Really enjoyed my first visit to The Blue Fish Kitchen! The fish was fresh, well-seasoned, and had a thin, crispy batter that wasn't too heavy. The sauces added a lot of flavor, and the coleslaw was a nice refreshing balance to the fried food. Fries were solid too. The lady working was also incredibly friendly and welcoming. Definitely coming back!

We had an unfortunate experience at this spot, ordered for pickup through Yelp due to seeing good reviews, and it was the smelliest fish we have ever purchased from a restaurant. It smelled awful, we had to throw both orders away, and that was unacceptable and unfortunate. We had gotten fish tacos and fish and chips, based on the cost you would think it would be tasty and fresh but no it wasn't :( couldn't stand the awful smell so we had to toss it.

    Grilled Fish Tacos (Jan 2026)

Coming out of a sports tournament in Redwood City late at night and starving, the Blue Fish Kitchen was the perfect solution as we wanted a high-quality meal that also included seafood. Located in a gas station parking area, the bright yellow food truck was easy to find, and there were a good number of menu options along with a statement that the owner partners with local fishermen to ensure tasty seafood -- something we were eager to test. The owner was really nice and patient as we tried to decide how many things to try. Paying with a credit card was helpful as a lot of other places in the area mainly push for cash only. We sipped on fresh lemonade (with an excellent balance of tang and sweet) as we waited for our freshly cooked platters of grilled fish tacos and mixed fried seafood. There is also a covered seated area with a few plastic tables and chairs which was really convenient. The grilled fish tacos were wonderful, with a generous, beautifully cooked filet in each of the 3 tacos and topped with pico de gallo and plenty of fresh herbs, along with some chips, excellent salsa and some lemon wedges. The mixed seafood platter included a plentiful portion of fried fish, plump shrimp, and calamari rings--everything's was nicely fried and seasoned well, and went great with the house made tartar sauce as well as cocktail sauce. It came with French fries (which were on the softer side) and crispy, creamy coleslaw. Definitely coming back to the Blue Fish Kitchen!

Zucchini Sticks, Onion Rings, Mix Fried Platter

Over the weekend, I was craving some fried fish for an early lunch recently and stumbled upon this spot. I ordered the mixed seafood platter along with a side of onion rings and fried zucchini sticks to share. I would give the seafood platter a 5/5. Everything was fried nicely and the fish really hit the spot for me. The fried calamari were also pretty unique and had a great texture. The real standout for me though was the onion rings. They were lightly battered, perfectly crispy, and honestly some of the best onion rings I've had in a while. I'd definitely come back just for those alone. Unfortunately, the fried zucchini sticks were just not very good. Not only were they very mushy on the inside, they also carried a strange aftertaste that I didn't enjoy at all. Service-wise, the owner was very friendly and welcoming, and the food came out pretty quickly even though we were some of the first customers of the day. The ambiance is very casual since it's a food truck setup, but the fruit stand right next to it gives the place a nice local charm and makes it a pleasant spot for a quick lunch.

    Angel's Special

This place is great! I got the Angel's Special and the food portion was so big that it was seeping out the sides! It comes with fried fish filets, calamari, fried shrimp and fries, topped off with a humungous baja taco! Everything was fried to perfection and wasn't overly greasy either! The coleslaw side is a refreshing to have in between bites. Highly recommend!

Great customer service but the fish was sooooo bland I couldn't eat it . I don't think I'll return.

    The truck

Hands down the best grilled fish tacos on the peninsula. Fresh ingredients, generous portions--you get three large tacos that are both satisfying and light enough to feel like a healthy choice. The truck is parked along the marina in Redwood City, which makes the pickup spot even better. It's made to order, so if you walk up to the truck expect about 10 minutes. I usually order online and pick up, which makes it super easy. Fast, tasty, and consistent. This has become one of my go‑to staples for a casual meal that's healthy, flavorful, and always worth it. I kinda want some right now!

    Mix Fried Platter

I've had this food truck bookmarked for years! So glad that I finally got around to trying it. Parking in the Redwood City Marina area on a weekend was plentiful and the ambience really enhanced our experience: warm peninsula weather coupled with a great bay/water/pier view accompanied our meal perfectly! There wasn't a line and the food prep took about 10 minutes. Plenty of dockside public seating to be found and take in the views while we waited. We ordered the Mix Fried Platter and were pleasantly surprised by how much food was stacked in the box! Everything seemed to have been made fresh to order. By far, the winner of the platter had to be the shrimp. Lightly battered and decently sized/plump. The calamari was also pretty good as well! Wouldn't hesitate to come back if I'm in the area.

Heard so much about this place and would always miss the truck. Finally found it on Middlefield rd at the am pm in Redwood City on a weekday. The gentleman was very friendly and nice. Got the fish n chips and some churros since everyone has been raving about it. Fish n chips was ok for me. It lacked seasoning and wasn't flavorful. The fries on the other hand were really good and seasoned great. The churros were good, but I'm not a fan of cream filling especially in churros so that's the only thing I didn't like about the churros. The food wasn't memorable, but service was great.

