I was looking forward to Mother's Day music video bingo. Came out with 8 of my family so we had two tables. Only four of the eight were drinking. One table total was $175 the other was $135. Not sure how that happened. I've been to Ruth chris and it was cheaper. Lesson learned check you itemized bill before you pay. Good time not sure it was $300 worth it. read more

We attended the Led Zeppagain concert last night. We saw this band probably 3 years ago at The Boardwalk and as soon as I saw tickets go on sale, I bought tickets for a table with 4 seats, slightly in front of and to the left of the stage. It's important to understand, that there aren't tons of tables with chairs all over this venue and if you think you'll want to sit down for this (roughly 3-hour concert) you better make sure you reserve a table. With the service charge, the tickets were $38.50 each. We showed up just minutes before the show started and I was afraid they may have given our table away but was pleasantly surprised to see that wasn't the case. Our waitress was very attentive and checked in on us, but didn't bother us while we enjoyed the show. Bravo for walking that fine line between those two options. The band was great (as usual) and every staff member made the experience so enjoyable that we'll continue to frequent this venue for live music. And I do LOVE all the signed guitars hanging throughout the venue. It really adds to the rock setting. While waiting for the women to use the restroom, I saw the owner and thanked him for a great experience. He spoke to me like an old friend, and he was as excited about the show as we all were. It's very refreshing to see a business owner that is able to harvest the fruits of his labor. Kudos! read more

Headed to the Boardwalk for the Pat Travers Band on Wednesday 1/28. We saw Michael Shanker here years ago. I gotta say. I love this place. What a great small venue. 3 bands, all sounded great. Easy parking across the street. Beers not over priced. But the staff. That's the best part! Everyone was so friendly and professional. You can tell they've their jobs. From the door guy, to the gal that checked us in. To all the bartenders, sorry I can't remember all your names, but 1 individual in particular, Ben, was so nice. He was servicing tables and did a wonderful job. Your business is only as good as the people you have working there, and this business is doing something right!! Thanks to everyone. Sunday Music Bingo A++++ Service C Food B Bottomless mimosas F Love the bingo, had such a fun time. We arrived early as instructed to get a table together at 10AM, no one came to our table for almost an hour. I understand the event doesn't start until 11, but we're sitting willing to spend money in the meantime ... they had one server for the whole place for some reason despite many other employees loitering around. The server insisted we order our food immediately since we were doing bottomless mimosas, so we complied. And then we closed out as requested as well, never seeing that server again (we were there 10-2) The mimosas left much to be desired, theyre mixed behind the counter in a large carafe and the prosecco/OJ ratio was very inconsistent. You receive a tiny plastic champagne flute that probably holds 5 Oz. We went stretches of 20 min without refills when they stated more was being made. We received glasses of only OJ TWICE. When they do refill your glass they touch the rim of your flute to the carafe essentially contaminating your glass with everyone else's in the place. I know this is a new event, and the place was packed... but more of a reason to recalibrate and really consider how to do it right. Carafes should be left on the table, ratios consistent, more servers per section perhaps. read more

Came in for "You Front the Band" night. Fun. Real community of friends who all seem to be good long time pals. About 10 different singers. Some really good ones. Clean bar. Nice vibe room. Dozens and dozens of electric guitars on the walls and ceiling. Three in my party. We were made to feel welcome by everyone. We ate food. We drank fancy cocktails. Well worth the price of admission, which is free. read more

I paid $70 to get in and an additional $20 for eight tiny wings. I don't mind paying for great food, but this entree was disappointing. I would not recommend this restaurant if you want a satisfying meal. Yes Sara, I paid $20, including a tip, for a small eight-wing entree. read more

Walt reporting for Walt's Adventures and this night I find myself in Orangevale, California at The Boardwalk. This tavern seems to have somewhat limited parking but very good food. Not pictured were the cheeseburgers and fries or tots that we consumed. The menu was more than "bar food" for they offer a good selection of food to meet any appetites. The customer service was outstanding and the recommendation is to arrive and depart via driver and to arrive early. No doubt the seating will usually fill quickly for any venue. What awaits you will be a full bar at good prices. If you love music, good eats and good energy, then seek out The Boardwalk. read more

