I gave this place several chances as the location is nice and the view is lovely. Unfortunately, whoever they've got in the kitchen simply cannot cook food. One time, I ordered the halibut. It was overcooked to the point where it had the texture of plastic. Tough, chewy, not a whisper of seasoning. Another time, I had the salmon (which is mighty pricey, I might add). The salmon wasn't fresh. The mash it came with was, again, completely unseasoned. Not even salt? Come on. What capped it though was a Caesar salad my partner ordered that came absolutely drenched in salad dressing. You couldn't even taste anything else. Just salty, cheesy, soggy stuff. The prices they charge for this are downright criminal. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Edit: Parent company, Landry's, appears to be US-based (Texas). NYE set menu of $80 pp. The selection was great and that's where the great stops. Ordered 2 salads beet and Caesar- pretty standard. A mixed seafood and a halibut main that came literally 2 mins after the salad was dropped. Told em take em back (are you trying to flip the table after an 8pm reso?!?!). The mains were brought back 5 mins later and I was still not done my salad. Said f it, and accepted the mains. Halibut and risotto both were over cooked and tbh, the plate just looked messy with no shuge to it. The seafood medley looked decent albeit the crab cake tasting a touch on the fishy side. Dessert wise, I had the cheesecake, wife had molten chocolate. I took a picture of my dessert because it was an absolute joke!!!!!. 2 hefty drinks and $225 and a shy tip. This was our second time coming to this location. Came in part due to having a gift card from a poor experience at the New West location. When we arrived, the restaurant was bustling. We had a reservation but it still took about 10 minutes to be seated. We had a nice seat by the water in the main dining area. It was loud but still a nice ambiance all around. We both started with soup, me the lobster bisque and him the seafood chowder. Both were delish. Side bonus was that I really loved the shape of their soup bowls! They were very ergonomic and just the perfect shape for eating soup and then angling the bowl so you could enjoy the last bits. Only disappointment was that we weren't offered any bread until our soups were almost done. The bread was crusty and served piping hot with whipped butter. Next up was the sake glazed salmon for me. It was part of the three course menu for $55. The salmon was cooked to absolute perfection and served with grilled veg and wild rice which was slightly dry but otherwise good. He got the halibut fish and chips which were also devine. Perfectly cooked and battered fish with beautifully seasoned fries that are reminiscent of their pan fried potatoes served at breakfast. The coleslaw has some kick with horseradish but overall a really great meal. Lastly, my meal came with crème brûlée for dessert and it was the perfect mix of creamy with a crunchy top. A nice finish to the meal. The service overall was okay, our server was super kind, friendly and chatty, but her timing could have been better - like brining us bread with our soup. The hostess greeted us at the door, she placed us by the window so we could have the view of the ocean while we eat. Wise to make reservations before arriving, this restaurant is vey busy. We ordered to start appetizers Boathouse calamari, Clam bowl, Poke bowl, Salmon, Coconut cod. For drinks we ordered Boathouse Bellini, Pineapple Smoke, Strawberry Watermelon Mojito, the drink were fantastic except the Mai Tai ( didn't meet the Hawaiian flavour) so Beers it is!! Went here for a late lunch / early dinner. There was some event happening in the neighboring park, my local friend that suggested this place was concerned about it being busy, but the restaurant had ample availability. The host asked us if there was a reservation, which is probably a habit or just ensuring if there was, but there was (in my opinion) too long of a pause to "find" an available table. Turned out okay; we got a seat on the patio with a "view" (the tide was super far out so the view was... not great. But that's not the fault of the restaurant of course). The place looked and felt reasonably modern. I did appreciate the nice style physically and the menus ... sort of a silly thing in the end I suppose but it'll matter in a bit. The menu was decently populated, a good variety of items and drink selections. I ordered the brussels sprouts small plate. They were well prepared, nice and crispy, the truffle flavor didn't overwhelm. For my meal I really wanted to order a ceasar salad with salmon, but I found out the salmon (that is not cheap mind you) is farmed, not fresh. Which I know there's a sustainability aspect to farmed, but I just can't stand the taste of it in the end. So that was a pretty big letdown. I pivoted to the steak, with extra veggies instead of potatoes, which was pretty good! Overall this is middle of the road, I think