We came in on a Saturday night. There was maybe 3-4 other tables that were occupied. We ordered 6 meals and it took 30-45 minutes for the food to come out. Mind you, at least 2 of the pre-occupied tables were already eating food. We saw a chef go to the main gas station to grab the country fried chicken place that is in any other gas station. 2 of my friends ordered chicken strips with broccoli and fries. The fries were completely unseasoned and the broccoli was still raw. I ordered a French dip with a caesar salad. Our waitress didn't bring our table utensils, leaving me forkless for the majority of our meal. Food quality was terrible. Me and my family will NOT be returning. read more

We had coffee and food and then our check very quickly. (We didn't want to be in there for very long and we weren't.) Food portions were more than enough. Booth was comfortable. Atmosphere was pleasant and I could tell that the air conditioner was on, which is a good thing. We both got the classic American breakfast. This place was unique in decor and courtesy. All the employees and servers were attentive and courteous. The bathrooms were clean. They have bakery items for sale as well. The main store has quite a bit of selections including hot food at the counter and fresh cold selections. The breakfast in the restaurant was delicious. My husband doesn't eat pork but they were more than helpful and happy to sub out pork for chicken for him. They even have orange marmalade!! Smucker's naturals. All in all great travel stop. This place has turned into a dump. It used to just be rough on the outside, but now the inside matches. The last few times I've went in the entire place smells like sewage. FOOD - The quick hot bar is limited to nasty Indian food, or fried chicken. I suspect they've got dirty or old frying grease because the "krunchy" chicken here because the chicken will give you the worst acid reflux. It's such a shame because this location has an opportunity to have an awesome gas station/restaurant and it's just been reduced to this like decrepit, falling apart, stinky place. read more

Pros- Clean restaurant. Plenty of tables. Great service from Monica (all smiles). Nice, extensive menu; you WILL find something you want. Convenient quick shop next door for all your needs. I will definitely return to try more from the menu. Cons- A bit of a drive from Boise, but worth it, especially if you are traveling from Mountain Home or back. Restrooms could use some remodeling, but they appeared clean. Parking is free, but none were available close to the entrance. read more

As we drove from east coast to west coast this was a gem of a place. The menu was big and so was the space. It wasn't crowded bc it was early lunch when we stopped but there was plenty of space for a crowd. There were four of us and between us we had the loaded nachos, a blt, a bbq sandwich and a double cheeseburger all fantastic! The only non spectacular thing was the fries but they were still good. We def could have split items they were generous. The staff was friendly and the little C store was nice as well. If I'm ever near Boise again I'll stop here! read more

We were looking for a place to lay over with our horses on a long road trip and happened upon this location on HorseMotel.com or we never would have known they offer corrals. It was a noisy spot to stop and try to get some rest with a few truckers using their old school super loud compression breaks after midnight and all the highway traffic but the horses were safe. Went to the restaurant for dinner and had a good meal, surprised by the prices being so high, and a decent glass of wine. The only thing that would have made it a better place to stop with horses would be access to water for them and a power hookup so we didn't have to run our generator. There were zero water spigots except a "NON-Potable" one up by the gas station. Thank you for having pens for those of us that often struggle for just the right stop to rest them at the right mile/drive time so we get off the road before we get too tired. The showers are fantastic. The people are super nice. I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 though because the food is just atrocious. I guarantee everything is Sysco or US Foods. Nothing fresh. Even the biscuits are just frozen biscuits heated up. Just absolute garbage. Now, is it better than fast food? Not sure. Lol. The restaurant has a little store and gas station nearby, perfect to take a break and stretch your legs. I ordered the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs, hashbrowns, and sourdough toast. The eggs were fine but a bit undercooked. The toast could've been toasted longer but was otherwise nicely buttered. The hashbrowns were standard but better with the steak seasoning on the table. The chicken fried steak was good, and the sausage gravy was a bit spicy, which was great. The portions are quite generous, it about put me in a coma after I cleaned my plate. While not the ultimate example of hubris, I do tend to overestimate my ability to drive places and not stop for gas. And by "my ability" I mean my truck's ability. This way of thinking is, of course, a disaster waiting to happen as it's only a function of mathematics: gasoline is finite and will take you finite miles. With this notion as a backdrop, I can say that I am grateful for Boise Stage Stop for posting up some 15 or so miles outside of the Boise metropolitan area, as I was but a few miles from empty when I realized I should have stopped back in Mountain Home but would be more comfortable stopping in Regina. We coasted in (not really, my onboard computer showed 7 more miles to empty and then there's the bonus miles after that) and found the Bavarian-esque structure and gas station. We filled up and used the restrooms, conveniently located down the hallway just in time, and got back on the road somewhat speedily. Most folks here are reviewing the restaurant and I can't say if it's good or not, though it looks to be pretty classic diner/traditional American food and I'm sure makes for a nice break. As we visited in the time of COVID, we really were just trying to be quick about our visit, and that we were. It was a success and great empty tank embarrassment was avoided. read more

