She was finishing checking out a very inquisitive customer but no one said a word to me so I sat myself down. Not a huge deal, but since I'm a new customer a greeting or just letting me know where I could wait would have been nice. My stylist was very nice and asked what I was looking for and I explained clearly that I wanted loose waves and to add a little volume. Unfortunately, I ended up with a rats nest of tight crunchy curls and teased hair. The back of my head literally looked like It hasn't been brushed. While she was curling I specifically said I didn't want my hair to be crunchy or stiff, and I don't like using so much hairspray. But she continued to spray each strand of hair before and after every curl to the extent where my hair looked hard. I could barely run my fingers through my hair it was such a knotted hair sprayed mess. Also, somehow she blowdried it in a way where it is incredible frizzy. Not sure how I had frizz with the amount of hairspray and crap in my hair, but I did. I had to go home and re-do my hair the best I could before an event I was attending. Definitely could have used my time and money better and stayed home. I will not be returning. I hate to write these reviews, but I also don't want anyone else to go through what I did. read more

I've been to both of the locations in Grandview and Dublin. The most recent time Jordan did my hair in Dublin. I always get the cosmo, but they have a lot of options for straight, curly, pony tails, braids and more. They even are doing make up now! The start by washing your hair. The next time I am in Columbus I will definitely be coming back here for a blow out! ***Original Review*** First off, I absolutely HATE giving critical reviews. But this has to do more with the booking system/ customer service than the actual hair service. I booked my appointment online when I arrived in Ohio on Monday for what I thought was Wednesday at 1:00. I didn't really think much more about it, but now I realize I didn't receive a confirmation email. I went about my business and then I get an email on Tuesday at 1:45. It says, "sorry we missed you!" I immediately think "Oh, NO! I must have booked the appointment for the wrong date online". I immediately call, but instead of someone answering the phone, it just immediately goes to a voicemail box. I leave a message explaining my error, asking someone to call me back to see if there is anything I can do and get rebooked for Wednesday. That was at 2:00pm. I never received a call back, and there is a charge for the full amount of my appointment pending on my credit card. I completely understand having a cancelation policy, however things happen and people make mistakes, especially in an online booking system. To charge my card and not have anyone call me back to at least speak with me about it really feels like poor customer service. The real kicker here is that I STILL want to get my hair done today, but I guess I will have to try to find somewhere else, because I don't want to give my money to a place that can't even do me the courtesy of calling me back. read more

I had an amazing experience with Brianna. I have African American hair and have not had great luck with finding someone who can straighten it in the suburbs. Brianna straighten my hair so nicely and professionally. It feels good and has great movement. This has been a consistently great salon for me and I don't have the easiest hair to blow dry.But if it's done properly, the blow dry will last about two weeks.Over the years, I have had several different stylists here and I have never been disappointed.Presently, I am requesting ALYSSA because she is super eager to please,welcomes my input on what works best for my hair and my hair looks and lasts perfectly.She is very sweet and makes the experience fun.Quite simply, she had continually done a wonderful job so I try to have her do my hair. However if you don't have a favorite stylist outside of this salon,or you do and they aren't available you can feel confident choosing any stylist here.In my opinion this a true "blowout salon" and all of the stylists are great at executing any of the services offered. I just left The Blowout Bar and couldn't be happier! I am so happy to have found this cute spot. From the sweet receptionist to my awesome hair stylist. Coming from LA, we've got Drybar and all the other bootleg knockoffs but The Blowout Bar is different and feels different. They don't use the crappy hair products that most blowout salons use - they use Oribe and Kevin Murphy. I had the luck of having Desi do my hair and she did a beautiful job. She knew exactly which products to use and blew my long thick hair out in less than an hour. I enjoyed our conversation too and I'm so happy to have found her in Ohio! Pros: -front desk staff is great -the place looks very nice -appointment system is very easy -everyone else BUT my stylist looked friendly and happy to work there -everyone else BUT me left happy and pretty with their blowout Cons: -unfriendly stylist -blowout only lasted few hours when I was specifically told by the stylist that it would last until the next day and the website states few DAYS. I even told her that I have difficulty holding curls yet she barely put on any hair styling products. -the stylist didn't bother saying a single word to me but she had no problem eavesdropping and stop working on my hair to talk to the stylist/customer next to me. The "customer" was actually an employee of the blowout bar because she was the one answering the business phone! -customer service: I emailed the blowout bar in regards to this poor experience and how disappointed I was and all I got was an apology and that I should request another stylist from now on. If you want to know the stylist I had, she had blonde hair, heavier set, with dark plastic glasses. She didn't even bother introducing herself so I do not know her name! Seriously, I saw everyone else's hair and the stylists and they were all chatting and looked like they were all having a great time. Except mine! The staff was nice enough. The lady at the front desk was welcoming and did offer a glass of coffee or water. The salon was beautiful and it was easy enough to book my appointment online. Unfortunately, I dont have anything else thats positive. For starters the stylist barely listened to what i asked for (straight.. I just wanted my hair straight with a little volume) and when i asked if he could add a small braid in the front he said " ill try but im not very good at braids." what is the point of having braids as an option if your stylist cannot do it?? Secondly, he squirted shampoo on my shirt (luckily enough I was wearing a workout top) which he apologized for and I was willing to look past. However, when a professional washes your hair its usually a relaxing massage but instead, the guy just patted the shampoo and conditioner on my head. To be honest, it felt like a child was washing my hair. We had little to no conversation except for the two times that he asked "how are you feeling so far"--feeling..? While the stylist did take his time and energy to thoroughly dry my hair i was a little taken back with the result. To be honest, my hair looked like a birds nest. It was messy, curly in some areas, and completely flipped out at the ends. I asked him if he could straighten it out (reminder, i asked this from the beginning) which he was happy to do....i guess. I expected him to fire up the straightener but in stead he literally just brushed my hair down. At this point i was just over it and admitted defeat. He asked if i still wanted the braid but since i knew i needed to rush home and fix the mess (and didnt have the energy to see what the braid would look like) i told him no. I paid, gave him a tip, and left as quickly as i could. Heres the deal: most girls come to this type of salon for a reason..an occasion. Mine? I was taking engagement photos that day. You expect to walk out feeling good, pretty, and that your time (and money) is well spent. Instead, i walked out not knowing what i just paid for. I had a training blowout with Carletta. I told her I had a wedding the next day and wanted to wear my hair down with relaxed curls from my blowout. She did exactly what I wanted! My hair looked the best it ever has and it was effortless to wear to the wedding. Not to mention, threw it up in a ponytail two days post-blowout and ran the Columbus Marathon, took it down after and went to lunch STILL with great looking hair.
