This was such a good restaurant. The food was amazing- definitely the best meal I had all week. I'm a vegetarian so it is difficult to find good vegetarian options in the Outer Banks. Quite simply the best meal I had the pleasure of eating while vacationing in the Outer Banks. We waited about an hour before being seated, but that was no matter because there are plenty of cool (if touristy) shops near here. Once seated, an amuse bouche of mashed chick peas with citrus & herbs on a water cracker was brought to the table. A refreshing bite with excellent texture. Our appetizer - Pork belly over blue cheese cole slaw & green tomatoes. Fatty, well seasoned pork matches perfectly with the creamy slaw & the sour tomatoes. Soup course: She-crab soup - a really mildly fishy soup with notes of sherry & chili pepper. Quite a delicious version of a soup that did not impress me in previous versions. Dinner: A perfectly cooked tuna steak over white beans & chorizo and topped with a cooked cabbage. All of the components married perfectly - the sweet, succulent tuna, the salty & spicy chorizo, the firm texture of the white beans, and the tomato broth that brought it all together. A perfectly delicious entree. I also had a chance to try the fried catfish & crab cakes. Both were very good as well. Dessert: Pecan pie with bourbon ice cream and Key Lime Pie. While neither dessert can be considered light, both were easily devoured after our large meal. Pecan pie was delightfully sweet with slight bitter balance given by bourbon ice cream. The Key Lime pie was everything it should be - tart, sweet, & creamy on an excellent cookie like graham crust. A truly perfect meal. A must visit if you are ever in the Outer Banks. read more

The food is great but prices are high. The secret here is the outside bar that has a great view of the sound and sunset. There is no food service and a much more limited wine and drink menu but you'll enjoy. Blue Point has been around for a number of years and as they have gotten fame their prices have gone up a lot. We still stop by here just because of all the memories. The inside seating, outdoor seating, and bar area are really top class. Service can be variable - we've been here at times when service is perfect and then at times service is not very good. This time we had a wonderful bar tender. I suspect as the season winds down the top servers leave. We are here just after the busy summer season - so lot fewer visitors. We prefer this as the restaurants are not busy. The risk is always the weather which can turn nasty. This year all good. Close by shops to enjoy. There is a 1 mile boardwalk that takes you around to other shops while next to sound. read more

First time dining here, we made reservations and were really looking forward to our meal! The ambiance outside is killer. The music and lighting are really spot on. The food on the other hand was wildly disappointing. We got the burrata and our mouths hurt after the first bite. So salty. It seriously tasted like they had soaked everything in the ocean prior to serving it to us. Our entrees could have used some of the salt used in the burrata. I ordered the flounder, the special of the night. I was told it was be pan fried, however it came out with no crisp on it at all. It was cooked very well, but over all lacked any flavor. It needed a lot of seasoning. Even a little lemon would have done it favors. We also got the crab cakes. Didn't blow my mind by any means, but there was quite a bit of crab in them. Really the worst part about this though, is the price. You pay $120 for a meal you expect it to at least decent. I would have much rather gone down the street and orders a 5 guys burger, enjoyed it a lot more, and saved $110. read more

