She was warm, attentive, and took great care of me throughout the evening. I ordered "That Cucumber Drink," and it was absolutely delicious--fresh, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice from the Tajín rim. I also had the Texican Rolls, and they were outstanding. What I appreciated most was the atmosphere. The crowd was a great mix of people--some dressed casually, others coming from work in suits, and a few dressed up for a night out. Everyone seemed comfortable, and the vibe was relaxed, friendly, and inviting. It felt like the kind of neighborhood place where regulars know each other, but newcomers are welcomed too.

I was meeting a friend for lunch and she suggested Ember & Green. We really couldn't decide what to order, so we decided to order a few things and share them. We started off with the Persian Cucumber Sald. It had Persian cucumbers, heirloom cherry tomatoes, red onions, and Kalamata olives with oil and lemon dressing and topped with parsley and feta cheese. Let me tell you, thats lemon dressing was delicious! It went so well with the cucumbers. Next we ordered Blackened salmon with lemon butter and avocado salsa, served with charred broccolini, roasted carrots and potatoes on a bed of cilantro green pea quinoa. I'm really not a huge fan of salmon, but I'm trying to like it more by trying it different ways. The spices that they put on the salmon were really good, not too spicy, but also, not bland. It was also cooked perfectly. Oh, and that lemon butter... that lemon butter made the meal if you ask me. It was so good. So good in fact, I had to try and make salmon with lemon butter at him the very next week. Mine didn't come out as good as Ember & Greens, but it was decent. That just means that I need to leave the cooking to the professional. For dessert we decided to share the Skillet Cookie. Its a house made chocolate chip cookie baked in a cast iron skillet and topped with Amy's Mexican Vanilla Ice Cream and chocolate sauce. This was the only thing that we ordered that was a nope. I dont know what happened, but it didn't seem like it was cooked at all in the middle. We took a few bites, that was all we could eat of it. All and all, it was a good experience and I will go back. I'll just skip dessert next time.

On my most recent visit, others in my group noticed and commented on the same thing without any prompting from me. Since they had never been before, it confirmed that it wasn't just my perception. One small interaction captured the overall tone. We asked whether they happened to have a birthday candle, and an employee responded in an annoyed tone by pointing to the candle on our table which, realistically, no one would put on a birthday dessert. We completely understood that they might not have one; it wasn't an unreasonable expectation or request. A simple, friendly response like, "Unfortunately, we don't, but we do have some delicious desserts," would have been perfectly fine. It wasn't the answer that bothered us. it was the way we were made to feel for asking. It may seem like a small interaction, but great hospitality is built on small moments. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting, but unfortunately, the service doesn't reflect that same feeling. People return to places where they feel welcomed and appreciated, especially in a city like Houston with so many wonderful food and wine options. The calamari was good, but the texture was off. We ordered short rib risotto and pacific snapper with couscous. The short rib risotto was good. The snapper was delicious with a nice crust on the outside. The couscous was overcooked and needed salt. We ended our meal with a chocolate cake and apple pie. Both were luke warm and it seemed like they just rushed it out of the kitchen . Both could have been so much better if they were served warm/hot. Overall good place.

The pizza was exceptional with a perfectly crisp, flavorful crust and fresh, and high-quality ingredients. It was a unique and flavorful sauce that brought all the flavors together nicely; really taking it over the top. The wine selection was excellent, with plenty of great options to complement the food. They have quite literally an entire novel on just their wine selections!
