My wife and I heard of the Stag Bar and Kitchen from some random man we encountered who said their pizza was fantastic. The conversation was 8 months ago at which time we checked it out and tried the hippie pizza. This pizza was amazing! The bar and restaurant has daily specials Monday through Thursday and we make it a point to eat there a couple times each month. The bartenders and kitchen is pretty much furnished and remains as it was years ago giving it a nostalgic feel for the Newport Beach of years ago, super cool! The bartenders, servers and chefs are all very friendly and helpful. We have tried a lot of the menu items and none have disappointed. Menu prices are very reasonable. We leave Newport Beach each summer and this year, upon our return, the Stag Bar and Kitchen was our first choice for lunch. read more

Great experience. We went for lunch and loved the pizza and house made meatballs. They have plenty of deals for every day of the week. Comfortable seating and great service. This is a huge bar. They seem to have weekday specials. When we went the special was 1/2 priced large pizza. We ordered a 16" Margherita Pizza, a pretzel, and a Caesar salad with the chicken on the side. It was all good. Although the Margherita pizza looked more like just a cheese pizza. So we went out for an impromptu Monday date night in Newport Beach. It was later in the evening and we stumbled upon Stag Bar + Kitchen. As far as the bar, it was what you would expect - pool tables, bar, locals having a good time. The kitchen it towards the back. We ordered a Mai Tai, IPA, Virgin Mojito, Dirty Totts, and the Hippie pizza. Staff was very kind, brought our drinks almost immediately, and our food was right behind. The Mai Tai was PERFECT. The tots were FIRE, and the pizza was soo good we are making plans to go back to try the rest of their menu. All of that for $63. We will definitely be back. read more

Absolutely terrible miscommunication. Drove an hour here after speaking to a representative saying they'd allow my guest in to dine in just to be rejected at the door, despite them saying all ages multiple times. Went across to sharkeez and they let us in no problemo without calling. If you're in the area just skip this place and hit sharkeez. Better management. read more

Stag Bar is always a go-to for nightlife in Newport Beach. They pretty much always have good music playing and even sell pizza pretty late. They have pool tables if you are into that, as well as a photo booth. read more

OK everyone thinks a bar/restaurant near the beach is gonna have mediocre food at expensive prices, right? Hah, not at this place, which makes amazing food and sometimes offers it at special values that you just don't typically find in Newport Beach. We strolled in on a Wednesday, when they have all day happy hour. That means my Companion gets a decent chardonnay at $5, I get six wings for $5, any of the personal pizzas for only $8 and the "dirty tater tots" (cheese sauce, brisket, jalapenos) for only $8. This is the oldest bar in Orange County, and has a lot of character. Our bartender/server Christina was so helpful, kind, knowledgeable about the menu and a real plus for the business. She said other specials are also amazing such as a burger and fries for $7 on Thursday. This bar was super fun and lively but was never overly crowded which was nice! Services was just as you'd expect from a busy bar. Good, but nothing extraordinary. Lots of TV's with all the sports. Found this neighborhood bar on a Thursday night and thought we'd try it after seeing an "Award Winning Pizza" on Yelp and their website. It was quiet when we walked in, with 2 guys playing pool, 1 guy sitting at the very nice, long bar, and 3 people occupying two intimates booths near the pool tables. The bar keeper greeted us and confirmed we could sit where we liked. The large room seemed split and the other side had more tables and the open kitchen so we went to that side. We were greeted quickly with menus and the offer of water to start. When those came Hubs went with black coffee and I with a pint of Angry Orchard. Cider is SO GOOD right out of the keg and I rarely pass it up. I saw the option of some sandwiches being "protein style" so I ordered the Chicken Pesto Club, no bun, just in "salad" form. Hubs went with a simple Canadian Bacon personal pizza. This wasn't on the menu, but the ingredients were listed on the couple of the signature pizzas so it was "no problem." Before she left the table, Hubs reminded her of the cream for his coffee. She put the food order in, but I could see and hear confusion in the kitchen about the cream she was requesting. Finally it was understood it was needed for coffee, so cold milk was retrieved from the fridge. My food came about 10 mins later. Oddly, I also noticed as my order came up, a pizza was going INTO the oven. About 10 minutes later our server came over to tell us there was miscommunication about the pizza and the kitchen made a BBQ Chicken pizza instead of Canadian Bacon. She offered the free pizza and said the correct one was being made. Since this is more of a "CC" pizza than a Hubs pizza, I accepted it. It was yummy. The crust is thin, which I usually don't go for, but it was very tasty. As for my Chicken Pesto Club - it was definitely yummy, but served in a plastic basket with paper lining, so a challenge to eat as a salad. I'm pretty sure some of that wet and torn paper was ingested after trying to cut up the ingredients salad style. It IS supposed to be a sandwich, so that challenge was all mine. More fiber! lol Another 12 minutes and Hub's fresh, hot CB pizza arrived and - after excitedly scorching his mouth with molten cheese - released a satisfied, guttural 'Oooooh yeeesssss!' He happy! After I finished my food I was asked if I wanted another pint. I declined. When the check came I asked on behalf of Hubs for a top off of his coffee. A few minutes later our serv returned to explain it would be awhile since a fresh pot had to be brewed and was that ok. Yes, not a problem. She left and we wondered if he was never checked on or offered a refill because she knew it would mean brewing a fresh pot???? Anywho, about another 10 mins later and a fresh, hot cup arrived. About this time, a few more people came in to eat, drink and play pool. But it was never loud or unpleasant. It IS a sports bar, so we thought it would be a bit more raucously filled. The manager - we assume - swung past to ask if I wanted another pint and check on us which we appreciated. One final, interesting note, the men's room had an attendant keeping things tidy and "some sort of assortment of goods in a box" as reported by Hub. The ladies room was NOT attended. Terrible communication and terrible service. I drove a whole hour to come to this bar for the pizza and called ahead to make sure that I could come in and that I was 21 years old with no id and they said people under the age of 21 with no ID can come in until 8 PM, as soon as I got to the door, they called their manager over to tell me that I could not come in because I had bo id and that no one can come in unless they were 21 even though the person on the phone told me that I can come in until 8 P. Overall terrible service I definitely do not recommend this place. They totally need to keep their stuff up-to-date and fix their situation. I ended up having to go over to Sharkeys for food. I understand not being able to have people come in without ID telling people that they can come in without ID and under age is ridiculous whenever that's not the case. read more

