I love body shop and was so sad the Westfield location at Union sq was closed and the nearest one was in Hillsdale mall. I came to see some of my favorites and discovered the avocado range for dry skin. It was non sticky and smelled nice. I left with a pouch of hand balm, body butter and shower cream. Posting another review to rave about Body Shop products for men, for shaving. The maca root shave cream is the absolute best product I have ever used for shaving. I use a Harry's razor and blades and shaving is an absolute breeze. I actually find myself enjoying the process as it's a relaxing spa like experience. I shave and then follow up with a tea tree mask for about thirty minutes..take it off and use toner and green tea moisturizer to make my face feel refreshed and ready to face the world...it makes me feel..Mighty Real...I thank Edie, for guiding me to the exact products that works best for me. I haven't been to The Body Shop in a while so imagine my disappointment when I find out the Coconut Milk body lotion I used to get has been discontinued, not the store's fault though. This store is a fair size and they still have all the usual stuff you can get in any other store or online. Couple of my favorites - Peppermint foot lotion, always wondered why make it pink when it's mint...? & Vitamin E Cream which I find makes a great hand lotion. Strong smell coming from the store? Horrible customer service. Went to The Body Shop to make a return and the cashier insisted I needed to sign where it said merchant signature after I had already signed the line customer signature. Definition of a Merchant: 1. One whose occupation is the wholesale purchase and retail sale of goods for profit. 2. One who runs a retail business; a shopkeeper. That is NOT me. Definition of a Customer: 1. one that purchases a commodity or service This would be me! Why, Why, Why....would you insist I needed to sign the line that says merchant signature. Maybe I could overlook this ignorance if this was a young teenager, but this was adult. And this adult also insisted that she couldn't read my name or address that I had printed on the form she required me to fill out because of her age and she insisted I fill it out again, when I refused she made me tell it to her and she printed it out over what I had already filled out. On top of all that she did not adust the return tax properly so I did not receive the full amount I originally paid for the product. Really, horrible service. read more

Groupon brought me here this time around. I admit to liking them more in the past when they were less mass produced. They used to have the fragrance bar where you can mix and match the different scented oils and make unique lotions and such. Everything's pre-made now. I still enjoy some of their products though. The peppermint foot lotion's a nice treat after a long day on my feet ... in those airtight shoes. The hemp hand lotion's feel so good, I can live in them (though I wish the smell's not as strong). The body butters are really nice as well. Non-greasy, considering they call them "butter". Not sure if I'll buy much from them without the Groupon deal, but now that I've got a stash at home, I'm enjoying them. read more

I love their products but not so much the store. The one star is for one of the sales rep. She was so nice and very patience and empathetic towards customers.The other one was a bit off on a I am too busy to be bother. The fake blond hair was a dead giveaway of her very bitchy attitude. I guessed that they have a rules to not touch any items or open it. Sorry..,didn't know and I didn't see any signs. This is what happened when quarantine makes you buy everything on line. Should have ordered on line but I can't smell the products so I am fucked both ways. If I did I would not be touching and opening things to dip a tester to smell it. No testers either but then the other girl(nice one) asked if I wanted to smell it. Simple and polite...sigh...rarer than a gem. The other star was for the items I bought. Pre-Covid experience. Customer service was non-existent at this store when I tried to return an accidental duplicate online purchase. There were some technical issues with the computer and the return could not be processed. The employee (who claimed to be the manager) refused to let me leave the product with the store and trust them to process the return the next day (I called the help line later and was told that would have been the correct procedure); he further insisted I return before 5 p.m. on a weekday in case they needed to call their East-coast based HQ for help. After explaining that I did not wish to make a second trip and certainly did not want to take time off work, he went into a long rant with two points: (1) he has had to take time off work to fix his car; why shouldn't he inconvenience me? (2) he has experienced terrible customer service at many other places; so why should I be spared? He also went into great detail of how he thought the Body Shop sucked. I was flabbergasted to hear that the manager's sole mission was to make their customers as miserable and bitter as he was. read more

I wandered in here based on a scent recommendation a friend gave me for White Musk and met Edie the sales associate! Edie is a gem. They helped me find several perfumes to sniff (I ended up loving Black Musk) and showing me some other amazing products. Edie is so friendly, helpful, and kind. I had such a great conversation with them and felt like a friend was helping me find what I needed. Would come back just to say hi to Edie and see what's new! read more

