Our family of five enjoyed lunch here at The Borough yesterday. It was fun to see they serve brunch Sat & Sun until 3pm, which is later than most restaurants. My husband and I took full advantage of the menu's variety; he ordered the breakfast burger and I ordered the butterfly path sushi roll. Both dishes were excellent. The ingredients were fresh and I felt they really put thought and effort into both. The waiter was very attentive. He was acommodating when we ordered our son's pizza with a modification. Our daughter is a fan of mac and cheese so I was pleased to see they make it from scratch instead of serving Kraft for the kids' menu. I also ordered the Designated Driver mocktail and it was delightful. The icing on the cake was when my husband forgot his credit card in the check booklet and the hostess chased us all the way into the parking lot across the street to return it! Everything was fire. I read the mixed reviews and was worried about trying The Borough. For no reason. Their nachos are fresh and excellent, their sushi rolls are amazing, (we had a salmon roll, shrimp tempura and a sweet potato roll). My son had the Nashville Chicken sandwich. We'll be back. Downingtown's newest hot spot!! The Borough is in the middle of Downingtown and it's bumping!! Newly renovated and still working on the 2nd floor, it's sure to expand the success of this business. My visit was on a weekday for lunch. The bright, natural light and open spacious feel shined with bright energy. Diners are seated comfortably at booths, high top tables, window or outdoor seating or at the bar. I enjoyed the house-made seasoned potato chips, classic burger (cooked to perfection) and seasoned fries. My server, Haley was sweet, attentive and informative. Keith is a hands on owner manager. He proudly gave a me tour of the 2nd floor. Opening Thursday- I was impressed! Destination Downingtown! Parking- is a concern. Look, I don't necessarily want to through shade at an essentially good idea. I am glad to have another local entertainment venue. I can't comment on the food- - as we had a couple of drinks with friends. Mehhhh - I would say they would be well advised to find professional bartenders, Our drinks were pretty bad - and they were extremely easy ones- nothing crazy. Ordered a double whiskey and soda in a pint glass - it looked and tasted very weak. Old fashioned was syrupy sweet. I could go on - but suffice to say we decided to bail after drinks as a result. We were seated immediately for an early dinner, but our table had been cleared - but not cleaned. We had to ask our server for a wipe. Some items were reasonably priced, but others - like the charcuterie appetizer - were expensive. We ordered one anyway and it was slim pickings. Among small bits of cheese and thin sliced sausage was, literally, one slice of toast cut into quarters. For $32? The Margherita pizza was, however, really good and reasonably priced (although smallish). The sourdough crust was crispy and chewy. But our entrees were delivered to our table barely five minutes after the appetizer. The food was good, and I appreciate the need to cut a few corners on quantity. But a clean table and well-paced service are necessities. Next time, we'll get a Margherita pizza to go. read more

Second visit. As a new place, I figured I'd give them a second chance, after the first visit was a fail. Ordered a basic, standard cocktail - an Old Fashioned - and it was terrible. Second time was even worse. Tasted like 50% bitters, so I requested a do-over. Another fail. It's not a hard drink to make, unless you don't know how. They need to hire real bartenders, not college bar vodka/tonic, shots and beer slingers. And test their skills. First. It's not too late to start over, but it has to be intentional, and successful. My first visit burger was good. The second visit dessert was good. An event had good appetizers and pizza. But if I can't confidently order a fundamental cocktail, I won't be back. This is our third time here. The bartenders and staff are all good with customer service however the food is inconsistent. Tonight we ordered a buffalo chicken cheese steak. The sauce overtook the chicken and cheese. It was so salty and ruined the sandwich. We did let our server know and he thanked us for letting him know.?! read more

It's only been open for a few weeks but we were impressed on a Saturday night. Lots of people and live music. Our server Steph, was very good and knowledgeable. Our party had the borough burger, cheesesteaks, sushi borough roll, and the chicken sandwich on the donut roll. Everyone was pleased. Lots of beer choices at the bar and each of us were happy with our beer and cocktails. 2nd floor bar is nice and on the other side another gathering room. Lots of TVs and would be a great place to watch football. All in all a great experience and will return. read more

The waitstaff were amazing. Very attentive and engaging. One of my companions ordered an IPA and received a Cider. Our wonderful waitress went back to the bartender who said "yes indeed it is an IPA while it was most 100% a cider. The food was ok. Two of us had cheesesteaks. I had a chopped beef and cheese - good but difficult to eat. My husband had a plain cheese pizza that he enjoyed. I had a dirty martini which was delicious. We didn't stay for music or a band which would likely be a different experience. So maybe I'll go back? But I don't feel like I'm missing anything if I don't. read more

My neighbor and I had been looking forward to trying The Borough since before it opened, so we went for Sunday brunch with high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience fell short. We were seated at a table that was still dirty. I ordered a Bloody Mary and asked specifically about the horseradish level, since I do not love the flavor. I was assured it did not have much, but it was overwhelmingly horseradish-heavy. I drank it anyway. My friend ordered decaffeinated tea. For food, I ordered the avocado toast with lump crab and my friend ordered eggs Benedict. Despite the restaurant not being busy and appearing to have more staff than customers, we waited about 30 minutes for our food. While waiting, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold. The owner later mentioned they had forgot to turn the heat on that morning. To add to the odd atmosphere, Chop Suey by System of a Down came on (heavy metal song about death), which did not exactly set the tone for a relaxed Sunday brunch. When the food finally arrived, my avocado toast was missing the lump crab entirely. We ate about a third of our meals before asking for the check. The food itself was just okay and not worth the long wait. As we were leaving, the owner did approach us, and said that next time we should ask for him and he would make it right, handing us his business card. We appreciated the gesture, but ultimately left and went to McDonald's instead. Overall, disappointing experience for a place we were really excited to try. read more

