I'd give this place a 3.5. I ordered from doordash, food arrived hot and quickly. Standout for me was the fried shrimp, because it was crispy and perfectly cooked. The fried fish and mozzarella sticks were tasty. The calamari was very soft, but in a odd way. The fries could have been more evenly seasoned but overall I'd eat here again. Coming out of a sports tournament in Redwood City late at night and starving, the Blue Fish Kitchen was the perfect solution as we wanted a high-quality meal that also included seafood. Located in a gas station parking area, the bright yellow food truck was easy to find, and there were a good number of menu options along with a statement that the owner partners with local fishermen to ensure tasty seafood -- something we were eager to test. The owner was really nice and patient as we tried to decide how many things to try. Paying with a credit card was helpful as a lot of other places in the area mainly push for cash only. We sipped on fresh lemonade (with an excellent balance of tang and sweet) as we waited for our freshly cooked platters of grilled fish tacos and mixed fried seafood. There is also a covered seated area with a few plastic tables and chairs which was really convenient. The grilled fish tacos were wonderful, with a generous, beautifully cooked filet in each of the 3 tacos and topped with pico de gallo and plenty of fresh herbs, along with some chips, excellent salsa and some lemon wedges. The mixed seafood platter included a plentiful portion of fried fish, plump shrimp, and calamari rings--everything's was nicely fried and seasoned well, and went great with the house made tartar sauce as well as cocktail sauce. Over the weekend, I was craving some fried fish for an early lunch recently and stumbled upon this spot. I ordered the mixed seafood platter along with a side of onion rings and fried zucchini sticks to share. I would give the seafood platter a 5/5. Everything was fried nicely and the fish really hit the spot for me. The fried calamari were also pretty unique and had a great texture. The real standout for me though was the onion rings. They were lightly battered, perfectly crispy, and honestly some of the best onion rings I've had in a while. I'd definitely come back just for those alone. Unfortunately, the fried zucchini sticks were just not very good. Not only were they very mushy on the inside, they also carried a strange aftertaste that I didn't enjoy at all. Service-wise, the owner was very friendly and welcoming, and the food came out pretty quickly even though we were some of the first customers of the day. I've had this food truck bookmarked for years! So glad that I finally got around to trying it. Parking in the Redwood City Marina area on a weekend was plentiful and the ambience really enhanced our experience: warm peninsula weather coupled with a great bay/water/pier view accompanied our meal perfectly! There wasn't a line and the food prep took about 10 minutes. Plenty of dockside public seating to be found and take in the views while we waited. Heard so much about this place and would always miss the truck. Finally found it on Middlefield rd at the am pm in Redwood City on a weekday. The gentleman was very friendly and nice. Got the fish n chips and some churros since everyone has been raving about it. Fish n chips was ok for me. It lacked seasoning and wasn't flavorful. The fries on the other hand were really good and seasoned great. They used to be right by the peaceful pier, but their new spot next to a gas station isn't quite as charming or comfortable for outdoor dining. The trailer front faces the water; so when you get to the parking lot all you'll see is the bright yellow backside of the truck. There's no signage on the back side btw. My bestie stopped in for the fish & shrimp plate. Came with a tartar, ketchup, cocktail, some kinda mayo sauce, and another sauce with a slight kick but it was not hot though. Portion's BIIIIG easily split between two or for a really hungie person. Shrimp's slightly sweet, fish is (I think) cod, both with light breading. Calamari's the same no thick, heavy coating. Fries are just okay, nothing special he said. Coleslaw's nice, not soggy froggy or drowned in mayo. About $25 ishhhh with tax, I forget tho. The service was hella quick, no line when we went. There are benches and tables nearby with a view of the water if you want to hang out. Fish was flaky and crunchy on the outside but sooo thick and full of flavor on the inside. The fries were crunchier than I thought they would be for basic thick fries. This is by FAR the BEST food truck I have ever had in the entire Bay Area. I initially want to order from this place to try out their fish and chips, and noticed they sold Mexican Tortas and regular burgers. I ordered one of each and loved every single option!! The portions are always huge and the meat and vegetable isn't only fresh, but you can tell it's all organic too. Their French fries are the best French fries I have ever tried out of a food truck. They're just large and crunchy. I think I've ordered over 30 times already this year and still