Minor crowd + good bar food. This combo is hard to Beet! Blue Beet is a dive bar that sits pretty close to the Newport Beach Pier. This spot is known for its multi level rooms, including a pretty cool rooftop area that overlooks the ocean. On a clear day you can even see Catalina! Despite being in a very popular area, Blue Beet is hidden in a small alcove. It doesn't get as much traffic as it's neighboring bars, which makes it the perfect local hang. They also serve food, which is a major win in my book. I ordered the chicken nachos and the pickle fries. Both fried munchies were made to perfection for a drunk stomach. I ended up sharing these with a group of 5+ and it was more than enough food to get the job done.

Sweet rooftop deck off the beaten path in Newport Beach. Decent food, bountiful sunshine, great service. Apparently there's music downstairs and it seems a little divey below, but the rooftop is sunshine and happiness and good vibes.

Came here for some light night food and I have to say that the Blue Beet is a let-down, along with the high prices as well. I ordered a quesadilla, which came out to be $12 for a tiny portion. It was good nonetheless, but I won't be back here again! Beer is crazy expensive here as well, but I'm not surprised since we are at Balboa.

The owner, Domenico, not only gives a masterclass in hospitality every night, but he truly is a warm and generous man who will ensure that your evening is special. He treats everyone as family. He provides live entertainment every night (rare anywhere these days), and when he gets up on stage, he sings from his heart wiith a talented charm and love for music. The chef, Carmelo, is a young master. His food is excellent and if there is a special...try it! He puts his heart and soul into his dishes. The staff follows in Domenico's footsteps and, even when the night gets busy, they treat us like family and ensure our night is the best. The entertainment last night was the duo of Marcelo on guitar, and Walter on saxaphone. Both are talented, seasoned professionals and gentlemen whom we have come to know and appreciate. From rock, to jazz, merenge to George Benson, they kept the vibe going all night. Obviously, I can't recommend spending your evening at Red Room enough! It's a rare gem.

From the moment we were greeted warmly by the maître d' to the bartenders and servers welcoming us with their radiant smiles and gestures, to Domenico personally tending to our needs throughout the evening, we could not have asked for a better way to celebrate. Domenico was particularly welcoming, genuinely engaged in conversation with us and not just superficial small talk...but fully engaged in a heartfelt conversation about family, life, and food. We did not feel like we were at a restaurant, but at Domenico's house where we were welcomed as his guests to partake in an intimate gather. He checked on us throughout the meal and made sure we were taken care. And yes, the food was OUTSTANDING! It's an extensive menu and so much to choose from. We got the short ribs, pollo al funghi, and octopus/potato salad. All were amazing, with Domenico providing background on how each dish was derived and prepared. Don't hesitate to visit. It's a positively unique experience you shouldn't miss out on. Domenico and his family will take care of you!

What we love about this place is they have happy hour everyday from open to I believe 7, you can't beat that! The food and drinks: we got a tamarindo margarita and we liked it a lot. Good flavor although it could have used a bit more alcohol. For tapas we got: croquetas de queso y jamon (we loved them, they were probably our favorite), calamari (it was so good!), empanadas (my boyfriend said they were good), short rib tacos (they were okay but not the greatest), patatas bravas (only thing I wasn't a fan of). Overall, really great food, service and ambiance. We will definitely be back!

The staff is attentive from the moment you enter, and this morning was particularly busy with limited table availability. Despite this, they promptly acknowledged our presence and exhibited exceptional friendliness and assistance. During the order taking process, they continued to provide helpful guidance. Although the tables were packed I think the ambiance was acceptable. The noise level remained low and the service was swift and quiet. The menu had everything we would want. We had the chicken-friend steak and eggs and briskets and gravy. Eggs were cooked excellently, biscuits were also excellent. Here are my suggestions. Chicken-fried steak - this item tastes and feels like frozen steak pre-breaded and fried - tossed in the microwave and covered with white cream gravy. This item needs to be raised to the level of freshly fried and not in seed oil but in avocado or coconut oil (both are high temp and non-toxic) The gravy is white cream and flavorless - it needs to receive the "drippings" from the fried steak, sausages, or bacon to produce brown gravy with some flavor. This establishment does not have espresso - every other breakfast place in OC does - Breakfast Republic, Poached Kitchen, Cracked Egg, etc. Servers can make good espresso if the espresso machine is automatic like a Jura with two bean trays and a milk reservoir. This is a profit center and most places have a dedicated person who continuously make espresso drinks.

Long before Yelp was even a thing, and long before the internet really was put into the hands of the cow in person, this was the hub. This is where you went to meet people, exchange ideas, have conversation and more. The harp is really an institution in Orange county. And not just because it has longevity, there's a reason that it has sustained power. This place is probably one of the most authentic Irish pubs I've been to. Having been to Ireland. I can attest that this is right there with a standard pub in a small town. Which makes it wonderful. The people that run the place, especially Paul, is one of the reasons why I keep coming back here. He's personable, funny, and no-nonsense right. I like his way of thinking and his approach to customer service a second to none. Now let's talk about the food and drinks. From a drink standpoint. You cannot go wrong with this place, the drinks are thoughtfully made, this guy knows how to pour a beer. As far as food goes. I highly recommend the beefeater sandwich, and you cannot go wrong with the chicken wings. Some of the best wings I've had ever. Friday and Saturday nights is usually popping pretty hard when they have bands playing. So, good luck trying to find a seat anywhere in the place. When there is an event that night. You will have to get there early for sure. The bottom line? This is a go-to hangout. If you are looking for a good watering hole to meet people, just hang out and have a good time, or watch a game on the big screen TVs. F*** I would highly recommend the harp to anybody and everyone in the Orange county area.

I mentioned I wanted to sit at the Bar, she smiled and said find a nice spot. Pulled up a stool, sat down between two women on the right and one guy on the left. Almost immediately, my Bartender Sierra stepped up to see what I would be drinking. Ordered a Manhattan and it was cheerfully served to me at Rocket Speed! Well done. The set-up for this classy, old-school cocktail was superb. Of course it was served neat in a Martini stem with a real cherry, not one of those neon, radio active ones and there was also a small carafe with more of the Manhattan contained within for me to repenish my glass. Details matter a great deal and Sierra and the Bar really nailed it with this cocktail! Before too long, I was chatting with the folks adjacent to me on both sides and as can happen, we soon became friends. This always adds to the vibe and fun so things started off really well. That vibe kept going as did the fun! Fortunately, it was a live music night and Sophia was performing. As a musician having been in rock bands back in the day, I always appreciate live music. I'm telling you, Sophia had it going on that night! She played a great collection of songs on her keyboard and is blessed with a remarkable voice-Strong, powerful, energetic, soulful, gutsy and capable of hitting ALL the high notes! I was really digging the vibe, drinks and music and I felt hunger pangs but wasn't really feeling like anything heavy so I asked Sierra to see if the kitchen could whip me up something close to a Cobb Salad. She took care of that for me and the kitchen did the rest with a great version of that Salad! Bravo. Was getting late and I had to drive back so I eschewed the old one for the road and said my goodbyes. I had a great time at The Quiet Woman and now have a new favorite bar.