I am so glad I found this store! I ran in one day to grab some lipstick on a lunch break because I had forgotten mine at home and my lips were pale and needed help... I ended up being recommended a lipstick that is my FAVORITE EVER lipstick I've owned (and I've tried a lot of them)! The color is delicious, it's creamy and moisturizing, and it doesn't have that bad smell that accompanies lipsticks made with cheap ingredients. I went back not just once, but two more times and ended up getting lip stains, concealer, fragrance, shower gel, and moisturizer, all of which are lovely products for reasonable prices. Tiara and Edie are the sweetest people and were both so kind and patient in helping me even if I was rushed with only 5 mins left on my break. Tiara always leads me to products I end up loving and purchasing that I otherwise wouldn't have considered or noticed. Thank you both for making my time at the body shop so positive! read more

I'm not a girl who's much into bath and body products, I don't get off on soaps and shampoo's and such. If I get a $1 Ivory soap bar, I'm good to go, lol. The joke is that it's my husband who takes more time to get ready and groom himself :-) But these guys--the Body Shop--is a place where I make an exception: there's something about their stuff that's incredibly addictive. For example, they make four products: banana shampoo and conditioner plus ginger shampoo and conditioner--I'm telling you, it doesn't get better than this. Clean and simple, no fancy fake smelling shit, nothing artificial or perfumey, which I detest. I've been using these for years and can't imagine switching. I usually get these online but in this rare instance, because I was passing their shop and happened to be in the mall, decided to see what else they might have, and while I didn't end up buying something new, my experience in their shop was excellent. The women were friendly without being pushy and I was able to wander around feeling relaxed. They had a huge variety of body butters, which didn't seem greasy enough for me, and given I'm already addicted to my Nivea and Kiehl's Creme de Corps ... otherwise who knows, I might one day try out one of their fruit "butters." read more

I thought I was avoiding a big headache by shopping online for black Friday until I had to deal with The Body Shops online customer service. I just want share my experience with the two managers at each of the stores (Edie at Hillsdale and Eli at Newpark). They are awesome! They are very customer oriented and were very helpful in resolving the mistakes that the company's online service made. From now on, I'm going to the store to buy my products. They make the in-store experience better than going to Nordstrom's. To their district manager...you have two awesome employees! I wish all stores had staff like these two. read more

Groupon induced misadventure. I have fond memories of shared peppermint foot lotion on a 2-week camping trip about 15 years ago. So I bought the Groupon. If not for me this kind of stuff always makes a great little gift. Sometime, presumably after the L'Oreal buyout, the products became odor-overdrive chemical balls. Maybe they were never supposed to be all-natural but it'd be nice if the ingredient list hinted that they were at least natural dominant. Spying a word I recognize in the contents is rare; one without a number for a suffix or "poly/mono" as a prefix still rarer. My feet do smell like peppermint but at this age I can't really contort to smell them so it doesn't matter. They still have prominent branding against animal testing so I guess these synthetics are established as safe with animal testing done long ago by other companies. Friendly and helpful staff plus heavy discounting in addition to the coupon stave off the dreaded single star of death. read more

Went in for massage oil, already a good start. The lady who helped us was friendly and ever so helpful, she was excited to sell us a fragrance we liked infused into the massage oil. Now while there I had a few mishaps with the tester bottles, if you are me better not to play those things, made a mess of me and the floor. Side note do not rub all the stuff on you, some of them are not meant to be played with. Okay back to sales girl, knew her stuff and made us feel like she wanted us to enjoy the massages to come. She even asked me at check out if I wanted to use a discount that was coming my way...soon to expire. Um yes..so I reshopped and got a great deal. Basically the 2 hand washes that I purchased thereafter were comp'd. They don't smell how I would like them to smell...fresh. They happen to be, however, the most hydrating hand wash that they carried! Hemp fragrance...but I can manage. I have never shopped at The Body Shop, it's like my last resort if Sephora or Nordstorm didn't have want I was looking for. I read about the products and saw Pinterst views never thought of trying it out for myself. little did i know, today was going to be the day to burst my Body Shop bubble. Coincidentally, as I was walking past the store on my way to Sephora, I was like why not just check it out .Boy, am I glad I did. Christopher was AMAZING! and informative, not judgemental at all like the rest of the mall ppl. I know my skin and what I need for it. He shot my barriers down as soon as he was honest with me about the products and knew exactly what I was looking for. There was no sales pitch from him, plainly informing me about the type of products and ingredients, for my skin concerns. I recommend anyone that want to try an organic skin line. Horrible customer service. There were two ladies helping us out, or should I say one lady helping us out (but had no clue what she was doing) and another judging us the whole time (I didn't care enough to remember her name but she was of Asian descent and had tattoos on both arms). Her facial expressions as well as her behavior was extremely disrespectful. Every other customer that walked in was greeted and made conversation with (by the tattooed girl), except us and it became very obvious. The body shop is a classy brand and should look to hire only classy people in the future. read more