Then, like angels sent from afar, the people who own Palm Tree Brewing came down and gave it the TLC it desperately needed, and once again, The Boardwalk has received new life. My wife and I stopped by for a band showcase on January 30th. The lead guitarist for Front Seat 58 was my wife's 5th grade student! My wife uses a wheelchair now so we arrived early to get a seat. We asked the ladies at the front for the best place to sit to be out of the way and not impact the flow of traffic. We were escorted by one of the ladies to a great table near the sound board. She told us she would have a server come to us rather than have us go to the bar to order food due to my wife's mobility issues. Throughout the night she would drop by to check in on us to see how we were doing even though the bar was quite busy. At the end of the evening as we were leaving she came by to see how we enjoyed our night. We told her we had a wonderful time and thanked her for taking her time to check in on us and to make us feel so welcome. We found out she is the event planner for the club. My wife and I were incredibly impressed with her friendliness as well as our server Liz. We will absolutely be back and recommend The Boardwalk to our friends and family. Service was bad, food was served in to go boxes and the food was expensive and very poor quality, $16.00 for very deep fried calamari, burnt, nachos $14.00 and the chips were stale, tables wobbled and spilled drinks, music was good, A/C not big enough to cool the house down, front of the house employees yelled at us to stop as we enter and startled our group, waiter tried to over charge us. read more

I've been to this venue a few times, and also saw the Class of 85. The band is absolutely amazing and this venue is the perfect blend of family friendly fun. The owner and his staff are very kind and welcoming to all their patrons and work very hard to create a safe, and warm environment for adults and families alike. Great Friday lunch spot! Husband and I are OV locals and finally stopped in for lunch. Waitress happily greeted us and got our drinks order underway. Fun and tasty list of cocktails. Even a list of drinks that proceeds support local charities. Food wise - pork belly sandwich and chicken sandwich were delicious and freshly made. Onion rings and tots were hot and crispy. First and foremost, the bartenders and bar backs we interacted with on the reopening night were absolutely stellar! Even while they managed (probably illegal) over-crowding and the new owner/his friends consistently being behind the bar. Absolute 5 stars for anyone behind the bar last Friday night! Y'all killed it! Everything else deserves a 1-star: 1. We bought reserved tickets to ensure that we had a table. Sorry, I'm not pretentious but I'm getting older and my lower back doesn't play nice as I approach 40. THAT BEING SAID, we were given VIP bracelets but the owner's friends took over one entire side of the VIP/table section and told us to leave when we tried to find a seat/table. We tried to find seats on the other side of GA, but those were all spoken for, as well. There was zero ticket regulation between GA and reserved seating. Asking security/the front check in for just some guidance ended up with no resolution, as well. 2. Did I mention the new owner and his friends? Because the new owner's friends... holy buckets. Just the rudest, narcissistic, entitled and inconsiderate group of people I've ever met in my life. They took over the venue like they were owed to everything within the building walls; including ripping nostalgia pieces off of the actual walls. 3. The owner's partners were clearly annoyed with the entire situation and untrained on their internal systems. They overwhelmed the staff by leaning on them because, as management, they were too incompetent to navigate their own ordering tools and processes. On that note, as management, HOW is it possible to treat your staff so poorly? 4. I heard multiple racist comments from the owner's party. I will not support a business that harbors, condones, supports or does not adamantly fight against these types of comments or sentiments. The majority of people at the opening night were there to support the bands and enjoy a care-free environment, where we could all celebrate the bands who were performing. The new ownership of The Boardwalk should be absolutely ashamed. This venue was previously a solid place for up and coming bands to make a stop and solidly promote themselves. Now it just seems like a crappy overhaul with no heart and a shitty Hawaii vibe. Don't waste your time here, whether you're a touring band or a patron; drinks are affordable but their integrity is cheaper. read more

My partner and I bought tickets for the Led Zeppagain show, then later found out it was standing room only because there were only six disabled seats at the venue and they were all sold out. I then asked if I could have a seat placed in front of the stage & so I wouldn't be stuck behind a standing crowd, (as I'm not able to stand for the show) they said I could not because they'd have to let other people start doing that, I then asked if I could bring in my mobility scooter to sit in front of the stage and just let people stand around me while I'm up front in a spot where I could see and they said they didn't have space for that because there would be 400 people there. Then when I politely made a complaint and asked for her to relay my complaint to the managers I was argued with instead of reassured. I was just asking if maybe she'd let them know more space was needed for the disabled and the venue needed to be more disabled friendly towards wheelchairs and scooters and her argument was "we are disabled friendly we just sold out of the seats" but according to her words earlier in the conversation, literally there were only six available seats to be sold for a crowd of almost 400 people. Only six of us were allowed to be disabled and my mobility scooter wasn't able to go into their venue. They at least said we could have the money back for my ticket (we haven't dealt with the customer service on that point yet. I will do an update if that goes awry) but now my partner gets to go and I'm stuck at home. There were 2 solid viable options to help me out so I could see the show and I was turned down but even if it couldn't be done, that means they are not disabled friendly. There needs to be more then 6 seats available for the disabled. Generally there are more than six disabled in a crowd that size. read more