If you're looking to eat some delicious fried seafood with a beautiful view of the bay, definitely check this spot out. It's a little out of the way unless you're working in the area or sailing your boat, but it's worth it. We came on a Sunday and spotted the yellow food truck along the water in parking lot. We ordered the mixed fried platter for $22, which came with 3 pc fried shrimp, calamari, and 2 of pc fried fish, french fries, coleslaw, and lots of sauces (ketchup, cocktail sauce, sriracha mayo). The food came out within 5-10 minutes and the service was friendly. Some of the seafood tasted more freshly fried than others. However, the shrimp was my favorite... lightly battered and piping hot. The fish was good, but not as fresh and flaky as I've had at other places. There are plenty of outdoor picnic tables and spots to eat. It was the perfect sunny day to sit, relax, and enjoy the view of the beautiful bay. It was the most relaxed I've felt in a while!

    Shrimp Quesadilla
    Elayna N.

4.5/5 so rounded up to 5. Visited this spot during PortFest. Very unassuming truck. There was a short line but service was super fast. We split a shrimp quesadilla (huge) and got a watermelon and pineapple agua Fresca. Shrimp quesadilla 5/5 The shrimp was perfectly seasoned and tasted so delicious with the melted cheese and green salsa. Wish there was slightly more shrimp though. I'll be back for another for sure as it was just very tasty! Agua frescas 4/5 These were tasty but $7 each made them pretty pricey. There's also no ice included so it doesn't taste as good and refreshing as it could be. Overall, I wanna try more things as their portions are huge and good is tasty!!

calamari and fries were amazing, generous serving, crispy outside and juicy inside calamari. Cole slaw was super tasty, flavorful enough yet light. Came with all of the sauces and lemon by default. Loved the $4 churro as well, fresh and piping hot vanilla sauce inside so be careful!

Found this hidden gem, wasn't real sure what to expect but the fish tacos were exceptional. The flavors were great, the fresh fish was awesome and the fact it was grilled and not fried, made it even better. As a chef it takes a lot to impress me and this one hit on all notes. Keep up the great work.

One day I drove past Capello's on my taco feast in RC. Took family here the next weekend and boy am I glad real Texas BBQ is close to home. All the other bbq places around the Bay Area tastes off. I like the restaurant setup: a mix of indoor and covered outdoor seating that feels open and inviting. The food, for me, has been mixed. On my first visit I had the brisket and remember it being very fatty -- not my thing, though I know preferences vary on that. This time I went with the chicken sandwich, which I really liked, along with the coleslaw, which was also very good. My biggest complaint is the price. Two sandwiches with coleslaw came to $50 before tip. Factor in the now-standard 18% "guilt tip" (for what's essentially counter service, with food brought out to your table), and you're looking at roughly $30 each for a sandwich and a small side. That's too steep. I get that costs have gone up across the board, but this feels like a stretch.

We thought the truck was by Target, but it is actually located in the Chevron gas station on El Camino, right before Woodside Ave. We ordered a shrimp taco, a fish taco and an aguachile verde to share. There were five of us altogether, so it took a bit of time for our food to be prepared. Unfortunately, there is no seating available. As soon as our order was ready, I started eating my fish taco and I was pretty impressed! The fish was nicely fried and they were very generous with the condiments, including cabbage, pico de gallo and a slice of fresh avocado. They even provided slices of radishes and cucumbers as well as limes. It reminded me of the tacos from La Cocina de la Abuela, a brick and mortar in downtown Redwood City that closed in 2021. They had the most amazing fried shrimp and fish tacos and these were just as good! The aguachile was also amazing! The shrimp were surprisingly large and served with avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers and thinly sliced red onions. It's perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice! I tried a shrimp from my friend, who ordered the camarones a la cucaracha. The shrimp are cooked in a garlicky, lime sauce and served over a bed of sliced cucumbers and onions to soak up all the tasty sauce. All the food we tried was delicious, and the portions are pretty generous. We discovered that you could call your order ahead, so we will do that the next time we go to save time. I can't wait to go back...there so many other dishes I wanna try!

The concept of having Korean food cooked in a robotic food truck is interesting to me. Since the food was catered, unfortunately I was unable to see the robots cooking in action, but fortunately was able to taste the final products. I was able to try the Wagyu galbi (short ribs), dak galbi (marinated chicken), Seoul food bowl (stir-fried pork belly and shrimp), and japchae, served with their corn salad, kimchi, and white rice. The Wagyu galbi was very flavorful with a good amount of vegetables; though I enjoyed the inclusion of lotus root, the veggies seemed like borderline filler to skimp out on meat. The dak galbi was also flavorful though spicy, and again the inclusion of rice cakes seemed like filler. The pork belly and shrimp were delicious, and I liked that the pieces of pork belly I had didn't have an overpowering amount of fat. The japchae was pretty standard and was nice to balance out the meat. I enjoyed the corn salad because it added a creamy component to my meal. The kimchi got lost in the mixture of food in my bowl and the rice was cooked perfectly by the robot. Overall, I enjoyed the food prepared by OLHSO Truck. Unfortunately, since the food was catered and already prepared when I arrived, I cannot comment on the service or wait times provided by the staff. I would consider ordering food from the truck if I am craving Korean fusion type of food and am too lazy to dine in at a local Korean restaurant.