not thinking about stopping. If you like burgers, try their bacon double cheeseburgers. I would estimate about 80% fries and only a small portion of calamari, shrimp, and fish. The fish was also heavily breaded, cut in half, with very little actual meat inside, which was disappointing considering the price. My wife also mentioned that the fries were cold and didn't seem fresh. Overall, it was a bit disappointing for what we paid. As I was placing my order I got a glimpse of the employees hands. His fingernails were black with dirt underneath, he had open sores on his fingers and dried crusted batter all over them. I first stumbled upon their original location at the docks in Redwood City, but as this new location opened up, it was much more convenient for me as they are open late night and I can come after work. Yesterday I met Angel. He's the manager there. He is extremely friendly and has great customer service. The food is made to order so it's guaranteed fresh. I ordered my normal and absolute favorite, the fish tacos. It comes with 3 tacos (non-breaded) and a ton of pico, cilantro, cabbage, and their fish tacos tartar sauce. It also comes with a side of chips for that extra textured bite and lemons for a little more flavor. I personally love the original tacos, but they also have a spicy salsa that they created specifically for the tacos. Beware, if you cannot handle spice, either forego it or put it on the side. I love spice, but asked for it on the side and I actually dipped my chips in it. It was delicious. My husband really loves their fish and chips. Saw Angel battering them up and dropping them in the fryer for a crispy crunch. The fries were a thicker cut which are really nice so you're not getting too much of the overfried flavor. It also came with a slaw, lemons, a white tartar sauce and another red sauce (I'm guessing a cocktail sauce?). Another one of my go to bites are the zucchini sticks. They are breaded and super crunchy, holding their shape and texture. They actually stay crunchy despite zucchini being known as a more "wet" veggie. Sometimes I even just stop by the truck for the zucchini sticks alone. Haha. And lastly, Angel had said they just created a new Aqua Fresca, Jamaica juice which is also known as hibiscus juice. It was so good, I downed half on the way home. It was ice cold and not too sweet. I would definitely get it again. They are on DoorDash, uber eats and grub hub too. We got the shrimp quesadilla and a churro this past Saturday, while enjoying live 80's music at Rock the Dock in Redwood City. This is the only food truck I've ever seen at this event, so I am glad that their dishes and desserts are freshly made and tasty, even if a bit pricey. Both of our items were quite satisfying. They never seem to have a long line or wait, and service is standard, though the worker this past weekend was a little stingy with the plastic utensils. After we started eating, I came back to the truck and asked for a fork, he said it was at the bottom of the plastic bag for my order. I checked twice in the bag, inside the food container, and around our seating area to see if we dropped it or perhaps it flew away. Came back and he still didn't give me a fork, so yeah had to just use my hands for the sides and stuff. Strange that they can't spare one plastic fork, especially with the high prices they charge here and the fact that I asked politely. Got my first Friday of Lent fish dinner from Blue Fish last night. IT WAS EXCELLENT. Next time I'll get Andy's platter with the onion rings which were AWESOME they also had a very nice cloe slaw with the dressing separate so it was crunchy and then finish it off with a churro chaser. I just didn't want calamari, just shrimp & fish I was told the boss said the plates have to stay the same because of inventory. I would've saved you inventory. Beyond disappointed!!!! It was a Wednesday and I initially was craving for zucchini fries , searched Yelp and this restaurant food truck showed up on my list. I ended up ordering the fish sandwich with zucchini fries and I am so glad I did. WOW, I was taken back by the enormous amount of food they give. It's two slices of delicious toasted sourdough bread with lettuce and tomato , enough to be a mini salad, and two oversized fish battered sticks. I started off with the battered fish, and since the portions are huge I struggled to eat it as a sandwich so I just was deconstructing the sandwich as I ate. The batter is amazing and crispy, fish is flaky and fresh, the sauce spread in the sandwich is really good, the kicker is the tarter sauce with the yummy zucchini fries and there was a generous amount of zucchini fries. I'm gonna say this again the tartar sauce is HELLA good. The portions IMO is enough to feed three people. I gave up 1/3 of the food and just as I thought it was soo much food I lifted the bread slice , low and behold there was a huge pile of coleslaw hiding beneath all this giant sandwich. LOL. I am soo impressed worth beyond the $19, did not disappoint ! it was so damn good!! Both chefs were very kind too with great service and clean all around.