they ask a little too much money for what they offer, despite it trying to look new and vibe, the menu simply doesn't add up to that level. There were 7 of us at the BH Port Moody for early dinner on Sunday, September 14. The prices have jumped considerably since our last visit. Menu was uninspiring! Any change/addition to menu choice met with an added cost! When we asked for the birthday cake to be delivered it came with no plates, napkins, knife or forks. We had to chase down another waitress in order to get those brought to the table. I don't believe our next celebration will be at the Port Moody Boat House! Plus we had to pay for parking. As a Landry Club Select member, Boathouse is one of my favorite restaurants to dine in. I came here during Covid times. Boathouse has a lot of patio seating. Covered and uncovered. This was perfect on a super hot summer day. I made a reservation on Open Table for 3. I came with B and H. I ordered the seafood chowder (complimentary of Boathouse due to a promo that they were doing) and the fish and chips. B got the bacon cheeseburger and a coffee. You can never go wrong with the bacon cheeseburger. H got the same as me fish and chips. Prices has gone up significantly from the last time I went to a Boathouse. The food was very fresh. I really liked the seafood chowder. Unfortunately, B is not a fan of seafood chowder and there were no substitutions available. The only thing that is not cool at this restaurant is the parking. OMG, parking is so brutal here. We carpooled to the restaurant and H took 45 mins to find a parking spot. H had to drop us off to get the table while he had to find parking. We circled around multiple parking lots and they were all full. While The server told us that even employees have trouble finding parking in the area. The server knows how difficult it is to find parking especially on a hot day. Boathouse is part of Rocky Point Park. The location of this place is in a perfect setting. The building is beautiful. The menu has some interesting selection and it is not cheap so expected high quality but it was not as expected and a bit of a disapppointment. The peppercon sauce was very salty. Not sure why there are so many low reviews but the past two times I've come here have been nothing but excellent. Our servers were personable but also knew when to give us space. Reservations are a good idea, I imagine it will get quite busy once it's summer as the views are amazing, overlooking the water and also seeing people walk their dogs along the waterfront. I made a reservation for June 14 it asks if it was a special occasion which it was our 30th wedding anniversary when we arrived we're told nothing in the dinning room unless we wanted to sit in front of the kitchen otherwise we had the choice of the lounge or patio. I thought that was the whole purpose of making and putting that it's a special event so they know and can plan for the people and make it a great experience. It was anything about that. The gentleman at the door didn't seem to care if it was our anniversary And was very dismissive. Our waitress was probably the only one that went out of her way to try and make it as pleasant a night as possible, and the food was OK I definitely had better. I must say I would probably not recommend the boathouse to anybody who is looking for a great experience not go back there myself. I should have looked at the reviews before going. I don't ever remember having bad food at any boathouse over the years but it was my first time at this location. The food this time was not bad and it's the only reason this review is getting 3 stars. I got the lobster tail which was a good meal with the coconut shrimp which was also nice as a starter. We got seated to a table closest the the windows in a corner of the restaurant. The views were nice but both the windows had bird poop smeared down them. So getting a nice anniversary photo of the great view was out of the question. I enjoyed the food but was grossly disappointed at the condition of the environment. My husband and I ended up during or before the meal killing gnats and flying ants that were flying around us and landing on us and there were dead flies along the window sill. No windows were opened around us, just to let you know. The washroom was not kept up to par as well as I went into one stall to find no toilet paper and having to skip it. The floors and carpets dirty with small debris. It doesn't hurt to have someone check washroom up to standards every half and hour and someone walking around with the carpet roller picker upper thing (you know the ones they sold at PNE) lots of restaurants use them. read more