Let me start off by saying that the wait & bar staff are absolutely incredible here! Great service and excellent attention to detail. Security could use more training but more on that later... Food was just OK This review is purely based on a bad and frankly disgusting experience we had recently with ownership/management as I believe the situation (we) had was less than 1 star-material. I will also add that I have been coming to The Boardwalk as a performer & a guest alike for nearly 15 years collectively, so this review is directed (in part) towards the new ownership. We attended a sold out memorial show for a very close friend and music industry colleague who had recently passed away. So already, as you can imagine, this was shaping up to be a very emotional evening for a lot of the attendees - some of which being family, family friends, friends since elementary thru high school, and fans alike - and the last thing on anyone's mind was having to deal with a "situation" Throughout the night, myself and others not only observed but experienced firsthand, a middle aged man (who was clearly inebriated) grabbing and groping on some of our female friends when moving through the crowd or simply (and I quote) "trying to squeeze by" when there was plenty of room for him to do so without the need for physical contact. We brushed it off the first few times in hopes that it wouldn't happen again. Obviously this character had gained some sort of confidence, whether it was the alcohol (which the bar staff probably should have observed as excessive) or the fact that nobody had the courage to stand up to this vile person. Fast forward to a break in-between bands on the front outdoor patio... Guy says "excuse me" and lifts up my friends shirt and puts his hand on the small of her back as to insinuate that he needs to squeeze by when there were ZERO obstructions between him and where he needed to go. As my friend turned around and realized it was the same person who had just done the exact same thing to her not minutes prior, she felt compelled to call him out for it (naturally) and let him know that everyone is aware of his behavior. As soon as this man got called out, several other female friends (and strangers) showed up saying that this character did the same thing to them. It was very clear to everyone at this time that this was not just a "one off occurrence" and that it was an intentional act of harassment and vulgarity. I will also pointed out that this dude was not there for the show nor the memorial. In fact, when asked about the person we were all there to celebrate, his response was "who is that and why should I care?" Once things got a little too heavy/heated for comfort, we thought it best to alert the door security of the situation. As it did take them several minutes to regroup, respond and address the situation, we allowed them to do their jobs and try to calm the storm so to speak. Security basically heard both sides (that of the perv and then my friends who had been affected by his antics) and they had the man stand and wait outside near the street all the while, taunting at us, asking us to fight, which in our minds, was an indication that maybe he had been asked to leave... NOPE! Not 5 minutes later, this sick-o was back inside, standing at the bar, ordering more drinks, becoming more intoxicated and laughing it all up with his friends and who we believed to be HIS WIFE! How embarrassing for her... ...but how embarrassing to be a small business owner/manager and allow this sort of thing to happen to some of your longtime patrons and potential future customers. You should truly be ashamed of yourselves for being complicit in this. Whether this man is a regular, a friend or otherwise stranger is NO EXCUSE to allow this behavior inside your establishment. Not to mention, training your security personnel that it's okay to allow someone like this to just waltz right back inside where it could have easily escalated into something much larger. Absolutely shameful. This would have NEVER happened under Mark & Sandy's watch... All in all, the memorial show was a success and we didn't let this small man and his gross behavior deter us from the real reason we were all there I truly hope that when you read this, you will reconsider visiting The Boardwalk in 2023 and beyond. It's sad to see places that you've grown up to cherish & revere become something much different but it's even sadder to think that there are still folks living under rocks in some fantasy world they've made up for themselves where they believe it's okay to grab on women without being called out for it. And when they do, deny it and be treated like royalty. What century are you living in? read more

Music venue good, very warm in certain areas of facility. Bartenders are not consistent. Have to go looking for them or just go to the bar yourself. The is bar food. Nacho were soggy by time we got them. I would go back for music venue but probably go somewhere to eat first. read more

