    Sean Ashe opened. So good!

Headed to the Boardwalk for the Pat Travers Band on Wednesday 1/28. We saw Michael Shanker here years ago. I gotta say. I love this place. What a great small venue. 3 bands, all sounded great. Easy parking across the street. Beers not over priced. But the staff. That's the best part! Everyone was so friendly and professional. You can tell they've their jobs. From the door guy, to the gal that checked us in. To all the bartenders, sorry I can't remember all your names, but 1 individual in particular, Ben, was so nice. He was servicing tables and did a wonderful job. Your business is only as good as the people you have working there, and this business is doing something right!! Thanks to everyone. We'll be back!!

    Only OJ "mimosa"

Sunday Music Bingo A++++ Service C Food B Bottomless mimosas F Love the bingo, had such a fun time. We arrived early as instructed to get a table together at 10AM, no one came to our table for almost an hour. I understand the event doesn't start until 11, but we're sitting willing to spend money in the meantime ... they had one server for the whole place for some reason despite many other employees loitering around. The server insisted we order our food immediately since we were doing bottomless mimosas, so we complied. And then we closed out as requested as well, never seeing that server again (we were there 10-2) The mimosas left much to be desired, theyre mixed behind the counter in a large carafe and the prosecco/OJ ratio was very inconsistent. You receive a tiny plastic champagne flute that probably holds 5 Oz. We went stretches of 20 min without refills when they stated more was being made. We received glasses of only OJ TWICE. When they do refill your glass they touch the rim of your flute to the carafe essentially contaminating your glass with everyone else's in the place. I know this is a new event, and the place was packed... but more of a reason to recalibrate and really consider how to do it right. Carafes should be left on the table, ratios consistent, more servers per section perhaps.

Paid $70 dollars to get in and paid additional $20 for 8 wings. So disappointing................ Would not recommend this place

I paid $70 to get in and an additional $20 for eight tiny wings. I don't mind paying for great food, but this entree was disappointing. I would not recommend this restaurant if you want a satisfying meal. Yes Sara, I paid $20, including a tip, for a small eight-wing entree.

The new regime has some significant kinks to work out in their ticketing and seating. Otherwise, overall good place to see good bands.

I saw this on a list of places in the Sacramento area that host Open Mic nights. Do they still do that? What night? Are walk-ins welcome, or do we have to pre-register? Is a solo acoustic act welcome? Is it done year-round?

Hi Rick, thanks for reaching out. We do not currently offer open-mic nights at our establishment.

My wife, being the supportive queen that she is, came with me. In return, I'm pretty sure I owe her a Hilary Duff concert. Sacrifices must be made for love. This was our first time at Goldfield and we honestly loved the venue. Check-in was quick and easy, and we decided to upgrade our seats to get dedicated barstools along the top rail. Best decision ever. My knees are no longer built for mosh pits. I'm pretty sure I heard them pop just watching the chaos from above. The highlight of the night was our dedicated server. I think her name was Hannah... or Ana... or something close. She was the one who checked us in and gave us the green wristbands for the barstools. Absolute rockstar. Friendly, professional, and fearless. I say fearless because she navigated through packed crowds to bring us our drinks without spilling a single drop. That deserves a gold medal. Goldfield, give her a gold star and maybe some bonus PTO. She earned it. As for the venue layout, there really isn't a bad spot in the house. I loved the two upstairs sections on both sides of the stage. Great views, great energy, and you still feel fully immersed in the show. Only heads up: the bathrooms are small, and depending on where you're standing, your journey there might require cutting straight through the mosh pit. So plan accordingly and stretch first. We'll definitely be back. Until next time, Goldfield.

The building and the auditorium are funky. Flat floor, uncomfortable folding chairs. The stage is elevated up 18 inches, so if you are short and there are bigger people seated in front of you there's little chance you will see the performers. Look for the ceiling air conditioning vents and avoid sitting under one of them. Made that mistake. I had a constant 3 hour blast of chilled air blowing on top of me. My nose was running like a faucet and I was literally trembling from the cold. Couldn't change seats in the capacity crowd. Tbe Bose sound system is adequate though inexpertly managed. The featured guitarist of a jazz combo could barely be heard, and I was sitting on the 4th row. All said, this is a bare bones hall that is staff by welcoming people. Informal, unfussy. The venue is small, but is a great place to see live music. At only 130 seats, it is an intimate setting. Music only, no food or drinks sold. We had dinner and drinks next door at The Hop Gardens restaurant before the show, and then walked around the corner a bit before show time and we were lucky enough to snag first row seats (no assigned seating). The seats are folding chairs, but they are comfortable enough. The sound system is great. Made for a wonderful evening of music at a very reasonable price ($25/ea).

Ace of Spades is primarily a general admission, standing-room-only venue. I understand that's part of its model, but what I struggle with is the cost of having access to a seat. Reserved seating can run $100-$150 per seat, which feels excessive. As someone with a chronic back issue, it's frustrating that the option to sit down during a concert comes with such a steep additional cost. Basic accessibility and comfort shouldn't feel like a luxury upgrade. There were also a few moments during Alex Isley's set when the sound briefly blipped while she was singing. Music didn't stop, singing sounded off. It wasn't constant, but it was noticeable enough to pull you out of the experience. On a positive note, the Good Luck Lounge was a great addition. The atmosphere was welcoming, the DJ was excellent, and the finger foods were surprisingly good. It definitely enhanced the overall experience before the show. The staff at both AOS & GLL were excellent! That said, the seating situation remains a major drawback for me. Unless it's an artist I really, really want to see, Ace of Spades isn't a venue I would choose. The performers are often great, but the overall experience doesn't justify the premium pricing for something as simple as a place to sit.
