Wanted to shout out for the shift manager at Fat Guys on Thursday, July 3rd. The sandwich I ordered came quickly with great service at ordering, but when the meal arrived one-half of the sandwich was soaked in mustard and fell apart in my hand. When I asked the shift manager for a knife so I could cut the sandwich into bites she cheerfully told me they would remake the sandwich for me! What a delight to have that kind of service and pride in craft. I opted for the re-make and it was delicious and well put together. Hats off to the person who hired the shift manager. Walked in ordered sandwiches & potato salads. Ask what the soup of the day was. It was not the one written down on the board for the day. After 20 minutes we were told that they were out of potato salad. Then we were notified that my husband's sandwich was ready & they were out of meat for mine. Regardless if my husband's was ready or not the manager should have refunded our money. Because after all that neither one of us wanted to eat there. And it was our first time in! Fairly small deli with tables inside and more outside for Al Fresco dining. Not rerally enough room for decorations, although they do let people sign the walls. The menu is on chalkboards and signs over the counter, where you order. They deliver to your table. About 4 people in line ahead of us, but that wait was short. It arrived at our table outside between five and ten minutes later. The sqeeze and I split a Reuben samminch and got two small orders of tater salad. The sandwich had plenty of tender meat in it, a good amount kraut and dressing. It was served on rye bread with swiss cheese. Very nice sandwich, wonderful flavor and plenty for two people. The tater salad was different as it had some meat in it, but very good. I am not sure what the meat was, but it sure added a different texture and flavor to the salad. We stopped by Fat Guy's for a carryout lunch on a Friday afternoon. It's a fairly small spot but has a large menu. I was a bit overwhelmed by choices, but I have a feeling it is a spot where any choice is a great choice. Before I get to food, let me tell you about the folks working there--so friendly! We were greeted and welcomed immediately. Everyone was chatty and helpful. A+ Now the sandwiches. Holy cow! I had a Reuben that knocked my socks off. So fresh! So flavorful My husband ordered the turkey club and I didn't know how he would be able to eat it because it was so large. Wow, what a grimy, dirty place....The tables, chairs, floors, napkin holders and more were greasy and gross. The staff were incompetent and mostly stood around talking, sat on bar stools at the counter and some were on their phones. . Oh, and the food; the bread was falling apart because it was old. The sandwich did not have much meat and was mushy and wet. I got stomach cramps an hour later which made running errands a little interesting.... This has been one of our favorite deli's for years but it's sad to see how much the service has declined. There were four people sitting in the store and we waited over 30 minutes for a sandwich. Fat Guy's is one of my favorite places to eat lunch. It is also one of the few places open at 10:30 a.m. for lunch, which also makes it a winner in my book. I am the type of person that will order the same thing when I like it and my go to at Fat Guy's is a spicy Phat Pig sandwich. A large sandwich with bacon, ham and other goodies. I am a picky eater and while they have a motto and reputation for not making subtitituions they will leave off ingredients if you don't like them. All in all it doesn't seem to matter which sandwich you order, they will all be large and include quality, fresh ingredients. The staff is also amazing and friendly. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and it is very bright and cheery inside with their open windows. Parking can be a bit tight with the other businesses in the area. read more

