You know it's going to be great when there is a line waiting to get in when you arrive and even when you leave. The food is fresh and tasty. Corned beef hash is more like pieces of delicious corned beef with yummy home fried potatoes with peppers and onions. So good and don't get me started on the flaky soft biscuits with amazing peach butter. We took some to go! My friend had the burrito and my other friend got the kings stack with bananas and peanut butter. There was nothing left on their plates. It's hidden away from the tourist area down Dr. Martin Luther Blvd about .7 mile from King Street and the Lender Museum. Worth the walk and hands down the best breakfast in St. Augustine. Enjoyed breakfast at the blue hen so much that we went back again the next day! I will note that on the weekends this place is very busy- we waited 45 minutes for a table on Saturday and 55 on Sunday (although incorrectly quote 25). There are not many tables inside, so the turnover can be slow but they do get the food out very fast. We very much enjoyed having a coffee outside while waiting for our table. Service was impeccable on day 1, we were shocked at how quickly our food came out. We ordered the Zada Jane's Stack ($12) and the Corned Beef Hash ($14). We were frankly shocked at the value and the large portions for the price. The biscuits with peach butter were to die for, eggs well cooked and home fries crispy. After the wait, it was probably only 30 minutes from the time we sat down until we were ready to pay the bill. Unfortunately, the service wasn't quite as good on day 2. If we hadn't known how good the food was, we probably would've left after the host confidently reassured us it would be a 25-30 minute wait and was wrong by nearly 30 minutes. Then, as we were seated our waitress pointed at our coffee cups and said "you didn't pay for that did you" which was an uncomfortable tone to start the meal off with, since we knew from the day before that the coffee would be included in the check at the end of the meal. We actually loved the meals we had the day before so much that we ordered the same thing again and it was just as good. If you're going to st Augustine, highly recommend stopping here at least once. Food was phenomenal, just be prepared for a wait. And St. Augustine is pretty small, so I'd recommended walking if you can because the parking is minimal. read more

On our recent family trip we went back to this restaurant as my husband and I remember how much we loved it back in 2014, the location had change but the food is still as good as we remembered! My husband had the breakfast burrito with sauce, cheese and scallions on top, it was love at first bite. I had the southern omelette, and not only was it healthy, it was also flavorful! I saw that this was one of the top brunch places in St. Augustine and was not disappointed. It's located on the outskirts of downtown St. Augustine so you will have to find local street parking and walk about 5 minutes to a large blue building. The Sunday brunch wait is fairly long ~40 mins for a table of 4 due to the limited amount of seating they have inside the restaurant. However, if you wanted to spend a couple of bucks, you can enjoy some mimosas and cups of joe as you wait. As soon as you enter, you're quickly immersed into the typical southern diner culture with leather seating, checkered tablecloths, and the aroma of grease frying up delicious goodies. The menu is pretty straight forward with one side for breakfast which is served all day and the flip side with lunch entrees. There is also a chalkboard on the back wall which lists a number of locally brewed Florida beers that they serve for about $4-$6. We ended up ordering the blue crab quiche and the Yard Bird. Both dishes were served hot and fresh as soon as they arrived to the table. The quiche was fluffy and had large chunks of crab meat with a side of seasoned home fries. It also came with a huge biscuit and peach butter that really hits the spot with the buttery and sweet flavor combination. The yard bird was definitely my favorite of the two dishes because of the complexity of flavors from the crispy breaded chicken topped with a delicious gravy on top of creamy grits with a side of juicy collard greens. Be sure to use the Datil hot sauce they have on the table! It's sweet and spicy, which adds a pleasant kick to every bite. Not so sure if I'd wait the same 40 minutes at 10 am but definitely a must try if you have the time! read more

Oh man...this is southern breakfast as good as it gets. Buried in the heart of Lincolnville, this joint does not shy away from the deep south mojo that the area oozes. The menu is a blend of that influence with a touch of Hispanic cooking and plenty of local influence. I think that means most things are fried and I'm more than OK with that. Everything we had was prepared flawlessly, delivered quickly and piping hot. It was as if someone's southern momma was carefully feeding all her children with great love. Very cute breakfast place and very busy. It was about a 45 minute wait. With that, depending on how busy it is it may be hard to find parking. There are places to sit as you wait but one area is facing tables where people are eating. That was somewhat awkward when you're eating and the people waiting are commenting on your food right next to you as if you can't hear them. But then again, I don't blame them.. they have no where else to look because they're seated right near and facing people eating. The food was very good. Our waitress was okay but somewhat awkward and not very friendly. We also specifically asked (twice) for something to be brought out at the end when we were finished with our meal and yet it was the first item to be brought out. So, I'm not sure where the miscommunication was there. Based on food and pricing I would give this 5 stars, but the waitress could go back to charm school when dealing with customers. read more

I truly do not understand the hype for this place. I have eaten breakfast here several times, as my husband and I visit St. Augustine often. The only thing I have enjoyed was the chicken biscuits. The other two occasions were a big fail. I tried the sweet potato hash (forget the name) and the sweet potatoes were COMPLETELY raw and uncooked/hard. How does that even happen? The next time I tried the burrito. It was filled with way too many UNCOOKED/hard, black beans...and barely any eggs or sausage, which I paid extra for. Maybe it has something to do with the last two times being to go orders? However, that shouldn't matter. Food should still be prepared properly. We waited a little under 45 minutes for a table for 3 and sipped on some refreshing watermelon lime mimosas. They have an extensive breakfast menu with something for everyone. I ended up going with the Yard Bird ($12), two pieces of buttermilk fried chicken served with grits, caramelized vidalia onion gravy, scallions, and collard greens (I substituted the greens for a warm biscuit which came with in house peach butter and recommend the same if you love biscuits like I do!). This dish was OUTSTANDING. I'm not usually the hugest fan of grits, but these were cheesy and delicious! The flavors complemented each other so well. This cafe was a nice find, of course a mostly egg joint they did have pumpkin spiced pancakes(which may or may not be a seasonal thing so something to consider) and a peanut butter French toast but I enjoyed the Corn beef hash which was awesome. My dear friend took me here for breakfast Wednesday morning and I am so pleased she did. There were five woman or so in the front busting their asses to do a great job, and they certainly did. We were down in St. Augustine visiting relatives and they had a gift card for this restaurant. We found the place, and immediate put our name on the list. Then we noticed the $5 pineapple and lime mimosas. They were served in a pint glass which was curious. However, they were filled with Champaign and tasted amazing. We each had 2 even before being seated and then another while eating our meal. The breakfast ended at 11am, which was a bummer as in really wanted pancakes and even brought a special syrup (from a certain farm in VT I always order from).
