I have been coming to The Blowout Bar weekly for 2 years. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Lauren is always on time, and in 30 minutes she makes my curly hair straight and smooth. I am so thankful that It is open again (after being closed due to COVID-19). I appreciate all of the safety measures that have been put into place to keep each client and the staff safe. A beautiful new addition to the area! I believe this business will do wonderfully because of its services, location, and prices. The inside is nicely decorated and clean. They just opened up last weekend and it was already pretty busy! I believe they take clients by appointment only (which can easily be made on the website). I signed up for my appointment the day before coming in and received an email and text to confirm the time. The staff is very nice and you could tell care greatly about the happiness of the customers. With any new business, of course, they'll have to work out the few kinks but that will happen with time! Lauren and Gina are fantastic! I come pretty often to have my hair done (as I currently have a weird transitional Japanese straightening growing out phase happening - so my hair is half curly/half straight and full annoying). The blowout lasts a few days where I do not have to fight w/ my own head of hair. The inside decor is bright, clean, and super cute. Appointments are easy to make. Definitely recommend! PS. If you asked me upon opening what I thought, I would say this was a wonderful salon and Lauren (owner and head stylist) was incredible. Unfortunately I have stopped going to her salon in the last year because of multiple conversations I have been a witness to in her salon, in regard to other salon patrons, and 2 of them being my best friends. I was disgusted to hear that again in recent weeks Lauren has gossiped and vocalized that she cancelled my friends hair appointment on the day of her bridal shower because she felt she wasn't given a "proper" gratuity previously. It is one thing to cancel or not welcome a client back for business reasons, it is another thing to slander their name in front of others and ruin a very special day in their lives because you feel your compensation wasn't enough. As a former patron, I will never come back and I feel as though the Whitestone and bayside community should reconsider who they trust when they're in the chair. read more

I HATE paying for a service knowing that I could have done a far better job myself but that's exactly what happened here. A lady named Wendy gave me the quickest and worst shampoo ever and then proceeded to give me a blowout that left me with limp, frizzy hair. Lauren attempted to correct it but frankly, I will have to use a flat iron when I get home (which I rarely have to use when I blow out my own hair). Never again. read more

The entire staff is very warm and inviting. She washed my hair and constantly asked if the temperature was okay and made me so comfortable. I didn't know if I wanted the curls or not and I left it up to Lauren who went to work and I'm SO HAPPY with my results. My hair lasted a good 5/6 days. Disgusted. Ursula did my hair wonderful. Lauren has a horrible attitude and throws off the entire vibe of the salon. When a customer left the salon, - she started vaping . She then spoke to an employee very rudely - arguing back and forth about the placement of her water bottle ..... I asked if I could wait in the seating area while waiting for my ride. I started going to the blowout bar a few months after it opened last year because my friends went and gave good reviews. I've been back literally once a month at leastttt since then ! Every time I have an event to go to I make sure I make an appointment. The price is $25 for a wash & blow, you really can't beat it! My hair is by no means easy to work with, it's super curly and friZzy, and Wendy is my favoriteeee. I dont write reviews often, but it's been a while since I've found a service business that I've stayed loyal to for over a year straight, I'm sure many others can relate! All of the girls listen to what you want and I've never had an issue with my hair, and I am picky. There's also no pressure to talk the whole time or fake a long conversation with the person doing your hair (which I absolutely HATE about other places) you can just relax, or you can gossip if you want to, it's super laid back! There's only 3 chairs so it's not like you'll wait long or be there for hours, I am usually on time and in/out in 30-40 mins. This was the first salon I've been to that didn't have that "big salon feel" that I was normalized to, and honestly I like it so much more. read more

I came to the blowout bar today for the first time and WOW!!!! From the moment I walked in the girls at the front desk were so friendly and made me feel completely comfortable. This place is absolutely amazing. Lauren and Ursula are so wonderful and amazing at their job. Ursula blew out my hair and curled it for two baby showers I had and it lasted all day (which my hair never holds!!). I loved them so much going back for my son's christening to have my hair done and they are nice enough to open early for me. The Blowout Bar BLOWS, and not in a good way. Their website looks great and one expects a different level of service based on it. They ABSOLUTELY need to follow through and hire people to deliver. First bad sign is the person who picked up the phone when I made an appointment - lifeless, uninterested voice. Second bad sign, the person at the front desk looked bored to be alive, with her chin resting in her hand. You're NOT at home, you're at work. The person blowing out my hair looked and acted equally uninterested, and it showed in her work. The three of us were the only ones in the place. I had an important meeting and my hair looked meh at best. It looked like something I could do at home with a flat iron instead of something I paid a salon to do. I really really wanted to like this place. The first time I came here I loved my blowout, so much that I was willing to overlook the mediocre service. But my second visit? Girlllll never have I ever experienced service so terrible. The place itself is really cute. The lady at the front, which is the owner's mom is incredibly nice and patient. But the owner Lauren is rude and condescending it made me so uncomfortable. My hair was washed in about 2 minutes and I probably have some burn marks on my scalp from the blowdryer being blown directly on my scalp. There was no volume and my hair fell almost completely flat in a couple of hours. I had to ask for more volume and it still wasn't what I wanted. Also customers will be late, if you can't learn to deal with that then maybe the service industry is not for you. Cursing out customers or talking crap is just not acceptable especially when there are customers present. Most of the customers seem to be friends or repeat customers so I guess building a relationship with new customers is not of importance to them. My second blowout was def not up to my standards, even my boyfriend was like uh this is what you paid for? I asked for something specific and ended up with nothing close to that. Located downstairs in the Bayside Plaza, The Blowout bar is trendy, cute and super clean! From the fur covers on chairs and the rugs to the hand made gorgeous flower mural hanging on the wall. Not to mention that every single staff member is helpful, kind and always does what I ask for! There isn't one bad stylist in the salon!
