Filipino Gem in Redwood City Loved it as soon as I walked in. Great atmosphere, good selection, and attentive service. Satisfied my sweet tooth too! I'm Mexican, and I'm glad I have a solid Filipino spot near home to enjoy.

Loved this place! It's spacious and clean inside and has little snacks for purchase. I ordered the lechon kawali with garlic rice, pancit and lumpia. My friend had chicken BBQ. Everything we ordered was so good. Portions are generous and decently priced. And the staff were very friendly.

We visited Pamilya with a group of 8 after hearing about its quick-service Filipino food. The restaurant is super takeout friendly and the menu selections give you a good opportunity to try a variety of items that they serve. Some of my favorites were the sisig and the halo halo. I always find it difficult to find a place that serves good sisig since most places, it can be a bit too fatty/greasy but they did it right here! Definitely eat it with the garlic rice The halo halo was pretty solid too. They asked if we wanted to come back to grab it after enjoying our meal since it'd likely melt while we were eating. Nothing that made it extraordinary but also nothing that made it bad either haha The food here is a bit pricy... but portions are generous and service is great. Lots of seating indoors and a large parking lot in the back, too. I'd come back if I needed a quick and delicious meal!

I recently tried this modern Filipino spot in Redwood City that opened last April. The space has a simple interior with plenty of seating and a very straightforward, fast-casual ordering system. You just build your meal by choosing a bowl option, or one or two entrées and pay at the register. For your base, you get a choice of white rice, garlic fried rice, or pancit, paired with a wide variety of entrée options. One quirky detail: if you order the skewers, they give you one and a half rather than the standard one or two, which is something I haven't seen before. Looks like They also offer desserts, and I spotted them preparing what looked like halo-halo. Overall, the food is tasty, though the pricing feels a bit on the high side for 2 entree but portion is ok. Parkingbis on the back of yhe restaurant.

Newish restaurant in RWC, never expected there to ever be a Filipino food place here! The plates are quite pricey so that actually kept me away for a while. But I was able to come with my Filipino friend and although the plates are pricey, they give a LOT of food. Prob enough for two meals for light to normal people. Each plate gives you 2 scoops of rice or pancit. You can mix and match. Also a scoop of vegetables. I was able to try most of their entrees including the lechon kawali (refried when you order, had to ask for the sauce, but good!), Bicol express (satisfying coconut milk taste and good with garlic rice), inasal bbq skewer (was a bit dry but ok), kaldereta (good beef stew and good with rice), chicken adobo (not bad but it's also p simple to make and not the most flavorful here...), pork sisig (succulent pieces and prob one of the better items here), bangus sisig (note that this is a premium item. They add a $1.50 additional charge even though it's not noted on the menu. Very unprofessional and why I'm subtracting a star.) The plates also come with an appetizer. The lumpia Shanghai is a bit heavy on the skin but overall crunchy and satisfying. The empanadas are also heavy on the breading but not bad. Interior of the store is quite trendy and self serve utensils, water, sauces. would come back again if ever craving Filipino food and not looking to drive to San Bruno or Milpitas. It's not like Isla or other Filipino family style places, more for the individual diner. Not sure if they ever have the sinigang but would love to try it at some point.

Pork BBQ and Pork Sisig with mixed veggies and atchara.

I was on the way to SJ with my family and had a crave for filipino food. Found Pamilya on a Yelp search so we decided to try it out. Fairly easy to get to from the 101 and easy to find. Although the plaza has shared parking, there was plenty of parking in the front and back. When we walked in, there was no one in the restaurant but it had a really nice vibe. Felt like I was eating somewhere else and it felt pretty relaxing. We were greeted right away and was able to order our food as soon as we walked to the counter. We ordered 2 two item plates. The first was pork sisig and pork bbq. It comes with a hefty amount of rice which I chose for my base. You can select other base items like garlic rice and pancit and also do half/half base items as well. It also comes with mixed veggies and sides. I got the siu mai. For the second plate, I got pork sisig and pork tocino. For the side, I got lumpia. I was pretty excited to eat because everything looked and smelled good. First bite from my first plate, the rice was warm with cold spots and same with the pork sisig. The pork bbq was warm and so was the tocino. I expected everything to be hot, but I guess I can't expect much if they were on warmers. I was a bit disappointed. Although the food was good, it doesn't compare to other filipino restaurants in Daly City or Vallejo. I paid about $55 for both plates which was on the higher end of what I'm used to. I'd recommend trying Pamilya at least once if you're in the area. You may find something you like, but the vibe and the ambiance is really nice. The staff are super friendly and the girl working the counter always had a smile. You feel invited and relaxed when you're eating there.

