Let's start with the front of the house. cheap vinyl table covers are fine for a BBQ place, not a supposedly upmarket bistro. our waitress was earnest, but perhaps she should be told that chomping on gum is not a good look or sound. It also would be nice if the glass front door were cleaned occasionally. Maybe it's just me, but used napkins and dirty dishes should be taken out of sight, not piled on an unoccupied table near the kitchen. My filet was a horribly cut sirloin (a filet should NOT have fat), and tasted like 2 hamburger patties. Haven't been to The Blue Bicycle for almost a year and really missed it. Went last night with my wife and a good friend and it was once again fantastic. The service outstanding and the food was excellent as has always been our experience. We had many of the appetizers and two of the salads. My wife and I went to Blue Bicycle tonight with some friends. Everything was great. Two of us had the mountain trout, one had the chicken provencal and one had the duck. We finished with some key lime pie and chocolate mousse. All were fantastic. Service was attentive yet not overbearing. The service and ambiance were beyond compare. This is by far, the best restaurant north of at least exit 12 off 400. The price point is excellent. They have the best trout of any restaurant I've had in Georgia, and I love trout! Gisele makes a mean lemoncello and is a great host. This is a perfect date night or special occasion spot! Blue Bicycle is located in a side plaza behind the back end of the No GA Outlets. There was plenty of parking and a friendly staff to greet us. While we were waiting a couple shared this is their go-to spot. The restaurant was cozy and tables gave off a date night kind of vibe. Our waitress was friendly and gave us a minute to scan the QR code and figure out what we wanted for brunch. I ordered eggs Benedict, bacon, home fries and a quarter waffle. My friend ordered fruit and eggs. The sous-vie prep was not for us, the eggs were runny at best. The hollandise was all right, not best I've had but fine. The portions of food weren't great especially for the price. Vibe & Service get stars, food and value don't. I've heard they're great for drinks and snacks- I can see that being true. My spouse and I live in Dawsonville and have enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and the location of The Blue Bicycle for several years now. Recently, we have noticed the attention to detail declining. When we arrived a couple of weeks ago we were met by a young man at the door who did not make eye contact with us, greet us or the couple in front of us. He motioned for us to follow him to a table. On another return trip the same young man was wearing blue jean shorts and a white t-shirt. Personally, we feel like all valued customers should be greeted with the utmost professionalism. Went in not expecting much because the rating score wasn't what I was hoping for. We live in Ellijay and often dine in Ellijay and Blue Ridge. This was the best meal we have had in years in any of these towns. The cocktails were incredibly well made and you would have to go to Atlanta to get a steak as good as that which I ate last night. This restaurant has been around for a long, long time...through the 2008 crash and Covid. My mom and I often got Blue Bicycle "to go" during Covid and ate it in their parking lot. There is no store front at all...they are entirely word of mouth. That should tell you something about them. $$-$$$ I am not sure if there is more than one "The Blue Bicycle" in Georgia, but this Blue Bicycle is located in Dawsonville. I think giving this establishment three stars is stretching it a bit. If I could break down the stars given for this particular visit, it would be as follows : Five stars for service... Julia was fabulous and we were grateful that she was on top of taking good care of us. The rest of the staff seemed very nice as well. The ambience inside was small, but very nice and comfortable. Now for the bad news! We were the second couple seated in the restaurant because we waited outside for them to open thinking that a brunch on Sunday would be pretty busy. Georgia law states that a restaurant establishment cannot serve alcohol before 12 noon, so opening your doors at 10:30 for a Sunday brunch that serves mimosas is probably not a good idea, or make a statement that mimosas will not be served until after 12. It took forever for our food to arrive after we ordered. And let me tell you, when they say that the servings are small, they are not lying! My friend, Rich, is tall and slender and, like me, likes to have a good meal. The eggs Benedict should be called "egg Benedict". It is served on one english muffin with one poached egg and a piece of meat of your choice. The egg that I received on top of my Benedict looks like it had not been cooked thoroughly... the whites of the egg look like snot (my apologies if that grossed out anybody, but I write it like I see it). The yolk of the egg was fine, but I actually took apart the Benedict leaving the whites of the egg in the bowl that it was served. The fruit medley was a small dish of fruit with some kind of berry vinaigrette, but was very yummy. The wonderful people that I went with on this initial visit to The Blue Bicycle here Dawsonville deemed this visit "one and done". For the amount of food that is served at the price that they ask is out of my budget for brunch. Places like this make me think that the bottom line is not the customer, but the profit. Food was good but the service was slow, especially since the restaurant itself was slow