Well it's been 2 yrs since we were able to stop here to eat. I wanted my Shrimp Scampi but it changed... it was pretty bland. The waitress told us that customers said they were making it wrong. So the dish that I liked was called Shrimp Fettochinni Alfredo with grilled peppers! So that will be next time maybe. It was the Me I an cooks that made it gooooood! Our waitress did give me some grilled onions and tri peppers grilled for it. And I added them. Not the same. But oh well things change. New cooks too. Bf had chef salad and that was good. A friend messaged me and told me that I should try the Chicken Fried Steak (CFS) here. I have been searching for a good CFS ever since I came here from Texas some 20 years ago. The Boise Stage Stop (BSS) claims to have the best CFS in all of Idaho. A very bold claim, but I was open to the challenge of trying it. The BBS is a bit of a drive, but really, its not that far to go. Especially if their CFS was as good as they claimed. As a Texan, a good CFS i worth a long drive and even more since this is one of our main food groups. I arrived at the BSS at 8am before it got busy. BSS is a truck stop so my expectations were not high. Truck Stops are known for poor service, lots of grease, and pretty poor quality quick food. However, I kept and open mind coming here. Who knows. I might just have found a hidden gym. The menu here is huge. They cover everything from Breakfast, to Burgers, to Mexican and everything in between. I ordered the CFS and waited in anticipation. It came out in just a few minutes, which tells me that is was not cooked fresh. It is probably pre made and maybe even frozen, then fried to make it crispy and seem fresh. The crust was nice and crispy like it should be, but not a Chicken type batter that is all fluffed out and crispy like a Texas CFS. The coating was flat like I have seen so many times from other frozen CFS's. I took a bite and could instantly tell it was fried from frozen. Its a good size and had a nice white gravy over it. The meat inside the CFS is not a good round steak like it should be. The flavor of the meat was not good at all. IThe gravy hide the flavor of the meat, which was probably a good thing. Like other frozen ones I have had before, the CFS here is mystery meat. I could not identify it, but it tasted and had the texture of a processed meat that had been formed into a patty. On an Idaho scale, I would give this CFS a 4. On a Texas, CFS scale, I wolud give it a negative 4. A real CFS should be made from real steak like round steak though Jo Mamas in Meridian uses Flank Steak successfully. My vote still goes to Jo Mamas for the best CFS in the Boise area. read more

Have I never reviewed this place before? Fine. Anytime I'm going from Salt Lake City to Portland I stop in between to see the fine folks at Boise Stage Stop. While there are plenty of neat doo-dads in the Main store. I'm really just stopping for the restaurant. They stay open late so when I show up tired and hungry they welcome me with a smile. Yes they do serve beer and Margaritas. I'd say stick with the beer. Or a soft drink. I haven't had a bad meal yet at this place. From tex-mex to Italian to burgers to steaks and of course breakfast all day. You're sure to find something that will keep you coming back. And even if you don't have room left for dessert take a slice of pie or two to go. You won't regret it. read more

Truck stop restaurant with a touch of Wild West class. Really enjoyed the atmosphere with horses, stage coaches and cowboys. Food prices ranged accordingly to the meal offered. Some of the dinners were pricey. But, the food was flavorful and plenty. Will definitely visit again soon. read more

The stage stop is a great place to park, especially if your east bound. You'll be a mile past the scale house. I've seen this place close to full, but never full, even when the weather is bad. I had the stage stop burrito tonight, the kitchen was on it. I had to let it cool down when it arrived. The first bite almost took my taste buds with it!! My meal was good, shredded beef and beans in a tortilla, covered in verde sauce. Sides consisted of rice and beans. The rice was on the dry side, and the beans were a little loose. I had to knock a star due to lack of attention from the waitress's tonight. In the past they've been top notch. I'm guessing they were short one tonight. Breakfast prices are way too high. Omelets should range from $6 for basic cheese to $10 tops. Ordered bacon and avocado omelet for $13.49 with high hopes for the high price as it was described to have fresh avocado, however the omelet i received had brown unappetizing avocado. Very unappealing. The egg portion of the omelet was cooked properly and the bacon was awesome! Portion size good, I couldn't finish it all. The hasbrowns were cooked too fast or too hot as they weren't overdone but still had some blackened pieces, was missing that good golden brown evenly across. All in all pretty good. I would eat here again. Probably not my go to for breakfast as the breakfast is way overpriced for a diner but I think I would come back and try one of the dinner selections. read more

It's truly a truck stop first, so be aware, the foods good, plentiful and fairly inexpensive. The wait staff are really friendly. It's really clean as well. Been there many times and will continue to do so. The menu is huge which is pretty amazing considering, it's just a truck stop. I had eaten here once before and thought I did a review because it was pretty good. this visit was different everything was very clean. the main waitress(short with brown straight hair and calls everyone honey) was on the catty side talking crap about co workers(past and present) and people in general loudly. She thought she was hilarious for putting people down-it just didn't come across that way and was mean spirited high school behavior. After a long day you just don't want to sit there and listen to that kind of crap. It's just negativity and an unnecessary downer. got biscuits and gravy. o God that gravy is not meant for human consumption. I don't know if it was cooked wrong, or what, but the overly pink sausage in it tasted horrible!!! No clue what kind of meat that was in it since it just tasted bad. that's it. just BAD. I didn't eat much, but left there and ended up using a barf bag 20 min later. They seemed to have changed up their recipes or cook?? idk but be careful eating here. buyer beware! This place has so much potential, but seems to have an employee problem from ownership to management to staff. I'll never stop here again. This place has a pretty good reputation and, unfortunately, was completely disappointed. Ordered a dry aged New York strip and it was disgusting. I've had tough steaks, bland with no flavor at all steaks, but never a disgusting steak in my life until I ate here. Service was subpar at best and the deserts were as terrible as the steak. On top of all the disappointing food, an employee was standing at the counter on the phone talking about how disgusting and nasty truck drivers are and President Trump being a piece of shit. THAT alone will deter me from every spending another dollar in this place and if this business stands for this type behavior then I don't recommend anyone else stopping here either. read more