Ordered some pizza's for take out for the family and the Pizzas were delicious! The cheese to sauce ratio is perfect for the cheese pie. The cheese was great, had some char on the crust! The pepperoni pizza had a good crunch in the dough and the pep had a nice kick when dunked in ranch. The dough was great and had a good undercarriage, with a nice crunch bite after bite. I went here with my cousins after a morning cruise on a Duffy at the harbor. We were a bit tipsy and looking for something good to eat. Outside looks really trendy and like a fun place to eat and drink. We arrived around 1pm and found a seat near the bar. With our close proximity to the bar, you would assume we would received attentive service. Unfortunately, we must have been invisible with how dark it is inside. Our server seems to be spread thin with her seemingly running around the entire place and avoiding eye contact at all cost. We had to flag her down multiple times to order food, drinks, ask for boxes. Food was mediocre. Buffalo pizza was soooo salty our taste buds were trashed for the rest of the meal. 9-5-2025 - There was a line to get in, but it went super fast, so we didn't have to wait long. Once you get inside, it is cramped shoulder to shoulder, like a can of Sardines. There are a lot of college kids. The beer selection is great. They have Guinness, which I love because a lot of bars don't serve it. The drinks are okay. Nothing special. They were watered down, or they gave you the knock-off brands of alcohol. I would go back to try the food. read more

I absolutely love this bar! The bartenders, servers, security team, and management really display the highest level of care and awareness for their customers. One example was when I lost my phone and I asked one of the security guards to help me find it. The chill and friendly vibes at Stag Bar was the second quality I've noticed. This place has completely gone downhill in the last few months, especially since the management change. The previous manager was friendly and welcoming, but the current management is rude, self-centered, and totally unprofessional. Even the long-term employees feel the same way. The food is mediocre at best. Pizzas have jumped about 60% in price, making them no longer a good value, and the wings are disappointing. During the day, the bar is mostly empty except for a few sloppy, long-bearded drunks harassing customers. At night, it draws a younger college crowd, but even then, the service is inconsistent--some servers are nice, others are rude, and the younger staff clearly lack training and manners. The best servers have left for other bars, and the bartenders range from very nice to extremely rude. Security is mostly cool, except for one complete jerk who treats customers like trash. On hot days, the place reeks of stale beer, and overall, it feels neglected. With better options in the area for food, drinks, and service, this is not a place worth spending your money. It desperately needs a major overhaul, a management change, and a complete injection of professionalism. read more
