So many delicious options that it sometimes takes a while to decide. I wished they would have a spinning wheel or dice to pick for me. Soups are good with the Zuppa Italiano being best overall IMO. Chips are bagged chips and ok. I'm personally not a fan of their potato salad but I'm sure most people will like it. Customer service is top notch. Great interaction without being over the top. Reason for not being full 5 star is being forced to have a side. On most days, I'd like to just have sandwich and nothing more but have to pay higher price for side included. Often just take chips home and eventually eat them but I'd rather save the $1-$2 added for the side. Not a biggie but the place is cramped especially during lunch rush. Wished they were open until 7:00 pm! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a bit now. I am on a mission to try every Reuben sandwich in Boise! Staff was friendly and let me add pastrami to the sandwich. Grilled bread was nice and sando was not bad. Not the best I've had as the meat seemed more like sliced deli meat you'd get anywhere not made from scratch. I could be wrong just how it tasted. Potato salad was just ok. Heavy on the rosemary and thyme, could use less IMO. 7-10 on sandwich and 5-10 on potato salad. read more

I asked to not put there spread on my sandwich and no onion. They refused huh? After a two minute ordering they finally took my order. We live very close to this deli and have been wanting to try it. My husband likes to grab a sandwich before work for his lunch break. I went there this morning to grab him one of their BLT's. The sandwiches come with a "free" side, but what that really means is a "forced" side cause the prices on the sandwiches are very expensive. The BLT was $11 dollars!!!! The side I chose was the potato salad (4 ounce container). I did not get a drink. So the price for 2 sandwiches (I got one too) was $23 dollars plus a small tip, so $26 bucks. To be honest, I assumed the sandwiches would be the kind you can only eat half and save the other half for later. Ya, nope, see attached pictures. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and the place appeared clean. I think we will stick with JimmyJohns or Jersey Mikes. read more

I was looking for a good pastrami sandwich in the area. It seems jewish deli's or even a decent pastrami is hard to find in this area. I read good things about Fat Guys, so I traveled the 25 mins to get to it to see about this place. Was definitely a disappointment. Now they have a lot of choices and maybe some of their other items are good, but the pastrami sandwich was not. The Rye bread was soggy and didn't even taste like rye bread. It was a small sandwich for the basically 12 dollar price tag. This is a far cray from a decent pastrami sandwich. There wasn't a lot of meat on it and the mustard almost tasted like basic yellow mustard. Definitely not the good jewish style deli Pastrami I was looking for. I don't think I will go back to try any of the other sandwiches. It's just too far and too expensive to be let down again. read more

We'll done Fat Guys. You just lost an 8 year, loyal customer. I can't believe it. I came in for my regular BLT and asked, as I've done for the past 8 years, to hold the regular spread and give me mustard instead. Today I was told that "new policies" would not allow me to substitute mustard for aioli (or whatever). I thought it was a spoof. Surely they were teasing me. But no! Their new policy includes not allowing a customer to replace aioli with mustard. Come on! This is a deli! They make the sandwiches in front of you! Can't they squirt one tube of toppings on your bread instead of another tube? I'm off to Subway or Firehouse subs. At least they will honor my simple wishes. Have been here many times it is close to home, the bread is not the best, the meats have been good. Went in today and they changed the rules you can no longer get a sandwich the way you like it, they will not allow you to remove several items in the sandwich. This is ridiculous, Since the 70s fast food places have been allowing you to get it your way. Without being able to get a sandwich the way I want it, subway in the same parking lot would be better,even though that is a low grade sandwich. I don't recommend this place if you want to have a sandwich the way you would like it. There is many other sandwich places out there that will make it as you would like it. read more

Used to look forward to Fat Guys Fresh deli in between soccer games at Simplot, but now their motto is "It's Our Way or Go To Subway". I was told every sandwich has sauce, and I'm not allowed to have it without. I used to love getting sandwiches how I love them, but I will no longer be going here. The food here is really good if a little pricey but I can make two meals out of a sandwich here. Sadly, even if I had read prior reviews about substitutions, I wouldn't think much about it. Food service is tough and people can be picky but when staff is rude about their "policies", it's not worth the poor experience. The crude language overheard was the deal breaker. I can make a better deli sandwich at home without hearing f-bombs and racial slurs. read more

a low gas tank resulted in me stopping at the Sinclair station on Gowen. It was after 2pm and I realised I had missed lunch. In driving around the strip mall lot, I spied this little sandwich shoppe which turned out to be a hidden gem. I tried the french dip sans horseradish and it was both flavourful and hearty in size. The au jus container was enough for the entire sandwich unlike those places that give you a tiny take out dip cup where your sandwich and you are left high and dry halfway through. The au jus had a slightly smoky? bbq flavour x the real deal. I also tried the potato salad - full disclosure, I had low expectations of receiving either a soupy over-mayoed p.s. or a vinegar-eggy German version. Nope, wrong again. This was delicious homemade potato salad with perfectly cooked chunks of potato and just the right amount of dressing. I think it may have had bacon bits in it as well. So pleased (and so stuffed now) that I discovered this sandwich shoppe. The owner and staff were friendly, patient and accomodating as I deliberated on my selections and requested a doable substitution. This is a perfect 10 for taste and service from a sandwich shoppe. If you want an inexpensive, quick but delicious lunch or dinner try this place. read more

Just got the #12 Wally Special. That sandwich blew me away how good it was. Couldn't even tell you what all was in there, but it was absolutely delicious. I ordered a #33 for my mother, who is fresh off the boat from the old country. She was shocked a sandwich could be that tasty. In the Basque country, sandwiches couldn't be more different. This place is great. While waiting, the staff and I talked about visiting bogus basin with the kids. Staff is friendly, energetic, and fun. read more