Visited The Borough this past Friday night, spent over $150 and we ordered 4 cheesesteaks plus a could other things. Not one of the second halves of the cheesesteaks were eaten because they were all so dry. We asked to have cheeses put on one of the cheesesteaks because we could not see any and found out that the chef was irritated at us for asking for more. This was my 3rd time here - 1st when it first opened - had a cheese burger and it tasted terrible. 2nd time - chicken sandwich and it was okay and then this was the 3rd time. Food--a bowl and kids menu item, macaroni and cheese took awhile-with no updates from server, although I did see two staff members who appeared to be managers who were just walking around and didn't appear to be helping anyone. The bowl I ordered was kale, Farrow and buffalo chicken, it was basically a bowl of pharaoh with a few places of kale, and grilled chicken, the chicken was definitely the best part. I have an odd menu, American food and sushi. They do offer brunch, Saturdays, and Sundays, but apparently not on this Sunday which was disappointing.. What in the 1985 is going on at this place? i got bad vibes right off the bat, from their neon blasted facade sticking out like a sore thumb on the otherwise understated street. The decor was sterile and unwelcoming. I had a lot of questions.... Why are there only 5% of the ceiling tiles installed? Why don't they give change? why is the menu all american food then a random side quest sushi menu? why did half our meal take 10 minutes longer to get to the table only to arrive overcooked? why was the signature borough burger missing toppings? why are there so many half circle booths? why are the chairs from my elderly neighbors yard sale? Why is 85% of the staff high school children? do yourself a favor and don't try to solve these mysteries. read more

The service was very slow and not helpful at all. The waitress and another staff member were having a disagreement. We went for a birthday celebration and we were very disappointed. I decided to take my daughter there for her birthday. We got there at 5. we each had one of the bowls, which was just OK. we had ordered a dessert because it was her birthday and the girl forgot the dessert. The worst part of our experience there was a manager coming up and asking us if we'd like to see the upstairs and it was after we've been there for an hour and 15 minutes so we could talk. In other words he was asking us to give our table up, which is absolutely classless. If I wanted to sit at that table until midnight, I should have that right without being bothered .There's no parking at the restaurant I will never go back to this restaurant I know my daughter won't. On 1/9/26, I meant my friends at the restaurant looking forward to good food and service according to the rave review, and many of us wanted to try it out because of the good reviews. I don't know where to start; the food was horrible, their burgers were dry, the wedge salad with lump crab, which I ordered you needed a microscope to see the crab meat and I sent it back, and the waitress still charged $18 dollars for a wedge of lettuce with no crab mea but thanks to the manager refunded me my money. My friend's ordered pizza, the Mac-n- cheese, sushi and burgers, nothing was good, none of us enjoyed our food. The sprite was flat, the waitress said the machine wasn't working correctly. The Chef should be fired, our waitress was not good, she was confused and needed proper training. my friends barely ate their food and left it, no take home containers needed. Not worth the money, poor service and overpriced meals. Please try for yourselves, I wanted to try it because of the rave reviews, sorry I did. We had a bad experience and will not be returning. I would have received a better meal at McDonalds, seriousl. I will rave about the Manager on duty that day; he was very understanding and patient. read more

I gotta admit, the TikTok videos of the bartenders/hostesses caught my attention and stuck in my head. So I decided to give it a try the other night. The borough isn't it. Love supporting small businesses but damn, this place is slow as hell . The pretzel was the only thing good that we ordered. Everything else was subpar. Instead of making videos why don't we put more effort into the customer? There were about 10 locals I guess?....who took up the whole bar area and were rude and loud. If that's who you want to cater to, go for it. I highly doubt I'll ever return. I did hear the sushi was good. However, I'm not a sushi person so that doesn't appeal to me. A silver lining in it all: the older black gentleman who bartends was great! He was all the way on the opposite side of the bar and constantly checked on us and recommended a few good drink options. RUDEST FEMALE BARTENDER! Stopped in for a drink before dinner last night. Downstairs bartenders were very friendly and great service. Stopped back in after our dinner and went upstairs. Big mistake. Two young female bartenders- the blonde one wearing a light blue hoodie was SO RUDE AND NASTY! Informed us it was last call like we had committed a crime. Some other young guys were also there and they were not pushing them to leave. We were DISGUSTED by her nasty attitude- she seriously needs a lesson on customer service and etiquette! Managers- hire better! No one should talk to a customer the way she did. It was beyond insulting. Especially when you work on tips! Word spreads very quickly in a small town and we will certainly let our friends know how we were treated by this ignorant young woman. Not a good look for the restaurant. read more

So I went to watch the Eagles game last Sunday and planning to go again this Sunday. Had a great time, friendly people and great food.