I was in the area and saw the Filipino flag from across the street. I was interested and decided to see what this spot offered. The interior was bright, inviting, very clean. It was a Saturday afternoon and there weren't many patrons inside. Right off the bat, I noticed the menu focuses on plates with everything else à la carte. I believe one entree plates (rice, appetizer, veggies, entree) costs $19-$20? I think that's a bit expensive for the value you're receiving. The lumpia was good, nothing out of the ordinary. The chicken skewers were good, too. The beef kaldereta was served with more vegetables than meat. I don't think the steamed vegetables paired well with the meal, but definitely provided balance to the carb heavy plate. Overall, this was alright. For one plate and an extra entree on the side, this came out to $28. Very steep for what you get. I wasn't overly impressed but if there aren't other Filipino spots close to you, check it out!

Just ate here with my husband and a friend! We were really surprised with how big the portions were and super happy about them, especially for the price. Food tasted amazing and exactly what I'm looking for whenever I get homesick and crave something that reminds me of home. Also that staff was incredibly kind and overall gave off a very homey/family vibe while maintaining a modern atmosphere. Will be visiting regularly for sure

Really helpful and mindful staff, and delicious food! Loved the garlic rice and pancit as well as the Kare kare which had a bit of a unique flavor as far as the taste that's different than I've had before. I admire the modern twist though with the added mixed veggies and pickled jalapeños which also complemented the food well

    Fried Bangus Silog
    Shruti Y.

Another good takeout find! A hearty meal, packed neatly that it travels well, what more could I want?! I tried the fried bangus and was pleasantly surprised with this simple, yet elegant flavors. The veggies on the side were not the greatest. But I did appreciate the rice and glass noodles. I also tried the cornbread which was underwhelming mostly coz it was cold and dry. I'm definitely returning for another lunch entree! With a packet of chili sauce for an added zing.

Pamilya has a great vibe inside and you wouldn't know it based on its location next to a Subway Sandwich. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which always makes an impact. The food was solid overall, with the garlic rice and lechon being the standouts for me. While it didn't quite hit the same level as the Filipino food in Daly City, for Redwood City, it definitely hits the spot and is worth checking out.

    Camille M.

First time ordering from here. I was glad to know there was a new Filipino restaurant in Redwood City (as a Filipina) and I wanted to check it out! Food: yummy . I wish the bangus silog came with vinegar (my delivery order didn't come with it) though. I was supposed to get 3 veggie lumpias but it came with only 2. DoorDash gave me credit for the issue so I was okay. The delivery was faster than anticipated so that was good! Ambiance: I have not gone inside so I can't say my opinion. I'll order from here again, hope there's no issues next time!

We wanted papusas and Comalito came up with spectacular reviews and was open (at time of writing,…read morethey open Fri-Sun)! Food and service were great. Food ordered: Yucca fries on the house! 1. Plantano Fritas (4/5) I love a plantains and these were delicious and less oily than other which I appreciate! Personal preference is a I prefer a little more sweetly caramelized plantains, but I did really enjoy this. The dish comes with a white creamy sauce and a refried bean dip - both yummy and not overpowering in flavor. Papusas: Lots of flavors to choose from! And in general, for all the papusas, the papusa batter is wonderful and the porportion of filling to papusa is perfect. 2a. Calabaza Papusa - mixed cheese + zuchinni (4/5) This was the most cheesey papusa, where the cheese was the heavy lifter. I enjoyed it and every bite had a nice cheese pull too it. I would have liked to see a little more zucchini green, and for it to add to the textures. 2b. Frijol y Queso Papusa - mixed cheese + refried beans (5/5) My favorite! Can't go wrong with a bean and cheese papusa and this was so so good. I recommend this classic pairing of flavors anywhere. I was thinking about this papusa for days. 2c. Chicken Papusa - mixed cheese + chicken (5/5) This was also really good. the chicken is mixed in with the cheese, so every bite has both, which was nice. There was also a lovely seasoning which balanced all the flavors beautifully. 3. Churros: This usually comes with vanilla ice cream, and the server warned us they didn't have any in stock. We were fine with that because we love churros. When we were complete with our papusas, they served us our churros and surprised with apple slices instead of ice cream which was a lovely touch. Parking: There is no designated parking lot that we have found, but the public 2 hour parking lot 2 blocks over on Second Ave! Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at Comalito. The hardest hurdle is parking, but once you find the public parking lot a couple of blocks over, it was easy to find and gives you a little exercise before you eat! Papusas were all delicious and there is a plenty of seating room. Keep in mind they are open Friday-Sunday only at time of writing.