I've been coming here at least once or twice a month for the past few years. It appears there has been some change in front of house staffing and management so the service level has gone down a bit. The food is still fantastic but the service is not what I'd expect. The staff aren't dressed in any kind of uniform any more so it can be difficult to determine who works there and who is a guest. There were 4-5 people socializing at the hostess stand most of the night, but most of them were just leaving the seating to the teenager. She seemed to be struggling to get her work done, like having to hold multiple water glasses against her shirt to bring them to the table rather than having a tray to use. She also forgot a dirty dishrag on a table set for service at one point, then came back in a rush to get it but did not clean the table. One of the other people at the stand apparently had child care issues and brought her young daughter to work. The daughter was just hanging around the cramped front of the restaurant which doesn't seem to be a professional thing to do, she should have been given a place to sit out of the way of customers rather than having to stand around getting in the way. At the end of my meal while I was sitting at three table finishing my water and waiting for my companion to return from the restroom, one of the other hostesses came by and took my water glass away. I have never had that happen before but it felt like she was antsy to turn the table. The food is still excellent but due to the overall experience no longer being what I expect for the price point, I think I will take this restaurant out of my rotation while they get the kinks worked out on the service side. read more

We were so glad we took a chance on this place! We went on the early side on a Friday night and it was not very crowded yet so we got a nice table and had a lovely dinner. The food was great, and the service was friendly and professional. The chips with blue cheese were decadent and wonderful, I had the trout which was stellar, and my dinner companion had the warm goat cheese salad. I had an excellent glass of French Sauvignon Blanc.. We used to love to eat here, but since new ownership, it has gone waaaaay down in quality and value! The atmosphere is definitely not the same either! The waitress was very nice but a little slow. The Smokey old fashioned was more like a smokey cherry with some bourbon- much lacking in taste and "smoke". The appetizer of crab cakes left much to be desired! It wasn't "cakes" but just a cake of bread crumbs and corn! The Caesar salad was a wilted mess. For $8 you would expect crisp Romain with nice shaved Parmesan but was not! The main course of filets were lacking in freshness and over abundance of salt! The asparagus was like a few strings of pine straw with twice over-cooked potatoes. I had heard only good things about this place, and they were correct. I'm not that surprised by the bad ratings though. It's a little pricey for the area. I was ok with that, considering the ambiance and quality of food. They were a little short staffed when we were there, which extended wait times a little. This was our last time here! We usually get their steak with peppercorn sauce-- only serving the brunch menu So I had eggs Benedict and my husband had crabmeat Benedict-- The grossest meal ever!! The whites of the eggs were nothing but SNOT!! The bacon was undercooked-- gross and I left feeling very sick to my stomach! The hostess had ONE customer in the place and when she went to seat us she had to then back pedal and say "oh dear I need to clean off a table for you "-- come on-- sit there on your phone and you have dirty tables?? Haven't done brunch yet so this review is specific to dinner service. We were relieved to have some familiar faces serving in the dining room & behind the bar. We shared the Caesar & the newish Vegetarian plate - very good. Goat cheese & herb Quiche was great, with a flaky proper crust. Great to see they have returned Escargot to the menu. Our favorite, the side of french fries, is still available & delicious, served nice & crispy & hot. Very Disappointed. My Fettucine Bolognese was barely palatable. I should have sent it back. The fettuccine was green (perhaps spinach) and the gravy tasted like a can of tomato paste was dumped on the pasta. It was cold and stiff. This is the easiest review I have ever written. Tucked away a few turns off Industrial Park road in Dawsonville, GA is an obscure building that houses an amazing restaurant: The Blue Bicycle. Going down the menu from top to bottom emphasizes the pride and care that the owner and staff have in the place whether it is the cocktails, the appetizers, the...well, everything. The server, Julia, was easy with recommendations and spot on with every one of them. We had the mushroom and gnocchi appetizer with bread, split the chicken in mustard sauce with collard greens and potatoes. And finished with Mexican chocolate bread pudding and their TBB homemade limoncello. Every part of the meal was amazing. The service was delightful and Julia even passed on to us the recipe for the limoncello. We have eaten in many places in different states and different countries, if you are looking for a place that puts it all together, The Blue Bicycle is an absolute gem! read more

Maybe a 4.5. This is a favorite place for special occasions with friends. We've had great experiences there. I've read a few bad reviews and have no idea what they are talking about. My friends and I have always been impressed with the food, the service and by the attention from management. We brought our own very good wine and paid a reasonable corkage fee. We all ordered different dishes and we all were happy with our entrees and our desserts. Our waitress was efficient and friendly and the best part was she had a "tell." When you asked her opinion of various menu items, her face definitely clued you as to which choice she thought would make you happier. She steered us well. You just don't really expect a place this good to be located in a largely hidden industrial strip tucked in behind the outlet mall in Dawsonville but there it is. Glad they are there. First, they sat us in the most remote, unappealing corner of the restaurant and gave us a laminated QR code for a menu. I don't have a problem with using the code though I don't think it's very classy, but it was sticky. The service was slow and inattentive. I had to get up and find someone to refill our drinks. It took half an hour to get our food - chicken salad and a greasy hamburger. The fries looked like they came from McDonalds. There was about a tablespoon of chicken salad on a huge ciabatta roll. The green beans were good but that's about the best I can say. This was such a disappointment as I was treating my granddaughter to a special lunch. There are few nice restaurants in Dawsonville.