Customer Service was amazing and super friendly. The restaurant was clean. My sandwich was huge! Portions are out of this world. I couldn't even finish half of my sandwich. That being said, my sandwich as a combo with potato salad and a drink was $20. That was eye brow raising that I just wanted to stop in for lunch and didn't anticipate $20 for a quick bite. The sandwiches are excellent when it comes to the meat and topping, but I think the reason this place is called "fat" is because of the way-too-thick bread. It's simply too much and unnecessary. I ended up eating mine open-faced to make it feel like a normal amount of bread. The most ridiculous sandwich is the kid's pb&j. It's a whole loaf of bread in one sandwich. Hollllyyyyyy sandwich I walked out paying 22 (+tip) and with how expensive that is, surprisingly I'd say it's definitely worth it in the right mood/situation. I ordered the blue bronco and it was heavennnn. SO MUCH SANDWICH to feed an army. So delicious. The staff was friendly and I loved the style inside. Felt very 'downtown' for it being hidden in a bunch of office places in meridian. Definitely the right place if you want a sandwich and have a huuuge appetite. I decided 4 stars due to the prices. The potato salad is absolutely awesome. It's not sweet and loaded with goodies. The coleslaw was meh. Neither my husband or myself enjoyed it. Didn't have much flavor. More like Italian dressing-y. Not creamy. Both sandwiches were amazing. Tons of meat. Bread was good. Lots of toppings. They do not offer free water cups, but do have bottled water available. So I've been a customer for years. Since it was originally called 2 Fat Guys. Ownership changed since those days at least once...maybe twice now. The place is a lot cleaner inside, however, the sandwiches are a lot thinner (less meat) & more $$$ for less food. Come on Fat Guys. Meat used to be as thick as the bread. This is my 3rd time ordering from Fat Guy's. I have always gotten the Big Fat BLT and it is amazing, however this time, I barely had any bacon in my $13 sandwich. Was very disappointed as the past 2 times, it was a great sandwich filled with bacon. There is no way there is a 1/2 pound of bacon. Consistency is key. This restaurant has been here about 3.5 years. I used to be outstanding but I see quality beginning to slip. The sandwich recipes were originally formulated by a chef. However during the pandemic some sandwich ingredients, particularly cheese could not be sourced and other types were substituted. Add to that the massive turnover in the food service industry and the establishment now has the burden of constantly training new workers. I stopped by today and ordered the PC Pedro (#20) and the Cuban (#31). The PC Pedro is one of the sandwiches that swapped Pepperjack for the original Havarti Horseradish cheese and it does not taste the same. I was disappointed to be refused to substitute Provelone. The management has decided to emphasize production techniques over quality unfortunately, not a good sign for a premium sandwich shop. However the sandwich maker noticed that I ordered no cheese (that request is accepted) and offered to put another cheese on the sandwich and with the Provelone it tasted great. Sadly I heard her get reprimanded by the manager later on for doing so. The Cuban was drenched in sauce, both mustard and mayo to the point that it overwhelmed the senses and threw the sandwich taste out of balance. This is likely a training issue with the sandwich maker. Previous sandwiches were much more balanced. The biggest disappointment is that I see this place losing its focus on quality. It is a unique sandwich shop and originally had excellent culinary recipes, many of them still unchanged. I sincerely hope that the management will listen to constructive criticism and begin correcting the quality issues because I know how good this food can be. All that said, I have great respect for the owner/managers here; they are sincere and care very much about the product they put out. read more

i've been here a few other times a few years ago and decided to go again with my boyfriend. while i was eating i found a hair in my wrap, my boyfriend took it back inside to see if either he could get a refund or have it remade. the manager was super defensive and rude about it. it was remade, my boyfriend started eating it because i had lost my appetite and TWO bites in a long hair was pulled out of it. nobody where's gloves, no hairnets, i didn't once see them wash their hands before making or inbetween other orders. waste of money, hair practically tasted better then the food. read more

Serving a sandwhich with only meat, cheese, and sauce? Very odd. We were told "the owner has really been cracking down", on what? Ensuring the customer doesn't enjoy their food? The customer in front of us had asked for a to-go box and the guy behind the counter stated in order to receive that, she had to sign the floor as it was against their way. We were in the area and decided to try this place out. Staff was mostly friendly and it did not look too busy. We tried ordering a pastrami sandwich but change the bread bc we don't like rye bread and a Cuban sandwich. Employees all hesitated, looked around all scared then said they would ask if it was okay. They returned shortly and said absolutely not bc they don't change the bread on their sandwiches. I'm not sure about you, but I like my food the way I like to eat it, not the way they want you to eat it. We promptly turned around and took my business / money elsewhere!
