A gorgeous day, a beautiful view and friendly service - what could possibly go wrong? Absolutely nothing, as it turns out. The hubby and I enjoyed a lovely brunch - he was happy with his Granville Island Breakfast, which happened to be vegetarian and included two beautifully poached eggs, a small bowl of Greek yogurt with granola and fruit, a bit of avocado and a croissant. I too was pleased with my pick, the Smoked Salmon omelet. The omelet was softly cooked just as requested, and was accompanied by perfectly ripe avocado slices, crisp roasted fingerling potatoes and a generous amount of rather salty smoked salmon. The drip coffee was strong and bitter, but our charming and outgoing server, Jojo, had no problems supplying us with extra cream and sugar. Definitely request a waterfront table on the patio if it's a nice day and you enjoy that sort of thing! read more

Came here while our tour bus stopped in Granville Island. We had already finished exploring on our own the other day so we were okay to kill time by just enjoying a drink and some apps. The restaurant was lovely (both inside and on the patio) but we chose to sit indoors as it was kind of an overcast/rainy day. We ordered some cocktails, ceviche, and a pizza to share. Everything was really good! Ceviche tasted bright and fresh, the pizza was nice and thin with great flavors. Service was flawless and our server came around often to check on us. Overall, a solid restaurant with beautiful views. They have a cute backdrop right outside for Instagram photos, too. My ONLY complaint? I asked for crushed chili and Parmesan cheese for the pizza and was a bit surprised to see that they charged $2 for the side of grated Parmesan! I didn't want to make a stink of it so we just let it go... but it seems really odd for a restaurant to charge for a condiment that normally accompanies pizza. read more

We usually love this restaurant but giving it a slightly lower rating than usual cuz the desserts were not up to par this time. Hubby also said that his steak was a bit on the tough side. They seemed to have changed the menu since the last time we were here. They took away the chickpea fries known as Panisse. I was quite sad to see that gone from the menu. Aside from my husband's steak being a bit tough, everyone else seemed to be happy with their entrees. I very much enjoyed my Summer Greens salad which had pickled berries, goat cheese, candied pecans and a shallot vinaigrette. For dessert I ordered the Noir Chocolate Cake which was a plant based cake. One might argue that it wasn't so great because it was a plant based dessert but I think that would be a pretty weak argument. I have tasted plant based desserts that were far superior to this. This cake was quite dense and challenging to cut through with my fork. Wasn't impressed with it. I heard the Tiramisu wasn't so great either. A Tiramisu typically has coffee flavor in it, but my husband told me he couldn't taste any coffee flavor in it. Sure hope things are better again whenever next we come to this restaurant. read more

We came to Dockside for an early brunch on my bike ride with a friend this morning to take advantage of the morning side on their patio. We both had the Rewind Light Lager on draft and we shared 2 entrées (oyster mushroom calamari and spinach dip as we) instead of the main courses. The calamari was surprisingly very good despite the fact that there was no squid. The oyster mushrooms gave a crunchy and springy bite. While there was more roux than spinach in the dip, it was tasty nonetheless and the pita wedges were well roasted. The lager went down so quickly and easily that we didn't realize we got the 20oz instead of the 16oz (we had wanted to get but didn't specify when ordering) until we were paying the bill. At the end, I'm glad we got the 20oz. It was a nice stop on our ride. read more

There's always places to check out on Granville Island, some with wonderful views too. However, I have to say this particular restaurant had a really great view of the water, plus all the boats & kayakers going by. You do feel from location & vibe in the restaurant that you need to dress up a bit to dine in here but from watching others arrive, that's not a mandatory thing. No matter what, it definitely had a very lovely vibe in the place for long overdue visits, date nights & special gatherings. Another yelp friend & I selected this restaurant as our Dine Out Van option (I didn't realize it was the first night of Dine Out Van until we got visiting& talking about all the amazing choices we had to narrow down). We of course were both here for the selected items on a set price featured menu (appie, main & dessert). Short story, we nearly needed someone to roll us out of there. And before dessert arrived! As the appie itself was HUGE. I had the oyster mushroom calamari (that's a meal all on its own), salmon with a bunch of various veggies & the chocolate dessert. She had the tuna appie, steak & frits & the same chocolate dessert. All of it delicious. Seriously. Extra impressed when we were told it was the first day they were back open after a maintenance closure. Sadly my phone was really acting up so you'll just have to trust it looked as good as it tasted for us. As for accessibility, parking (all pay unless staying at the hotel) is right out front & I only spotted one handicap spot. However as it is Granville Island, there's lots of parking options even if you're not right up by the hotel & restaurant entrance. It is a bit odd that at the price of supper that parking isn't at least discounted, if not complimentary. Definitely accessible walkway & doors. It's well lit too. The bathrooms are a bit of a hike around the restaurant but well maintained & clear access. If you're looking for a nicer view while having a really good meal, definitely put this one on your list. read more