Thanks to my Dad, I was able to come back to the Port Moody Boathouse for an advanced birthday lunch today. We just walked in (party of 3) just before noon and the friendly hostess sat us down by a window overlooking the Inlet. Our waiter came over right away to give us water and take our drinks order. (They must be trained to deal with business lunch folks - - which we were not but truly appreciate the efficiency.) For lunch I chose the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna which arrived within 7 minutes. The tuna was perfectly seared and still raw and not cold inside. It sat on a thick'sh spicy/sweet sauce which went well with tuna. The caveat for the sauce was it got ruined where it was watered down from the steamed bok choy. The shiitake rice was also inconsistent. Some of it was gloppy and hard (like it was old fried rice) and other parts were fine. The Boathouse was a nice treat from my Dad but the food is below average despite an above average service. read more

She refused to do anything about it and started getting rude with me, telling me that was my only option. This is ridiculous. The boathouse is beautifully situated on a inlet in Port Moody. As you walked in to the beautiful restaurant, you can see that it opens up to a beautiful sunroom with stunning views of the waters. Maybe it was early spring, there appears to be a plastic clear cover over the windows which takes away from the views a little bit. We were here for happy hour (3-5pm). We had yam fries, coconut shrimp, calamari and the Korean sticky dry ribs. The dish sizes were a little small but more importantly, the food tasted mediocre and not memorable given the price. What was more disappointing was the service. It was painfully slow to get the waitress' attention. They also appeared to be annoyed that we mostly ordered from the happy hour menu. Again it's the food. I don't mind paying $$$ for a meal but not for bland and little flavour. The food presentation was "sad" , in fairness the server asked if we wanted to see a manager. The corporate owner of the Boathouse sent me a strange looking link that I'm not interested in clicking. However, if they are sincere that they are looking to improve this brutal restaurant, that is great news. I suggest they start using their Facebook page again that currently has 1.7 stars out of 5 with almost 600 reviews. The reviews are coming in non stop but the last word from the business was Feb 2014. You can stick your head in the sand all you want, it doesn't make things go away. Another suggestion I have is to check out the post on the Facebook group "Eat Tri-cities (Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody)" that mention the Boathouse Port Moody where you will get far more information than from just one unhappy customer. read more

But, I don't honk that warrants terse, rude, and almost indignant attitude and response, to the question of whether we could get a table for two. My family and I decided to grab a bite and drinks here after walking around Port Moody. So glad we made it for happy hour! The Bellini was delicious, the wine was nice. I especially loved their raw oysters - it was just so sweet and fresh! Something about the seafood in BC... We also tried the buffalo wings which were alright. The only complaint I have is the heater was extremely strong, and it made my eyes so dry (pretty much melted my contacts onto my eyeballs) it hurt to blink. We asked them if it's possible to lower the heat but they said it had to be on or off. Since we sat at the tented outdoor patio area, it was either I freeze to death or have my eyes be in pain. Also, the severs weren't attentive at all. It takes a while for them to come around to take my order and to also grab me the bill. I just found it annoying that it takes very long to get the server's attention when it isn't even busy (there were only 3 tables in the area). They were just nowhere to be found, or stand very far from you and can't see you waving them over. With that said, I recommend coming here specifically for happy hour (only if slow/bad service doesn't bother you) because they have good options for food and drinks with a decent view. read more

She was attentive, friendly and sincere. We were well taken care of, and there was a small insignificant issue with my order and both her and a manger tended to it, and offered great solutions. You know it's bad when the best thing you can say about a restaurant is that the valet guy is really nice... On a recent trip up to BC, hubby and I hit the Boathouse because for some reason when people want to go somewhere half way nice in the tri-cities they always think of this place. Since our friends are new parents and this was their first foray out of the house in almost six months I gave into their request. I get it - the restaurant itself is very nice. Modern and well decorated while still seeming homey. The view cannot be beat. I used to live right on the water directly across from the restaurant and I miss that view like one cannot believe. The food and service at the Boathouse however, is pretty lacking. That conclusion is based on two separate incidents. The last time we were there we sat out on the covered patio with the aforementioned friends. I thought I was going to receive second degree burns from how hot the patio