I want to give a shoutout to Doug - the guy with the pompadour haircut. From the moment I stepped into the shop he was warm and welcoming. I browsed around a bit and then asked him some questions. He made some recommendations and then to my surprise gave me a generous number of samples of a variety of their products. Dear Melissa, with 16 years of customer service experience, If you're thinking that I'm writing this because I have nothing better to do with my time. You're right. So, back to my letter to Melissa. Maybe 16 years of being miserable in the same place should be enough to tell you that it's time to find a better career? Clearly, with your 16 years of experience, you've learned nothing about how to treat a customer who is literally in the process of paying for your products. If you're so bothered by people accidentally opening your products, maybe you should SEAL THEM? Or have your testers where people can easily see them? You can't tell customers you now "have to throw away the product" because it was opened if it wasn't sealed in the first place. How do I know the product I paid for (then promptly returned) wasn't opened by someone else? You can excuse yourself and say you're just doing your job, but if everyone did their job like you did, nobody would be in business. By the way, thanks for telling me to "go shop online," you sounded just the right amount of rude for me to cancel the transaction altogether. That's money I can now spend better elsewhere. On second thought, I actually am glad I went to Lush first. For anyone else who cares enough to read this, you're better off spending more money at Lush than on cheap products here with cheap customer service. read more

The store management here does not understand the meaning of customer service or how to resolve customer related issues. They do not care to resolve issues, even for repeat customers. Some associates attempt to help but do not know how to resolve the situation so turn to management, who is completely useless. Learn to appreciate customers more. read more

I went into the Body Shop last week just to glance, but I've always been curious about their product line. Their store manager, Dalton, immediately came up and asked how he could help me. Not only did he thoroughly explain how each product I asked about would benefit my skin, but he helped me find the best skin regimen for my particular issues. I came out with a better knowledge about their products and my skin. I have been to several Body Shop locations and absolutely love their products. I visited the store last Friday, as I looked around the store a gentleman did not greet me or acknowledge I was there. Being from a customer service background this matter a lot. After a while a young lady came over to me and asked me if I was being helped. I said no as a matter of fact I was ignored. She immediately apologized for the type of service that I had received and proceeded to assist me with new products. She introduced me to a new facial product called Himalayan charcoal mask. I must admit I was a little skeptical but since she took the time to assist me and was extremely knowledgeable of the products how could I not take the chance. As I checked out I asked the wonderful woman her name so that I could write this review. Her name is Manifa and come to find out the gentleman that was of no assistance was the store manager. My recent experience here has been terrific. Knowledgeable staff. They are patient and listen to what you are looking for & don't try to oversell you. Many of their products are Community Trade & Community Trade Organic. They have very little packaging which is a plus for the "waste factor". Every product I have used has not bothered my incredibly sensitive skin. The Aloe line is Divine: I use the facial cleanser, eye defense, eye make-up remover & their "gentle exfoliator." The lipstick doesn't dry my lips out. The liquid eyeliner is easy to apply and it removes just as easily. The mascara I tried was really really dry so I returned that. (Maybe they had a bad shipment?) I definitely recommend them. I've tried MANY products expensive lines, "mineral" lines, drug store (even Neutorgena, Olay)- all of them bother my skin. I use one moisturizer that is not The Body Shop. But its the only one that works. But it works well with the Body Shop's products. Nice store, clean & good products, good service. read more

I went to the Body Shop because I received an e mail, BUY 3 GET 3, BUY TO GET ONE!! Gift items excluded it said anything!!. So I went to the store and picked out 3 items and then 3 more of the same for the advertised deal, Went to the check out and was told sale items didn't apply, no where does it state that! As everything was basically on sale this is false advertising!! I was a Love your body member where you pay!! to join. No, no showing of consideration, no showing of any printed codicil to prove that sale items were excluded. Never going back and telling everyone free is not free! read more