This was an absolutely wonderful experience. The restaurant is quite beautiful especially the patio with an amazing view! They actually have quite a good selection of food on their menu which is great! They had a decent amount of dairy free, gluten free and vegan items. The great thing was that they actually noted on their menu which items were GF, DF, vegan or vegetarian. A lot of restaurants get noticed don't often note DF free items so it was nice to see this restaurant did do that. Our server was also great - wonderful service. The only thing(s) I would note is that it is a little pricy and it's also not the easiest to get to via transit (if you're transitting) but I would say it is worth trying out. read more

We came in at like 8:40 and They said they stop taking orders at like 8:45 or something like that, so we were about to turn around and leave when they said "wait wait, if you order fairly quick, will get you some food, no worries". We thought that was really really kind of them. The view was also amazing. Everything was clean. I had the fish, and I'd say it was pretty good, quite clean. I wouldn't say it's the best I've had since being in Van, but it was pretty good. Partner had steak and that was also quite yummy, perfectly cooked. The drinks kinda sucked, but that's okay, I'd rather have decent food. I will say the price was steep for what it was, but I guess with the view comes up charge. Wow, this is one of the best meals I've had as of late! For Father's Day, my dad and I shared the Octopus Carpaccio ($18), with his main being the Ribs (Half - $33, Full - $40) and my main being the Steelhead Salmon ($32). The carpaccio was a work of art - thinly sliced octopus arranged in a mosaic and topped off with pineapple salsa and tapioca crisps. It was refreshing and well-balanced in both texture and flavour. As for my salmon, it was beautifully cooked - flaky and juicy, with a nice sear for some added bite. The smoked salmon, cauliflower, and gruyère croquettes were also sensational, while the cauliflower purée and the golden raisins provided a touch of sweetness. Although the agrodolce was a bit too tart on its own, this was a minor point when taken as a whole since everything on the plate just worked in such harmony with each other. Considering it was Father's Day, I was surprised at the wide availability on OpenTable, but the restaurant filled up not long into our meal. Per my request, we were also seated near the window for a gorgeous view of the harbour. Exceeded my expectations beyond measure! This was easily one of the best burgers i've ever had! It was flavorful, not your typical burger, with a delicious side of fries! We came for dinner on a Saturday night and that's not really the vibe. It feels like a daytime place that serves dinner. No table clothes, people are pretty casual and there are a lot of large family groups with kids. That's all fine, but it doesn't feel very special. Food was all very good except the dessert. The pistachio cheesecake was not remotely pleasant. Service is good and friendly. The restaurant itself just feels a little unloved, windows could do with a clean and there was a strange little glass ledge way above our table that was covered in dust and dead flies. I haven't been here in about a year, so we went for dinner on a Tuesday night in mid-April. I'd previously raved about the kitchen but on that night it was just "good" - I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. My husband's salmon was a tad overcooked, but otherwise tasty. The portion was fairly small, you definitely need an appetizer. Unfortunately their spaghetti with clams (with tomato sauce) was not nearly as transcendent as the amazing vongole I've had before. The pasta was over cooked and the whole thing was weighed down with what felt like too much sauce for the amount of pasta. The cocktails were both quite good. Very nice place with good atmosphere. Me and my husband came to Granville market late and we didnt know it closes so early. We are from US and we didnt had internet on our phones to make a reservation at the dockside. But they were very nice to give us table outside with good view. They also provided blanket because I it got chilly. We were not so hungry so we stick with paella and duck croquettes and 2 drinks. I liked my cocktail Milan and my husband got cocktail el limone with limoncello. I loved duck croquettes they were very tender and tasty. Paella also had a lot of seafood. Beautiful restaurant with great food and terrible service. The hostess was great and sat us by the water when we explained we were visiting. Then we sat and waited. After 25 minutes I went back up and let her know and immediately a server came rushing up and said I understand your ready to order to which I replied well wed like to start with a drink. Ultimately they brought our appetizers and meal at the same time while still on our first drink. So here we are on a crisp but nice Vancouver evening on the water with mussels and fish cooling rapidly so we rushed through everything. Never got a glass of wine for our entrees etc. I figured a 100 per person restaurant would know how to bring food out appropriately but I guess here you need to be explicit. It's a real shame because our view and the restaurant and the food were all great but whoever is running the staff needs to be upgraded. The prepper in the kitchen at a minimum should know how to layer a meal properly even if a young waitress doesn't. read more