In imaginary internet points, this place gets a 5/5! Service was impeccable. For an appetizer, we had the peach salad with candied pecans and fried green tomatoes. The peaches were great, would definitely recommend. A bread basket containing the BEST cornbread I've ever had was an added bonus. Everything looked good as a main course, but we finally settled on the crab cakes and scallops for our entree and we were not disappointed! This restaurant was the best we ate at while in duck. It has amazing views from the outdoor patio. The absolute best service of any restaurant we visited and amazing food. Like I said previously +5 stars, 1000 gold coins, upvote, etc.. Rating this place was difficult. I'm not one to rate restaurants entirely by the quality of the service, but if I was going by service alone, The Blue Point would get a solid two stars. Maybe it's because I'm from California and I'm not used to the slow pace on the Outer Banks, but I expect to have a waiter at least stop by once in the first 20 minutes after I've been seated. To his credit, our server was very hospitable when he finally arrived. But don't even get me started on the sloth-like and, frankly, fairly rude (both on the phone when we made our reservation, and in person) host. The food, however, was a different story. Very good. Ranks up there on the list of the best seafood I've had. My wife and I had the jumbo crab cakes and the market fish of the day (we ate there months ago and I've forgotten exactly what kind of fish it was--but you ichthyologists can ID it from the photo I've posted). Crab cakes were tasty and crab-filled, but didn't hold together very well. The fish of the day was superbly cooked and melted with each bite. It's preparation, excellent, with very fresh vegetables that left a crisp, clean taste in my mouth. For dessert, superb pecan pie--something my wife had never eaten before and immediately fell in love with. Overall, the experience started off rocky but turned out to be pretty enjoyable. Definitely recommend making a reservation as it obviously is a popular place. Not really a place I'd bring kids, get a babysitter and go hang out with your friends for a great meal! Several people recommended that we try Blue Point, so for my birthday we made a reservation before sunset. We came early and had a drink at the back bar, overlooking the sound. The view was awesome and there was a very pleasant singer and guitar player performing. Our table was ready on time and we were promptly seated. Our server explained the specials, but was clearly distracted (I assume he had a lot of tables to serve). We ordered a bottle of wine and the pork belly appetizer special (super delicious) to share and a wedge salad. My partner ordered the crab cakes that arrived quickly. They were great (best she had during our weeklong trip) accompanied by a wonderful sauce. I ordered the tuna special. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a very nice complement. Lastly, we ordered the key lime pie for dessert, with a candle (certainly signaling a special occasion). It came and agin was great (and the raspberry sauce was the perfect compliment). So, food was a 5 star. But, the server either had too many tables or had something else going on and was adequate. I would definitely go back but would hope for a different server. read more

Goodness what a difference a year makes!! Dined here two nights ago while on vacation, and was impressed with flavors, quality of food, and professionalism of staff. We ordered a motley if appetizers which were FANTASTIC and on the must-have list: -- soft shell crab appetizer -- She Crab Soup -- Ribs -- Shrimp Ceviche Entrees were all as equally delicious: -- Scallops -- Catfish (Our 9 year old had half-order of Scallops, and the 5 year old had pasta with shrimp). There wasn't a morsel left on the table. This is probably as good as food gets in the Outer Banks. We ordered the crab dip special - lots of crab meat and creamy- and the mixed green salad - light and unique with Muscat grapes, spiced pumpkin seeds and apple cider dressing for starters. For entrees the sautéed lump crab meat is one of the most unique and enjoyable dishes we've ever had. The amount and size of meat speaks for itself but all the accompaniments - cornbread soufflé, peas and ham - are great accents to the flavor. The special pan fried flounder wasn't our favorite, maybe because it paled significantly in the shadow of the crab meat entree. Lastly for dessert, we couldn't decide between the pecan pie or the key lime pie. Without hesitation, the waitress recommended the pecan pie. Served warm with a crusted caramelized top, buttered caramel and a scoop of ice cream. It's chewy and fluffy at the same time and assaults your taste buds with the best of butter and sugar. Two or three bites is enough but even when full, you can't stop eating it. read more

The burrata was a great starter and very nice presentation. I went with the pork chop and Mac and cheese for my main course. It was a very large portion and despite being thick cooked to perfection. The only downside in the food category was the pecan pie which I would rate average. The thing that kept me giving 5 stars was that at this price point I would expect slightly better service. Our waiter was very friendly and prompt. However, he only poured the first glass of wine from the bottle we ordered. Even once our glasses were empty he never refilled. There was a bus boy that kept dirty dishes cleaned; however, he wouldn't wipe down the table after removing the dishes. We chose Blue Point for Bastille Day this year because my mother is French and I wanted to spoil her. It was perfect! Our server was Lesley and she was amazing- accommodating and great with recommendations. We sat outside and the atmosphere is so pleasant - the tuna was the very best I've ever had as was the gazpacho and everything else we ordered. Every year we get out to our house in Corolla, I can't wait to go to Blue Point it was my favorite restaurant in the OBX. They sat us outside and it was COLD. Since I had surgery in January 2020, I don't tolerate the cold well. They promised heaters and there were none. The halibut was so tough it was inedible. Salad with watermelon was good. read more