The Boardwalk advertized Live Band Karaoke "Free Admission and "No Cover" when you get there on a THURSDAY, they will charge you $10 PER SONG... not to get on the list.. PER SONG. I will never be back, not even for music, this left such a bad taste in my mouth. Had they TRUTHFULLY put it on their website where one could know BEFORE they got into the door, instead of trying a bait and switch I would not have been nearly as annoyed as I am now, as I could have made an informed choice read more

We had my husband's 40th birthday at The Boardwalk and had an absolute blast. The owner was super flexible and accommodating. We had an area reserved for the party which was a great viewing spot for the bands. The staff was incredibly friendly, great drinks, yummy food. And we honestly danced the night away with two awesome bands. AND - The Boardwalk gives a large percentage of their proceeds to local charities, which is just awesome. I highly recommend!! read more

Just saw a great band called "Decades" and they were so entertaining. They may be returning in May 2024 so don't miss it. They played everything and had the whole crowd up and dancing. This place has a great vibe! Food was good, staff was very friendly. Great place to take a group of friends to hangout and see a live band. Excellent sound system and big dance floor. I came here with my husband to see Shades of Pink Floyd last Friday. The show was amazing!! The venue was very clean, especially the bathrooms. The bartenders were friendly and quick to serve us, they make great Palomas here. We will be returning soon. read more

Ok, where do I begin??? First of all.. I'm not a ANAL person. I give kudos where they're due. But this time I'm pissed. First time here. First of all, get here early for parking. The security had all spaces locked off. I had to park across the street, and hope not to get hit by cars. Beyond that, it was cute, clean spot, bathroom as well. It reminded me of a Saloon. I used to go to the infamous Mikey Gilley's bar in Texas. A "Honky Tonk," per se. Well, the time the doors were "supposed", to open was 7:30pm. I said "Good- I'm early". I was so excited to see a great band such as Morgan Heritage-Reggae is hard to find here. It wasn't that big of a crowd, but it was ok. Sadly to say, the doors didn't open till 9:00pm!! " Security", just sat & talked to each and didn't inform anyone of anything or if the bands were still setting up. We all waited patiently in the cold. Great! Doors open- its 9:15pm.Ugh!! Went straight to bar to get a drink. I was so parched. But, they have a rude, obnoxious bartender that needs Customer Service drilled in his butt! He passed me up 3-times and waited on everyone else. I kept telling him, but he by-passed me again! Only when a patron said something, he decided to serve me. Serious Attitude! There seemed to be no organization there at all. No management to direct where to go or sit, hopefully, you'll be one of the lucky ones', to sit at a table.. Good Luck finding one. Now, I know what all the reviews meant when they said this was a DIVE. Okay...Music time. Yayyyy!! There was a female band that performed. The music came on loud & clear. Then, Morgan Heritage came on after 10:00p.m!! I stood right upfront, took great pixs, and they sounded great as well as the bass. Morgan Heritage apparently had a issue with mgmt. & decided to leave after 20/30 min set. What a shame. Everyone demanded they're money back.. It was a sad nite overall. Second attempt of a review, trying to be as honest and to the point as possible. Food, pretty good for a bar I think. It came out fast and delicious! Service from the staff, over the top service! Ambiance, it's the boardwalk, but a cleaner boardwalk, much cleaner than the past, if you have been a patron years ago. Only negative but a large one is the owner's attitude toward the patrons. Without going into to much detail of the issue I witnessed, during a charity event held for the people of Maui, people bid on items, then at the end of the event you settle up with the boardwalk management for what you won. One of the owners Derek was insisting on payment NOW, like right now, not after the music, not at the end of the event, he demanded payment immediately from a friend of mind who asked to settle after the band she came to see finished playing, they had just started playing. He could not wait until the music stopped or at the end of the event for her to pay? He demanded she pay immediately! Didn't seem appropriate to me. I myself also bid on 3 items which I won, when the music stopped and the event was over I went and settled up with Sara the co owner of the boardwalk. Needless to say my friend wasn't happy about him being a jerk about the payment and she let him know how she felt with a few not so nice choice words. He got mad and basically lost it, there seems to be a discrepancy on her being banded from ever coming back. This is after she spent $180 on 4 vip tickets, $160 food and drink and her bid on the auction item, not sure the amount maybe around $150-$200. Anyway I hope Sara and Derek find their way running this place. It's a fun place to go when you are treated like a valued patron.