I have always wanted to try dockside as it's voted Vancouver's best patio! The views did not disappoint! Situated in Granville island inside the Granville Island hotel, this spot feels like you're on vacation. The details are stunning, black&white, beautiful seating and of course, views of the city and docks. Now, the food was good, but nothing amazing. The Classic benny had a good sauce, but i had asked to swap out the ham for bacon (which was a $2 charge, no thanks). The plate was $20, but you do pay for the experience. The serving size was pretty decent, and the potatoes were tasty! The service was decent, but nothing amazing. The hostess was a bit stressed and not the friendliest. I would definitely visit again, but maybe for a drink or happy hour! I'd recommend visiting just to get that stunning view and enjoy the experience. read more

The bar offers happy hour. Only three cocktails you can choose from! The signature cocktail was awful. The bar food they offer was terrible! Who eats Bone Marrow? Or Tuna??!! Disgusting! My dad wanted to have "lunch with a view", so I picked this place because it had been on my restaurant bucket list for awhile. It was a sunny Saturday afternoon when my parents and I visited Dockside. Granville Island was crazy busy, but thankfully the restaurant's location inside the Granville Island Hotel is away from the more touristy areas of the island, so we were able to find parking relatively easily. Once seated inside the restaurant, we used our phones to look at the menu (they provided QR codes too). Here's what we ordered: 1. Stuffed French Toast (dad's dish): Aside from being the largest French toast I've ever seen, this giant bread baby was packed full of flavour! It had all the makings of a good, classic French toast (fluffy bread with a little bit of crisp along the edges and a soft, custardy centre), as well as a few creative twists to make it extra special (limoncello honey and vanilla mascarpone filling). The use of mascarpone, along with fresh raspberries and mint, made the dish feel lighter and stopped it from becoming overly sweet. I also really enjoyed the added texture of the pistachios. Overall, phenomenal dish! 2. Breakfast Pudding (mom's dish): I wasn't expecting this wild rice and chia pudding to be sweet, but that's what it was! Perhaps that's because of the pumpkin spice flavour, which hit my tastebuds immediately. The texture of the pudding, and the various toppings, was on point. I've never been a fan of breakfast puddings, but this I would have another serving of. 3. Mac & Cheese Skillet (my dish): Until now, my mac and cheese cravings have gone unsatisfied. Many restaurants past have disappointed me with their mac and cheese offerings. I'm happy to report that this was NOT the case at Dockside! Theirs is, without a doubt, THE BEST mac and cheese I've gotten from a restaurant. Finally, I got everything I was looking for! The pasta was cooked al dente; the sauce was creamy without ever getting too heavy; the gooey, cheesy top layer created nice, long cheese strands as I continued to dig in with my fork; the breadcrumbs added some crunch AND were seasoned well; the chopped herbs provided a bit of freshness; and the whole dish stayed warm no matter how far along I was in eating it. Suffice to say, when I took that first bite, I was in bliss. This mac and cheese was the ultimate comfort food that I had been yearning for! I'm very, very happy now. I dare say that the professionalism of the staff and the deliciousness of the food surpassed how fantastic the waterfront view was. Booked a patio table for 6 people this weekend. The view is spectacular and nice ambiance. Great place for special occasions or just to get a group of your bubble friends together to dine outside. The food was all delicious: Knotty garlic bread, Kale Caesar salad, beef carpaccio; BBQ baby back ribs; Grilled Humbolt Squid and Confit Duck Leg. I had the maple bacon beer and it was so smooth and refreshing on a warm summer evening. Our waitress was nice but forgot us a few times; however, whenever we raised our hands someone came by. I would certainly comeback and hope to get table by the fireplace next time. Many only beef is that we used our entertainment coupons and the coupons clear states the discount is on the entree which we had to re-discuss with the manager a few times. Came here for my birthday with the family. Let me start by saying that parking at Granville island is confusing. The sign state 1100 - 1800. I am assuming that it means pay parking between 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. but would it have cost that much extra for two more colons on the parking signs? Were seated immediately at a table near an open door. It was sunny but cool. We asked if the door could be closed as there was a draft on my mother but they advised they could not close the door as it was being used by the servers to access the patrons on patio. Fair enough. They offered to move us, as the restaurant wasn't busy, and the new table was fine... although oddly I noted that within less than 10 minutes, they closed the door to the patio even though there were still patron on the patio. Food was good. We started with the Fried Humbolt Squid, Fresh Oysters, Salt Spring Island Muscles and Skillet Baked Cheese Bread. Our mains were baked Mac'N Cheese, Steelhead Salmon, Haida Gwaii Halibut and West Coast Paella. I found the rice in the Paella a little soft but that could just be me. Finished off with the Semolina Cake Parfait to finish. Quite sweet but very good. Service was very attentive. The patio and the windows face the East so a view of the Marina. Benefit is that there is no setting sun shining in and overheating the place. Also, less foot traffic around. read more