heaters were burning. My requests to turn them down were ignored. Our waitress forgot about us on more than one occasion for up to fifteen minutes at a time. I ordered the ahi tuna entree. Okay but not worth the price paid for. Seriously lacking in flavor and presentation. In the end, we couldn't find a soul that would bring us the (very pricey) bill. The group of us left with a bad flavor in our collective mouths. Unfortunate really. I love seafood, so for my birthday dinner, my family usually takes me to a seafood restaurant. This year, we decided to check out the new Boathouse in Port Moody. The location is gorgeous, situated on the water in Rocky Point Point park, and first impressions of the interior are similarly favourable - vaulted ceiling, lots of wood, and of course, lots of windows for sunset watching - a Boathouse signature! As others mentioned, though, the parking lot is small and the acoustics do make it hard to hear your tablemateys at times. The service veered between good and overeager - while the server came for frequent check-ins and wine/coffee refills, she also interrupted my Dad a couple times to do so (big no-no) and the explaining of the menu was way over the top. I feel guilty for faulting someone for trying hard, but there it is. As always, though, the food was very good. The menu is vast, but I settled on some mussels for a starter, a halibut/salmon combo for a main, stealing bites of the husband's seafood paella and my sister's seafood pasta for variety. And last, but not least, a free slice of b-day cake with a sparkler. Oh, and one other thing about the menu - why don't restaurants list their non-alc drinks anymore? The Boathouse caters to a wide audience, so it seems a gross assumption to think everyone is going to have wine or cocktails. Maybe I would have never noticed this if not with someone who doesn't drink, but it would be great to see some creativity with the non-alcoholic drinks. Boathouse I have been here a few times now for birthday celebrations. I really like the location which is at the end of the inlet in Port Moody. However, the service and quality could be better. Every time I go, service seems to be extremely slow. Last time I went here, we waited 1 hour and 45 minutes to get our food. Last visit before that took an hour, almost 2 hours before we got our food. No apologies about the wait time. Even the bread they serve came a whole hour later after the server took our orders. The food is mediocre. Last visit I ordered the tuna poke- the tuna did not taste fresh and it was well done. Previous to that visit, we went for crab fest about 2 month ago. Similiar experience, we waited an hour and a half before we got our dinner. It was good but it it was not memorable. I had crab ravioli and the crab seemed a little on the dry side / not as fresh tasting. It is pricey for what it's worth in my opinion. If I can avoid going here I will due to the quality of food and slow service/ wait times. But because of the location and spacious size of the restaurant, I usually end up here because of my friends birthday celebrations / other occasions read more

Oh how far the mighty have fallen!! We came here today expecting what The Boathouse has always been known for, and that's excellent service with fabulous food. The Boathouse in Port Moody is a stunning place with an impressive view of the Burrard Inlet, and it has always had a reputation for being a place to go when you want a little bit of extravagance. Well today, that certainly was a great disappointment. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming. The place was empty and had a very strange vibe. Our waitress greeted us with the usual "Covid regulations" spiel which came of drier, colder and more tasteless then the calamari we ordered. The clam chowder tasted like it came from a Campbell's Soup can (no offence to Campbells, pretty sure yours has more flavour and panache). No bread, no salt, no pepper..nothing to even help mask the overall blandness of it all. When we mention our displeasure with these sad offerings to our waitress, we were told the manager will come speak to us. At this point in time we were ready to just move on and find another restaurant. When the manager arrived, Queenie seamed absolutely apathetic. We let her know we were going to head out and find another local restaurant to finish off at and she replied, and I quote : "That's your prerogative, if you want to leave I can't stop you". We paid our bill and left. I have never walked out of a restaurant in my life. There really are no words to describe how disappointed we were. We ordered the Turkey Christmas dinner to go. Last year we ate at the restaurant & the turkey dinner was really good. Extremely disappointed in the dinner we brought home. The turkey was rolled meat, the stuffing was just a bunch of bread crumbs with a few cranberries in it & was tasteless, the pumpkin pie was store bought & not that good the only thing that was good was the mashed potatoes.