Great outside bar and view of the sun set. Alex was our server I believe. She was knowledgeable and friendly. Offered great suggestions and as a bartender and server myself, I really appreciate people who know what they are talking about!!! Fantastic outdoor bar. We enjoyed meeting friends there for drinks & ended up staying for sunset. If you order a specialty drink it will be served in a special glass. Other drinks are served in plastic cups which sort spoiled the ambience. We ordered the Southern dips appetizer which was decent although I doubt we would order it again. We also ordered the soba noodles which had a GREAT flavor but were very disappointing-- about 20 cents worth of noodles which were extremely overpriced. The pecan pie was FANTASTIC. All the staff were accommodating and made our time great- and were conscious with covid and distances. A storm blew through and the staff were amazing about taking care of water and closing the area to prevent wind and rain. Our bar staff John and Christian were so fun and gave great recommendations. Wow. There are no other words that can capture how spectacular something is with just three letters. My lady and I came here the other night for dinner and a few cocktails. We were silly enough to show up without making a reservation and were expecting to wait about 45 minutes. This would not have been a problem, but a party in front of us could not wait so the hostess face us there spot and we sat within 5 minutes. So tip number 1: make a reservation. We sat on what looked like a closed in porch section and got a great view of the sunset. We started with a few cocktails and appetizers. The she-crab soup was good as was the shrimp and grits with Tabasco butter. Not the best we have had but still executed flawlessly. The BP old fashioned was amazing! So tip 2: even if you aren't a fan of whisky beverages, get a BP old fashioned. For dinner we had a yellowfin tuna special and a cornmeal gnocchi dish. My tuna was cooked to a perfect rare and served on a bed of charred asparagus and local peas and dressed in a white balsamic sauce. It was great! However, we both agreed that the gnocchi dish was once of the best dishes we had ever had. The most tender cornmeal pasta balls served alongside a confit duck leg, more seasonal veggies, morel mushrooms all gently placed in a puddle of brown butter sauce. It was superb! Tip 3: forget about hush puppies, cornmeal gnocchi is where it is at. The only downside to the meal is that we were pretty stuffed when the dessert menu arrived. We split an affogato (espresso served over house made ice cream). The house made ice cream and caramel were perfect, and made up for the disappointing espresso. Tip 4: save room for pecan pie and skip coffee. Considering how great the meal was the price was not bad. I have paid much more for much less quality. We will definitely be back! read more

We had tried to get here last year when we were on vacation because we had heard only good things. They were and are always booked, but if you come early you can get a seat. The restaurant was excessively warm, which already made it a bit miserable. The drinks were pretty good, but overpriced. Our kids hated their Mac and cheese (which we agreed-tasteless and strange kind of loaf thing). The pork chop was excellent, but everything else we had at the table was just ok at best. It was terribly disappointing because we expected greatness after trying to get in for so long and it was just meh. read more

This place was interesting I don't really know how else to describe it our appetizers were really good but our meals were alright. I can't say that out of the seven people at my table one person thought that their meal was fabulous I think that the meals were a little over the top maybe they can be a little more simple. I think that a lot of people really do like the meat dish and no one at my table got that but that's what I've heard in the past I got the scallops which were really good I just didn't love the quinoa on the bottom it was a little too wet for me my friend got it too and she felt the same. This place is really nice and it has a cool vibe to it if you're looking for somewhere fancy to go and to show off duck in a more fancy way then just a bathing suit and a cool beach bar and I would go here. It was also pouring rain when we went and we couldn't sit outside so maybe the outside experience is better. There is nothing bad about this place I just probably won't go here again. read more

They had a very southern style to their food which is great for the location and still had some vegetarian options that were perfect for the menu.