I also got a side order of carne asada. All the food was good. Everything was full of flavor. The carne asada was tender. The pupusas had the perfect mix beans and cheese, with the masa being light and fluffy. The casamiento with a great mix of rice and beans. The only negative was the curtido. It was ok. Somewhat soggy and not very crisp. Also, lacked any flavor. It's a small thing, but otherwise the dinner was 5 stars.

There is shaded outdoor seating and indoor seating, but this place fills up fast. Do not show up late and expect the universe to hand you a table. The universe has other appointments. The beer selection is very good. We got there around 6 PM before the Austria vs. Jordan World Cup match, and the stouts were already sold out. That tells you two things: people know what they are doing here, and you may need to move with purpose. Order the huge 20 oz glass if you want to have fun. It is not subtle. It announces itself. Food-wise, the combination appetizer is a strong move for a group of three or four. It comes with hummus, crushed eggplant, olives, a cucumber-yogurt-style dip, and other Mediterranean support staff. For the main dish, I recommend the veal knockwurst with fries. It was simple, filling, and did its job without trying to explain itself. The ordering system is where things get a little loose. Seating is basically self-directed, which means the bold inherit the tables. The line to order can feel scattered, although the menu is clearly posted above the cashier. You order, pay, receive one of those coaster number things, then sit down and trust that civilization will continue. To their credit, the staff found us with the beer and food without incident. There were TVs everywhere showing Argentina vs. Algeria, and with the international crowd in the room, the energy was like getting electrocuted by friendly aliens experimenting on how to make adrenaline surges in the body lightning fast. Loud, lively, and just the right amount of chaotic. Overall, I would give Das Bierhauz a 4 out of 5. I would not want to be here when it is absolutely packed, mostly because the queue system could become chaotic like a school of fish in a class on how to properly get into an auto accident. That said, the staff were reliable, the food was good, the beer was strong, and the location is hard to beat before a game.

We chose to sit in the front sidewalk patio which was cold and windy not an alternate choice we will need to make again. We ended up sitting across from two loud, self-centered, immature, foul-mouthed college grad girls bragging about studying for their masters attempting to appear cultured were distracting everyone on that patio. After we placed our order, we finished up the app and hubbs was furious they forgot about his glass of pinot which arrived without an apology for the delay preceding our plate arrivals. I had the ny strip steak on the breakfast menu which came out perfectly med-well & added cilantro rice which was good although a little sticky not fluffy. Hubbs had the salmon which looked amazing and he enjoyed the mango sauce--the dish just didn't fill him up. Good thing we ordered fresh chips, salsa& guac.--which was very well prepared; the freshest guac I've ever had. It had fresh chopped tomatoes & green chiles all perfectly combined. Our wait person/food server made up for the less than stellar first impression of the host. And the food was flavorful. The ambiance was ruined by the diners across from us and the forgetfulness of taking our orders timely and serving the wine after the appetizer couldn't bring us back from what started out as negative experience. There are many restaurants up & down the bay that we aren't bothered. This wasn't the best reception nor dining experience and we are moving on. We hope it's a lesson and possibly could've just been a bad day for the crew, and unfortunately there is so much competition out there. We highly recommend the food for its freshness and flavor; recommend the salmon dish for its flavor and balance but not for its portion size. And wish this place nothing but the best and to improve where they dropped the ball.