Everything was perfectly cooked and we had the pleasure of eating here for both a breakfast & dinner. However, we loved our 2 nights at the bar with the amazing Mel at the bar. You can feel just as content having a drink alone or feel welcomed to chat with staff. We never felt rushed to leave, even near closing time. Came here for my moms birthday and was blown away by the stunning seaside patio. Overall service was good, not above average or anything but the waitress was nice and tended to us when we needed without long wait periods. The pork belly bites and scallop appetizers were incredible. I highly recommend ordering those. All the food tasted great, no complaints. Only thing is the menu items are quite pricey, however portions are pretty big. Except the halibut (which I ordered). 40$ and was quite small compared to the rest of my family's. We were on vacation in Vancouver and we were taking a Sunset Whale Watching cruise that left from Granville Island. We arrived early to have a late lunch before our 4:30p time for the cruise. Our concierge at the hotel had suggest Dockside Restaurant as a restaurant with a beautiful view. We were on vacation, of course we want to look at the water every chance we could. Dockside did not disappoint. We were seated on the patio outside overlooking the water. Not next to the water since those tables looked very casual like a cabana with low table and larger comfy sofas. We wanted the traditional table and chair. It was a beautiful sunny clear day with a light breeze. Perfect day to sit outside and enjoy our lunch. Laurie was our waiter and was very attentive. My husband like restaurants that ensure his drink of Arnold Palmer are always full. Laurie did a wonderful job ensuring he had multiple glasses of his drink. The food was delicious and the ambiance was relaxing with the water. We even enjoyed dessert. We enjoyed Dockside Restaurant very much and would recommend this as a place to stop and enjoy the view while eating a delicious meal and drinks. read more

There are so many good things about Dockside. We arrived here for lunch at about noon on Monday. The restaurant was pretty empty at the time, but quickly filled. The food: I started with the chowder, it had many different bits of seafood in it, all delicious and perfectly cooked. It was also a very sizable portion. Next, I had the wok squid. It was absolutely amazing, the garlic and spicy flavors were great. Others at my table enjoyed the CBLTAB and the Philly Cheesesteak. The fries were also good. There are also multiples gluten free options available (marked on the menu) and they are allergen friendly. The drinks: my husband and friend were unsure of which beer they wanted, so the waitress quickly offered tasters of the two they were deciding between. They both enjoyed their beers. They're improving! I've been here several times over the years as I have family that love staying at Granville Island hotel. Recently, I've noticed they're upping their game (maybe a new chef?). The food tastes good, it's fresh and seems to be utilizing more local ingredients. The location is gorgeous, right on the water at False Creek - beautiful at night as well. It sort of feels like a tucked away hidden secret. The service is great but could be tad more polished. They're improving at modifications as well but it's still a little bit of an arm twist to get them to modify dishes to customer preference - not difficult just harder than it should be. In the summer time the patio might be one of the best in the city. Try it out, I think you'll like it. read more
